Masooms Tandoori in South Oxfordshire

I had the Korai Kabab Khyberi and although it was presentable and looked as though it was going to be full of flavour, it turned out to be very bland. There was no depth to the taste like there usually is with these types of dishes and the chicken definitely hadn't been marinated long enough (or at least it tasted that way). All very nice ambience and the service was relatively good but if the food isn't tasty then everything else pales into insignificance. Maybe the chef just had an "off-night" or maybe because it's the only tandoori in Streatley meant there isn't competition to keep them on their toes - I'm hoping it's the former.

Honestly the best Indian I've had, I had monkfish masala which was superb and tandoori king prawn starter, full of flavour, beautifully cooked. Just fab.

Came here 27/09 last minute to celebrate my fiancée birthday having dined in a few times prior. Service was fab however we found the food was lacking flavour. I ordered some vegetable samosa that were stone cold in the middle, staff removed from Bol and then gave us bhajis on the house after we told them it was fine! Even the chef came out and apologised to us face to face which we really didn’t expect but are grateful for. Come the end of the meal we were offered free on the house drinks this was lovely gesture but we were both full up and didn’t want to ruin the meal by drinking more. Thank you for rectifying the issue we will be back

We revisited again this week. We ordered chicken balti (medium), pilau rice, lamb bhoona (mild), mushroom rice, kema naan and a bottle of Merlot. We spent £61. We thoroughly recommend these dishes. Good food, good service, good value.

While on a barge holiday on the Thames, we moored up in Goring. A bit jaded with pub style eating, we decided that we would have a curry but take away as we have a dog and they aren’t allowed inside, however they do have seating outside which we could have used. We thought that the prices were a little on the higher side but holiday treat and all that. We were not disappointed. WOW, all three of us had something different and all three of us said that it was one of the best curries we had ever had. The bhajis were absolutely amazing, good size and great texture and taste. I had the Lamb Halim, and honestly I’d pick that as my last meal on earth. So I’d say to anyone if you’re in the area or even an excuse to visit Goring, you must try Masooms, as I’d be very surprised if you weren’t blown away.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a takeaway, food was really delicious! Chicken was so tender with amazing flavours of lots of different spices and herbs. People are very nice and friendly. I would recommend this place.

Always love Masooms food, but dining in is less usual. Service is excellent, and the food is beautifully presented, even on a busy Saturday night!

They had forgotten or booking for having confirmed it earlier by email, but did fit us in. The wrong number of poppadoms was delivered - not even one each - but this was circled when pointed out. Starters were delicious and very sizeable. Main courses were also delicious as were the naan breads. Waiting staff repeatedly reached across diners to pick up plates etc. instead of moving around then to do it. Great cooking let down a little by the front of house staff.

It’s okay still not much flavour like there used to be but still just okay 🤙 nothing special still very bland in taste there all the same atm shocking considering the price 😱I expect much better

There is no other way around it Masooms is a goated location for great curry and a night out - The dishes never let down and are always immaculate that make you drooling for more - unless you choose the Vindaloo where you might be running for the toilet instead! The food is very well priced for such an area and My life is littered with brilliant memories that have arisen from this astounding location. Its definitely a must go if you're looking for food in Goring. Oh and the Staff are some of the kindest and welcoming people I've witnessed in a restaurant

This is a Bangladeshi run Indian restaurant; don’t bother if you’re looking for authentic Indian food as you won’t find it here. The food lacked flavour and spice, I had to ask for hot sauce to make it remotely palatable. The table staff were very attentive and I can’t fault them but this was the most disappointing Indian meal I have had in the UK.

This was a great restaurant and we had a fantastic evening. Both food and service were excellent. Would definitely recommend!

Was looking for a good restaurant around Basingstoke and surrounding areas. Came across masooms on the internet and it had great reviews. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left we had great table service and the staff were all very friendly. The food was delicious couldn’t fault a thing with anything it was gorgeous food! Everything came reasonably quick we wasn’t waiting around ages for starters and then mains like some places. The only slight problem was a portion of chips didn’t turn up but we didn’t want to say anything and left it on the bill for a tip. Think this was due to ordering a biriyani dish. Would highly recommend! Reasonable pricing didn’t feel like it was anymore expensive than other Indian restaurants. We will definitely be returning!

I ordered an all vegetarian meal, a curry, a potato dish, and special fried rice. With the exception of the rice the rest was swimming in oil.not a good result for what I was expecting. I then had to poor off the oil in order to be able to eat the meal. I was under the impression that good chef’s cooking Indian meals rotate their cooking bowls that encourages the oil to burn off! Will think hard before I ordering again. Sorry! This oil thing gets worse, when we discarded the remains of the meal into the rubbish bin and the scraps settled in the bin the oil drained into the bottom of the bin and we had to poor off the oil as it had spread all through the rubbish bin.

A really excellent restaurant, extensive menu, everything ordered looked and tasted great. Quick service for the 6 of us without being rushed. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant very clean and well presented both inside and out. Highly recommend.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had and good sized portions. My only complaint would be that the tables are really close together so you feel like like you are sharing the table with another couple.

We used to live in Goring many moons ago. On a recent trip to the area we decided to re visit Masoom's as we'd enjoyed many meals and take aways there. Overall Masoom's is a quality Indian restaurant, very clean and the service is tip top. The food is of a good quality especially the breads and tandoori. Our main course was pretty average and fun of colouring, something I don't recall Masoom's using before. My major gripe and reason for leaving this review is to warn future customers of what Masoom's deem reasonable pricing. The starters, mains and even sudries were reasonably priced and reflective of the high end Indian restaurant Masoom's is. My major concern was that we were charged £4.50 for a pint of soda water and £8.50 for 4 poppadoms and dips. So much so that I wanted to complain and have the water and dips removed from the bill BUT being British my wife told me to be quiet and just pay. I do realise there's a cost of living crisis and restaurants need to make money. I'll send this to the restaurant, increase your main meals or starters or simply just add a £10 charge at the end, charging £4.50 for a pint of soda water is just obscene as is £4.50 for 3 tepid dips. Anyway it might seem like a petty gripe but it kinda tainted the meal for me which overall wasn't ridiculously pricey - £84 for two adults and two kids with me having two pints of cobra priced at a very reasonable £5.50. As always I've tried to be fair in my review as some will think I'm being tight but others will agree.

It was our second time visiting the restaurant and we were pleased to find the same delicious food, pleasant atmosphere and again the fantastic service. It's a long drive from where we live but it is definitely worth it 😀

The food is very good. The service is terrible. Our waiter could not remember what we ordered 3 times and then one of our main courses didnt arrive on time. But the food when you get it is brilliant. The place is clean and lay out is COVID friendly. Big plus points for having a few non alcoholic beers choices as well.

I cannot praise Masoom's highly enough both at the Goring and Wantage restaurants. I made a schoolboy error of ordering my takeaway from the Goring restaurant instead of the Wantage restaurant. This was no problem to Masoom's, even though my food was ready at Goring, they cancelled my order and cooked it at Wantage. Amazing service, they did not make me feel foolish and only wanted to help. The food was 5 star as well, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. Thank you so much to all involved. I am grateful.

Really poor. Two starter dishes were the wrong ones (not what we ordered) the spinach looked and tasted like it was cooked from chopped and frozen, cauliflower smelt horrible, pappads were greasy, pilau rice was plain boiled rice and the monkfish was well overdone and everything rather padded out with onion. Oh.... and I grew up in Bangladesh - so £40 down the drain and shan't go back

Really great flavours and good service. Taking a great effort on the Covid rules too 👍 Has a takeaway recently too & was just as good - highly recommend the jalfrezi, delicious. Hopefully takeaways still possible during the latest lockdown.

Ate here on 09/10/20, booked online which was really straightforward. Restaurant was covid secure and managed well to get to my table. Service and food was superb, I had a vegetable biryani and garlic naan which were cooked really well. The veg curry that cam with the biryani was tasteful and not greasy either. A very enjoyable experience.

Busy but seated immediately, drinks were offered and brought very swiftly and similarly all of the service through the meal was on point and quick, meal was very good, tasty, heat hot and nice sized portions! On the whole very pleasant and would definitely go back if in the area again👍🏻

Absolutely amazing gorgeous curry's and delicious after eights a wonderful experience for all in my party wich was fairly large around 10 people went some time ago however I untrust it will still be top notch.

My pregnant wife got food poisoning from here. Was meant to be a treat for my birthday. 5 days in bed for her. Called to tell them. Was treated with suspicion and offered only a replacement for her main meal. Very very poor.

THE best Indian food I've ever had! I've loved this cuisine since I was a teenager and I've gone to Indian restaurants all over the U.S. We ordered simply, tandoori chicken and naan for me and lamb vindaloo for my husband. So delicious! I don't know what they do differently than they do here in America, but it was a step above. We were on vacation there in January and went in about 40 minutes before closing, but the staff welcomed us and were just lovely! The service was wonderful, the waiters so kind and attentive. The only bad thing is that I can't get Indian food this amazing in America!!

We were a large group, so you usually can expect the standards of the food to slip a little. Well Masoom's did not disappoint, not by a tiny bit. Freshly cooked, all orders were correct, and the spice was just right!

We are staying locally for a couple of days. We saw the Restaurant earlier today and decided to book. The food was absolutely fantastic. Well cooked and arrived hot. Portion size is very good as well. I really cannot think of a single thing to complain about. This is first class food.

Always a lovely meal here! Either take away or a meal in beautiful everytime. Come here for family birthdays aswell service does not change always to a great standard. Staff very attentive not one bad thing to say about this restaurant.

Probably the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The food is phenomenal and the staff are so friendly. I like my curries hot and they go that extra mile make it how i want it. If you like your curries then this is the place to be. Easy 5 star. Also very reasonably priced.

The place smells amazing and the staff was very welcoming. Good Indian food and excellent Naan bread. I have had better, hence the 4 stars but we'll be back as we ordered dry dishes when the ones in curry sauces smelt so good and might have been a better choice.
