Visited here as it was highly recommended on TripAdvisor so thought I’d give it a go. We had the breakfast bap and ciabatta. Food wise it was really nice but not sure if it was a local supplier as there is a butchers on site. If they are then this should be advertised. People love eating local produce. The main thing that let it down was the cleanliness. With coronavirus going around and on the rise we now expect premises to be super clean. There was so much dust on window ledges, plug sockets and tops of seating. A lot of flies around too - you really could do with a fly killer front of house. I sincerely hope there’s one in the kitchen. All in all it was a nice morning. Nice coffee and nice staff. Just needs some more attention to detail

Have visited this place numerous times, but this is the second visit since its been under new ownership.I liked the way the menu was previously..limited but with daily specials and food was always of a high standard.Despite the fact it opened at 9am it clearly wasn't ready for service and I had witnessed 2 people arrive and leave because if this.We ordered breakfast items..all.were just ok but definately not up to the previous standards before the takeoverThey had clearly decided to do something different by adding herbs in to the baked beans which didn't work and my friends plate arrived with a big wipe mark on it that had been used some excess beans. The plates were cold and the food only just warm despite waiting 40 minutes. There was numerous flies in the cafe which was disturbing and all the usual quirky artwork and nick knacks are gone. This place has sadly lost its way a real shame as myself and numerous friends frequented it regularly.

We were a bit disappointed when we visited here this week. Been several times in the past but not since it changed hands. Pleasant environment, barn style décor. Fairly limited menu (more breakfast items than lunch) but we easily found something we liked. However despite there only being 4 tables occupied when we arrived at 1pm, our food didn't arrive until 1.45, by which time we'd had two rounds of drinks whilst waiting. Food (eggy bread with tomatoes and bacon) was ok, not amazing, decent portion. Total bill for two of those and 4 coffees was just over £20 which I suppose was bumped up by the fact that we had more drinks because of the long waiting time. It has potential, so will try again and hope that this slow service was just a one off......

The ambience of previous visits had disappeared, along with the selection of craft-food items and the walls were stripped bare of the art work, which had previously adorned them. The outdoor seating had someone been placed to be less attractive too.We still might have eaten there had it not been for the flies which were buzzing around everything and it wasn't only the flies who couldn't see a commercial, electrical fly zapper anywhere.

We called in at The Stables as a stop off last weekend having never been before. Parked in the rear car park where it shares its courtyard with other small businesses and a Merlin engine! The place itself was lovely and plenty of seating. Dogs welcome inside too which is great to see. Had a very long wait for our food despite it not seeming too busy but it was fantastic quality when it arrived. It did seem a little pricey in my opinion but this possibly reflects the ingredients used? No menu on tables, only board at counter which wasn't the clearest thing to choose from. Would definitely use again if passing though.

Called here for the first time having seen the sign on the main road, won't be the last time we go! Tucked away in the grounds of a larger property as one of several units -makes it sounds like a modern themed "courtyard" development. Until you arrive and drive in to see a truly old huddle of buildings, with rooves that look as though they've seen many summers, and winters. After the somewhat antiseptic look you see in many National Trust properties, this is an authentic old English countryside tea room. The floors slope, the furniture looks handmade and there are genuine roof beams. The scones were fresh that day, and delicious, the homemade flapjacks were succulent and tasty - you wanted to lick your fingers instead of politely using a serviette! The service was friendly and prompt and we will be visiting again soon. It's handy for the M1 Lutterworth junction 20, and offers something that no motorway service area can ever offer. (Mind you, their not open 24/7, but good things come in small measures.)

Anyone feeling peckish between junctions 19 and 21 of M1 or junction 1 of M6 really should make the detour here. Superb coffee, delicious cakes, and ideal for a light lunch - I recently had a tasty quiche served with a chickpea salad that was to die for. They sell local beer and a good choice of chutneys and the like, often made from produce grown on-site, also the hard-to-find Henderson's Yorkshire Relish. The organic butcher in the stable yard is worth a visit as are the other businesses there, and rhe nearby church is architecturally unusual and merits a look.

Having read the reviews we were very disappointed. Lovely setting and happy, polite staff who apologised for the inordinate wait for 2 slices of cake, 1 tea and 1 cappuccino. We wanted lunch but the only savoury offering seemed to be quiche (which looked delicious) with a very sparing amount of salad garnish. We didn't want quiche so were left with a selection of cakes - we settled on a tasty coffee and walnut cake which would have been much improved with an offer of single cream to counteract its dryness.Looking in the small kitchen it was obvious to me (51 years catering experience) that it would have been easy to offer at least, say, bacon or sausage sandwiches/rolls and homemade soup option. Went home and upped my dose of insulin to counteract the cake - nothing on the menu for a diabetic and I even had to request sweeteners from behind the counter for my drink! Would love to go again for the setting and lovely atmosphere - maybe they will realise that they need to cater for diabetics also. Until they do we will go elsewhere.

Everything on our plates was made with care. My son's organic steak burger silenced him with it's deliciousness for some time - and he considers himself a burger connoisseur. It came - cooked as requested - in a brioche, with a perfectly cooked pheasants egg, homemade coleslaw, beautiful potato wedges and salad. the organic meat comes from the on site butchery.I had a divine quiche - warm, slightly wobbly ( not one of those where the egg is solid and more like a well cooked omelette) with the same trimmings as the burger had. Dessert was a monster piece of perfect coffee cake. The site also has a working blacksmith, a silversmith and the butcher with added interest of the Cotesbach Organic gardens and estate for you, so all in all, a delightful couple of hours could be spent here. You could event take a quiche home - I invested in some mocktails - rhubarb mojito looks good!

Turn off the M1 at J20 and head towards Lutterworth; but at the unmistakeable "aircraft" roundabout turn left towards Rugby. About a mile up the road, turn right into the little village of Cotesbach, and you'll see signposts for the Stables Cafe. Equally, you can turn off the M6 at J1 and head towards Lutterworth, turning left into Cotesbach.Three of us went there at lunchtime today. It's cosy (there was a wood-burning stove warming the tables area). We ordered our lunches and they arrived less than a quarter of an hour later. I had a stack of haggis and black pudding served on a circular piece of bread, topped with a pheasant's egg. It was served with a baby leaf salad (nice balsamic dressing) and excellent home-made coleslaw made with red onion. The stack was as good as it gets. The haggis was well flavoured and almost creamy, with the barley grains giving the right amount of texture, The Bury-style black pudding was equally good, of a medium flavour and complementing the haggis very well. The little fried pheasant egg (a richly-flavoured first, and I hope not the last, for me) perching on the top, was cooked to perfection. Top notch food.My companions had a home-made quiche and a toasted sandwich respectively, and both remarked how enjoyable they were. I was the only one to finish with a slice of cake. I chose the Lime & Pistachio sponge, which was pretty much heaven on a plate. It was thoughtfully delivered with two forks, such was the size of the portion.A good cup of tea, apparently, though I had pink lemonade.Altogether a really good light lunch at a reasonable cost (£28 for the three of us). I will be going again. Only downside: car parking. I think there was an event going on in another part of the old farmstead buildings, and they had nicked most of the spaces. However, managed it with a bit of manoeuvring and a squeeze. There are several outdoor tables in the patio area fronting the cafe, though it was raining when we went. Come summer, it'll be delightful.Oh, and the owners and staff were efficient and friendly. I even had a brief chat witht he chef in his tiny kitchen. They are all clearly passionate about the food they serve, and deservedly proud of their cafe.

A rustic yet comfortable cafe set in a quiet village location. We have been several times, the food is always fantastic-. Our last visit we indulged in their full cooked breakfast made from quality ingredients (which was fabulous), served with a generous pot of tea, by smiling friendly staff, how more truly British can you get.

Stumbled across The Stables while looking for somewhere to stop off the M6. A delightful find: lovely quaint decor, good food and friendly staff (that were more than happy to accommodate making something simple for my baby girl). Definitely much more pleasant than a services station!

I visited today with my young children. It was warm and cosy with the wood burner adding even more charm to this gorgeous building. The staff were really friendly and the service was quick. It was a treasure trove of things to look at and my girls were fascinated by all the crafts dotted about. We had popped in for cakes- I had the most amazing cream tea, with a delicious warm scone. The girls loved their flapjacks and have asked if we can visit again tomorrow! We will be visiting soon because there is so much more of the menu that I would like to sample. Many thanks

I visited the stables today for the first time for a meet up and lunch win friends. What a great little place it is. Very small and quaint, friendly and welcoming staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Great selection of hot and cold drinks available, lovely homemade cakes, and a small selection of hot meals including quiches, salads, jacket potatoes and toasties. All the produce is so fresh, well presented and most of all very tasty. There is also lots of trinkets and foodie bits available to buy for very reasonable prices. We will definitely be returning, a great place to relax with friends.

Small and quaint place, which I loved. Not many tables so just be prepared at busy weekends. Food was fanatic, all home made food and could not fault it due to being a chef myself. Service was lovely and I felt very welcome, though it was my first visit here. I would well recommend this place. Lovely staff.

A lovely tiny café well worth a visit. Food is homemade and fresh, not the normal run-of-the-mill menu. Lovely cosy atmosphere, just a few tables and a log burner, but several outdoor seats for warmer weather. In a sheltered spot with several small artisan workshops surrounding it.

Delicious homely food in a restored barn. I keep thinking how does the chef give some much attention to each item on the menu, so that each mouthful is so tasteful. Quiche to die for ... how does the chef do it? Potato wedges that are perfectly spiced and herbed. The Stables has a good range of savories and an amazing range of sweets and other bits and pieces. Better than average range of teas. All the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Prices seem better than reasonable. A real resource for South Leicestershire. Thank you

Adequate lunch - there was definitely nothing wrong with it but slightly disappointing having read reviews and expected better. Waited quite along time for the food to be served despite being a sole diner - I had actually finished my whole pot of tea before my food arrived. It was not that busy and so couldn't quite understand the delay

Visited with a friend recently and we loved the character and charm of the place, cozy inside, staff were friendly and brunch was tasty. Definitely worth a visit! Buildings were described as dilapidated (read in an earlier review), however we didn't think this was the case at all. The cafe is set in an old stable courtyard, hence the name, and it is a quaint little place and one that we are looking forward to returning to soon.

Lovely courtyard setting. The first of one of many visits. Ordered the quiche which was absolutely lovely served with home made coleslaw and fresh salad. I make a mean quiche but yours is divine! I'd love to know your secret! Good coffee and cakes looked great but I was too full after my mains!

Returned to this little gem for another satisfying lunch. The savoury quiche/tarts are great, today I had their black pudding and bacon and the partner had spring onion and Red Leicester, the mother in law had grilled goats cheese on ciabatta toast with beetroot salad.. All great. Service equal to quality of food.

A real treat of a rustic cafe in a secluded setting yet so close to Lutterworth. Inside the cafe is cosy with mismatched chairs, benches tables and a lovely log burner. The menu is small yet covers all tastes. Handmade individual quiches, sandwiches and salads (lunch), plus 4 specials of the day including homemade soup. Theres a good selection of delicious cakes and muffins to go with espresso based coffees and tea infusions. They also serve a good range of soft drinks and wines. Can't wait for our next visit!

We visited the Stables for breakfast on 2 consecutive mornings with our 2 young children and friends who live in a local village. This is a wonderfully cosy cafe in a lovely courtyard setting. The second morning the lady serving us remembered our order from the previous day! The food was absolutely delicious and the little details such as children's books and games made such a difference. I have visited a number of times now and the service and quality of food has always been fantastic.

Seeking a quiet alternative to crowded, noisy motorway services l chanced on a sign on A426 directing to this place and thought it sounded promising. It was! I had a delicious light lunch of fresh-testing quiche and salad with excellent coffee in a pleasant quiet courtyard with interesting shops including an organic butcher. Definitely worth coming off the motorway for.

We visit this great little cafe as often as we can. If we are travelling past we always have to stop for a cuppa, lunch, whatever!! The menu may not be extensive but the quality of the food is lovely, all home made and very fresh. Service is friendly and usually swift. There are also "goodies" to buy to take away. They also have a "fill a bottle" service for rape seed oil and olive oil which tastes very good!! Also, beware of the chocolate!!!!The other shops in the complex are also worth a look. Jason's butchers meat is amazing.

We have visited this cute little cafe a couple of times recently and we have not been disappointed. The setting is very sweet, however I do agree with the other review that the other buildings are a little shabby. But the food and service definitely make up for it. The ladies are very friendly and chirpy and the toasted muffins with sausage, bacon and eggs are beautiful. The quality of the ingredients is evident in the taste. Coffee also lovely and lots of nice little treats to take away with you inside. Would definitely recommend
