The Spice Inn in St. Helens

The family met there to celebrate my granddaughter's 18th , very lively atmosphere , really lovely helpful staff and lots of wonderful food and drinks . All at a reasonable price. We have been there before and it is always great , terrific 😀

Love the food here. It's really tasty, price is good and the service is really friendly. Honey Badam and a Garlic Bhuna with ofcourse the poppadoms and chutney

We ordered a takeaway and the food was cold. I have done deliveries myself in the past and drivers should not have to deliver the food to multiple people on the same delivery run as this is not fair to the customers or the driver.

Arranged from a work get together .never been before , nice big car park . Easy location to find & acess , 👍 meal from start to finish . 1/2 pub half Indian Restaurant. Drinks starters & mains for the whole group were excellent. Will come here again . 😁

Always get a delivery from spice inn , food is always lovely, we have ate at the restaurant before and service and food is really good , definitely recommended.

We asked for a table at 9.15pm .... it was still reasonably busy in the restaurant. We were seated and was asked within minutes to order. We asked for drinks and ordered as fast as we possibly could with a brief look at the menu. The waiter was abrupt and said we had to order as the kitchen was closing so we ordered and after the order was put in, we were then told we would have to have all the food at once , starters and main meals. At that point I told them to forget it we would go elsewhere. Rainhill has two Indian restaurants and we are surrounded by prescot, widnes and st helens which has many other Indian restaurants. A different waiter came and apologised and said we could have the food as separate courses. This was the second visit where we had the same rude waiter. The food was quite nice. There is no excuse for poor service and people vote with their feet.

Theys are my pictures of my mains, The starters we had here were absolutely phenomenal hence why I jumped to do a review because I was so impressed every time I come here. very good flavours really good lamb tikka chops cooked to perfection the vegetable curry sauce we had that comes with the lamb tikka chops is amazing also we had fresh Onion bhajis with a chicken chat 3 starters between 2 of us after eating the main witch was a house special my brother had chicken tikka masala special order made hot was no problem,I didn’t think I would finish it but it was so good I have managed to finish all my food Thanks to the spice in in rainhill I will be coming for my next Indian meal thank you

The food, as ever, is amazing. If you're not into hot and spicy, I can highly recommend the Honey Badami (warning: sprinkled with cashew nuts, just in case you have allergies)

Amazing Christmas Day meal with the family . Service was exceptional , ambience first class . Food was beautifully presented , generous servings from the Traditional English Menu and the Indian classic buffet . Every course was carefully planned and delivered to the table , there was no sense of rush between courses . An unforgettable Christmas Day - thank you !!

Great service good food drinks first class value for money

Empty restaurant and sat in window, which was fine with us, ordered our food..a table of three people very loud and argumentative were sat beside us, felt uneasy as they were looking for trouble! slightly annoying when the restaurant was empty! The starters came and the prawn puree was terrible with a hard uncooked pastry thing placed on top! Wierdest thing ever and we have had plenty of Indian meals over the years. The meat samosa not good, greasy with no filling and again we have certainly had better. Although both currys were not too bad the garlic naan was absolutely dreadful! Definitely bought in and no garlic on it! It was the worst nann we had ever had in an Indian restaurant, the chips were laughable! Little tiny french fries, I have better quality in my freezer! Couldn't wait to get out! Never ever again!

First visit was on a Friday night . We didn't book as we never thought it would be busy but they fitted us in . We waited 30 mins for a table not bad at all considering how busy they were. I don't think I have ever seen a restaurant as busy as the spice inn ever and the way all the staff coped was very commendable..all of the food we had was fantastic. We will definitely go back but we like a quiet restaurant so will try it mid week next time

Visiting from Dubai. Food was first class, well spiced and delicious. Coupled with very attentive service .

Been here several times over the last couple of years and the food has always been good. However, this time , the poppadoms tasted like they'd been cooked in oil well past its best. But that's the only criticism 'food-wise '. The place wasn't busy but our main courses (-there were three of us-) took an inordinately long time - maybe an hour to arrive. What added insult to injury was that a bloke (obviously known to the staff) and his girl friend who came in much later than us were served almost immediately. When our food arrived, no complaints. But.... this delayed service has happened on other occasions. Minor gripe, because the food is lovely, but come on fellas... get it sorted.

Disappointing Experience Rude Staff at Spice inn Restaurant I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Spice Inn and felt compelled to share my thoughts about the extremely rude staff( 2 waiters in the restaurant)encountered. While the restaurant had received positive reviews for its cuisine, the unprofessional behavior of the staff overshadowed any enjoyment I could have had during my visit.

This has to be the best Indian restaurant I have been for a long time food was immense, service outstanding and quality unreal highly recommend this place . 👍

Amazing, every time. One time,the website wasn’t working for cards and had to be cash on delivery. I didn’t have any cash in the house, and they said sort it next time and delivered it!.

Ate here recently and there is a very good choice and variation of signature dishes available. Mrs W had the shaslick karah which went down a treat , I opted for the pepper fry dish which was very tasty and full of flavour despite being more pepper & onion than there was chicken. Service was good and value for money is excellent. Will dine here agian no problem.

Joint Best curry house within 20 miles. Food just tastes that little bit special. Good price as well. Always feel at home.

Ordered a delivery at the weekend.A chicken and Lamb Korma.The meats were tender and well cooked.However the sauce was so bland it was basically tasteless.I’d like to say we’ve eaten in and had takeaway before and it’s constantly excellent. So you can imagine our disappointment at the total lack of taste. I assume the food is usually tasted before being dispatched,im guessing our meals weren’t sampled or the sampler had a heavy cold and took a punt about the taste!.I’m certain had someone in the kitchen tried it,it wouldn’t have left the kitchen in that state. I’d like to reiterate that the food has always been lovely previously and we will try again in the future.

We had our Christmas day lunch here.staff were lovely and friendly. We left without our phone and had to drive back. Was retrieved back to us safely after I rang Sadik (The owner) All in all, nice service. Was costly but worth saving the pennies. And hard labour of preparation cooking ext ext ext.

Awful takeaway, the lamb was tough and the sauce like spicy water, how people can rate this place higher than the other really good Indian restaurant in Rainhill is beyond me, it can’t be because it’s cheaper as it isn’t, I’ll avoid from now on.

1st time last night and so glad I give it a go. Only had a takeaway but food was delicious. Been to lots of Indian restaurants some really good ones and this is up there with them. Nan, Bhaji, Curry and rice plentiful and soooo nice. Will try the restaurant next time has it looked spotless and warming, ideal to try some other delights from the menu. Also, pub next door with lots of choice on draught, no brainer.

Dined here twice recently and also had a takeaway. Was made to feel welcome by the very polite and friendly staff. Good choice on the menu, and was served very quickly. The food is delicious, tasty and plentiful.

For years Indian has been my favourite food but for 12 months now I've become less interested due to not enjoying the food that has been served to me. Indian food is rarely bad, but it can be very average. Eat at the Spice Inn yesterday, been many times before but not for a few years and have never written a review. The food was incredible. Won't be going anywhere else any time soon and my taste for Indian food is BACK!

Went to this restaurant last night with a work colleague at first wasn’t sure about it being attached to a pub but got to say was completely separate with no noise from next door 👍🏼 Was greeted by very polite staff that instantly put any doubts at ease👍🏼, ordered straight away out of a great choice of food and was not disappointed when it turned up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Superb guys all round perfect will see you again if in the area .

Food here was absolutely amazing, plenty of flavour and good size portions Staff were extremely friendly and provided a quick service. Will be coming back here for sure when up this way.

I am 64 years old and been to plenty of Indian restaurants this is by far the best food, service and very good priced restaurant I have ever been to. I highly recommend. Superb

First time dining here and I was pleasantly surprised , looks a bit dated from the outside and the decor could do with a bit of updating but food and service wise it was spot on. Had the poppadoms with chutney tray , apart from the sweet chilli the chutneys were bland with minimum flavour or spice. Chose a couple of dishes from the signature dishes menu , plenty to dishes to chose from this menu , Mrs W had the Chicken Shaslick Karahi which she was well pleased with and I opted for the Chicken Piri Piri Massala which is a great take on the regular Massala dish as it adds a bit more flavour and a bit of spice, great idea. All in all a great curry at a resonable price with great service made for a good dining experience. Will definitely eat here again as there are a number of intersting sounding dishes on the signature dish menu to go at.

Don't normally write reviews very often but feel this place deserves one. Wasn't expecting what I recieved that's for sure, the food was fantastic, full of flavour and served without issues. I have had plenty of curries and this is right up there with the best. Compliments to the chefs and keep up the good work guys, I will definitely recommend and return.

Our first visit to Rainhill and tried this restaurant out, great selection of dishes both standard and out of the ordinary. We really enjoyed our meal, flavoursome, nicely presented, and not at all greasy. Staff were lovely and decor was crisp and clean.

Having not been for over two years, I thought it was time for a revisit. The food and service was great. The menu has changed, plenty of choice, quite a few things are different. Good atmosphere and delicious food.

Went here tonight ( New Years Eve 2021) it was like a covid hotspot, crowded with people packed like sardines, dips already left on tables in open to people coughing and spluttering, people queued near door inside, no ventilation, the heat was terrible and deluverys being done at same time. Awful experiance and i certainly would not return. Need to have more regard for peoples health. The drinks order was a white wine and a soda water so nobody persimonally delt with that it was a girl with a tablet, £20 deposit had already been taken, overall experiance of the place is zero and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Food was great, we celebrated our freind and colleagues retirement. Staff were funny and the service was nice and quick. Would recommend if you want a family meal or a works night out.
