Restaurant is quiet and I will never understand why. Its a very pleasant and clean place - table well laid out with white tablecloths etc. Only minus point were the plastic flowers on the table. The food is really excellent. The portions were good. The staff were very accommodating us with their curries The staff are very good and professional. Would recommend this place highly. I would certainly be returning.

Their menu offers a starter, main, side, rice and Naan for £12.95 on a Tuesday evening. It is clearly printed. We went there on that basis. When the bill came it was priced at £15.95. I complained and was told that due to inflation it had gone up. They agreed their menu still showed £12.95. The food was average. Service was good, if a bit slow, but because of their rip off we did not leave a tip and will not be going back.

We had a takeaway from Shemul one Saturday night. I was surprised how quiet the restaurant was. I had to wait a little while for the food. The quality of the food was very good though, service was friendly and prices were reasonable.

The food is good here, quality and price is excellent and delivered by a friendly driver. All the dishes we've had taste different as they should and are well flavoured. The meat quality is very good. One thing I would like is an ability to add chicken or lamb tikka as an option to all of your curry dishes so I could choose say a Chicken Tikka Dhansak or a Lamb Tikka Bhuna. That would be an improvement in my opinion

The food was so good. I had Peshawari Chicken, along with garlic naan and pilau rice. I tried Peshawari for the first time and it was very flavoursome. I recommend this. The rice was moist and the garlic naan was tasty.

This is a really good local Indian restaurant. Decent range of beers and spirits, and accommodating over sauce and spice levels of dishes. Starters particularly good, really enjoyed the onion bhajis which are massive.

I hate leaving bad reviews. Particularly here with Shemul and up til now I rate them well. But I’ve called to resolve an issue , they are not interested. Phoned two people at Shemul to complain of food poisoning and asked justeats and Shemul for a simple refund of £25 to appease, it was a no. After 1 and half hours of eating my lamb and rice the room was spinning, I couldn’t stand, my body instant wet. Nausea kicked in, i could not get up, I vomited again & again all night . I understand things can go wrong which by why I called TWO times to simply get my money back. Wasn’t to be, hence review. Shame.’

Ate here on a Wednesday evening, and as our party of six were the only diners at the restaurant there was not much in the way of atmosphere. Service, however, was friendly and attentive and the staff did well to get a large order completely correct and ensure all the meals were served simultaneously. Not the best Indian cuisine I have ever experienced but certainly plentiful, tasty and enjoyable. All six of us would be happy to visit again.

Having a little shop in Chelsea means we get to be right next too, and to sometimes try a few exclusive or fancier restaurants which of course is lovely, but too indicate just how good this place is we both hands down prefer coming to Shemuls on the night before we go away on holiday or at the end of a busy month. Their food is unbelievably delicious and the simple stripped back decor means you get to focus most on what you came for - beautiful food and a nice chilled conversation. 100% the Goan fish curry for the win, it’s so good

I’m very confused with the rating at this restaurant. The food was dry and tasteless and it took 40 min for them to bring our food, they only had 3 other tables. Very disappointed

Best Indian restaurant I have been to. The food is tasty, for dine in and takeaway. Employees are lovely and helpful. We live quite far but would not eat a curry anywhere else!! The Tuesday banquet is an absolute feast. You must try!

We have ordered 3 times from this Indian restaurant, and we have NEVER been disappointed!! Always come within the time they give, 30% discount on all takeaways, always been more than enough for 3 adults and then some for the following day! The food and the flavours are truly amazing and such great value too. Have only eaten in the restaurant once on a work dinner which was also lovely, but very much looking forward to going back there to eat with the family when restrictions have eased. Delivery drivers are always so courteous and the food is always piping hot, despite them being a 15 minute drive from us. 5 star review for 5 star food!

Booked table for 8.30pm and due to Covid restrictions had to wait in car for about 35 mins. The staff were extremely apologetic and showed excellent customer service. Food was nice and it was a enjoyable experience as this was our first visit.

Visited the other evening for the first time in a couple of months and were greeted like long lost family. I have recently changed my diet and Jamil recommend a new dish not yet on the menu, Dhall Samba. Have to say it was one of the best curries I have ever eaten. Having had a great round of golf at Moor Park and a few beers afterwards, we happened on The Shemul as it was the closest Indian restaurant. We were greeted by Jamil, who is what every waiter/host/comedian should aspire to! He made sure that we were happy with the food t all times, was attentive to all the people in the restaurant and joined in with our banter. Excellent so far. When the food arrived, that just took the experience to another level! Samosas you could tell were made in house, The Jalfrezi made with a medium heat was out of this world as were all the other dishes on the table! Net result = Great (unlike our golf scores) Well done Jamil and the rest of the team!!! Look forward to coming back to that neck of the woods again!! Conrad

Popped in after work for a decent curry as had a rubbish day and Shemul did not disappoint! Perfect tandoori mixed grill, superb gobi bhaji and the most sublime chilli and garlic naan. This is without doubt the best quality Indian restaurant in our area and the quality of the food is consistently high. Great service from the family team and a relaxed atmosphere all add up to a superb meal out. The Cobra was ice cold as usual and overall a 11/10 experience.

This restaurant is now our favourite of not only Indian fare but per se. We always get a warm welcome, fantastic service and never had a below par meal, quite the contrary. This is a very convenient restaurant near Moor Park station and we often arrive quite late after a concert in London. Even so the welcome is warm and friendly and the service efficient and accommodating. The food is consistently tasty and good. We particularly like the Tandoori Chicken which is done well and also the prawn dishes are excellent. Not inexpensive for a local Indian restaurant but good value and always enjoyable.

I love this place. My favorite Indian restaurant in London at a reasonable price point. Totally out in the middle of nowhere, but I still make the trip just to eat here. Great menu, real Indian/Bangladeshi food. I lived in India for a year. I am so happy to have found this place.

Its gone down hill but must struggle with no footfall in exclusive area

Excellent food, friendly service, have been dining here for years and absolutely love it. Family run and desperate to please, on very rare occasion when a mistake was made they have never hesitated to remedy or remove from the bill.

We were recommended to Shemul by friends and booked looking forward to a lovely evening. We arrived at 8.30 and by 9.30 we had still not received any food. When we finally manage to get someone’s attention to ask for service, we were amazed at the rude response we got. We were told that there were many other people waiting for service and we were not the only ones waiting for food !! We were horrified to be spoken to like that and let them know how we felt. The accuser did try apologise but his whole attitude was appalling. The food when it finally came was good but not outstanding. It did spoil the evening a bit, as we had recommended the restaurant, and it was slightly embarrassing too! There are far better places to enjoy a good meal and service. We will definitely not be returning!

Had the great pleasure of eating in the Shemul last night after walking the London LOOP from Uxbridge. The chilli paneer, porata, poddadums, and a couple of lovely cold Bangla beers all went down very satisfyingly and smoothly. The staff were attentive and friendly, didn't rush us to order or to leave after we'd left, and shook our hands on departure. It was a much enjoyed, much needed, and much valued experience. I'd recommend anybody finding themselves near Moor Park station to give this place a go. Even the after dinner mints and hot towels were more chocolatey and hotter than usual. Win win all round.

The Shemul is a pretty unique experience. This is not just a meal out, it is a restaurant where, from the moment you enter, you are treated to the warmest greeting, the friendliest service, the best advice on dishes, and the most delicious food. Nothing is too much trouble and last night, for my birthday, Jamill and the team really made it special. We have introduced a few people to this hidden gem now and all are very impressed. It's not the cheapest, but by no means expensive, and the whole experience is excellent value. I can't recommend The Shemul highly enough!

Location, the local Indian and speaks well for Moor Park. Enjoy the food, food service and obviously the food.

This is the best curry house in Hertfordshire... lovely ambience, unhurried service from Jamill and his Dad, delightful food ... this is our fifth visit and couldn’t contemplate going anywhere else locally now! As a footnote, it’s in Moor Park estate but you do not have to live there to enter!

Went there last night for a valentines treat and got to say it was brilliant. The food was fantastic and plentiful, the staff very friendly and attentive.. there was no pressure to leave, and came to table on eye contact. This is the second visit we have made here and it’s gone right to the top of our favourite curry houses. Thanks for the balloon and red rose given to my Lady friend! Cracking gesture.

My experience in shemul was the best, they are not the sort the people who just take your order and thats it. They actually want you to enjoy your meal and have good time. I had starter, main, side, rice , naan. the starter I had was prawn mini pure which was the best around the Hertfordshire area, then for mains I was recommended medium hot dish that was not on the menu (which they did not have to do) I forget the name of the dish but it was very tasty, I also order the lady fingers (bendi) which was great not to much oil just enough to have to actually taste the flavours.. then I had Vegetable rice and plain naan.

This was a very frustrating experience. The slowest service of any Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Staff were mostly coralled in the kitchen completely oblivious to diners’ needs. It took around 30 mins to give our main order, this being after the table next door who came in the restaurant after us. Infuriating ......and a sign that the staff were clueless. And the restaurant was less than half full on a Saturday night. The slow service continued and 3 x tables sat waiting and waiting for tables to be cleared and orders for desserts or coffee to be taken. I had to call the timid waiter from the kitchen when he poked his head briefly out of the door. When I said we had decided to go because the service was so slow, he laughed. The one guy in the main restaurant answering the phone for takeaways was also doing drinks for the tables and other duties. He made no effort to fetch other staff from the kitchen to serve at table. The whole place smacks of complacency - the staff need an urgent training course to remind them they should be properly attentive to customer needs. We have noticed the restaurant being pretty empty before and it is obvious now why .......very slack staff management. I note some other reviewers didn’t rate the food very highly. Actually we rather liked the food, although we are not experts on Indian cuisine. What is telling though is the fact that that a Chinese restaurant a few doors along from Shemul is ALWAYS packed in the evenings and also many lunchtimes - and their phone rings off the hook for takeaways. Guess what, most diners in the Chinese restaurant are Indian Asian families, often 8 or more to a table. No sign of these families in Shemul, sadly. The owner needs to get a grip and light a firework under all the staff. This ought to be a much more popular restaurant, but it seems to have lost its way at the moment.

i see a few people have complained about the food at shemul.well i can categorically refute their views.i we have eaten in this restaraunt for at least 15 years..the family who run it .always show us different dishes .all are top class..try it yourself you will not be disappointed

Watch out. They charge you more than the menu prices. Has happened twice.

If you don't like Indian food and you add sugar to all your meals with a serving spook The Shemul is for you.

La comida ha sido la misma durante años, nada especial. Fuimos a mediados de semana, y fue uno de sólo 4 personas. Sospecho que la comida servida no estaba recién hecho que es vergonzoso cuando no hay nadie allí. Se quejó al director, quien se mostró reacio a reemplazarlo, él parecía bastante contento de presentar la tarifa por debajo del estándar. Restaurantes deben estar orgullosos de lo que sirven, que parecen ser en para hacer el dinero a cualquier precio. No me molestaría hasta cambios de gestión.

O Dear -left overs passed off as fresh! I`ve been going here for years but never again. The menu has stayed the same, only the prices have changed -up up up. Went during the week to be served dry Onion barges. When challenged the waiter admitted they were made the day before and kept under a warmer. I suspect they were made the week before. Can the chef not make fresh onion barges when there are only two people in the whole restaurant. What made it worse was the waiters attitude, that someone may dare to complain. Replaced them with the Dry Barges dipped in the fryer -must think we are stupid. What a shame as it used to be a nice restaurant.

Used to be a nice restaurant, but my last experience was terrible. Left overs reheated and passed off as fresh. The restaurant trade is too competitive to pass off shoddy tricks like this -improve your food and customer service or you will be suffer -with the power of the internet people take notice of these reviews.

Elegimos Shemul para cenar en Nochevieja (habíamos tienen buena experiencia con la hermana restaurante en Chorleywood hace tiempo esperaba buena y cosas aquí en Moor Park) Nada particularmente "equivocado" con nada. Simplemente nada de wow. Toda la experiencia es muy antiguo. La decoración antigua. . Servicio normal, casi. cero ambiente. . . (era Nochevieja por amor de Dios! ! ) lo suficientemente decente pero muy típico menú indio. nada nuevo y la comida, cuando llegó era lo mismo. Aburrido y francamente no muy bueno! Decepcionado y sensación de izquierda a £70, 00 por 2 entradas y 2 platos principales y un par de copas. . fue una experiencia decepcionante! Restaurante necesita hacer más y el menú y la presentación necesita un difícil repensar.

Hi , just returned from a meal out at this Restraunt, the food was Devine , it wasn't busy just a table behind us with ten oldish lads on who were served all together, & we were next had my reservations about this Restraunt, never been before , nobody recommended this place to me just off the cuff , well the food we had was very tasty all the flavours and more , kema rice was nice and the too mains of chicken dish were really nice, looking around I thought the decor could be improved, perhaps me for being in so many nice restaurants with great modern decor, any way back to the food great tastes , good service , highly recommend to others , near to station if you wish to commute reasonably priced

We have been going to Shemuls for years and it has been consistently good, although it has to be said that I prefer take-a-way to eating in and I'm not sure why. Although a little more expensive and a little further away from our house than others, it's worth it.

the menu has been updated and the food is good and the service very friendly but not obtrusive. A really enjoyable meal.

This has become a dependable favorite of ours. We started with 2 pompadons and we like all the little fixings that come with that. Then we ordered a vegetable samosa (decent size to share) and the sheek kabob to also share. Then I ordered the tandoori chicken (half) which comes 'dry' full of lots of flavour and seasoning on a sizzle plate with onions underneath. A favorite of mine, very filling. Scott ordered the chicken bhuna which was also pretty tasty. We shared a pilaf rice and a chipati (sp?) and that was nice to soak up a bit of sauce. Very tasty!

The Shemul is an excellent Resturant which offers a great range of tasty Asian I.e Punjabi, food. Loads of different main dishes and all served with great pride. Totally pro service. Good night out

The food was quite good but we had to wait a while for our starters to be served. The service was friendly, but our drinks were not the ones we ordered unfortunately. When i received the bill i was disappointed by the inflated prices and it would be cheaper in central London and I'm sure we would have had a better dining experience.

The staff are very friendly and genuine, the service is very good, the atmosphere is great and the food is fantastic - very tasty and out of this world. I think I'm going to be coming here for a while!

I have been trying out some indian restaurants in the local area, and have been disappointed by many and surprised by some, including, Curry Garden, Eastern Spice, Nabab and many others, After finding Shemul, I was amazed I didn't see it before, the BEST food I could buy. You will not go anywhere else after this!!

Visited here for the first time a few weeks ago with work colleagues to try a new curry house. The owner was very friendly and informative. The food is clearly all prepared freshly and to order (when appropriate) and you don't mind waiting a bit longer than other curry houses for it. I was so pleased with the food that a week late I brought my family back! Would recommend to all.

I know I have reviewed this restaurant before but I must tell my readers about a great new (to me) dish I have discovered. It is called Achari Dish. It is absolutely delicious. Michelin standard. You can have it with lamb (which I did) or chicken or prawn. I recommend it. As usual the service was great but it is the Achari dish I am really writing about. Try it. I feel confident you'll like it.

The food service were all more than excellent, an excellent fine dine, with the best members of staffthey were really friendly and really helpful, would recommend to anyone and any day must visit!!!!! better than ANY other local indian restaurant!

We have been coming here for years. Shemul is our favourite local Indian restaurant. The owner is delightful. BUT! I don't know if Shemul has a new chef but the chicken pieces have become so big that they are inedible. The meat is too tough to cut on the plate. Please cut them smaller in the kitchen. That's all. We still love coming to Shemul!

First time visited the restaurant and it has been the best night to have a meal with friends. The service was really nice and efficient. Food was hitting all the taste buds. And was given a large portion. Excellent value for money.

£11.95 for 5 courses and they didn't scrimp on the portion sizes. I got far more than I paid for. Really recommend getting here on a Tuesday night.

BEST EVER! I have never been to a place that's any better. Been to Rajdoot, been to maharaja very POOR! Food was still raw. But in Moor Park absolutely perfect. Staff are incredibly friendly.

I have been eating in this restaurant for years.the food is always top notch.it has to be it is in the middle of a very affluent private estate.we have got to know the owner and his sons they are very knowledgable and help you with the menu.we have a lot of banter.it truly is the best I implore you go and find out .you will not go elsewhere afterwards

This restaurant has a lot going for it. The location is leafy and quiet. The staff are friendly but not over-bearing. The food can be quite good. It is very clean and tidy. And you can have a pleasant conversation without the boom of other people's chatter. But it is a bit stuck in an earlier era of Indian restaurants. It needs to remove the darkened glass window and its decoration of champagne bottles. It also needs to introduce some modern, light Indian dishes and to think of ways of enticing back the considerable number of local Asian residents. It is an old friend and deserves to survive and thrive.

This restaurant is the best in the UK have tried several in my lifetime and non can match up to Moor Park it is the best restaurant in the on the planet. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends. Please don't miss out.

Been several times now and never disappoints.As a side note, the completely negative reviews are clearly from competitors, especially the person who said there is no parking, as there is loads of parking just outside the restaurant!

We thought we would try somewhere new and very local as a response to a flyer through the door. So last night picked up a take away (not very easy to park). Upon unveiling the contents of my Chicken jalfrezi i found it very unappealing in a muddy sauce and totally characterless. Unfortunately there was a taste to match, absolutely horrid could not eat it and all went in the bin.

The manager of this restaurant was extremely rude. The food was below expectations. I was astonished with how the restaurant treats its guests and would not recommend to anyone.

Just moved into the area & wanted to try a new Indian take away. An upmarket area with a big Asian community so was surprised to find the food so bad. Seemed to never heated & not fresh. Threw it away. Walk past every day & usually pretty empty & yet the Chinese a couple of doors up is always super busy. Will stick to the Red Klove in Northwood which is superb or Rajdoot in Ruislip. Shame, as both further away for me.
