The Stage in Peterborough

Four of us ate here in the restaurant. Starters wild mushrooms in cream/garlic on bread. Mains - gammon, braised beef, pork belly and fish and chips. Desserts apple and rhubarb crumble. The service was excellent and food hot and tasty. Excellent portions and well priced. Only one suggestion- the crumble top needed cooking/browning more. it was pale and tasted floury. Also be nice to have some background music as only a couple of tables occupied.

The food was exceptional. My husband had the gammon - really well prepared. I had 3 tapas items - more than I could manage and delicious . I was not expecting that! Beautifully presented, tasted great and our waitress was wonderful. We will be back.

It’s a really lovely environment, very welcoming, lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. Good service, friendly and easy access

I really like The Stage for drinks, there is a nice cosy atmosphere. I have had food there a few times and each meal has been disappointing, the bao buns I had were a bit dry and not very tasty, same for the burger.

We often meet for breakfast here and when we turned up we’re surprised to find the lovely cook to order menu had been replaced by an awful buffet breakfast.

Visited restaurant last night with family . Very disappointed quality of food not worth the amount charged . Sauce with chicken very bland chicken over cooked. Apple pie pastry raw , vanilla ice cream inedible both items sent back . A real shame as I know this place used to be so good before lockdown. Will think twice before we return.

We r locals who drink and eat regularly up the stage . Sunday roast today woz outstanding very enjoyable . Much prefer havin the food plated up rather than the carvery Keep it plated 👍

Having just moved to Market Deeping we thought we would try the Stage for something to eat having been in here a few times for drinks and enjoyed our experience. This experience was not enjoyable and we most definitely will not return. Having worked in the hospitality trade and being a landlady I get that when it’s busy things can go wrong and you can run out of food but to order with the ‘manager’ to then be told they have run out is a little poor, but that was only the start. The waitress couldn’t pronounce the wines, clearly a training issue, and when our mains were brought out onion rings went all over the place and never replaced. Not a great impression but when it came to paying and knowing full well we had been over charged and being told by the ‘manager’ we are unable to see the receipt this topped off the whole experience. We were told that because the discount had been taken off we couldn’t see a receipt....what utter rubbish. I know full well how these tills work! After no apology from the ‘manager’ even though she’d been apologising to everyone else the whole time we were in there we finally got back what was owed us, by cash as she couldn’t do a refund on card....again rubbish! I was so disappointed with this whole experience as I said at the start we’ve been in for drinks and had a great experience, it really is such a shame.

I visited today with my parents and my 2 children. I called on thee off chance they could fit us in for lunch at 1pm,I spoke to a very polite young man who booked us in. Upon arrival, we completed the necessary track and trace forms, hand sanitiser was also available. Tables were spaced out,complying with social distancing. We were seated in the restaurant which was pleasant, plenty of room. We had 5 main meals,steak, hickory chicken x 2, a chicken burger and fish and chips,5 pints of orange and lemonade and 2 pineapple juices, the meals were lovely, cooked to perfection. The orange juice was very good too!! Even though they were busy we didn't have to wait long which I was surprised at. The staff were all lovely, very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble!!!! We highly recommend The Deeping stage!!! We will be returning very soon

Visited Friday afternoon via the side garden gate so we could sit outside. Lots of tables were full of empty glasses, trays and crockery. We cleared the table we chose and put dirty glasses and tray on adjacent table which already had at several other trays on it full of dirty glasses. Went into pub to order drinks. There was no screen between bar staff and Customers. I requested cleaning cloth to wipe our table once we ordered our drink and was advised a Staff member will come and do it. No one came the whole time we were there. Government guidelines advise all tables and chairs to be wiped down after every customer. However no one had been anywhere near the tables for hours due to the pile up of glasses trays and crockery. We only found out leaving the premises that they had a note book for contact details at the front door for people entering via the front door, but nothing at the rear entry. Let’s hope they aren’t the cause of a epidemic in Market Deeping. Stay away if you want to stay SAFE.

Not been in the Stage for over 10 years but the food was very good and the cask beer was too. The music was a bit too loud for us for a lunchtime but all tastes need catering for. Ordering was a slow process at the bar due to the loud music but we got there and my steak, onion and mushroom ciabatta was very good. My partner had a plain jacket potato but it was the best she'd had for a long time. Will probably call again if in the area.

Just been to the stage for lunch today. My husband and I both had the braised beef and it was excellent. The service from all the staff was excellent. Highly recommended. We will be returning again soon.

A lunchtime visit while we were in the area. The menu contains the usual pub favourites, we chose to eat in the conservatory area between the bar and the restaurant. You select what you want then order at the bar giving your table number. The food arrived I ordered a cheeseburger and my wife ordered the fish burger I have to say the burger was quite tasty and well seasoned my wife said her fish burger was nice but the fish was quite small and lost in the bun. One thing I will mention is that the staff could do with being a bit happier at work with the exception of the nice lady that took my drinks order at the start.

Really enjoyed family visit and chat. Quite good range of real ales in an upmarket style of pub. Good Saturday afternoon here!

We have been a regular customer at the stage quite a long time. We look after a disabled lady and take her there for her tea. I just want to share our experience last night with the restaurant manager named Donna. She served our orders and told us to take the rubbish with us after we finish because last time we were there one of her colleagues is complaining about the tissues we left and other rubbish. And they had a hard time picking up all those tissues. I told her we always tidy up and I, myself wrapped all the tissues in the bag last time. It seems she’s don't mind what I have said, she replied, it doesn’t really matter, we should take the rubbish because it takes time for them if they will take our rubbish in the bin. That’s the end of our conversation. As far as we are concerned, we are not slobby persons. I just wonder if they ask their other customer to take their rubbish with them, or is just us, because of our client and we are foreigners. It’s our first time to be told like that. Most of the staff are very friendly to us. So we asked the other staff about it. Said they bit surprised that she told us that things, given we are nice customers. I think, we don't deserve that kind of treatment, no one does.

I had a business meeting and needed a quiet space, this was a perfect choice. There is parking at the rear, so not limited by time restrictions in the local car parks. A warm welcome and a drink order was promptly taken and delivered. Very helpful and respectful staff. Will use again for off site meetings.

My friend & I had Sunday lunch carvery. We ate quite early but still the food was only luke warm and cold plates.

Well my last visit was disappointing but today had a lovely panini bacon, Brie and cranberry with small side salad and chips which were great very crispy, too many to finish. One friend had the prawn jacket potato very generous with toppings and side salad, plate cleared as did my other friend whom had tuna and mayonnaise with her jacket potato. Also great value! No pud but girls shared a pot of tea - huge and I had a fab hot chocolate. Great place glads it local.

Having visited The Stage in Jan 19 and having a positive experience from the food perspective I was more than disappointed with the experience today. The service which was poor was, compared to the food (runny and tasteless vegetarian tart, oversalted whitebait and practically inedible new potatoes) excellent. This was an experience one can only deal with once in a lifetime.

It is rather impressive to find several equally good pubs in Market Deeping and, again, this did not disappoint with a number of real ales that complemented the other choices in this town- so I did not have to try yet another Doombar. Good atmosphere once again.

We have been a couple of times to the stage and the food on both occasions has been great! After our first visit we decided to visit again with more friends today. The waitress with short brown hair, Middle aged was at the front of house as we arrived into the restaurant. I advised her we had a table booked and her response was “your down there to the right” without taking us to our seats or asking if we had visited before and where we would need to order etc. My friend is a vegetarian and went to request vegetarian gravy and a few portions of mashed potato for the table as that is not out on the carvery. The same waitress just looked at her and said “I’ll go tell them” and another waitress commenting “I didn’t know we did that”. We got our meals, the table wasn’t even cleared after we had finished and a dessert that had been ordered as part of the 2 course meal did not arrive. Having to request the pudding to be told they didn’t know about it . The dessert was brought to the table and still the table was not cleared! Terrible customer service today the woman needs some serious training in how to speak/ deal with customers. The food on the other hand is great ⭐️ If it wasn’t for her I would of given it 5 stars.

Went here with a big group for dinner on a Saturday night. The service wasn't great they couldn't get our order right one of the meals was missed of so that person had to wait while everyone else ate their meal. The food was good when it arrived although some dishes seemed to be quite small portions.

Had a nice quiet drink. Being middle of the week, it was nice and quiet and relaxing and not that many people about

Frequent visitors. We visited for lunch today. Lovely as usual especially the chips. Proper homemade chips. Were gorgeous!! Generous portions on all food. Thank you

Nice for a coffee and chat with friends in a lounge setting or a meal of an evening. Nice venue in the middle of Market Deeping.

Nice venue on a summers day. Went for a wedding reception a few months ago, staff very pleasant. Must go back and try the restaurant.

I have visited the stage regularly over the years and earlier this year I really thought they had cracked it with a new menu and new chef- I was wrong!

Food of decent quality, staff friendly and helpful, The Stage itself is a lively and fairly noisey music venue, so as long as you bear this in mind you should have no complaints.

I suppose the title ‘red wine served with a head’, says it all. What surprised me more than seeing a glass of wine with a red froth was that waitress didn’t seem to think this the least unusual.

Booked a lunchtime meal for a large family and friends group in early February.

There was a set menu for Valentines with several choices for each course. The price was reasonable - I think it was £26 a head. I booked based on the menu choice. For starter we had duck croquettes(2) with coleslaw and pickled cucumber, these were very tasty and a reasonable size. For mains we had steak with trimmings and peppercorn sauce and Chicken with potatoes rosti and kale in a tarragon sauce. The steak meal was ok but there was a lot of fat in the steak and it was chewy. The chicken dish was quite bland and needed something to lift the taste but it was cooked well and nicely presented. For dessert we had Eaton mess which was OK but next to no meringue in it. My partner had Pear tartan and ice cream, this was pleasant but not really a tart, just some pears and a roundel of puff pastry. Overall the food was a little disappointing. The staff were pleasant and attentive and the restaurant is attractive and themed in a sort of industrial warehouse way. The rest of the bar area is also quite attractive. I will try dining here again when it is not a themed night.

Having just got a new chef, I decided that I would take my mum. We waited about 45 minutes for food but eventually...

The food looks good and the service is very good. I usually just go for a beer as the ambiance is terrific and the bar staff very accommodating.

Hoping that this is the right pub(!) just to say that having queued outside for the bus to Peterborough, and then having disoovered it was the wrong bus stop ( duh!!) we called in for a pint and other drinks.

Having been asked to book our meal choices weeks in advance, I didn't expect processed food. The gentleman serving us was very helpful and pleasant, his female colleague wasn't.

Went in about 9 half 9 on a Saturday night intending for a nice post meal drink. A band was attempting to set up right next to the bar, meaning there wasn't spot of space and you couldn't hear a thing but middle age men trying to be 16 again!

We went to the stage with some friends on Friday for a few drinks and maybe a dance.

I booked a table for 2.00 pm for a family celebration, arrived at 1.55 and was told it would be a five to ten minute wait. That's fine I said I could see that the bar and resturant was very busy, after 20 mins I made enquiries when our table would be ready only to be told it will be another five to ten minutes, anyway it turned out to be a 50 minute wait, we eventually got to our table and was then made to wait another 10 mins before our menu's arrived, 5 people out of our party ordered starters from the fixed menu and waited a further 20 mins for the staters to arrive, well 3 of them did anyway, by the time the remaining starters arrived, people in the party had already finished theirs, I Did complain about the service and asked to speak to the Manger, who failed to address us with his or her's company , but was offered a free bottle of Merlot wine about 30 minutes later as an apology by a waitress, which was declined as no one in the Party liked red wine, By this time I feel my Family meal had been ruined. The feeling amongst my family was to just finish our meal and go home. We then had our Carvery meal which was good , with plenty of fresh greens and nice quality meat, it's such a shame that the poor service and attitude from the staff spoilt our family celebration. We did have a round of drinks deducted from the bill as a good will gesture, but like I said the day had already been spoiled. Very disappointed having booked a table and then messed about for the best part of two hours.

Encantador ambiente. Comida siempre bien cocidos y buenas el tamaño de las porciones. asador el domingo es el mejor que he encontrado. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

This is one of my favourite local pubs and after a nice walk from Werrington to Deeping it is nice to relax with a pint or two from their superb selection of real ales,including my favourites Oakham ales JHB and Landlord,but there are several others.I always get a welcome from the bar staff who are always friendly even when it is busy.The selection of bar food is very good and at a reasonable price including the usual pub favourites and a good selection of sandwiches and paninis with fillings such as steak,BLT and pulled pork with a choice of chunky or standard fries all served quickly. There is also a restaurant which essentially serves the same food. The Stage is also a hotel and has rooms.In conclusion , a superb friendly pub,probably the best in Deeping apart from possibly the Vine??

This is a self service carvery lunch with a choice of three meats. I had the turkey and my husband had the ham. Both were good. However, although there was a varied choice of vegetables, a lingering buffet does them no good. The roast potatoes were disappointing, being soggy. At the end of the vegetables was a large jug of brown hot water which I assume was the gravy for all three meats.There is not a lot of competition in this immediate area for a Sunday carvery so despite being what I felt was overpriced at £9.95 for a main course, the restaurant was full and noisy.

We have a little gem in Market Deeping. Sunday lunch at The Deeping Stage. You have the choice of 1 course to 3 courses. We always opt for the 1 course for £9.95, and what value for money that is!!! You have the choice of three meats, which is cut straight from the joint by Chef, you can have a slice of each if you so wish. Then you help yourself to roasties, boilies, 4 diferent types of vegetables,(not your normal peas and carrots) freshly made yourkies, not the frozen type, homemade!! Stuffing, lovely tasting gravy. It really is the best Sunday lunch around. Don't just take my word for it, go and have one and take your family and friends. I only ever post on Trip Advisor if something is worthy of a mention!! The staff are very nice with a smile and good service. Each time I have been I tried to put less on my plate, each time it beats me! Well done The Stage, just what the town needed on a Sunday. I look forward to the next one.

I've been here quite a few times to the restaurant and have had no major issues with food or service. In the past the chef went out of his way to make her a Diane sauce, which I genuinely thought was fantastic customer service. When the Stage has ever been mentioned in conversation I'm always banging on about the mix grill -it's absolutely brilliant! However on a recent visit the quality of the meat has gone down hill or as my Dad put it; it seemed like they were cutting corners. I also asked for a rare steak which came out more medium and was told it would take 15mins to cook another one which I declined. The waitress was polite enough and took off 2 drinks from the final bill as an apology which I think was fair enough. I'm hoping it's just a little glitch or the chef was off and they was just using a temporarily supplier, as do enjoy coming here with my friends and family.

Four of us visited the stage restaurant today.Initially I was disappointed that the 2 most interesting items on the internet menu were no longer available.Three of us had a meal from the lite bite menu:The fish and chips was substantial although a lot of the large piece of fish was batter.I chose the lasagne which was rich,tasty and very filling,there were 2 pieces of garlic bread and a dressed side salad.We will go there again although the drinks were a bit on the expensive side.

Seemed off the beaten track for us, meal was fine. Hostess was great with service just right. It wasn't to busy and booked table late afternoon on Saturday o of a long-weekend. Price seemed fine.

After trying several times to phone The Stage and book a table, I eventually resorted to booking online. I received a confirmation and later that day we headed into Market Deeping for our meal, only to be informed by the two waitresses that the online booking system doesn't work and that there was no space for us. We explained about booking online and one of the girls even shrugged her shoulders. There was no apology or offer to compromise - nothing at all in fact. I appreciate that they were busy at the time and it was not their fault, but an apology for the inconvenience would have gone a really long way.

Went in to book a table on the off chance, but even tho there was a big party that night they had no problem squeezing us in.Have eaten here a few times and the food is always very good.I had the mixed grill which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the lasagna even tho it wasn't on the evening menu they went out of there way to do it so I had one happy girlfriend for the rest of the night. After we left the restaurant we had some drinks with some friends. So thank you for a great night haven't had one in a while.

I Had a lovely BBQ chicken main meal at The Stage with family, all picked something different from quite a small menu of starters and mains, but all delicious, hot and beautifully cooked. Good prices, 2 courses were about £20 or less for each person and good portion sizes. Unobtrusive service, (can't stand someone popping over every 5 minutes just as you've filled your mouth with food!), quite to talk and have a catch up, good selection of local beers for the boys!Will definitely be visiting again soon.

I and a friend decided to eat out for my 30th birhday and chose a local restaurant the Stage in Market Deeping.I calleds a head and asked if they were still serving lunch i was told yes until 4pm.On arrival we went to the bar to ask for a table. We were greated by a chap behind the bar who gruffly told us to go to the restauarnt. Slightlt annoyed as I had interupted his conversation with a man over the bar.On arrival in the restaurant we were met with the ice maiden. We asked if they had a table for two. She schooled " Do You Have A Booking ? " We said no she dispatched us to a table at the rear of the restaurant. She had purple hair, which matched the decorations in the restaurant. Not exactly made to feel welcome.After a wait of 20 minutes at the table, I decided to book our meal at the counter on the restaurant. There a young girl all girly and giggly who was more happy to chat to her friend than take our order.I did however and awaited the food to arrive. To be fair the food arrived on a timely basis. I myself orderedstuffed mushrooms on arrival it was a single mushroom with pork stuffing on the top. Very dissapointing in first instance the menu read plural as in more than one. Not a flat mushoom with a lump of pork stuffing on top.Mains were very good. With a side of garlic bread, we left no room for deserts.Would I go again, probably not.

We had Sunday lunch from the carvery at the Deeping Stage and the value for money and food was excellent, we would have preferred our beef to have been much rarer, but I suspect we would have been in the minority for that. The vegetables were plentiful and not the usual broccoli and carrots! The waitress Yasmin was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. We will definitely return soon.

We booked a quiet table for two to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary.It was a quiet table. The menu choice presented a good choice of starter. The main course was more restrictive and somewhat traditional however the portion was large and well cooked.Service was excellent.

Very often visit the stage for a bar snack, drinks and occasionally use the restaurant to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions. Can honestly say that we have always received good food and good service. The bar meals are reasonably priced any they often have themed evenings or 2 for 1 deals in the week on certain items and some weekends they have live bands which is always good. Definately worth a visit especially in summer when you can sit in beer garden and watch river flow by.

Went looking for an all day breakfast at 11:00 a.m. on Bank Holiday Monday and found a great one here. Bacon and Sausages top quality and cooked to perfection, a couple of beautifully sunny eggs, fresh whole tomato and a large field mushroom - I passed on the fried bread. Coffee was also good - huge cup steaming hot and freshly brewed. Top notch breakfast at a reasonable price. The waiter who brought us our food was cheerful and engaging, however, the older ladies were frankly neither. Take note ladies please - it takes fewer muscles to smile and we do notice.The local competition was heaving, but the Stage was almost empty when we went in. Having been in both I can definitely say, it's not just about the food….

Recently had lovely family meal with 12 of us. The food was excellent and staff alway courteous and friendly. They all seem to have a "can do" attitude so often missing in restaurants these days. A lovely evening was had by all.

Enjoyed my meal very much but drinks are so slow they must be brewing and distill ing fresh out the back!

Liked the decor the food and the band and the staff were great. The bouncers were friendly and did not feel like you were being watched.

We had no idea what to expect when me and my husband called in at The Deeping Stage for something to eat but we certainly we're not disappointed. the food was very good, hot and very reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant and we would definitely go again?

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. I had called in the day before to drop in decorations but turned up on the night to find that they'd been forgotten and not put out. I have to say that on the whole the food was very good but the service let it down completely. I've visited before during the day and the bar staff have been pleasant but it would appear that this doesn't carry over into the restaurant as on this occasion we were made to feel completely unwelcome and had to wait over 20 minutes to even have a drinks order taken. It was a real shame as the rudeness of the staff dampened the evenings celebrations. Towards the end of the meal a group, who had clearly had too much to drink, were allowed to come in and sit at one of the empty restaurant tables and proceeded to be incredibly loud, singing songs at the top of their voices which as you can imagine changed the atmosphere, leading us and several tables around us to leave as soon as possible.

A great looking place with a pub menu, but the staff were not in a friendly mood this weekday lunchtime. We had to wait for our food, but at least it was hot and freshly cooked. No one came to ask if everything was alright, and we left disappointed with the experience.

staff can be very off hand and food sometimes good and sometimes poor Many times welcomed other ignored menu very seldom changed and when it is virtually the same as previous. Even told no baked potatoes, no prawns as they had run out - yet there is a supermarket just across the road Customer Service not their forte

I've been to the Stage quite a few times, and we keep going back mainly for the decor. The purples and lime greens are stylish, but the food never quite lives up to the promise. Sunday lunch is usually best, and if you just go to the Stage for traditional British Pub Grub you won't be disappointed. Just steer clear of anything else they try to do. For example recently I tried their Chinese Spicy Duck breast in Plum and Ginger sauce. Um, no! It was duck breast with a drizzle of sweet plum jam and a side helping of prawn crackers. Not spicy at all, and whatever happened to the ginger? Having said that the service is usually good and the pricing is very fair.

Good restaurant, but also a nice pub with decent bar meals. Has some good entertainment nights and it can very busy.

Wife and I went to the Stage with our old neighbours on March 29th, for a meal and a catch up. Chose the Stage as it was conveniently located for both of us, and that previous experience had been good.Unfortunately things got off to an inauspicious start, when the waitress told our friends they had run out of menus. When we arrived instead of ordering drinks, decided to go straight to our table as we were all hungry. The restuarant was not busy, but for a table of four people we were only shown two menus. Not a good start. Expected a drinks order to be taken quickly, but after a 5 minute wait went and got it myself. Usually hotel bar prices, but not over the top.To give credit where it is due, waitress took order by memory, and when the food turned up, as it was cooked to order, it was pretty good, no complaints what so ever. As we both had to drive, did not bother with a bottle of wine, however wine list was concise but not overpriced. Plus point there.Unfortunately the dessert menu was very limited as the waitress advised they had run out of a lot of things, but the place was not busy!!! Our friends shared a chessecake between them, but it was pretty average. We waited to see if orders would be taken for coffee, but after 10mins wait, decided to go home and have it there. Bill for the four of us excluding bar drinks £45.00. Value for money, not really. Main course food good but let down by everything else. Maybe they were just having an off night, more staff on would have helped. Old adage says " a resturant is only as good as its last meal" this one unfortunately was not the best. Overall would I go there again, possibly, could I recommend it, no, if this is their usual standard. Having said that, the place has a lot going for it and maybe this wake up call will do the trick. Last impression, old school report remark " could do a lot better".
