Lovely ambience absolutely delicious food not Neen here in ages I was not disappointed very good food the butter chicken so succulent ,the rice was fluffy and so hot 😋

Food was tasty and fresh. We had a take away so I can't comment on the atmosphere, but we were very happy with the service, the time it took to deliver and we enjoyed a meal where all the dishes had their own flavour and character. We enjoyed the vegetable Balti and Okra especially. The price seemed reasonable too. We will order again.

Traditional 'old school' restaurant with consistently excellent food and personable, professional service. As locals, we have been regulars at this restaurant for nearly 20 years and it is an absolute gem. If you are looking for quality, tasty food and a traditional feel - this is the place for you. We highly recommend!

Really good , definitely recommend

We were down for the FA Cup final and decided to give this restaurant a try having read the previous reviews, particularly the one from the canal guy. The exterior of the property is not particularly enticing but don't be fooled, the inside is very welcoming and homely. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food excellent and prices reasonable. There were what appeared to be lots of locals enjoying themselves inside and the restaurant was fairly full at around 8pm, a good sign. Poppadoms, onion bargies, tandoori mixed grill, chicken tikka biriani, butter chicken and peshwari naan washed down with nice cold bottle of Cobra did the trick, would definitely recommend to others. Well done Standard Tandoori!!

Had a problem with the order as had a new driver. Restaurant couldn’t have been more helpful and came back straight away with a completely fresh order.

Disgusting service. We ordered a delivery at 6.15pm for a celebration birthday dinner and was promised a 40 minute eta. Several phone calls and 2 hours later, still no food. We then had to make alternative food arrangements as no one could tell us when the food was actually arriving and my 80+ year old parents wanted to get home at a reasonable hour. Night was ruined. Is this how they repay loyal customers who stuck with them when their hygiene rating went to zero and used them during Covid times and yet we never received an apology. It's not on! We will never use you again.

We recently visited Watford on a Saturday for the day and found that the Standard Tandoori in Rickmansworth was open at lunchtime. We are so glad we visited. We really enjoyed our food of Chicken Dupiaza and Prawn Madras with Pilau Rice and Garlic Naan. They have a good selection of lagers to chose from which is always a bonus. The owner of the Restaurant was really friendly and welcoming and we had a good chat with him. We'd definitely recommend visiting Standard Tandoori. You won't be disappointed.

Ordered the chicken bhuna and there was no hint of spice or heat to it. Very bland. The Bombay potato was completely bland and had no flavour to it. Onion Bahaji was dripping in grease. And the pilau rice we ordered was not pilau rice at all. Very disappointed with my order

Standard Tandoori is a good Indian takeaway as they are one of the few restaurants to do Keema curries.

Discovered this place by accident whilst boating up the Grand Union canal, mooring up by the lock and walking up the lane to the shops. What an utter gem; a spotlessless clean old school curry house with an immaculate interior and cosy dining booths. We were waited upon by the charming proprietor, who's owned the business since 1980. The menu is massive and all tastes are catered for. The arrival of two bottles of ice cold Kingfisher beers boded well, and was soon backed up by the arrival of popadums and copius chalices of pickles and sauces - not the homeopathic portions so common nowadays. My mixed grill starter of Tandoori chicken, tikkas and kebab was the size of a main course and delicious. Mains of chicken dansak, and biriyani with veggie curry, supported by saag aloo and peshwari naan duly filled the table. It was a magnificent feast; we couldn't finish it, so it was helpfully doggie-bagged and enjoyed the following evening. How this quality of food can be presented at this very affordable price point is amazing. We will certainly be paying our respects again on our return journey. I've loved eating Indian food for nearly 50 years - and that available in the UK still delights me. Go to the Croxley Green Standard Tandoori, you will not regret it.

I have had 2 meals at the Standard Tandoori and both have been first class. In fact I’m going again this evening. Great food. Good prices. Yum yum.

Ate here on a bank holiday evening. Walked into a very busy restaurant and was lucky to get a table for the 4 of us. Received a warm friendly welcome and good service despite being rushed off their feet, but the highlight was the food, superb dishes nicely spiced and good sized portions. Our first visit here but won’t be the last.

We have been coming here for over 20 years and the food gets better and better. The waiters are friendly and the service excellent. My Achari Chicken last night was really tasty. The restaurant is always clean and the tables look nice with crisp white tablecloths, etc. Will return again soon.

The quantity was good but the food quality was bad 👎.

The popadom was disgusting the smell and taste was horrible I think they cooked it in bad oil. The korma was so bland a jar korma would have tasted better with only 3 pieces of chicken in it. The rice wasn’t the best either. Nan bread was quite burnt. Won’t be ordering again

We went on recommendation that this would be a great curry, when ordering the guy taking the order did not understand my order so had to pass the phone to a colleague, when my partners order came it was disgusting, the chicken was clearly frozen beforehand, rubbery and dry, he also asked for the dish madras hot, they just dumped a load of chilli powder into the dish before dishing up, the other dishes provided were very average, won’t bother again!

Quite a standard Indian restaurant. The poppadums and onion Bhaji are both very good, the lamb dishes are o.k. with an excellently balanced spice-level, but not an abundance of meat. prices are pretty standard for the area.

Service is great, they were able to make me a vegetarian korma which was delicious. Naan breads are especially good. They also deliver during lunch time.

My order came on time and was left in the porch as instructed. However, l didn’t know that it had arrived because the delivery person didn’t knock on my door as requested at the time of arrival. The food was lukewarm when I found it but despite that it was delicious.

I have been here a few times but not back in a while, however I think the food has just got better the poppadoms are crispy and fresh the condiments are always delicious. Starters were amazing and the mains butter chicken and tandoori chicken were cooked to perfection always friendly service. The best Indian for miles .

Ordered takeaway for collection for the first time, and will definitely order again. For £15 I had enough for three meals, all delicious, and it was ready for collection in half an hour.

A nice Christmas catch up with friends over a great curry. A relatively small order by our standard, but we chose well. My mango chutney was missing for my poppadoms, which was a shame. The price increase of the king prawns was also a shock (just under £17 now for a prawn curry), which resulted in me opting for chicken, but I guess we are all aware that prices in general have gone up. I always enjoy a curry from the Standard and recommend you give them a try.

Six of us celebrated a family birthday - the service was calm and efficient without being rushed, the food was very tasty and good value, with very reasonable wine and beer. We'll be going again!

Chicken Biryani was not really like Chicken Biryani. The chicken was not tender and the rice used was not biryani long rice. No aroma of spices at all. Even the salt was less. Overall biryani was really good. Chicken was not fresh at all. It was just a mix of small rice and chicken gravy mixed together., Chicken Karahi - Chicken was not fresh. No real karahi aroma. Not well cooked. Kulcha Nan- it was a Nan with few bits of cut onion on top. Nothing really great. Very hard to bite and ending up throwing up. Samosa - It was frozen samosa Sorry about such a review but the food was not fresh at all. In Restaurant or food business, you need make sure that every ingredient is fresh no matter what. It taste and freshness that pays off and not the delivery time. We will never order again. Please try Taste of Lahor.
