I wanted to share my disappointment regarding our visit to the Stag and Hounds today. We came to celebrate a birthday with family, but unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. When we tried to order, we found that half of the menu was unavailable, including some vegetarian options. We then asked for halloumi fries—unavailable. Fish—unavailable. Even Stella was out of stock. This was our third visit, and sadly, this issue has been consistent. In the end, we had to settle for chips and wings, which were overcooked. This made our birthday celebration quite disappointing. We wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that these issues can be addressed, as we had expected a better experience

February 2025 We recently decided to give the Stag and Hounds another try for a family meal, hoping for an improved experience under the new management of Benjy. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. After taking our time to choose from the menu, we were informed at the point of ordering that several key items were unavailable—this included all chicken dishes, anything with bacon, and even the steak sandwich and salads. It became clear that many freshly cooked options were off the table, with only pre-prepared dishes like lasagne which could be oven cooked or microwaved seemingly available. We understand there were problems with the gas hob and grill. While we appreciate that restaurants can occasionally run out of ingredients or have problems in the kitchen, we would have expected the staff to inform us upon arrival rather than after we had made our selections. The team seemed unaware of the situation, which only added to the frustration. Regrettably, we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. We understand that running a restaurant can be challenging, and we appreciate the hard work of the staff, but this experience did not meet our expectations.

Great local pub showing sports and occasional music events. The staff and manager are all very friendly and welcoming.

Nicest pub around the way. So much nicer than the pub opposite which is "clicky". I often pop in for a couple of lunchtime pints.

Me and dad enjoy comming to the stag for Sunday lunch. The beef is delicious. Also, the staff are very nice and if you're lucky you might catch the manager playing some piano.

Now they show football I am here a lot. Screen in garden is good. I like the wings.

I pop in most evenings after work. The food is always nice and the beers are good. No complaints here.

I had an amazing time with my friends, Marco our serve was really nice and polite and the food made by the chef Erik was delicious I will definitely recommend

Great place to come, love the cheese & bacon burger and the selection of ales. Would recommend to anyone looking for a gastro delight and can’t wait to go back again. I’m also going to book my 30th Birthday Party there.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this charming pub! From the moment my husband and I walked in, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, who made us feel right at home. We decided to try the sausage and mash and the burger, and both dishes were simply delicious. The sausages were juicy, and the mash had just the right amount of creaminess. The drinks were equally as nice and we tried a few of the cocktails. We enjoyed sipping our drinks while taking in the unique ambiance of the pub. It was lovely to walk around and explore each corner of the space, discovering little details and hidden gems along the way. The book area was a cozy nook and the piano added an extra touch of character to the space. Overall, it was a fantastic experience—great food, friendly staff, and a delightful atmosphere that made it a memorable outing. We’ll definitely be back!

Great food, great service, great value

We came with my family for my birthday and we spent my birthday hungry. The employees did not open the service for food and we got up and got the fork and knife ourselves. It was a disgraceful moment. We waited 2 hours for our food. Our food, which we ordered at 7pm, arrived at around 9pm, partially ice cold. The staff were never helpful. We used to come here often and were loyal customers but I think we won't be coming back anymore because we don't want to starve. We celebrate almost all our special occasions here but this time the experience was terrible. I think you just lost a loyal customer. 25.01.2025 UPDATE I already sent an email after reply, but unfortunately I did not receive a reply.

Went in for Sunday lunch, waited an hour for the food bearing in mind there was only a few people it wasn’t busy at all and the food was freezing. Very basic, no flavour and potato’s were rock hard. Genuinely a waste of money.

Class from start to finish, food was amazing

Waited over an hour for burger and chips and the pub was not even quarter full No apologies and when food arrived it was cardboard quality

The ambience and the front of house staff were great. However the food was inedible! Burnt, overcooked, dry. Some served was cold. The salad was bland and had no dressing. The manager reduced our bill by 50%!!

Just popped in last minute on NYE. Didn't reserve table but staff kindly let us use table reserved for later on. DJ spinning, few brews before we departed before 9 as kids with us. Thanks again to staff for accommodating us on a busy night.

We had a great time at the Stag and Hounds The burgers were huge and juicy, and the shots were £12 for 4. Win! Naomi, our server, was awesome – she was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time.

Went to the pub for an event that took place (breakfast with santa). The pub from the exterior look very nice and the interior was cosy with open fires burning to set a nice atmosphere. The cooked breakfast tasted nice, however the portion size was small and I recieved a table spoon of beans and 2 over done sausages. To be frankly honest I have had bigger portions in spoons.

Nice spacious pub. Service was good. Friendky staff. Food was good and good portions. Only downside was a customer bought quite a big brown dog into the pub and the dog was roaming around everywhere, we were trying to eat and the dog was literally touching our table with its nose!! It sat there waiting for us to give it food, I found that disgusting that a dog was allowed to roam freely around whilst other customers are trying to have a night out and eat! Don't know where the owner was either but this dog was just running around and going to other tables. On 1 table was a child who was scared of the dog and jumped onto the chair! I get it's a dog friendly pub BUT have a designated area for that. Don't allow dogs to roam freely in the pub when customers are trying to eat and have a good night out! I found it annoying.

Spent the morning here with my girls for Breakfast with Santa and wow what a morning it was . Santa was truly amazing and made everyone feel welcome with lots of HO HO HOing. Breakfast was super quick piping hot and amazing. Massive shout out to the Chefs on duty which I believe were Kerry & Mandy. Would deffo go again next year

Went to celebrate my son's 40th birthday for Sunday lunch - we were a group of five. We all ordered at more or less the same time. Two wanted sea bass and were told that they didn't have any and were offered scampi instead. Two ordered gammon meals and one hunters chicken. We were told that the waiting time was about an hour, which we weren't happy about but accepted. After about 40 mins the two scampi meals arrived. The other three meals still hadn't arrived after more than an hour. After enquiring how much longer it would be we were told about another 10 mins. Then someone else came and said that they had run out of Yorkshire puddings - really, when roast dinners are common on a Sunday!!!! We'd waited long enough by then so we asked for a refund for the three meals that never arrived and left. It's not like it was very busy.

Came in yesterday for a quick lunch on my way past, had a beer and a cheese and bacon burger served by Tiff, was absolutely lovely food and a nice chat with Tiff when she served me! Will definitely come back :)

I will never understand this place. It seems like a big pub chain has abandoned it and let it go. The last time I went was on a Friday night (18th October around 10:50 pm). I wanted to have a late drink with a friend and decided to visit my local pub. I was so disappointed to see a group of young people, probably friends of the staff, listening to very loud R&B and rap music on a large portable speaker in front of the bar area, changing the music every 30 seconds. You’re waiting to be served, but there’s only one person behind the bar while the rest are drinking with friends.

10/10 experience, if stag and hounds has 100 customers im one of them, if stag hounds has 10 customers im one of them, if stag and hounds has 1 customer its me, is they have 0 it’s cause i died

Ordered a pint of Dombar was off tasted vinegars, so had a pint of London pride it wasn't much better, management don't know how to look after real ale, very disappointed

Lovely little pub. Even better when the cosy fires are on. Really adds to the ambience of the place. My favourite server is Sarah. She takes time to talk to the customers and makes sure we are all ok. Must not forget she is always smiling!

The toilets we’re swimming in water and the language of customers nearby was unacceptable.

The food is incredible hands down im a man of steak and had the delight of ordering a burger right after since i eat alot. Would recommend if you get the chance to pass by 😁 definitely will be going again with the gang!

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Biscoff Sundae made by Diondre and Eric, and it was absolutely delightful! The combination of creamy vanilla ice cream layered with rich Biscoff cookie crumbles was heavenly. Diondre and Eric really nailed it with their presentation too; it looked almost too good to eat! Overall, this sundae is a must-try for anyone who loves Biscoff. Man, those nachos made by Diondre were off the charts! The guy really knows how to layer those crispy chips with all the good stuff - cheese, meat, guac, and salsa. Those cheese garlic breads by Diondre, man, they were something else! The way that gooey cheese and garlicky goodness came together on that bread was like a flavor party in my mouth. Diondre's got skills in the kitchen, turning a simple dish into a gourmet experience. If you're a fan of cheese and garlic, you've got to get a taste of Diondre's cheesy garlic bread. I'm already looking forward to savoring more of that deliciousness!

Man, you've got to get a taste of Chef Diondre's Tandoori Chicken Skewer - it's a flavor explosion!
