The Stablehand in City of London, Westminster

This is a true gastropub. The food is inventive and very good, the service is perfect. We truly enjoyed our visit. If you want a bit of creativity, fresh ingredients and a beautiful dining room, this is the place for you!

Close to Paddington so very convenient for meeting travelling friends. The atmosphere was classic pub style and very cosy. Our food was surprisingly excellent and we all very much enjoyed our different meal choices. Our server Amy was just lovely and full of great suggestions and good banter also. All around a good London pub experience! Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere and food, as well as family friendly. Beer was good and cold. We are from the USA and were looking for a good local Pub. This met our expectations. Amy, our server was the best.

I had visited The Stablehand previously for a drink and was impressed by the English wine selection and commitment to local food sourcing. So in June this year, whilst passing through London, we called again for lunch. It was not good. The staff were distracted and inattentive (after a long wait I had to remind them to serve our drinks) and the food was very disappointing indeed. In particular, the hotpot was a reheated mess with very little taste. I don't know if this was just a bad day, given the strong positive reviews that the place seems to get, but I won't be going back.

Down in London for BST festival in Hyde Park; we stumbled across this place just on the north side of the park. Interior really cool, lots of old pictures and what look like fairly original features. Staff really friendly and welcoming. We ordered the onsite lager, fish and chips (really good!) and a chicken salad (also excellent). Made for a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere; there's also stables nearby so you can hear the hooves on the road going by 😊 Would visit again!

first visit to the Stablehand we loved this pub/restaurant it was very comfortable even after 5 hours we went for the Sunday roast, the food and service was fantastic. we only had 2 very small niggles ( the beautifully well cooked food was only Luke worm and the music got so loud conversations got very shouty and we had to ask for the music to be turned down) Dear lovely staff please don't forget its not a music venue!

Service was excellent. George and Eimeal were completely in sync. We sat at the bar and it was quite nice to see people work so well together. My drink was delicious too

You wouldn't notice such a cozy and warm environment in a side street somewhere in Paddington. Well if you do, enter and have the opportunity to enjoy the very best of local cuisine! I went here for dinner 3 times in my 6-day stay just to come back after the first time because the staff was so friendly and welcoming, especially Aimee! If you are looking for a place to eat on Sunday what better than to have a roast at Stablehand!

We were tired of the world - my head, hung somewhere in the underworld - and sought a sanctuary away from the relentlessness of the City. Tucked away, this spot boasts oil canvasses and a beautiful stained glass window bearing an archer hero from times past. Despite all of this, it was the staff that made the real difference. Aimee was an absolute star. Calm, polite, friendly and attentive she made us feel well tended for and at home. Perhaps someone will paint a canvass of her and her colleagues, to add to the heroes that already adorn the walls. Thank you!

We were served by Wadzy and she was warm and polite and consistently checked to make sure we’re taken care of. Would recommend The Stablehand because of her service.

We had a great evening with a perfect Sunday roast, great desserts and a fine selection of British beers and British wine (no kidding). Our waitresses Eimear and Aimee were very friendly and helped us make the right choices. Couldn’t have been better!

Wonderful cocktails and let my dog sit at the bar 10/10 Wonderful staff who are all very friendly and have a great sense of humour. PLUS Amy, George and Eimea - can’t fault them. All I can say is get yourself down to the stable hand and please if my dog is in the kitchen call 07432220145

We hosted a Happy Hour at Stablehand and our server Aimee was wonderful. She was very attentive and no one was ever left without a drink or food! She was kind and helped make our event a success. Thank you for all of your help and great service Aimee!

Been to this place before and it was good but not today!! Sunday lunch was not good……. Starters - a soup and a prawn cocktail, both quite good but no bread or roll served with either. Had to pay extra for that. Main courses - vegetarian nut roast, very dry and as daughter said it looked and tasted like dog meat (how does she know that!😂) and no Yorkshire pudding as listed on menu. Roast beef Sunday lunch - very dry but better when more gravy supplied, “we’ve run out of horseradish” isn’t acceptable, especially when a shop round the corner! It’s not cheap, £24.95 for Sunday roast plus 11.95 for prawn cocktail There are too many good restaurants in the area to put up with a poor experience. Won’t be returning. For balance, they did reduce bill by cost of nut roast but that’s not really the point, we went out to enjoy a nice lunch

Found this pub on a rainy night by accident. It just felt right from the moment I stepped through the door. Having mobility issues was not a problem, I was found a table straight away. The staff were very helpful and friendly, being on my own wasn't a problem. I had the steak and kidney pie which was good and I had the best bread and butter pudding I have had in a long time. To top it of I had a pint of dry stout, which was good. All of the staff were good especially AIMEE who served me at the table. I would definitely be back.

We were staying at the Royal Landcaster Hotel and found this little gem on a street in view of the Hotel. We ordered Fish and chips and served an awesome meal. Cooked to perfection and served hot. I have high recommendations for this establishment.
