We had a great two-night stay at The Springs for our anniversary. When we arrived, we headed straight to the spa, which was relaxing and quiet, followed by a lovely dinner at their restaurant. On the second day, we played a round of golf and loved it. The course is open and not too tricky, so it was perfect for us. Breakfast was included, and it was definitely worth it. You could pick anything from the menu, and we went for the full English both mornings. Check-out was at 11am, which gave us time to enjoy a chilled morning before leaving. The staff were lovely – really friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. We’d definitely recommend it, especially for couples who enjoy golf. We’d happily go back!

Just booked a last minute stay here. Faye at the front desk was so kind and accommodating and went above and beyond to help us. This was the same with the spa stuff, was very kind and happy to help which made the stay very enjoyable. The restaurant was a bit slow, but the staff were very nice, it seemed they might have been understaffed so would assume that it wasn’t their fault. Over all it was a lovely stay!

Lovely location and rooms. Enjoyed our groups sole use of the spa. Evening meal in the restaurant was good value and tasty. Breakfast again was tasty and pleasant views of the golf course. However service was exceedingly slow. Tea/coffee took half an hou to arrive. Food longer. Overall one and half hours for breakfast which is fine if you like a leisurely breakfast.

Just spent 3 nights here with friends. The accommodation was nice and the course was good, but the level of customer service was poor. They closed the kitchen on Saturday at 5pm then on Sunday we were told we couldn’t order food as a group had just ordered 20 roast dinners and the kitchen couldn’t cope with any more. We ate breakfast the first morning which was fine just a lengthy wait for it considering how many people were in the restaurant. We were being warned about pace of play immediately on arrival being told that we had to keep up with the members as they play fast, which they didn’t. Nice place but would have been nice to have been a bit more welcoming in the clubhouse. Reception staff were welcoming.

We stayed here for 3 nights 23/08/24 in one of the lodges. On the last night having to get up at 7am we went to bed about 11.30. At 12.45 am we had 2 group of young men suddenly sitting on their balcony opposite us drinking and shouting till 01.30. Asked them to tone it down but no joy. Rang the reception. Not sure if they came to have a word but. I thought these resorts didn’t allow large groups of men and women. Anyway just a warning to others. The men had no respect for families that were sleeping. Also having our shoes off our feet were black through walking about so definitely hadn’t had the floor mopped

A fabulous wow factor venue. 32 golfers staying one night with two rounds of golf. The main reason for making these 2 points which were disappointing, is if you are a large golfing group be aware or forearmed. I stayed Saturday evening and asked 2 questions: 1. My group arriving Sunday, can they get breakfast before their round? Yes, absolutely. 2. What time does the bar close? 9:45, ewsh! but you can stay on the terrace, drinking. So, I WhatsAppEd the group, bring your own beers, but good news we can stay drinking as a group. And you can get breakfast. You guessed it. Mayhem on Sunday at the clubhouse. I waited 45 minutes for my breakfast. Players arriving told no food! I was informed Always like this on a sunday, due to members and guests. It did resume normality, after an hour and my players did get rolls to take on the course. Totally inflexible regarding dining. They put a match out infront of us, which naturally added time to our round. I tried to get dinner moved on half an hour. Kitchen closes at 8, be there or dont eat was the response. I was asked to provide a list of names and menu choices for Sunday evening. I did a comprehensive spreadsheet. Waste of time. They printed off the sheet, but did not reference it. A starter and a main was given to incorrect people, the starter and main had to be paid for as correct meal cooked again. I believe it is their responsibility to deliver the right choice to the correct person. So at 10:00pm get out, no you can't drink on the terrace. So we went to our lodges and p*ssed off the neighbours. So, what was great. Lodges are immaculate, great shower. Absolutely fabulous and you can park your car at the lodge. The clubhouse and terrace are stunning and beautifully presented. The food is outstanding, large portions, freshly prepared. The golf course is a challenge, totally flat, with well positioned bunkers and true greens. Highly recommend, just be mindful of big groups and how social you want to be. I gave 5 stars as it is a fabulous venue and golf course.

Reception and spa staff are fantastic very welcoming friendly and professional. Spa and location are great. Accommodation looks modern and up market . However the bad smell in the bathroom was overwhelming an issue with the septic tank apparently which took the gloss off the stay . Also a group of drunk "neighbours " on the Saturday night who were up to 1am wasn't ideal. No staff on site to monitor this.

We stayed in one of the lodges with a hot tub. Lodges are fantastic as is the condition of the golf course. Highly recommended whether you play golf or not Edit Visited again this year as we do every year. What a turn around and not in a good way. Played four rounds during the week and was severely held up with slow play in three of them. The last rou d we walked off after only managing 6 holes in just under 2 hours. On the 6th tee we had 2 further groups waiting with us. Brought this up with the pro shop and was offered a free drink....very poor

Our second time staying here. Really love the Alder Lodge rooms - very clean, modern and comfortable with a large bathroom and a small front balcony. Easy access and parking and lots to do in the area. Staff very friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be that they seem to have changed their included breakfast policy. It used to seem quite generous but now seems tightly restricted to the same cost as the prepaid price to the point that you can now only get a filter coffee and a watered down juice rather than a cappuccino etc. Seems a little stingy and means that there doesn't seem to be any point prepaying for breakfast - save your money and keep your options open. Otherwise highly recommended.

My wife and I finally decided to dump the kids with relatives after 12 years of not going anywhere on our own and took our chance on booking a suite at The Springs Resort and Golf Club. What a great choice we have made by booking this place. We arrived late evening but we were still greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our room. We decided to book a suite and we weee not disappointed. It was tastefully decorated, spacious, with a comfy bed and two high quality bath robes folded on the bed. The building and the room had an old charm due to its history but at the same time the rooms and bathrooms brought to present with the facilities it had. The blinds were electric, there was a good size smart tv on the wall, the mirror in the bathroom had Bluetooth speaker built in (didn’t get to use it however). On top of that you get your own Nespresso coffee machine in the room. What impressed me a lot was the restaurant where we had breakfast. The wooden beams and rest of the woodwork made it very cosy. The views were beautiful over the golf course. What made me like the place even more was the nice touch the staff put by putting a reserved sign with my name on the table before we arrived for breakfast. I thought that was very personal and thoughtful. I applaud the staff for this little but wonderful gesture. All in all a great stay and who knows? Maybe we will go back again.

Visited as part of large group for a golf weekend. Overall, no major complaints. The course was in very good condition, and the lodges were nicely furnished and clean. The food in the restaurant was very good as well. Only downsides for us were the lack of halfway house or drinks buggy on the course; if you are actively catering for golf weekends then this needs to be addressed. Also, the restaurant/bar informed us that they stop serving at 10pm. I appreciate that this wouldn't be an issue for everyone but for a group of 12 blokes, this was disappointing. Given the rural location, there isn't much else around so unless you're willing to make the 25 minute cab journey to Reading or Oxford, you're a bit stuck.

Fabulous golf course and facilities. Having played Harleyford and The Caversham recently this was easily my favourite (and that’s no disrespect to the other two!) Despite pouring rain the course was immaculate and the greens quick and true. Tee boxes and fairways were equally lush. A testing course but not so difficult to put off an amateur such as myself. I never complain online. In fact this is my first ever review. However, my experience at this hotel was so bad I feel compelled to air my views. I arrived at 7pm and after waiting at reception for 10 minutes I was greeted by a night porter. He basically chucked me a key and said ‘you’re in a lodge somewhere near the end mate’ and that was it. He didn’t show me anything or explain anything which I thought was odd. I asked if there was somewhere to eat and he laughed and said ‘no’. I found my lodge on my own in the end which was pretty nice to be fair. I had to make a fuss at the Bar to get some food and the supervisor there was very nice and helpful. The gym was very basic and locked so you had to ask the night porter to help which was something he seemed reluctant to do. There was no water in the room or gym which would of been good. The spa and swimming pool area was closed. Overall if you’re arriving at 7pm or later everything is closed or difficult to use and no point staying here unless you just want a bed. It’s a real shame as the golf course is amazing and the views are lovely but the customer service is distinctly lacking. The impression I got was that this business doesn’t care that you have spent a lot of money to stay here. I hope the GM reaches out to me to apologise and improve things for future guests. What a poor evening I had!

Had to leave quickly so couldn't do anything about it, although neighbour said they had similar problems. When the showers do work they have extremely low pressure so not that great anyway. Also beds need something to fix them down as they slide all over the place with the slightest nudge.

We have stayed at many Hoseasons, however, this is by far the best, due to the lovely golf course and facilities. Our lodge was immaculate and had a wow factor. Exceptionally clean and spacious. All staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. In particular Ben and Faye. Have only given 4 stars as only downside was having to pay £15 for use of hydro pool for 1 hour. We felt this should be inclusive to residents. My husband plays golf and thought it would be a good idea if resident golfers had a discount of 10% off food and drink at the bar. Golf fees could be at a more slightly reduced rate for residents. On the whole superb… have booked again for September

We stayed for 2 nights here, the cabins are very well appointed and modern. The checkin was swift and efficient and all done with smiles, which is always nice. We had food the first night in the Ridgeway bar on-site, the food was good but the ambiance was awful! This wasn’t anyone’s fault, just extremely quiet whilst eating. To add to this, they had all the doors open at 8pm in the evening, now the day had been sunny but the evening was very much cooling down and made the environment whilst eating cold and uncomfortable. This is worth considering in the future, and we even asked for a table away from the open doors! The service was slow over dinner and this was due to having 2 staff onsite, which again was understandable due to volume of people in the restaurant at the time. Breakfast was served in the same venue, much the same issue with the service, although a lot warmer due to the doors being closed at breakfast. Again the food served at breakfast was good just like at dinner, just a little slow for our liking that’s all. The grounds of the place are beautiful and the furnishings and fittings around the main hotel, restaurant and rooms / cabins is of a really high standard and modern. We did have an issue with a little bit of dust in our room and cleanliness overall, but this was sorted very quickly by the friendly and approachable staff at reception. The spa is 100% worth a visit if you are staying here, the hydrotherapy pool they have is fantastic along with all the other facilities in the spa. Remember, you need to book the spa before you go, as it gets very busy and there is an extra charge for this. So apart from a few cleaning issues, overall I would say we enjoyed our stay. The price is reasonable for what you get, and the standard of the rooms are really high quality, bathrooms are also modern and spacious. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a very relaxing weekday break at the Springs which, apparently, used to belong to Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. (It means something for people of my age). The guitar shaped swimming pool is long gone but the timber clad chalets provided luxurious accommodation with huge comfortable beds and well-engineered privacy. We didn't find time on this visit to use the spa, but the bar and restaurant at the golf club were clean and good value for my money. Wallingford's the nearest village and it's well worth a visit with a little theatre, some intriguing independent shops, a huge antique centre, an interesting museum, and a historic bridge across the Thames. There are also a number of good pubs and, from the bridge, you can access walking trails along the banks of the river. The Springs was also in a great position for visiting Henley-on-Thames which had a terrific street market on the day we visited (Thursday). Whether you're playing golf, wallowing in the spa or exploring South Oxfordshire, I'd thoroughly recommend a few days at the Springs resort.

Lovely place, friendly, very clean room/chalet, well presented and wish I got there earlier and stayed longer. Breakfast was wonderful. Downside; coffee machine in room wouldn't work (or I couldn't get it to work!) Restaurant and bar closed early (7pm) Wouldn't mind being advised how much breakfast I could order from the menu as covered for in total room cost. But it's a really lovely place, and would return for a longer stay.

Duration: 3 nights Board: Self-catering Room: Millpond Premier Lodge The lodge was beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos. Two bedrooms, made up as one double and one twin both with en-suites. Each bedroom had a large wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, plus a dressing table with a mirror and ottoman stool. Towels, robes and slippers provided. The kitchen and bathrooms were modern and the decor throughout was cosy and industrial. Hot chocolate, tea and coffee are available in the kitchen, along with water in the fridge, and ice in the freezer. The lodge kept a good temperature, we never felt too cold or too hot. The outdoor space was completely private - the hot tub was available for immediate use throughout the duration of our stay (except for after 11pm and on the day of departure). Staff visited to check the hot tub twice a day, but never imposed - if we were in the tub when they came they swiftly disappeared and came back later. There was also a lovely cushioned seating area with a dining table and chairs too. Visiting in February meant we didn't get to use the furniture as it was a bit too cold but the hot tub was great and the views from the balcony are beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful upon checking in and during our stay. We also visited the on-site spa and enjoyed our time there. It's quite small so they only let 6 people in at one time but this ensures that your experience isn't compromised. Towels, slippers, robes and iced water were provided. Wifi was free and the connection was very good. The location is ideal for a relaxing break. Within walking distance, you can drop onto the Ridgeway trail alongside the golf course and Wallingford is a short drive away with pubs, restaurants and a few shops. Various supermarkets nearby (Tesco, Sainsbuys, Waitrose). About 30 mins away from Bicester Village if you fancy doing some shopping. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others, especially couples looking for a relaxing stay.

What a happy place! Can’t wait to come back! Hotel and hotel staff, as well as the spa facilities and spa staff were all so lovely. Golf course does require good golfing skills but they also have a range for beginners. 10/10 will definitely come back!

Just returned from 3 night break in spa lodge. The lodges are lovely, very comfortable with everything you need. Great view from balcony overlooking the lake. Added bonus of a hot tub. Staff are very helpful and friendly in both reception and bar. Just what we needed, a relaxing weekend and look forward to returning.

Very disappointing payment policy!! I asked for a latte and was advised to sit at a table and somebody would bring it over. All good so far, and the coffee was fine. When I had finished, I paid at the bar and left. Unfortunately, on my way out, I was stopped by one of the young male staff who asked me if I had paid, in front of other guests!! So why on earth don't they ask for payment on ordering!? I told him I won't be back!!

Postives: The reception staff and our male waiter at breakfast were fantastic. So friendly and helpful. The lodge was lovely inside (very warm, but you could turn the thermostat down) with lovely thick curtains. The bathroom facilities were great and the toiletries a nice touch. The breakfast overall was really tasty. Negatives: The toilet paper in the lodge was thin and cheap feeling (compared to the toilet paper in the clubhouse toilets). The lighting was poor in the car park/lodge area and we arrived in the dark, so it was a mission to find our lodge, which you had to enter from the rear. I was sold a lodge overlooking the golf course. Ours overlooked another lodge, which was disappointing, but being as we arrived in the dark, it wasn't the end of the world. My biggest criticism and one to bear in mind when booking a stay: NOWHERE on the website does it stipulate the opening times of the clubhouse. It was only when they emailed me after booking that I discovered the restaurant wasn't even open for food on a Monday or Tuesday. On emailing the hotel what my options were, they did not offer the option to rebook my stay on a different day, which I think they should at least offer. My options were to eat out or order a takeaway. Overall, we had a lovely stay, but there are definitely a few small touches that would make the stay even better.

I had the Korai Kabab Khyberi and although it was presentable and looked as though it was going to be full of flavour, it turned out to be very bland. There was no depth to the taste like there usually is with these types of dishes and the chicken definitely hadn't been marinated long enough (or at least it tasted that way). All very nice ambience and the service was relatively good but if the food isn't tasty then everything else pales into insignificance. Maybe the chef just had an "off-night" or maybe because it's the only tandoori in Streatley meant there isn't competition to keep them on their toes - I'm hoping it's the former.

Consistently good. Freshly cooked light meals, decent coffee and friendly service. Bike parking in the garden too. A great alternative to Riverside nearby

Been a few times since it changed hands and unfortunately the food quality has dropped. The fish is consistently rubbery and overcooked. It’s never skinless when we ask for it. Last week we ordered two large cod and the size difference between the two was ridiculous, and the chips were virtually a bag of leftover crispy bits - some people might like that, but we like some actual potato in our chips. Real disappointing.

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.
