Decided to go back to this place with a work colleague after the last visit was so good. Exceptional service from the 2 guys working in the restaurant, very friendly and attentive. Was recommended the chicken tikka thawa by a regular customer and it did not disappointing, very flavoursome and layered , lots of chicken. Highly recommended and will return again soon.

Haven't been for a while, glad to say food is just as good, excellent service and great value for money, especially the early evening offer. And the long overdue makeover has made it look so much fresher and more modern.

Lovely evening meal with the family last night, the food was excellent as always, and we were made to feel very welcome, the staff looked after us throughout the night, nothing was to much trouble, The Fort is a credit to the High Street, keep up the good work.

We booked a table on the 20/10 2023 for 8. P clock we had booked it a week in advance when we arrived we were rushed to order our food and then inf they needed to close the restaurant at 9 o clock due to a family wedding this night was for my 60 th birthday with friends which was ruined by being rushed I was very disappointed by this the booking should never have been confirmed

The Fort has been a favourite for years, always good food and friendly staff, the takeaway service is great.

Great meal with family,catching up as we live up north, Tyne and Wear penshaw.We all had the special for £16.50 for four courses, all different meals & all were good.Servics was first rate.We will call back again sometime. 😍 Lovely night out with the family. X.

A most pleasant first experience and plan to visit again

We’ve been going The Fort of India for 25 years and still the quality of the food is the same quality as day one when we first went. Also you can take your own alcohol in which is a bonus. I would highly recommend this restaurant it never seems to fail always delivers. Thank you 😊

Always nicely decorated. You can see they spend money keeping the place looking smart. I've been a customer here since they opened around 1996. The food has always been good and still is. The big change is they don't serve alcohol now, so take your own.

I was very disappointed with the food. Ordered Lamb chops which you couldn't bite through as they were so tough. Even with the knife it was an ordeal to cut. Ordered 2 Lamb dishes and again, the Lamb was tough and grisly. One of the Two dishes was considerably smaller than the other so when i asked why, the waiter said, the quantity of this dish is smaller than the others. What a load of nonsense. The bowl was tiny with hardly ant meat in and the same price! A blatant insult. Never again. The Fart of India.

As always the curry here is second to none. We went as 4 couples and every starter and curry was delicious. Its BYO as well so at £40 per couple you can't ask anymore!

First time visit but very enjoyable, food was great and the service also. Would definitely return when back in that area

I NEVER GOT MY ORDER. IVE CLAIMED BACK AND THEY SAID WOULD RETURN FUNDS BUT NEVER RECEIVED IT!!!!!!! Finally got my money back but took over 2 months!!!! Strangely now just eat won't take any orders from me......disgusted!!!!!!!

Where do I start...main meel. Asked for lamb pasanda. Came out with chicken masala.... did get a lamb pasander.. to me within 5 min.. lamb.. very chewy. Wifes chicken saag came with a bone in it..Asked for food baged up take home. Then asked for dessert as went for banquet. Dessert ,Came on plate. Asked for take away. Staff came over and being very rude.. saying we should of asked for dessert for take away..for a meal out .and staff be so rude. And get our order so worng.. what a big let down. Will never go again.. eating out should be enjoyable...

Just entered this place and the funny guy i think manager stopped us asking whats the purpose of our visit !!he said we have to book before coming .i just look around seen only one english family sitting.i just quickly checked the menu card and seen the price list made us to think twice to stay because he told us to wait and we just left the place.just with the name indian cuisine looting people...

After hearing so many good things about this restaurant, i was sadly disappointed, the unprofessional service, and arrogance of the waiter for example when asking for suggestions all he could suggest was egg and chips( I'm sure this was just sarcasm), when we were trying to decide what to have, and they even got our main order wrong. starters was great, but the main was bland not what i ordered, the cheap cuts of meat just topped it off... with hindsight the egg and chips would have been the better option. so disappointed i was hoping to find a nice regular indian restaurant. the search continues...

Had lovely meal not been for long time forgot how good it was will be going back

Food was delicious My partner use to come here a lot years ago We thought we would try ourselves and unfortunately the staff was quite rude. We had asked for a curry to be hot to be told by one of the waiters it will not taste nice and it doesn't come like that order something else when thats what they get normally and any other Indian places do this no problem. The way some of the waiters were very rude and made you feel uncomfortable. Ashame because the food was lovely but unfortunately the staff need to learn to listen to customers

Lovely Monday night for mums birthday. What a warm welcome by Shakur. The table was already ready for us with the poppadom starter, which I loved as I was hungry. Manik came to take the order, being vegan he extremely knowledgeable explaining different dishes. Wonderful place, I was worried it would be too quiet on a Monday however other tables and atmosphere :) and currently you can bring your own beer

Lamb silhety doniya tasted good but every mouthful of lamb was full of fat and gristle. Wife's thawa was way more than 'fairly hot' and ended up being inedible. Won't be returning.

I have been to this restaurant for 20 years now and it's the most warm and inviting atmosphere for all the family the food is fantastic and the service is excellent plenty of advice if you need it and a must go place

Had yet another lovely meal from the Fort of India. The food is so fresh and tasty and never fails to disappoint ! Remember to take your own beer & wine though, suits me as I like cider. This way I get to get the drink I want from either the spar or BB over the road.

Delicious hot tasty fresh food. The flavours are so good. The rice and bread are cooked very well. Would highly recommend

The worst Indian food I've ever had ! Broke a tooth on a so called lamb tikka ! 5 of us can't be wrong ! Disgusting ! Never again

Haven't been to FOI for a year or so and ended up wishing I hadn't stayed away as the food was delicious with the added bonus that you can bring your own booze. My wife had prawn chat puri to start and I had the mixed starter which both delivered the goods to be followed by our fantastic main courses of tandoori mixed byriani and cheesy meatbal curry. Blown away. Excellent service also. Will definitely be back soon

Amazing experience. Been a customer for 10 years however they have fully refurbished it feels like a new place. You can take your own alcohol. The food is delicious as always and friendly service thank you :) also 2 vegans and so much choice, ask and they will help

Great curry from here, as always! So glad to be able to go out again, though rather a shame it is no longer licensed. I would not be tempted to go with more than one or two other people, or if Bargain Booze across the road wasn’t open!

Didn't have our booking and actually said..... "you sure you're in the right place" Was then sat next to freezing cold drafty window to notice the lady at the next table had kept her coat on Radiators were working but turned down Waiter that attended our table was wearing a scarf! Sat waiting for 40 minutes between starter and main Service was shocking Starter was nicely cooked which is the only thing I can positively comment on First time visit but won't be giving it a second go Don't take the chance here as there are plenty of other curry houses within a couple of miles

Been here twice food was ok. Got a takeaway. DONT!!! The sauces were so greasy. So much so that the containers leaked on the walk home. Completely ruining a pair of pants and a coat. The food itself lacked any quality. The lamb tikka starter was like chewing a shoe, 1 of the lamb chops was just a bone and the stuffed paratha was more like a dog toy only more rubbery, the onion bhajis were at least a day old and the poppadoms were stale. Ruined a birthday meal. Gutted.

Avoid! Really awful and rude service. Got our order wrong, missing food item. Then sent driver back who had been told to charge us for the delivery of the corrected food!) and made us call the manager who then had an argument with us on the phone to say it's our fault!? All at our front door, food cold and watery when we finally did get it. Bad customer service + bad food = Will not be returning!!

Staff are all very friendly and helpful, food has excellent taste, good value and table service is very prompt. Im so glad I found this restaurant I just wish I lived near so I could return many times

staff treat customers with no respect and try to intimidate you. As we were in the waiting area talking in our group the manager rudely interupted and shouted "you don't come here to chat" food wasn't anything special and service was poor. Family have been coming here for over 20 years but this past year its gone downhill wouldn't recommend.

As a family we go regularly as the food is delicious and the staff are friendly and look after us.

So we tried this place because we really fancied a curry during the Coronavirus lockdown. The food was really good and not greasy like a lot of Indian takeaways are. The staff were really friendly and all gloved and masked, given the circumstances which is very reassuring. Can’t wait for lockdown to end so we can eat in!!!

We are loyal customers of this restaurant however after yet another take away with missing items we will be looking for elsewhere for our weekly take away.

Hadn't been here for a number of years and at first glance it was stuck in a time warp with the decor and it was a little chilly but boy did the food and service make up for it. We enjoyed it so much we have booked for New Year's eve.

We've been going to the taste of India in earls town for years , but has sadly been taken over.So we decided to give the fort of India a try..And we were not disappoint.. excellent flavours balti jalfrez & Rogan Josh..very happy with both the quality of food and the prompt service...we will be definitely using this now as our regular eating place ..well done keep up the good work... Excellent from two curry experts...!!!

Nice decent food but the drinks are flat - we have been twice recently and both times all the cokes and lemonade were flat

I visited the Forts on Saturday as I do many times in a year. Its a family run business along traditional lines not ultra modern and plastic looking. Friendly staff and excellent food.

The food was very nice. The gorkali curry was delicious. My only issue was that we were given a time to collect as it was busy however when we got the food home (only two mins round the corner) it was luke warm or cold, the bagged salad was warm too. That’s the only thing that put us off a but

We’ve never had a bad meal here either take away or eating in. The service is always good and quick too. There’s loads of choice and all the usual things on the menu. There’s always a nice atmosphere when it’s busy too.

Ci sono stata due volte e devo dire che sia come servizio che come qualità del cibo mi sono sempre trovata bene. Forse posso fare qualche critica per quanto riguarda l'arredamento del ristorante; decorazioni floreali alle pareti anche piuttosto carine, che però fanno a schiaffi con la tappezzeria-moquette piuttosto antiquata ed usurata. Forse ci vorrebbe un piccola ristrutturazione, solo questo! Adoro il fatto che quando si entra si viene accolti dai proprietari e ci facciano sedere con i drink ed i salatini ai tavoli posti all'ingresso.

My fish Karachi is delicious...I can have this dish every day.....nothing CAN compare...with this tasty beautiful Indian dish....love it...
