Got food for takeaway just a burger each with loaded fries. Once ordered was told it would be 20 mins so 25mins later went back and they said it would be 5 mins….well another 35min later the lady had to check where it was and came out with it 5 mins later. We got home and the burger had no flavour to it and the chips were just oven cooked chips with dry chicken and fake cheese sauce. Will not be going back again, what a waste of £40

We we on a Wednesday evening for a birthday celebration with my wife and son. We was greeted with a smile by the staff and asked if we had booked a table, we hadn't made a reservation but was found a table even tho they were incredibly busy. We didn't have starters and dived strip into the mains which I must say didn't disappoint. My partner had the triple stack burger and I have to say it looked not only huge but tasted amazing. I had the hot spot burger and instead of chicken I opted for beef. The taste and the flavour combination was absolutely delicious. I also upgraded to the fries to loaded fries with extra bacon and once again this didn't disappoint. Everything was absolutely spot on pardon the pun and the price was very very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile on there faces and the restaurant itself is spotlessly clean with great decor. We will definitely be back for many visits I'm sure as this is a hidden gem amongst other very average rest in the area. Thank you so much guy's for making us feel so welcome and looking after us.

We ordered takeaway for the first time on Saturday night and it was all absolutely delicious. The brisket burgers were incredible, the loaded bacon fries were amazing and even the slaw was delicious. Delivery was on time and everything was hot and packaged really well. The best takeaway we’ve had in a very long time and easily one of the best burgers we’ve had. We’d love to visit the restaurant next time! We hope The Spot will be very successful in Hailsham!

I always like to support a new venture especially one that has the courage to start in the same premises after its predecessor closed - and it was good. I hope my review is taken in the spirit it is offered. The young lady waitress was lovely, helpful, knowledgeable and professional but, although fairly quiet we had to wait for 45 minutes for our one course to arrive. We were going next door to the Pavilion and we began to wonder if we would be on time. A kitchen hold-up posssibly but our server did apologise. I do not like my drink served in a marmalad jar with a handle! All the tables had water glasses. If this is how they do it OK but the glasses should be upside down to prevent ingress of 'foreign' bodies while sitting there on unoccupied tables. The paper napkins were so thin and useless that I have never ever seen one so skinny. My burger with brisket was OK and flourable but the brisket was very long and stringy and difficult to eat. The chicken and bacon with cheese was OK too but nothing to write home - or to trip Advisor - about. So soon after opening they were trying hard so we will go again but I hope they have taken aboard our observations. I accept it is' just' a Burger bar but it needs more front of house attention to details Good luck with it.

Had a lovely time. I had the Hot Spot chicken burger and I must say, the hot sauce is lush as was my burger however, my husband had the triple stack baddie which he said was super tasty but not really worth the £17, more like £13/£14. The beef patties were so thin and nothing like the picture advertised on Google (3 thick and succulent with a stack of onion rings on top) had the onion rings and all that was described but, the patties were way to thin. (Like a big Mac..sorry). The APA was lovely, never had this before, but was served in a Longman glass...ok not a huge problem, attention to detail (lots of eateries serve matching glasses....it's kinda part of it) hoping in time you'll start to serve Longman products with it being a local brewery. Service was great , staff super polite and v professional. This won't put us off going again as we did have a lovely time and only a bit of constructive feedback. Would recommend for the hot sauce !

When the next day, you’re still talking about how bad the service was, and watch every table you arrived before get served, eat, and leave. Literally lunch was over before we got served our lunch. Service was friendly on arrival, but that’s when it ended too. No one wanted the warm-ish food when it finally arrived. We didn’t leave a tip, and that’s super rare to annoy us that much.

It was quiet for our Xmas do though we may have been the first to have a big group event :) We had the festive menu. The carvery was lovely, however if veg is left on hotplate too long it can be bit hard - not sure if there's another solution to this. Some in the group were not overly enamoured with the Mac 'N' Cheese, felt it was not cheesy enough. The chips were overcooked which came wit the burger. Overall, it was a super evening, lovely venue and welcoming staff.

I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden
