Great family pub, play area, super friendly staff and ambiance

A very warm welcome and amazing service and food. Had the trio roast - so much quality meat, all the trimmings and an unexpected serving of cheesy creamy leeks - the icing on the cake! Will definitely be returning.

Really great place not only to drink my beer but also to eat well. The menu is unusual and unusual in a positive sense, but the prices remain reasonable. In addition, extremely friendly service. Clean toilets! We were pleasantly surprised!

Thursday night is steak night. They do an amazing tomohawk steak with all the trimmings, really good value and a lovely bottle of wine included in the price. We'll definitely be back.

I just popped in here to meet a friend for a drink after work. The pub was busy and quite noisy, nice place though, loved the textured wallpaper/covering

Food was good but no wow factor. Was told pie of the day was steak and ale but ended up with chicken and something in a white source. According to the bill, we were served the incorrect wines too - pinot noir instead of Shiraz. So you get what you're given??

Quite possibly the best Bottomless Brunch I’ve ever had. Ability to mix drinks according to taste and delicious bottomless platters accompanying drinks. Staff were extremely accommodating even when we got a tad loud! Would highly recommen.

We went for Sunday lunch. Staff were fab. Anna and her team are doing a great job. One of the young girls had to deal with a lady who was very rude and she dealt with her in a very professional way. Had sandwiches and a pint for lunch mid way through a walk. Good sandwiches with some chips and salad, well kept beer. Sat in the beer garden watching the Chinooks from RAF Benson. Lovely pub.

Service was atrocious, very rude staff and rude manager. Me and my wife was spoken to like children, staff huffing and puffing when I asked to amended an order, and the manager was very rude and obnoxious when I asked her if I could see a break down of the bill! Will not be eating or drinking here again.

We decided to go here after a walk and were pleasantly surprised . It is a lovely pub, with a lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. Our lunch was excellent. I recommend it to anyone.

Been here a few times now, never had a fault with food. Love the décor in the pub, it's a lovely little place!

Food was ok. Didn't feel that the lady in charge should be telling us they had a large party booked but didn't want to pay extra staff. It took us a long time to pay as they were so busy. Very frustrating. 😔

Just a really, really good pub. It's excellent without seeming to try too hard (which takes a lot of work in the background). The food is good without feeling you're in a restaurant and not a pub. The staff are super friendly and helpful. It's dog friendly. The decor is eclectic without having the impression that someone's just bought a job lot from 'Quirky Rural Pub Inc'. You just want a quick drink ? You won't feel like you're getting on the way of people eating. Want some food? You can sit back and enjoy it without worrying about spilling crumbs on the table cloth. Getting that balance between food and wet trade is so hard. The Shepherds Hut does it. Excellently.

3x fish and chips, 1x butchers bangers. Fish was great. Sausages not but onion gravy rescued these, A great place to meet up for a drink and meal.

Went with friends for Sunday lunch. The pubs a great cozy traditional place. The staff are great and there’s a good selection of drinks. The Sunday menu was great and we all enjoyed our Sunday roasts. Would definitely return.

Expensive drinks and food but lovely setting

Brought Mum out for a treat, it’s a bit of a drive for us, but the service and atmosphere here always make it worth while. Did not disappoint again, food was piping hot, plentiful and very tasty, we will definitely be back again.

Lovely lunch at Shepherd’s Hut. I bought a voucher from Jack FM back in May and luckily we picked the perfect day to have lunch. The garden is a sun trap. Lunch was fabulous, good old fish and chips and scampi and chips. The fish had crispy batter and the fish perfectly cooked, the scampi was too. Dessert was chocolate fudge cake and the crème brûlée, both were scrummy. This pub was our local a few years back whilst being based at Benson, it was fab then and still is today. Well done Fluxy & team.

Having occasionally visited the Shepherds hut over the past 30+ years, though now no longer live in the area for the past 27 years 😂 it’s always a must stop on our jolly over to Benson. I’ve not eaten there since 1991, but thought I’d treat my other half to a birthday lunch recently, as the menu always looks very tempting when we stop. My partner had ham, egg & chips and says it was the best he’d ever tasted, melted in the mouth & I had a halloumi burger, it was absolutely amazing, couldn’t get enough of the sauce and can’t wait to go back! Lovely, friendly atmosphere and a great place to sit & watch the world go by. You can usually judge a place on its toilets and they’re lovely & clean. Thank you!

Can't say mich about this place as it didn't serve good all day so didn't stop although the manage was was helpful in most of the direction to another place we drill didn't find it , ended up at mc D.

Lovely looking pub, nice beer; but expensive food and really quite ordinary. Soup of the day with "rustic bread and butter" £5.50 (2017) but never got the bread even after asking/reminding staff for it.

Visited at short notice, our waitress was a wonderful young lady who put up with our tiresome request happily to move table to one where we could tuck our two little dogs out the way, Food was lovely, Steaks really didn’t need a steak knife, chips like roasties, perfect… lovely puds, as our daughter has moved in up the road we will be visiting her often with such a cracking local 😄

No-one makes a better Sunday roast than your own, so to finally find somewhere that beats it is amazing! Just the best, all fresh, hot, tasty with all the trimmings and good value. Def book to avoid having to wait another week!

Came for bottomless brunch with a couple of friends… cannot get over just how much fun we had! Anna (hostess) never let our glass go empty, the food was so delicious that we ate far more than necessary and had to ask the chef’s! Darren if you’re curious! Bloody excellent 10/10 recommended

Definitely worth a visit the roast dinner has to be the best in the area and if you cant manage a large plate the do a smaller portion for just £12 will definitely visit again

Heading back to our hotel from Henley we were looking on TripAdvisor for somewhere for dinner as due to Covid restrictions the hotel restaurant was fully booked and came across the Shepards hut.Gave them a ring and were able to book at the last minute.A warm welcome when we arrived and found it to be well laid out to meet Covid restrictions Not only a warm welcome but the best meal we had during our week away. All of us enjoyed our food from decent menu choices. I dont usually pick risotto but decided to for some reason and what a great choice it proved to be.Family live in the area so will definitely be back when we are down south again when we can visit them again.
