Great village pub. We were a family group of 5 and had an excellent meal. The The starters were well received and the Ceasar Salad was notable as it was ginormous and very tasty. The puddings were OK but not particularly exciting.

Last year, this was quite a special place. But, in my last two visits the quality of the food and the service has been disappointing. It’s not bad, it’s just very average. I hope the place returns to the previous standard as the interior of the pub is great, but the the food and the service leaves you wanting.

Absolutely lovely roasts. Chicken Supreme / Beef tenderloin / Pork Belly (£18.90) was very lovely cooked, nice and crunchy crackling and a sensible portion. Garlic butter seared tender stem brocoli. Ovened mini-carrots very tasty. Potatoes were sufficient and average for a pub. Lovely gravy (which is "bottomless") Cauliflower cheese would have been £4 extra. (Which is cheeky when already paying best part of 20 quid for a roast which is one of the more cost effective dishes to produce). Interesting concise selection of starters. The venue is marvellously decorated in a traditional yet not old fashioned style. 2x dining rooms each with about 30 seats. Garden is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained with sections and a BBQ area. Staff are wonderful... super friendly and attentive.

We visited for Sunday lunch and found the place relatively quiet at our arrival time. We had reserved a table in advance, so we were quickly seated and ready to order. The service was prompt and the menu, while straightforward, offered a good variety of dishes. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive. As for the food, it arrived in a reasonable timeframe and the portions were good. However, I'm giving the food 3 stars because the fish and chips, a dish I had high expectations for, was somewhat bland and disappointing, especially considering its status as a near-national dish. The pub itself is very clean with both indoor and outdoor seating that is quite inviting. Overall, a decent experience but with some room for improvement in the food.

Visited the Stanhope for Sunday lunch and was deeply disappointed. The food took nearly an hour and a half to arrive and was woefully over cooked. Burnt roast potatoes, burnt cauliflower cheese and pastry that was rock hard. My Son was treating me to a birthday lunch, but this was nothing at all special, and at £40 a head, very much over priced.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of visiting The Stanhope Arms. Throughout my visit, from the point of entering the venue to my exit, myself and my party made to feel very welcome. We smiled at from the bar by a very welcoming gentleman behind the bar, whom I later found out to be Chris. We were given Sunday menus and we were shown to a table where our drinks order was taken. We all chose different items from the menu however this did not prove any sort of an issue as relatively quickly, when the time came for the food to come all meals were not only presented beautifully and looking incredibly appetising the taste did not disappoint either. With some of the party then going on to order puddings as well. This is one of the best meals we have had out for a long time, which was made all the more enjoyable by the extremely friendly team of the Stanhope Arms whom it would appear are one great big welcoming family. Thoroughly recommend the Katsu Curry, The Stanhope Burger, The Sunday Roasts, with Beef, Gammon and Turkey being big hits with the group and the waffle for pudding.

First visit here, on a Thursday lunchtime. Pleasant enough staff. Nice traditional pub with modern decor. Had the katsu curry which I thought was a bit watery and overpriced for the standard. Had the syrup sponge and custard which was delicious. More custard would be welcome. Pub isn't responsible for their customers conduct...but seeing 3 mums boozing at lunchtime swearing in front of a young child I thought was pretty trashy. Unfortunately that was my takeaway memory. Sometimes Kent is the garden of England...sometimes it's just Essex south of the river.

This is a fantastic country pub which has an amazing ambience, some what busier than expected but it makes sense due to the selection of beers and great food. There is a bustling bar area and a separate restaurant dining area. They were very accommodating towards my 4 year old and the waitress was very attentive towards conversing with her which was lovely. The other diners and us were chatting during dinner, the crowd here is pleasant. Our food was delicious and a reasonable price, despite being busy the food also came out within a quick time as the staff are very efficient and well managed. I had the prawns for starter and sea bass for mains, both were amazing. I would like to go back here, especially as they serve my favourite beer Hoffmeister which was fresh and poured perfectly. My partner had the burger and chips and said his burger was also really tasty! The brownie was delicious, well presented with flowers and a side of ice cream Thumbs up all round.

A great little pub in the heart of the countryside. I visited at lunch time on a Sunday and it was fairly busy, but I managed to find a table with ease. I parked in the church carpark next door, I hope that is OK, church people should comment. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food that I ordered came quickly. It was delicious. I had the beef sunday roast and the only thing that I can think of as a negative comment, was that the Yorkshire pudding could have been crispier. The garden caters well for children and the tables are spaced well apart. Well worth a visit.

A lovely pub and nicely situated in a country setting with garden. Our first visit here for a Sunday roast but sadly won't be returning as not good value for money. At £18.25 for the roast beef we would have expected more on the plate. Veg consisted of one small head of broccoli (no stalk), tiny parsnip and a table spoon of pureed carrots. The roast potatoes were overcooked and were very small (think one spud cut into 4). Plus teaspoon size of stuffing. A large Yorkshire on top to conceal the small size. A same as we had high expectations after reading the reviews 😕.

It was a lovely day for a trip out to a country pub and our daughter fancied the look of this one. I have to say the place has been renoved beautifully, inside and out. Inside was nearly empty - maybe people had already read the online reviews. We didn't really fancy anything on the menu as we only wanted a light lunch like a sandwich and there weren't any listed. The 3 soups didn't sound like they'd be homemade so we all went for the sausage roll with apple sauce. Despite the lack of people, the food took ages to arrive. When it eventually turned up, 2 of the 3 sausage rolls were burnt black. Mine was OK so I started on it. It was very dry and tasteless so I tried the applw sauce but that was thin, sloppy and tasteless. My husband was furious after the long wait and took the food up to the bar to complain saying it was disgusting. The server offered to refund our 3 meals immediately. Avoid this place if you want to eat good food!
