CCTV in the women’s toilets beware. It was a complete shock to see the camera over the first toilet cubicle. Surely it’s not legal to do that. Ladies be very cautious about visiting this place

.. that our favourite beer was not on which it normally is. However, the BankTop beers were a very good substitute. Two of our group of 4 had a curry which was declared very tasty indeed.

This is a place we don't visit often but we always have a good time there. We like this brand as you get exceptional drinks really good prices and this occasion was no different. They had four or five different draft bitters at £2.25 which is just incredible compared to other places. it can get busy but we always manage to get a table and it attracts bunch of characters which can be entertaining. The bar can get busy as well but they usually have plenty of people to serve you so you don't have to wait long. It is also nicely located on Nelson Square so try and get a table by the window and watch the going on of the town around you.

Met here with a couple of friends for a few pints. Cask ales in excellent condition and a very good selection. Been coming here for over 20 years. Beth, Maisie, Sarah and Abi were as always excellent in the smooth running of the bar. Only gripe was the world shortage of beer mats in spoons pubs,

Went to order food was pretty busy but that’s no excuse was polite with my mum saying she had time but when it came to me ordering she was rushing saying can you hurry it up a little we have other people waiting than when I was trying to ask if it was a garlic bread pizza or baguettes she was like what’s your issue I come here a lot never in my time here have I met such a rude waitress Maisie needs a few manners when it comes to people ordering let’s just yell and start arguing with anxiety customers keeping her and this place with jobs very rude and unprofessional

Weatherspoon’s in Bolton is the Spinning Mule. Was here tonight for dinner and a few pints after a long days walking.Ordered Medium Rare rump steak and chips, and a pint of cider using the app.The meal arrived quickly but instead of medium rare the steak was incinerated not the slightest hint of pink left in the meat.But apart from that the meal was tasty and the drinks cold. At Weatherspoon’s prices I stayed for a few more pints. (Where I live it is at least £4 a pint) so to get pints for less than £2 is a bargain, means I can drink twice as much for my budget.Will return in the morning and sample their breakfast.

Been today welcoming service guidelines are done to the letter bit of a wait for service but expected staff doing their best food as good as always and beer very cheap well done staff doing a outstanding job in the circumstances will visit again

Visited for drinks on a Monday night. Many tables with dirty plates and glasses and spilt food. These were not cleared for at least 30mins. When they were cleared the tables were not cleaned or sanitised. I spoke to the duty manager who was very offhand, said they didn't have enough staff and no time. I emailed Wetherspoons but have had no response a week later.

Went last night and couldn't believe the wait we had ordered on the app at 6.55 as you are asked to order on the app where possible at 7.30 finally drinks arrived when we asked why the long wait he said the bar was snowed under but someone who came in after us and went to the bar brought their drink back within 5 mins we finally got the food at 7.45 again when asking was told the kitchen was snowed under with steaks that's why everything delayed I actually felt sorry for the front of house staff who were getting flack off quite a few people maybe if they would have been communicated to better people wouldn't have got peeved off would go again as never had service like this before but would make sure we asked how long we would realistically have to expect to wait

Good pub, food good, good service, good atmosphere could actually hear yourself talk to each other, would recommend

Don't come with expectations of gourmet food and 5 star service and you wont be disappointed. The breakfast I had was tasty, cheap enough and coffee was good and refillable.

I’ve come to weatherspoons with an old friend for a well deserved catch up. I ordered 2 simple breakfasts nothing out of the ordinary, and low and behold it took 40 minutes for the order to arrive. However the best part of this dreadful experience is after 20 mins of waiting, I had to go to the bar which then the bar tender told me that he’d got the food and taken it too an empty table. The quality of customer service is unbelievably bad , no offer to keep us happy therefore we shan’t be returning. At least be honest and don’t lie and say that the you brought the food, the space is open enough for me to see what going on, and there was simply not enough covers to excuse this, if you would like returning customers to come when a complaint is made, resolve it- do not anger me enough to write a review while my food is getting cold.

Food gone downhill, chilli only 1 spoonful, full English cold, toast burnt & snotty egg. May be they have changed the chef as been going for months with no problems and last two weeks have been terrible x

Normally love a trip to ‘spoons’ for a meal, but left very disappointed today. One tablespoon equiv of maple syrup with a stack of pancakes , it soaked right into the top one, asked for more , was told that’s how they come. Really you couldn’t spare another spoonful mr spoons? God job we ordered a few dishes to share, got my money back, so instead of giving a bit more syrup you wasted food and lost a sale on it , tut tut thought customer service would matter more than a bit of syrup

It looks a bit tired compared to some of the other more modern themed spoons, but do not worry, the same menu, service and bar are all still on offer. The app and table service is a useful edition.

My hubby and I went for lunch and he had a Curry, well it was Thursday, and really enjoyed it. He said it was very tasty and the food was hot. I had the Management Special, Mixed Grill, and although that to was well cooked and tasty it was on the cool side and that is because it had been served on a cold plate. Why do people go to all the effort of heating food but not the plate ? Even at home I always put hot food on a hot plate.

This is a Wetherspoons pub and I have been in many they all do the same menu and always a good price for food and drinks was a bit on the busy side when i was in but will thry it again John

A party of 4 last night - saturday - and it was busy though we easily got seats. Food was very good and pretty cheap too. Drinks range was great and - using their app - service was very quick !

Ordered 2 BBQ burger meals with a Gordons Pink Gin with Lemonade and a pint of Coors light, less than £16 all in! Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering and was spot on!. I've paid that just for 2 Gins in some places.... Can't recommend it enough for the money.

We don’t go into Bolton often but when we do we head to this place. You know what you get with the Wetherspoons brand and this is a typical example of it. It can get a bit rough and ready but generally there is a good atmosphere and it attracts an older crowd.They do the usual excellent range of drinks and other places in town could take note of the prices. They are quiet whilst this place is always packed and you don’t need to wonder why.The food looks pretty good but we would rather eat elsewhere. Despite what others have said we found the staff very friendly and professional.

I am certain that this is one of the worst Wetherspoons in the UK. Every time we go we swear we won't go back only to relent and return to find the next experience just as poor. Food is either unavailable, incorrect or badly cooked. Sometimes it fails to appear. The ladies toilets are scruffy and need ripping out. Sadly it is our nearest Spoons for meeting friends but the ones in Bury are far superior.

Had two staff members be unnecessarily rude toward me for no reason at all and has really ruined my view of this pub

Pop in Friday for a pint and breakfast,was very surprised on the price 2.10 a pint of carlsberg,pub is lovely and clean,bar service was quick, food came within 5 minutes,food itself was ok.toilets where a little old but still very clean,

Where do I begin? We have been here before and it is we’ll overpriced. I know you are at the mercy of the airport but 2 tea and toast (which wasn’t cooked and cold) £11.

My pitcher was cracked and leaked on my table, the barman Jordan was very helpful in this matter and was on hand to quickly fix the problem. I’d thought the remainder of my drink would have been poured into a new pitcher but he made me a fresh one. Very nice staff and atmosphere!

Took our friend for breakfast - her first time for a Spoons breakie - she was impressed with unlimited coffee Food was hot , came promptly and very tasty. The Mule is our nearest Wetherspoons - glad to see quality is being maintained ♥️

The staff have been great, pleasant and helpful. 2 breakfasts so far and a third to follow. Had an unfortunate experience with a 12oz steak, which was more akin to a wooden stake. However I was impressed with the staff handling it, as I gather this was not the first that day, so bad batch. Problem solved no issues.

Visit here couple of evenings a week, catch up with the lads after work. Best ale in town! Always a great selection & very well looked after. Highly recommended

This pub is just on the edge of Nelson Square which gives it a lovely setting. It is a big place as usual for this brand and has lots of interesting nooks and crannies.

Called in for lunch with my mum. Ordered chicken strips and buttermilk chicken. Both came quickly. They were hot and very tasty. Staff were friendly and cheerful.

Visit with friends. Staff are always very friendly and attentive. Great starting point for a night out. Great value on food and drink.

Friendly staff the food was excellent and cannot be beaten for value for money will definitely be coming again soon

Had a lovely evening there tonight; service was swift & friendly; food was very good and great for the price; beer was excellent on draft & in cans. Well-recommended !

3 of us went for brunch and 2 of us ordered "Proper" English breakfast. When it came the item that was hot was the sausage, even the plate was cold. We took them back to the bar and they apologised and said they would replace them. This they did and it was very nice, the other member of our trio had eggs Benedict and said it was tasty but cool.

It has been three years since I was last at The Spinning Mule Wetherspoons in Bolton and boy has it gone downhill. Took my dad for lunch, first off, the place needs an overhaul. The tables were dirty as where the seats and when we went for 11.30am for lunch, tables still had plates on from people who had eaten breakfast. Went to order food only to be ignored twice by a female member of staff who clearly saw me stood there with a menu but decided to serve two other men stood after me holding empty glasses. Remember this happening last time. I appreciate you have your regulars who come in for cheap booze, but it is rude to serve someone when clearly someone else was first and especially when you saw that person waiting.

Love wetherspoon pubs been to quite a lot but today came here celebrating my partners new job and what an idiot of a barman/waiter (clumsy) spilt an unwanted drink on floor then dropped my sauce then talking to his friends then dropped plates all over the floor. My partners chicken was dry and couldnt chew it sent it back still waiting for her sauce. Then went to the bar and he shouted to his collegue on her own cant serve food no forks. What an idiot poor girl on her own. Manager on his mobile at the end of bar wasnt interested. This place gone down the pan first time ever in all the years its been open

Popped in for a pint and bite, staff very nice quick service from freindly bar staff , sat and had my drink , then ordered another drink and pizza on the app , the drink arrived almost as soon as I checked out on the app polite barman delivered it , the pizza did not take to long to arrive , pipping hot and tasty. Nice pub nice value for money food and drinks nice service from professional staff.

Visited this pub for an early evening meal. lots of tables available, none had been cleaned. This is probably an indication of the low standards and management of this establishment. Decided not to eat and walked out. If you like eating off dirty tables you will love it, if you don't avoid at all costs

The breakfasts here seem to be made early morning and left under the heat lamps until required.Yesterday's breakfast was the worst I have been served anywhere. It was almost stone cold and you could have soled your shoes with the fried eggs. A definite place to miss as far as breakfast goes

Came for lunch with friends and we decided on the new lamb shank ... now most of the meals look elegant on the plate but this looked like a "workman's " meal. Don't get me wrong it was very tasty but was like a stew with the lamb shank on top . It would have been much nicer if the mash, and veg had been in separate piles on the plate... it looked too much and put us off a bit. But as I said it was tasty.

This is the place we always choose for get togethers because we can reserve a large table. The staff are friendly, the food is good and cheap and so are the drinks. It wins all round

Good quality food at very reasonable prices. Same about the beer. Their app is very easy to use but be ware that e.g. the manager's specials do not appear on it so do look out for that. Staff very helpful. Well-recommended.

Called in for a quick drink, saw it was curry night. and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and a Chicken Vindaloo. Both curries came with rice, onion bhaji and samosa, two popadoms, and a nan bread. We both agreed the whole meal was excellent value and very tasty, the vindaloo was not quite as spicy as I would have liked but very nice non the less. Both meals came with drinks. Overall a decent meal for a good price.

Was in the area on Saturday morning and where possible will always try to find the local wetherspoons for a breakfast. I have to say think this place has provided the best one yet. Service was unbelievably fast food was hot which they can sometimes be on the cooler side and also tasted fab they are generally good but here was for some reason better. Is a large place and nicely set out into little rooms so quiet private dining too.

Good experience, had 2 good breakfasts that were great value for money. Not happy that the beer is 40p cheaper than the whiffler in Norwich. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Its a pity the whiffler has not been upgraded to this standard.

Went here for an evening meal with my husband. Seriously.. the lamb shank wasn't fit for the dog! Would definitely not be eating here again, squashed chips on the floor around us and when our food arrived the lamb shank was cooked incorrectly and was under cooked and very chewy. For the price we paid the quality of the food was just awful.

My fiancee and I visited 9/8/18, I ordered the rump steak and he ordered the large mixed grill. Both of our steaks were ordered medium cooked and they were both really overdone, so well done they were difficult to chew. Rest of the meals were nice though, delivered quickly. Staff seemed indifferent and tables were not being cleared in a timely manner. The staff seemed more concerned with serving as many customers as possible without consideration for the quality of their visit.

I went to this pub during a visit to Bolton, it was very busy at the time, there is a good selection of real ales. The pub serves standard Wetherspoon food. Recommended.

Went last night for tea in bolton town centre wasn't expecting to get in here as know its a really busy pub ,however noticed a few empty tables ,we ordered the pizza and drink offer that we have had before using the app which as somebody else has commented is quicker and you don't have to queue at the bar where a lot of the time people push in .we ordered chips as well which on this occasion didn't taste up to their usual standard ,.I was cheeky as well in ordering another drink on the app after which you are able to do as well ,usually my partner will have two pints of cider one of them being my drink and then I usually order the cocktail jug but he was driving today .sadly the only thing that lets any weatherspoons down is tables don't seem to be wiped down so always take a packet of wet wipes with you as we do

Went to the 'curry club' on Thursday. The curry was delicious added onion bhaji and samosa for very little. Had a drink included, couldn't believe how little it cost. Well worth a visit, staff were lovely, very helpful and pleasant.

Popped in on spec because we were that side of town but expected it to be full, especially with the World Cup being on. But although it wasn't full, it wasn't empty either. We got in about 12 and ordered scampi, chips and peas twice straight away. It wasn't long in coming along with 2 pints of cider. Everything went down admirably. We be going again.

Yesterday we went as usual on a Tuesday for the Steak Club and had Mixed Grill... it took 25 mins to arrive and was quite cool but could not be bothered had piles of dishes on it to wait another 25 mins for hotter food. Must have been Ryans day off as the tables were not being cleared and the 55 mins we were there a table under the tv ( we were on table 3) . There seemed to be only 2 waitresses who were not able to see any tables that had dishes on and people were moving dirty dishes of a table they wanted to sit at to another table. When our food was delivered I had to ask her to take away the mugs and glasses that were on our table otherwise they would have been left there. Don't know what has happened to young Ryan but please get him back as he took pride in clearing up.

After drinking in many 'spoons pubs all over the country i am making an effort to share the news and information that this is the best selection of ales anywhere out of all those tried. a hearty congratulation goes to Rob for getting an excellent and varied and continually varying line up of all range of ales including porters and IPA's amd bitters. prices and service is good here too so i always look forward to a return to Bolton and the 'Mule' for a cracking good beer.

Early dash up north - breakfast - Kylie and the crew setting up - few boisterous lads giving it large - found a quiet table though! Must have missed the rush - good breakfast, good coffee - read the paper - loos not too special especially the graffiti and no paper! Good value as always...

This is a great atmospheric place that always seems busy but there's always room and the sevice is pretty good so you don't notice the wait. It's not haute cuisine but still very good. Give it a go.

Called in tonight easter Saturday, was expecting a long wait , within 20 min our food was served , two lots of fish and chips, two lasagne and a quinoa salad,Gluten free available, wow could not have asked for better service , everyone polite, toilets clean and tidy. Never eaten here before , but will be coming back..

Sirloin steak came out over cooked and inedible. Jordan mayor etchells gave poor customer service. Asked for a medium well...

Went on a reasonably busy Saturday evening and found a table towards the back. there was good range of local beers on offer and the food that we both had was very good. Very good value for money.

Reasonable prices but only average. Not as good as they used to be a few years ago. Cheap and cheerful yes, but I'm getting fed up of going to steak club Tuesdays and they have run out of steaks by about 6pm. They serve till 11pm so this is really bad and it keeps happening. Cheap for drinks though. It's a shame about the disabled toilets though as the are disgusting. I have no choice to use it as I can't do the stairs.

The "Mule" is only two minutes walk from the new bus station - exit via entrance near Stand Y and go along Chancery Lane 12 handpumps dispense a wide choice of wonderful golden ales and also one or two porters or stouts. The usual range of craft beers (including draught Punk IPA) are available. Flensburger Pilsner is sold in the original 330ml "Bugelflaschen", but is far from cheap. Service has deteriorated in the last couple of months, but staffing levels do tend to be better than the usual Wetherspoon. The usual food is on offer with prices for the Curry Night, Steak Night, etc below the JDW average.

Attended today, noticed I didn’t have a piece of lamb on my mixed grill, made this know to staff, staff member returned to say that the chef had stated that there was a piece of lamb on the mixed grill when it left the kitchen, oh okay so I guess I’m lying then! Categorically stated that there was no lamb on my plate and I don’t go around places buying food accusing that food is missing - very strange, the only thing I can think of is the staff member who brought the food out had eaten it and therefore maybe wetherspoons need to pay them a higher wage so they can actually afford to eat as opposed to stealing customers food before delivery. No apology, no refund, no customer service. Awaiting response from head office but will not be eating here again simply due to the bad service and blatant dishonesty of staff.

A wide selection of beers and wines. Food is basic and doesnt cater much to vegetarians. Panini and chips came with 7 chips!!! Staff always seem to be working hard as its always busy!! When we managed to find a table it wasnt clean, the previous occupants had had gravy. Had to ask at the bar for a cloth to wipe it down two other tables then asked to use the cloth. For drinks the prices and range are brilliant but food I will be going elsewhere to eat

Great atmosphere. Great choice of beers.Usual cheap prices. Only slight grievance(as with some other Wetherspoon pubs), the toilets are 'upstairs' !!! Root march !!!

14oz Aberdeen Angus steak meal - cooked perfectly and absolutely gorgeous - and only £8.75 with a glass of wine...

Good friendly Wetherspoons with a standard format. Great for a good value drink, but also has an interesting display of old photos of Bolton streets and mills.

All the usual good things from Wetherspoons, good food menu and great choice of drinks.

Went with friends tonight and although busy, it is a well-run ship. Our food was excellent value for money especially with included drinks ! We used the Wetherspoons app for the first time and it was easy to use & the service super quick ! Great night all round.

Visited about 7.30 on a Saturday evening with friends. No wait for tables and we straightaway found a booth. We've eaten here before - It's a standard Wetherspoons menu and this time we ordered at the bar rather than use the online app.

Weatherspoon is always good. They have cheap drinks and good range of food always available.

I called in The Mule for a coffee and english breakfast this morning.The staff were friendly, took my order promptly and the breakfast was delicious.Excellent value at £4.50 !

Ive had good and bad experiences here to be honest. The latest I ordered off the app and I got good service. The staff do seem to take forever in all my experiences here but the app I saw pretty swift results. They Could do with serving a larger portion of chips for my liking but The trick with this place is to accept its a bit hit and miss but really cheap. I have had eggs that look like they have been kicked around the kitchen floor and Ive had wonderful burgers and a drink for 8 quid. Get all the staff in gear and it s not a bad value pub. If its a disaster you havent lost too much at them prices!

We visited bolton town centre for bolton food festival where we had some lunch then went to wetherspoons for tea and had some tea. When we sat down the tables were messy and some tables were in the dark and seemed a bit dingy. The food was nice and the prices were very good for both food and drink but the waiters + bar staff were scruffy and were gossiping instead of serving the food was to our tables relatively quick. The room we were in was also quite cold to sit in. There are better places to eat in bolton

Visited Tuesday this week, looking forward to my steak. It was not to be as they had 'run out' of mustard! Had to have chicken instead. How can a place like Wetherspoon's run out of mustard, also another customer wandering around looking for tomato sauce, which had also run out! We were told a delivery due that evening, but come on Wetherspoon's, there are supermarkets and Pound Shops in Bolton. Surely you could have bought a few bottles of each to tide you over! I also had concerns about the cleanliness of tables. 3 tables near us had dirty glasses and plates on when we arrived. It was at least 30 minutes before these tables were cleared for other customers. Not good.

We went on Tuesday for the Steak day and both had Sirloin, hubby had an acceptable amount of fat around but mine must have been at least 2 oz from the 8 oz offered and as I am not into so much fat I left it. Also no English mustard anywhere in the dining area. But the food was hot and well cooked and served on warm plates and a good size meal.

Normally have a family Sunday breakfast, decided for a change to do a wetherspoons. Quick and easy to order, The large breakfast is really that, vegetarian option was apparently nice too. Pancakes with syrup also went down well. All served quickly and nice and hot, was very surprised as to how busy it was with families eating. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

I live relatively close to this venue, and have been in for the odd pint now and then, usually on the way back from somewhere else!Today I went for lunch with two members of my family, and was very pleasantly surprised!I knew I'd have a good choice of real ales, and was not disappointed, and my sister was thoroughly enjoying her G&Ts! Menu was extensive (not often a good sign) but the food was excellent. Singapore Noodles, Chilli con Carne and I chose the Mixed Grill (the standard offering, not the 'extra-sized' one). But I was still last to finish, by a fair bit. It was huge! Desserts for myself and my brother-in-law were on the button, and the bill was, let's be honest, miniscule!Downsides? Well, the table could have been wiped and the previous occupants' glasses cleared. This seemed to be the main failing in this pretty busy pub.Would I go back? You bet!

Ate hear as it was close by to our hotel and I can safely say the meal was fine in its self bar service was about as slow as a week in the jail the place was dirty and stuffy went to use the toliet and they were chatty and the toilet flushes were broken and the locks weren't opening as we passed the bar it's filthy where they serve was glad I had eaten before I seen this or I wouldn't have eaten there I dread to think the state of the kitchens Wetherspoons should be ashamed

Good reasonable food, pub food, for the price and worth a visit. A good bar with a friendly atmosphere. We have just enjoyed steak night for £6.49 with a pint.

This is one of our favourite places to eat in bolton.the food here has improved enormously over the years and is no longer the hit and miss affair that it used to be.my partner loves the mixed grill and the burgers here . I tend to vere towards the chicken dishes and the paninisFood is always hot and service is very prompt.no wonder the place is always so busy with diners as well as drinkers.well worth a visit.

Me and my son went for a meal today at the spinning mule in Bolton, normally this is a good place to eat, Today however it was not nice at all, we ordered at 11.53 am I ordered a traditional breakfast and my son a ultimate burger, the table next to me ordered 5 mins after me. At 12.15 the table next to me received their food, I went up to the bar to ask why we had not received our food as we had ordered before them, a young girl came over two minutes later to say our food would not be long, 5 minutes later our food arrived the burger was cold and also the chips, the breakfast was greasy and the bacon dry and burnt.

Busy friendly pub ,the food is consistent and which ever Wetherspoons u go in u know ur going to get good food for a good price

the building itself is lovely. Good food, good atmosphere and fair prices - would recommend visiting (although if you don't like rowdy eaters maybe avoid friday nights

Decided to call in for tea, spur of the moment decision. Quite busy but soon found a table in the dining area. Usual order at the bar system, unfortunately a busy bar, what seemed like too few staff, along with a bar person who was clearly serving his regular customers instead of in order of arrival. This was also being noted by other customers who were also waiting. Food was served quickly, Triple chicken feast and fish and chips, Chicken feast was very good, unfortunately the fish had not been filleted properly and a large piece of backbone remained. Overall not the best visit we have had at a wetherspoons.

Friendly staff, nice relaxing atmosphere. Excellent menu and fab all day brunch! Lots to choose from and cheap and cheerful.

The pub had a good selection of beers and the standard Wetherspoons menu at reasonable prices. Service was quite slow while the pub was busy but fine later.

Plenty of tables to eat at not the nicest looking Wetherspoon's pub but the curry night food was good value the beer is good too. Nice place to meet for a drink

Good cheap food always available. town centre location great to call in while shopping,good toilet facilities

Went on a busy Saturday night expecting a hearty meal, good beers and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and we were not disappointed. Although buys, there was plenty of staff on and the manager helped out too. All round, a great evening ! Well-recommended.
