We were there on the 29th March, table of thirteen, how impressed I was with everything, from booking to the the final payment, we had to pre order our meal because of the amount of people, it was very well organised couldn't fault the professionalism, the food was excellent, very friendly staff,everything went so smoothly, thanks for a great evening, definitely book again tgsnks

We love the food here so much we had our wedding reception here just after COVID and had an exceptional experience. The same service continues to this day, yesterday we had a great meal and our waitress Neave provided us with fantastic care. My wife has a citrus allergy and Neave triple checked our meal and provided suitable alternative to the rib dressing so my wife could enjoy her meal. A magical place and a true british country side feel. The restaurant menu has a good selection of international dishes. There is outdoor seating with a nice view and I def will go again in the summer. Highly recommended!

Lovely place. Never been before. Was there for a private function but I'm looking forward to going back for a meal. Food was delicious and the place had a lovely cosy welcoming feel to the place.

Amazing place. Went there for my mother’s birthday and have to say the staff are very attentive. Special shout out to Mrs Gash, think she deserves a raise. She treated my mum to a birthday dessert without being asked and gave us an all round incredible service from start to finish. Hats off to Mrs Gash she really does ensure her customers are happy and enjoy their entire evening.

Really love this place! The food was excellent and the staff were super friendly, they are dog friendly and were so sweet when helping my little one pick out his food choice and providing entertainment for him.

Great weekend break for our anniversary. Had a small issue with the room but was moved without any bother to another! Service was great, nice vibe and great food!

Atmosphere was great, staff were fantastic, they could not have been any more helpful and polite. Meat feast sharing platter was brilliant, shame there was no boerewors or biltong anywhere on the menu. One of guests stepped out of their comfort zone and tried the Bobotie - it was brilliant. My only complaint was the surf and turf, for £35 you could have done better than 3 tiny pre-frozen prawns, the rib eye was flat with no real flavour. Besides this, great evening, will return.

What can I say, the food was absolutely divine. Not one fault, the South African Meat Feast sharing platter was perfect. Service was warm and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to everyone who I can.

We organised our 50th+60th birthday and wedding vows renewal. Our 18 guests were all delighted with the fresh and delicious food from our hot buffet. The service was impeccable. We were looked after and everyone was taken care of. Great atmosphere: cosy and warm that made our day very special. A massive thank you to all the staff. 5 big stars!

We went to lunch yesterday and I ordered the vegan something mountain burger!!!! Big mistake !!!!! I was expecting it to be home made but unfortunately it was worse than a Mac Donald’s! Obviously frozen from a packet reminiscent of a Birds Eye frozen burger! The bun was dry as old bones and the chips well frozen and also dry as old bones !! We didn’t have time to go elsewhere so had to force some down but left most of it !! never again!!

Booked a table for 10 of us for Sunday lunch and the food was amazing. Majority had the carvery and it was one of the best roast dinners I have ever had and reasonably priced too. Mixture of adults and kids and something for everyone. Will definitely be coming back. Service was excellent.

Had fish and chips meal last night. The fish was overcooked and to hot to eat. However, I have received an apology and complimentary voucher for two main meals. Thanks it is very much appreciated.

Very keen on getting a service charge for dishing out 2 meals and 2: drinks Om a wake there was an £85 service charge FFS sake- it was a buffet so food was merely put out and plates cleared later, No-one was there to serve coffee ....so where's the "service" to justify that charge?

Good food, lovely garden, easy parking, lovely old building with oak rafters. Islay whisky selection was non existent though so loses a star. Update June 24 — still no decent Islay whiskeys Also need to bring back the steak and stilton salad that was a winner for the summer. Was looking forward to eating it again this year. Burgers best in Reading though. Seafood pizza by very good too.

Had a lovely meal here for 2 last night for my partners birthday. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was fresh and so tasty we will be coming again! We didn’t stay so can’t review the rooms.

Came here for my birthday dinner and was absolutely incredible, can't recommend it enough. The staff were amazing and the food was fantastic had the bobotie and definitely wanted to steal the recipe but for now I'll have to settle for going back and having it again.

We had a retirement leaving meal for a friend the atmosphere and meal was fantastic would highly recommend

Lovely Sunday lunch here today. Carvery was amazing. Staff all lovely. The pub is much bigger than it first appears and the beer garden is beautiful. Will be going back!

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Parking was very full - only downer. The ribs were incredible! Seabass was lovely apparently. Great country pub, almost no bus service so need a car to get there.
