Hollington Oak in Hastings

A pub with great potential, but the manager could do with some training and the kitchen staff should read orders, send out the food ordered and in a timely manner. Items were missing, food had to be chased up multiple times and the poor lady on the bar was receiving little support from her colleagues. It was not busy, the manager was having a lovely break in the garden with friends, and the chef was refusing to send out food paid for. Very bizarre. I felt sorry for the lady on the bar.

We've found this pub on our way from a trip to the seaside. It's a nice building kind of in the middle ow nowhere. The food was brilliant and cheap. For the price we didn't expect much but it was the best buttery mash I had in the pub. Pie was brilliant, definitely good quality. Portions very big and we had to ask for our deserts to be packed and we had to take them home because we couldn't even finish our mains. The service was brilliant, Bubbles (I hope I spelled the name correctly) was amazing, super friendly and very caring. It's also dog friendly and my boy enjoyed running around big garden. I would definitely recommend this pub for Sunday roast/pie and for a brilliant service and great food. Thank you for an amazing experience

Popped in for lunch on the spur of the moment. Good food for the price and a couple of nice beers. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I travelled from shoreham to visit my best friend for a few days in the half term, we had a lovely day with fun activities for the children aged 0, 3, 7 and 12 the children had an amazing time and the food we all had was amazing with very friendly staff and a lovely family feel to the place, would definitely visit again

Most of these good reviews will be from people visiting during the day but by early evening it is an absoultely vile pub since the new lease holders have taken over. Dirty everywhere, leaving dust pans and heaps of dirt just in the middle of the floor while staff are too busy drinking/ on their phones/ eating instead of serving. Over two thirds of the people in this pub are always high on coke and god knows what else, doing drugs in the toilets and phone calls doing deals and just looking to cause problems if you even look at them the wrong way. Staff are rude and obnoxious, probably just as high on drugs as their customers. This pub would do so much better with new lease holders and if you could move it to a new area out of Hollington!! Full of chavs, don’t even bother going here after 5pm (probably okay during the day as all the druggies are passed out in bed) …

The ambience and atmosphere is good. Don't try Rice with Katsu Curry It really doesn't taste good. Gammon and Egg was really delicious also Hunter's Chicken was good.

Great place for Sunday lunch really good value for money and excellent service everyone was really friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we were all happy - even producing a special veggie roast for one of us. Definitely be back.

Good food, good prices plus the staff are friendly and quick.

Nice pub just has too many televisions and music on loud. The landlady is warm and friendly. Only went there for a drink but the food looked yummy

What a lovely pub will be back soo

In the middle of a double shift I went with a hunch they did Sunday roast. They certainly delivered. Service was impeccable all round and for the most unbelievable price, I had a lovely drink and remarkably good roast dinner. Next time I’m asking for extra gravy. Couldn’t recommend more highly!!!

We went here for my daughter's 18th birthday.I will deffinatly be going back.Staff were very friendly,atomosphere was was warm and perfect for younger children.There were a selection of games and books to keep younger ones amused.The food was absolutely amazing and the best value for money that I've seen around our town.We were all very happy.

Wow what a lovely friendly pub. Such a warm welcome and lovely Halloween party for the children. The entertainment was fantastic and really felt like a homely atmosphere. Great time had by us all. Can not wait to visit again. Plus the food looked delicious will definitely be wanting to eat next time I visit. Thank you for a great party for the children.

Visited with a group of my friends on the pubs 1 year anniversary. Band was amazing, atmosphere was great, staff were lovely. We all really enjoyed our evening out and loved all the drinks & shots deal that are on offer.

Came here with friends for lunch. The waiter/barman seemed to be doing everything, and was very stressed. Due to dairy intolerance I chose the vegan burger, which on the menu said came with sauce and violife slice (vegan cheese). I didn't get this and had a rather bland meal. The waiter/barman was very abrupt when I told him initially my meal was not complete. I then checked the menu to make sure I wasn't wrong. I again approached him to say it wasn't what I expected and had a very abrupt response "well you ordered it, I'm not the chef". He hesitated to take my plate, and was not keen to resolve the issue, nor apologise. When I tried to order a drink, he said he had "lots of things to do". It was clear to see his stress levels were high, there were other customers, the phone was ringing and he seemed to be the only one serving that day so I didn't get a drink in the end and had to get water from my car being a breastfeeding mum and very thirsty! My food then came back with a sauce, but the waiter said the kitchen confirmed no cheese- again no apology or resolution. It really was a very poor meal, I felt completely excluded from enjoying my meal with others because of having a special requirement, where I was restricted from choosing from the 2 meal deal because of it. I only stayed for my friends, but really felt so unwelcome. I won't be returning.

Not been to the Oak in a few years. Since then, new owners, lovely fresh look. Friendly atmosphere, conor was a nice Chap serving, and the food was great. Mac n cheese with bacon and chicken add ons , friend had hunters chicken , both were really nice. Be back again soon with new customers for you. :)

Had been meaning to go to this pub for ages and finally got around to it. Really nice setup - felt very relaxed in our booth style seats and didn't feel rushed like you get with some pubs. Kayleigh who was front of house made us feel very welcome from the off despite not being regulars. Large menu with a decent range and it is all super cheap. Portions are good and quality of food not too bad. Would recommend.

Fantastic pub with amazing friendly staff very helpful and kind the food we had was to die for the pie is amazing as well as the katsu curry i highly recommend this pub to anyone thinking of visiting it really is a little hidden gem well done to all the hard work of the staff at hollington oak keep it up

Went here for lunch, it was our second visit and yet again a great experience. We were served by a very friendly waitress called caitlin. She couldn't do enough for us. Meal was lovely, very reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend here

The food and drink are all lovely. Came up here on a karaoke night and it was a laugh with the lads, the night felt even more special with the bar member Kayliegh I believe. She made the night more memorable. Excellent service also always had a smile on her face.

Made me throw up. Found hair in the food in my mouth. I said there's hair in my food, and they just took the plate and didn't really say anything. Asked if I wanted a free drink or dessert. I just asked for a refund and they said they'd return my food only, despite it putting my partner off, they took he's half empty plate away. Haven't felt well since and have been throwing up. Upsetting cause it was our local, but will definitely not return or recommend. Thank you for your useless and pathetic reply. Review CCTV again cause I did go to the toilet, and at home. Next time I'll send pics yeah mate. Maybe that's why we went outside to your garden cause I felt grim after that. Why would I try and steal some coke cup, I'm alright lol. And why you being so pedantic on my actions when you can't keep your disgusting hairs out of food you serve. But anyway thanks for being professional and confirming that you acknowledge that there was hair in my food, which yes unfortunately I was half way through. I'll raise my complaint.

Will not be returning for food, despite this being our local.. The food had hairs in it and caused my girlfriend to throw up once she got home. £10.99 refund, evening ruined for the both of us Would like to see it improve as it was great before Just read the low star reviews and you can quickly see how little consideration there is for customer experiences

Im came in pub for pool match and I had 3 ciders and 3 shots and bar person had some shots to and then at 10:15 I was told I couldn't have no more drink that I couldn't be serve at the bar as apparently I had to much to drink when I wasn't even drunk

Drinks were disgusting had bits floating round in it. Glasses weren't clean. Very slow service. Staff were rude to us. Food was served cold. Will not be coming here again. I don't recommend this place.

What a great day we had with the family , Easter colouring, egg hunt , bouncy castle , good affordable meals , friendly helpful staff , refurb is a massive improvement. Only criticism would be that the play are has not been replaced .

The day we visited there was Easter events happening for children and was very busy, with lots of happy children. Holidaying in the area and was look for some good quality pub grub. Found this really lovely styled pub inside and out. There is a nice little area for kids with toys and books. The downside how was the food. Best way to describe it was like an overpriced Wetherspoons with ready meals heated up and served. Presentation of the food also like it was slapped on the plate. Real shame and hoping the feedback is taken on board to fill up the empty tables that was around us.
