Booked a table for 4 and two dogs in the snug, which is a nice area. Whole place is dog friendly, with water for them delivered to our table. We had the set Sunday lunch, rare beef and pork. Lovely selection of veg, all very tasty, although my pork was very fatty. Nice puddings, decent wine. Only 2 non alcoholic beers, both lagers, which was a shame. Friendly and helpful staff, although slow service - we would not have completed 3 courses in the 2 hour time limit.

Great pub with excellent ales and superb food. Very welcoming and friendly staff and a nice pub environment. Obviously a popular haunt for the locals as well. Food was excellent and freshly prepared and the lunchtime set meal was particularly good value. We went there twice on our holiday and were very impressed on both occasions. Highly recommended.

While away on a weekend break, we were looking for places to eat out. We stumbled across the springer spaniel. Initially we called to enquire when they stopped serving food due to it being a Sunday. The lady on the phone was very polite and helpful. We then booked a table for 7:30pm. After arriving 15 minutes late, the lady that greeted us, welcomed us with a smile and seated us at a table in the restaurant. The setting was beautiful and the atmosphere was amazing. For starters, we ordered the black pudding scotch egg and the exotic mushrooms. Both of these dishes exceeded our expectations! For the main, we ordered the cheesy pasta steak with cheesy garlic break, which was a new dish on the menu and the tower burger with a side of fries and coleslaw. Again, both of these dishes were delicious. Due to neither of us drinking alcohol, we asked the waitress if there were any mocktail options. There didn’t have any on the menu but they were more than happy to make some for us and they were delicious. We even got two to take away. Over all, the experience, food and service in the springer spaniel was amazing and we would like to thank everyone that made it a very special evening.

Lovely atmosphere, staff were attentive and friendly. In particular Mia who had a good knowledge of the menu and was able to provide recommendations and our meal was delicious. Food came out timely and very good quality. They’ve been incredibly busy, but this did not affect the standard or the service.

A lovely Sunday lunch - well cooked, lots of veg, fantastic Yorkshire puds. Staff very attentive and friendly. Only slight disappointment was the strawberry sundae desert - looked like it had just been thrown into a Coke glass, it was 90% strawberry ice cream (and not nice ice cream ..), a thin layer of cream in the middle, maybe one sliced strawberry, and something hard at the bottom which I couldn’t discern. That was it, no toppings or anything to make it look appetising. As the rest of the meal was great, can’t understand what had happened with the taste and appearance of the desert. Would definitely return though, but probably avoid desert.

Always a good eating experience. The menu is interesting, the children's menu is the most varied I've ever seen, and the food is always exquisite. There's a sunny garden at the back and some swings for younger children.

Lovely pub, incredible food for a late Sunday, even tho specials were out and roasts were no longer serving we had the Trio of Fish with mash and samphire (delicious and very gourmet!) Plus the chicken burger which was epic! Go forth confidently. Cute garden for outdoor dining too.

Missed cut off time for kitchen even though Mia very kindly kept it open for an extra 15 minutes.. A lovely cosy pub, with very friendly staff. Dog friendly too.

Lovely pub, amazing food, we took advantage of their 2 courses for £20ph, the quality was fantastic, I had mushroom risotto that had so much flavour, to start tomato and mozzarella with one of the best pestos I have had. Coupled with friendly exceptional service I can not recommend the Springer spaniel enough. Bonus if you have a springer spaniel for photo opportunities.

Bit weird sat in the fireplace wearing a tee-shirt of flames table no6, service was excellent, I had steak which was also very good and a brulee, but I added an addition of honeycombed ice cream to take it to the next level, fireplace was in Cornish and english

A good menu selection available. Prices for mains were between £16 to £25. This seemed over priced given that the mains did not come with vegetables or salad accompaniments. Service was friendly and proactive. My garlic allergy was dealt with without issue. The pub is obviously popular and bookings are recommended.

Have driven past this pub many times but actually went there last night. Right from walking through the door and being greeted by a lovely young lady we knew our evening was going to be great. The food was excellent very tasty and lovely and hot. One of our group was gluten free and the waitress went out of her way to explain the different choices on offer. The two young ladies who waited on our table were lovely, everything with a smile nothing was too much trouble. We had a smashing evening and will definitely be going there again very soon. Can't recommend it enough.

Nice cozy and dog friendly restaurant. The service staff is very friendly and accommodating. The menu is everything you would expect in a pub, but with a little something extra. The starters could have been served with a piece of bread to really get everything from the very tasty starter on the plate. 😀

Spontaneous visit, very good selection. I had vegan burger but for once, the waitress actually understood dairy intolerance as I'm vegetarian but dairy intolerant. Lovely meal. Husband had stack burger which was large but he cleaned the plate. Agree waitress was great.

My Mum and I visited The Springer Spaniel on our way back from St Mawes. It is a great spot off the A30 for a mid journey meal, but also has a friendly feel that it was would be lovely for an evening meal or Sunday roast. The food was delicious. My Mum had the fish and chips and I had the beef and mozzarella sandwich. The menu had lots of great options which made choosing a struggle! Victoria and her team went above and beyond on customer service. They were friendly and very attentive. I’d highly recommend The Springer Spaniel to anyone in the area or is visiting!

Really brilliant pub. Super dog and kid friendly - dogs allowed in all areas. Board games suitable for adults and older kids, and a play area outside that was suitable for our nearly-4 year old. The food was excellent - definitely a notch above your standard pub grub - and the service and the staff were brilliant too. Relatively small inside so recommend booking in advance even in week days.

It would be easy to drive past this pub and not think much of it, but that would be a mistake. The food is AMAZING! The home made apricot chutney is so good that I wanted to buy a pot. Sadly, not possible, but they really should consider offering this. Myself, my partner and my dog visited for dinner and my dog was made as welcome as we were. They provided her with her own water bowl and the staff bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable. Very happy with our visit and next time we're in the area, we will make a point of visiting.

Dropped in for my husband's birthday whilst on holiday. Hadn't booked and it was a Sunday. They fitted us in and made us feel it was no problem. We both had the beef carvery. Massive Yorkshire pudding and melt in the mouth beef. Bowl of delicious veg, kale, roasties, carrot, green beans, cauliflower cheese, roasted parsnips, broccoli - all fabulous. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. This is popular with the locals so booking is essential. Fantastic food and extremely good value for money at £27 per head all in with drinks.

A wonderful pub on the outskirts of Kelly bray/ Launceston. Nice sized carpark in front of the pub . On entering was welcomed by a friendly member of the team who gave us a choice of tables to sit at. Great choices of drinks and bar snacks aswell as a lunch/ dinner/ side order menu aswell as the very popular Sunday menu. Nice open bar area with a more intimate feel further into the pub for those cosy lunches/dinners. Another area with tables and also a bookshelf which also has boardgames for people to use, which is a great idea. There is a beer garden for those nice spring summer days and evenings. A perfect place to have your special occasion here whether it's for 2 or 12 people, they have your every need. Dogs are very welcome here and are fussed over as much as their owners 🙂 Very clean, very friendly and extremely welcoming. Wonderful staff indeed.

My partner and I have visited twice in one week! First time was just for drinks, beer for him and cocktails for me! The selection on offer was great, lovely atmosphere. We then rebooked for dinner after seeing some lovely looking places of food pass us on our first visit. Let’s just say it didn’t disappoint! Similarly, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for the girls waiting on us. Worth pointing out on both our visits the staff behind the bar and on the floor were just wonderful, so polite and accommodating! Such a credit to this place. We both left saying we’ll be back, and we will!

We kept seeing this pub as we drove past but finally popped in on a very rainy day. We only had a drink - a good Merlot and a very well presented and delicious Bloody Mary - but will be back to try the food. The menus look good and the reviews reflect this. Highlight of our visit was the excellent professional and friendly service from Mia, who is a real asset to the pub and a great ambassador.

A solid 4, the only observation was that the seats could be more comfortable for a 2 hour dinner sitting, the mushroom starter dish needed more seasoning and the mixed fruit compote was a strawberry cut in half. Other than that it was first class highly recommended.

We visited on the 20th of March for my partners birthday meal, and the food was amazing and the experience was topped of by a first class service from waitress Mia who was very attentive throughout the meal and a delight to be served by. She was a credit to the buisness!

Welcoming GastroBar pub where our dogs were welcome too. The food was ok/good - pork belly was a little dry. The main issue was the size (lack of) of the ‘Fish Wreck’: ok portion of haddock, 2 Panko prawns and the tiniest sliver of bream (from the tail). This seemed particularly mean considering the price. We did tell the very good waitress who dutifully said that all feedback was good feedback and that she’d pass it on. It was a shame really as it put the dampeners on an otherwise pleasant experience. Would I go again? Doubtful - definitely not worth the price paid.

Lovely, slightly unusual food. We loved the prwns with marmite. Sounds weird but it tasted amazing, and the brisket melted in the mouth.

A late booking, but we were happy with a table in the bar area. Three different meals ordered, all of which were lovely. Slight mistake with one of the sides, which was rectified on request. Friendly and efficient service; we were kept informed of any wait times. Lovely atmosphere.

I don't normally do reviews, but on this occasion I feel I have to. We spent a lovely six-week vacation in England, staying with family in Tavistock, who took us here for a meal. It was busy, but the Christmas food was scrummy and the atmosphere excellent. The wee girl who served us was especially polite and charming. During the course of the meal, I overheard a member of staff talking to guests on another table. All I can say is that this woman has a rather unfortunate manner - and probably doesn't know it. Later, the same woman was taking payment for another table and again, I thought her manner was most condescending to the poor couple - and my husband agreed. My daughter suggested we eat here as she has had a good experience in previous visits and I was astonished to learn that the woman in question is the manager! We own a guest house in Edinburgh and we train all our staff to a high standard, which includes speaking to customers in a polite manner. In spite of this manager, the staff we interacted with were impeccably mannered. When we visit again, I'll suggest we eat elsewhere, as it took the shine off the night.

Unfortunately our lovely meal was disrupted on 4 separate occasions by waitresses reminding us that we need to leave at 7pm. The food arrived late, so we only had just over an hour to eat our food. We were sent an email before hand telling us this and we did leave on time. However, I would much rather the old Cornish pub we used to have where you were made to feel welcome and not just for the money. I even went to say thank you as we left before 7pm and the waitresses completely ignored us!

Trying to be as positive as possible. We had our friends down for the weekend and thought we would try the Springer Spaniel. Recent reviews looked good. We arrived at 19.25 and sat in the snug which was nice. We ordered cheese garlic bread for nibbles prior to our mains.. anyway 1 hour later nothing arrived and then to our dismay the waitress announced the kitchen had lost our order and we had to start over again. The garlic cheesy bread arrived, the bread was uncooked and the cheese just melted and all 4 slices were piled on top of each other causing a mess it just looked like it had been rushed out, totally unappealing. The drinks waitress was doing her best but it was her first night bless her. The food wasn’t great my fish was undercooked, chips became fries on my wife’s meal? Our friend asked for no relish and it came with relish. It just felt the poor staff were run ragged and no one was taking control. The main restaurant wasn’t full either so it must have been inadequate amount of staff who maybe lacked experience. First and last we won’t be back

We have visited this restaurant several times and the food has always been pretty but the meal we had last night was truly excellent. We both had mussels as a main course. They are cooked in a cider broth and served with sour dough bread and fries. The mussels were very fresh and very plump and very delicious. The bread was outstanding. For desert the white chocolate creme brulee with strawberry and ice cream.

Absolutely brilliant meal last evening: local mussels cooked superbly and the belly pork was just fantastic. Thank you Team Springer, another corker!

Great pub, we often stop for lunch when travelling to West Cornwall.

It really wasn't a great experience and although the staff were friendly the food was not up to standard. We have visited before and we're looking forward to a lovely evening . Both our meals disappointed and one in particular was mostly uneaten . When the young chap cleared the table he asked if all was OK and we explained. He was so helpful and apologised etc etc . Then a young lady appeared with a very loud voice and asked us to explain and expand why we weren't happy - how embarrassing! She then said that the chef doesn't over season food - such a strange interaction and cringeworthy. She said we will discount and knocked £8 off the bill . So we left disappointed and a bit sad we would go again. The concern was that the burger was hard, overcooked and tastless - the bun was really tough . I asked for a salad with my fish instead of chips and it arrived on a bed of broccoli-should have been salad - then they said no salad but returned with lettuce and three slices of tomato.

Very nice. Though local, it was the first time I'd visited. Great table next to fire. Nice food (I ordered too much!) and good value 2 courses for £20. Very friendly, helpful staff member who, working alone, took orders, served food, served drinks to quite a few customers. Excellent service skills. Thank you.

Nice little pub. A warm welcome and the food was superb. Only suggestion would be to train your staff in attention to detail. Things like not replacing cutlery/napkins, taking the water away but not offering a refill. Service was not bad at all but could just do with refining a little to take it from acceptable to amazing. Also for an establishment such as this I would have expected salt and pepper grinders as opposed to powdered pepper. However that being said the quality and standard of the food was superb and we would absolutely visit again, just trying to offer some positive critique :)

Delightful pub with a warm welcome despite my arriving in muddy wellington boots from a country walk . I have a gluten intolerance and the hosts were very helpful in letting me know what I could eat for my lunch. Lovely gastro pub and a top Sunday menu. I had the starter (black pudding scotch egg) and roast pork, my partner had roast beef and sticky toffee pudding. We both had an excellent pint or two of Jail Ale. The service and ambience were great the only slight disappointment was the quality of the cutlery which felt rather canteen like for such a quality place.

A little disappointed some of our mains were cold. They were changed and one removed from the bill.

Visited for Saturday evening meal. A really good range of options on the menu. Reasonably priced. Friendly service throughout the visit. Very busy but food arrived in good time. Fabulous range of cocktails- sadly I was driving so didn’t get to sample them but my party said they were lovely (and very strong!).

The staff and food were great, excellent cauliflower cheese with a nicely plated roast. The only minor point was the amount of dogs around the tables, they were everywhere (Suppose the Pubs name maybe a clue) must be a nightmare for the staff but they always gave the tables a good wipe down.

We had a pre Christmas dinner with family, the food was first class, the service was friendly and efficient, lovely cosy pub, will definitely be visiting again. The mushroom linguine was amazing!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner from the winter menu in the warm inviting restaurant, service was really good and nothing was too much trouble. We all left feeling incredibly full and will certainly return.

Went with my friends in November. I visit Springer for food semi regularly. Delicious food as always and love their cocktails! It was my friends first time here and they really enjoyed their roast.

Good pub to have a meal. Food is really good and better quality than normal pub food. Worth paying a little extra, I will be going back. My only gripe is that they could do with stocking some non alcoholic drinks as most people have to drive to the pub. My only option was orange or coke.

My go to place for good food when in Cornwall. A small menu but something for everyone, all cooked from real ingredients, no freezer to microwave here.

We visited the springer spaniel on recommendation of spring park beautiful pub just a few miles from where we were staying, the food was good and we'd definitely go again if we stayed close by, There was a lady who seemed to be holding the front of house, she was fantastic and a credit to the pub she was holding the team together well as it seemed there was another young girl training/recently employed - the girl i originally mention had fantastic people skills and was really engaging with my 6 year old son. She really is great and i hope the owners read this.. back to the good i had the meat burger and the wife had the hallumi burger both were absolutely delicious, we also had some puddings which where ok

We’ve been desperate to visit here with our two springers, so as we were holidaying in Devon, took the opportunity - it did not disappoint. A warm and welcoming atmosphere on arrival with plenty of seating. Very clean and very spacious. A huge bowl of fresh water arrived for our dogs. They don’t usually drink when we are out but felt relaxed enough to drink half the bowl! We chose the blt sandwich with chips and a glass of lemonade. Sandwich was delicious! Not badly priced and we will definitely return when we are down south again.

Great service from all the staff. The meal was fantastic - excellent quality, excellently cooked. Not cheap, but worth it as a treat.
