Very polite and very good fish and chips!!

Recently moved in to the area and was highly recommended we try the local chippy, many people claiming 'the best in Didcot'. And I have to say, I think I agree! Very fast and friendly service with clear covid precautions in place, and the chips were as good as any I've had before! Will go again!

Awful burger probably the worst I had. Including from some sketchy vans lol. Chips were ok though . Yes it is definitely the correct chippy. Maybe a ply to divert the poor review

The chips were dry and mainly end of potato cuts

Food was really bad couldn't eat it, never going there again.

Just had fish and chips at Smarts. Fantastic portions and both tasty and very good quality. .....and visiting from Lancashire, that's praise indeed!!!!

This place has really gone down hill, even though cooked to order, we had cod and chips, the batter was heavy and extremely greasy, which then soaked into the fish which gave it a greasy taste. The fish was grey in places, chips were average. Overall has left a heavy, greasy and repetitive taste in our stomachs/mouth. And to top it all off, not the cheapest either!! £ 3.50 for mushy peas, where do they get their prices from???? Definitely won't go there again, Churchills from no on!!!

Friendly team and great food. Always a quick service, compared to experiences of waiting for long times at another larger chip shop locally. Highly reconmmend.

Worst fish and chips with curry sauce I have ever had, Yuck! Greasy, horrible and the fish had a weird taste to it once you got past the thick greasy batter.

Disgusting how this gentelman first put finger in the nose then preper burger for customers without gloves. Never more.

Ordered Sausage and Chips and an extra portion of chips. I was really dissapointed, because the chips looked and tasted old or yesterday's chips. It really wasn't their normal standard. Most of them very dry and shrivelled. Sorry to say this if you are reading but I don't think I will coming back for quite some time!!!

I haven't been to Smart's for a while, but my daughter said we should support the small trader. So rather than the one on GWP I went to Braenose Road. Glad I did. OK the batter on the fish may not have been quite as crispy, but the rest was great.

First time in this chipy and very bad experiences the owner (woman) was insolting the customer in front of me in her language she should be more careful and be grateful to have customer to come in her shop over all food was not that grate to over priced will not come there again

Always get my fish and chips from them. Always hot with plenty to eat. Plus the owners are friendly.

Fish was fresh, if a bit oily. Portions are big. Curry sauce was bland. Kids enjoyed the chicken and mushroom pie. Owners were not as friendly as reviewed by others, but maybe an off day.

Being in the 'vulnerable category' I was unsure how I would manage to obtain the treat of the week. I need not have worried. I phoned the shop on the Broadway Didcot , explaining the potential difficulty as the shop is quite small. No problems - having let them know the time of collection and my order, the F & C were brought out to my car that was parked outside the entrance. Excellent. As usual, the fish and chips are fantastic and a we enjoyed the unexpected treat. The price is very reasonable and portions generous. Well done to everyone. Hope to see you face to face soon.

Pensioners size fish and chips not available on Christmas Eve. Staff/Owners unfriendly will not be going there again.

Whether your choice is fish or a Pukka pie you cannot go wrong with Smarts. They can cook to order and offer kiddie meals and curry sauce

This is a nice Fish and Chip Restaurant which serves up lots of delicious sides. We always have curry sauce and mushy peas,but there is so much more on offer.

Best Fish and Chips in Didcot! Fresh and beautifully cooked Haddock to order and scrummy chips every time! Been coming here for 4 years, tried others on odd occasion but always regretted going elsewhere! Family run shop who are lovely 😊 Free parking put the front but this is very limited so we tend to walk over as it's not far. The front door is flat so I believe it's wheelchair friendly however I've not tried it myself to fully comment on it. It's takeaway only so no restaurant or toilets here fyi.

Smarts fish bar have very good fish, well cooked and not too greasy. We buy from them a few times a year and generally enjoy their food. I have given them 4 stars this time, as the chips that came with our fish were rather poorer quality than usual, having many small bits that one would not eat. This is not the normal standard for the chips.

Popped into here for a light lunch.The staff were very friendly.just had fish chips and curry sauce. They were cooked to perfection. It took all my willpower to finish the chips as there was so many,and really tasty.

Excellent place for local fish & chips including burger, less wait time, generous portions, not pricy and 5* Hygeiene rating, place is always clean. Family run bussiness :) not once i had a bad takeway frm here.

Lunch time work treat. We ordered 3 Large portion of chips for 8 people and there was more than enough, a whole packet more than enough to be precise! Lovely tasting chips too!

Been in Didcot for about 20 years renowned for big portions usually run by families from Madiera ? used to be the case nice hot good quality fish and chips and virtually anything else take away.

Best value chips in Didcot! A small portion is more than enough for two hungry adults! The quality can vary but 9 times out of 10 they are great.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but the faint smell of the cooking oil inside is divine. I have been here for a fish'n'chip supper a few times on a Friday or Saturday night and the chips have always been tasty and fresh. The fish was freshly cooked to order and came in a lovely crispy batter that wasn't soggy. I ordered a kebab meat and chips (elephant leg is round the back so is not visible) and the meat was hot and moist and tasty, served on a bed of chips with my option of garlic mayo & chilli sauce. It's a great chippie, run by a family originally from Madeira who will have a nice chat with you while you wait. If you're reading this then you care about quality, so why not give them a whirl...
