The Sportsmans Inn - Ivybridge Hotel in South Hams

Went for candle making for my friend’s birthday, felt like I had gatecrashed someone’s party! Beautiful room but no where to sit, did the candle making which took 5 minutes and then stood around. Had two drinks, candle costs £35 to make with the vessel. Clearly there was a large party that’s had booked the full venue, Botox sessions, iv drips and lip fillers were offered?! Everything was cleared away and our candles still weren’t dry. I thought there was a bar but no, we paid, literally left as it was being packed up and had to find something to do for a hour before picking up our candles whilst guest stayed and drank wine! Would not recommend, made to feel very uncomfortable.

I can assure you we were all of age. Just wanted to play a friendly game of pool and were told no if we didn’t ALL buy drinks? very strange policy.

Went for brunch and it was very busy but the service was excellent. I ordered the big breakfast which was cooked to perfection, thick bacon, tasty sausages, perfect fried eggs, hash browns were extra crispy and tasty, everything on the plate was delicious, even the baked beans which i dont normally eat and best of all it was hot and stayed hot until i finished it. I also had mocha which was creamy and rich and in a large mug, a really good hot drink. The wife had the ham and cheese croissant which she said was yummy and loved the mix of bechamel and cheddar cheese. Service was quick and ever so friendly. The food and drink was reasonably priced and well worth it for the quality. We sat right next to the rivers edge which lovely. Would be incredible on a hot summers day. We will be back soon. Great place very friendly and relaxing.

Called in whilst on holiday and had the red Thai curry, absolutely awful, just a few small cubes of spicy beef and rice it was just so dry, It came with 2 poppadoms which were okay. We visited the pub previously and just had a drink which was fine, but I won’t go back there again even for a drink after being served with such substandard food. Very disappointed.
