This is a nice old town pub with very pleasant staff and a good choice of beer etc. There is a good atmosphere here plus they have bands sometimes. The food was mediocre , and not much of it , I had meatballs in a spicy sauce that wasn’t spicy at all , this was served with bread and a small salad. For £18 it was disappointing in taste and size . I had treacle tart for pudding with ice cream and once again not that tasty and a very small amount of ice cream. The choice on the menu is also very small.

Really nice friendly pub. We only stopped for a drink as dinner was already planned but a lovely place. The beer garden is quite long and unique with lots of spaces to sit and relax. The beer selection is great and the wine is reasonably priced. Can't fault it, the food looked delicious too.

Very poorly made roast dinner. Food was either burnt (Yorkshire pudding) or undercooked (veggie wellington). There was only 1 option for meat (beef), of which personally I don't like so went for the veggie wellington. The pastry of the wellington was undercooked. The bar had limited soft drinks/non-alcoholic beer or cider. The only good part of the experience was that the staff were wonderful and very kind.

Sunday lunch was excellent. Simple menu offering approx 4 starts, 4 mains and 4 sweets. The roast today was pork served with Yorkshire pudding(!), roast potatoes, cabbage, red cabbage and delicious carrots with a tasty gravy and very tasty apple sauce served in a separate small dish. Couldn't fault the meal as the quantity was large (see photo) so reasonably priced. This was followed by a lemon posset (with raspberries etc ) which was excellent. The s.o. had burnt orange tart with ice cream also very good. Coffee was ok (no decaf available though) although cool. Service is optional, the usual %s on the card machine. Can thoroughly recommend and is popular in the evenings. Note: lunchtimes are Fri, Sat and Sun.

Some of the best food I’ve ever had in a pub! I don’t want to call it pub food for fear of miscategorisation, but it’s at the same time hearty fare and much more than just that. We were spending Christmas and New Year in Hastings and so booked Christmas Day lunch at the Stag Inn on the basis of good reports. At 110 GBP plus wine it was expensive to start with. The food and atmosphere were very good with the landlady, Nicola, being very attentive. We would have preferred the traditional turkey to have been served without the pastry round it But the final bill of 287 gbp for the two of us was far too much and it hurt especially when we asked for an additional glass of ordinary red wine and were charged nearly 9 pounds a glass. Yes we enjoyed the special lunch BUT it was very poor value for money

An absolutely outstanding pub! I recently had the opportunity to attend a private event hosted in this incredible place, and what an amazing time it was! I moved over from the States to Suffolk about 5 months back, so I am still exploring England and its pubs. We had the luck to enjoy the Stag Inn on a recent trip to Hastings to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. I loved the way they handed out drink coupons for party guests to get us started. I need a bit of a nudge as I'm not much of a drinker, so sidling up to the bar and picking out something I know I'll like is vastly preferable to a tub of beers on ice or house wine. The atmosphere was fun and festive, the decor and artifacts on the walls were incredibly cool, and the patio was so warm and welcoming with blankets and a nice cosy private space out back. The landlord and landlady of the pub were also super kind and hospitable to our family including our dog who loved hanging out in the pub all day. This is absolutely in the top tier of pubs I have visited since moving over to England this summer. I really love the ones with rich history and fascinating artifacts, especially when they come with kind and attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere. This ticks all the boxes and made for a memorable weekend away for our whole family, furbaby included. What an awesome venue to hire for an event!

This pub is absolutely fabulous, quietly located in the All Saints, it is the oldest pub in Hastings dating to c. 1547 with a well preserved building. The staff here is very friendly, it is chill and peaceful here, the garden is like a hidden treasure. Don’t miss the cat mummies, they are related to an interesting history of witches and rat controls in the town back in the 17th century.

We had the most amazing food. We are lucky to eat out now and then, but I can honestly say that the meal we had, was one of the best, if not the best that we have had in a long time. The balance of flavour in the sauces and the creativity that it was presented was second to none. The chief should work in a 5 star restaurant. I can't wait to go again and again. Excellent. Food cooked fresh so really nice and hot right to the end of my meal. I had cod and chips. Son had saveloy and chips. No complaints. Chips were crispy and the batter on the cod was also crispy. Staff were lovely. Will make sure this will be the place to visit whenever in Hastings.

Poor service by a male staff member on 29 Aug 24 around 1515hrs Asked for salt pepper, was informed to go and get it at the main door Used to get better service eating inside outside your not looked time after much Onions were not cooked on hot plates, but food was fair quality Prices above average if i was waited on and the food cooked better don't mind paying extra
