We went for a PRE BOOKED birthday meal at midday on a Saturday. The restaurant was empty. The staff were still hoovering when we arrived and no one gave a warm welcome. The service was very slow with a young girl who had little to know knowledge of the menu. Key things were overlooked. When we mentioned how cold the place was there was no offer to turn the heating on. The food was very hot and very tasty. The chef is very talented. Portions were fine. The price was a little on the high side for the poor service.

Amazing food. Not a huge menu, but big enough. Every single mouthwatering mouthful was utterly delicious. A very talented chef accompanied by excellent and friendly waiting staff. First class!

The dinner we had there was good but expensive for what there was so we only dined there once. The breakfast was a buffet costing £10 with a further £5 if you wanted something cooked. I assume that was it as the menu showed continental £10 and each cooked breakfast £15. Not clear at all.

It was a lovely atmosphere when I visited with my daughter and friendly staff for a family RCI getaway stay for a week. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty - not gourmet but very nice with similar size portions and good tastes within the food selection. The portions of the meals served were generous and good price for what was given.

Award winning restaurant. My husband even said he'd marry the chef. Great choice of food and the breakfast kept us going all day. I believe you can just go there for Sunday lunch and/or and evening dinner, which if you lived in the area would be delightful.

We booked for dinner for our wedding anniversary. Being local, we'd always fancied a meal there so we were looking forward to our visit. Very quiet within the hotel and only a couple of tables taken in the restaurant. Small portions of food which were tasty but expensive. Laid back service which was fine, friendly staff but we came away underwhelmed. And with a bottle of bubbly after we were seated at the incorrect table. Probably catering towards tourists. We sadly wouldn't recommend or return.

The food and service in the Tempest Restaurant at Karma Salford Hall is very high quality. The Chefs use local produce to create mouth-watering masterpieces. We stayed for a week and tried to sample every dish. We were never disappointed!

We were staying in Salford Hall and chose to eat here on our first night. Nice menu, I went for the smoked salmon, although nice the portion was SO small, 2 tiny pieces of salmon with a few cubes of cucumber and a bit of cress, not even a bread roll! My partner chose the soup which was fine. We both went for the loin of venison for the main course. Again very small, two very small pieces of venison, it was very nicely cooked but again so tiny! Desert was fine but overall it was very expensive for what we had

We Stayed at Karma Salford Hall for a week. The building is very old with lots of charm and character. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant food was great. Ian the food and beverage manager couldn't have been more helpful, as I don't eat red meat he arranged for me to have chicken dishes which were excellent. The restaurant let us have meals off the lunch menu in the evening. They have a good selection of wine. We are looking for to going back later in the year.

We enjoyed every meal at this restaurant throughout our stay at Salford Hall. Ian was super friendly and most helpful with choices due to my food intolerance. The warm welcome from the girls at breakfast was much appreciated. The Eggs Benedict included the most perfect poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce, and together with 2 pots of tea, choice of toast with preserves and honey, it made a great start to our day. All the meals in the evening were so delicious. Fine dining but good portions and so flavorsome. The scallops were outstanding, the rack of lamb perfectly pink and you must try the crab starter. Creamy crab, and gin infused melon topped with trout caviar which burst with flavour on your tongue. The dining room which is steeped in history has a most relaxed and welcoming atmosphere so my thanks go to everyone that made our dining experiences so pleasurable. Excellent value for money.

The place is a building site, with having to eat in a marquee, full of monoxide fumes from the diesel heater, with the food a service being very poor.

The hotel is a very pretty, very old building, in a lovely setting, [with plenty of adjacent free parking], and the restaurant is beautiful, spotlessly clean and very well set out. The staff were really friendly, helpful, but not intrusive. The afternoon tea was excellent, quality food, presented beautifully. No basic sandwiches, instead lovely small, freshly baked rolls, and also lovely fresh scones two of which, were cheese scones, with ham and pickle filling, amazing! A really nice selection of small cakes, [carrot, victoria sponge, lemon meringue], and a lovely mixed mousse. We asked for a side salad as well, [as we had our tea at lunchtime], which was also delicious, [and a very reasonable price]. The whole experience was perfect and we will definitely be visiting again.

Met for lunch with family for a meal on Christmas Eve. Just as well we created our own festive atmosphere as the hotel certainly didn't. No Christmas cheer. Bleak dining room - not even crackers on the table; disinterested staff and no other guests! Not even a cheery 'Merry Christmas' when we left. Fortunately the food was fine but not good enough to entice us back.

Having booked on line for my wife and I to eat in the restaurant, on arrival we were very disappointed when we were told that there was a computer problem and the restaurant was full. They had set a table in the conservatory for us and as it was 13:30 on a Sunday afternoon we had no choice but to take it. I expressed our disappointment and the staff were very apologetic. Putting the above aside the staff were friendly, the service was excellent and the food was good. I can’t comment on the ambiance or atmosphere as we were the only people eating in the conservatory and it was lacking in both. We did have a pre dinner drink in the bar and we found that area a bit tired and draughty.

We attended a jazz lunch today at Salford Hall Hotel. Have attended themed events before. Starters were all fine, main course all fine but 3 of us had Christmas Pudding for dessert and whilst 2 people had a lovely Christmas pudding the third person had a horrible slab of something resembling Christmas Pudding but not tasting anything like it. It was dealt with by staff through a free drink at the bar as the only comment coming from the chef was that it was Christmas Pudding, but it has put us off going again! Of the four of us in the party the person who had the questionable pudding it was the person who does the most cooking and knows the difference between the two! Also the temperature in the gazebo varied from hot to cold throughout the meal, which is not a comfortable ambience! There was no salt and pepper on our table and the excuse was that the cruets had been stolen at a wedding the previous day - not really the guests’ problem.

A fascinating pub that we were told was once owned by Henry VIII and given to Catherine of Aragon on their divorce. Then owned by Magdalene College Oxford for hundreds of years. It’s certainly old with flagstone floors, lots of panelling and a no longer accessible secret passageway to the church across the road. Top that with decent beers, a short freshly cooked menu and friendly service
