Holdi Rainford in St. Helens

Second time going here, this place is a little treasure. Food is delicious, I am very fussy when it comes to curry and I have struggled to find a place that does good food. This is my new favourite place and it’s only a short ride in a taxi so I am super happy. Staff are lovely and don’t linger over you. Best food around by miles.

Amazing food, amazing service by Kalum and all the staff. Can’t recommend a visit to this restaurant enough. Will be back very soon.

We have been before and will definitely go again. Kalam and his team are outstanding. The food is top drawer matched with the same levels of service. It is everything you want from a night out. Lots of staff on hand who are all very friendly and relaxed. The singing of happy birthday by all the staff was the icing on the cake 👌

This was my boyfriend and I’s first time here. The food was exceptional! Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants we have attended. The staff were unbelievably friendly and polite. We also had a lovely chat to one of the members of staff about Liverpool and Manchester United which was lovely! 🤣 We will definitely be coming again soon! Thank you for such a wonderful evening! 😊

Couldn’t fault anything whatsoever from our Welcome into the restaurant we both sat in one of the booths, … the service second to none, nothing was too much & very attentive ….. the absolute fantastic taste of each of the dishes we choose …. Mixed popadoms Spicey, Toasted & normal with all the chutney tray Mango Onion Sweet Chilli & Mint etc. Our starter was a Mix of Special Tikka Mix & Garlic King Prawns. Main Course - AMERI LAMB SHANK Cooked with chef’s special Balti sauce, the addition of garden mint, spicy yoghurt, cumin and nigella seeds make this dish truly unique taste sensation. So tender & very tasty shared with a Vegetable Rice. - Chicken Rogan Josh. Delicately spiced, cooked with sweet pimentos, capsicum & tomatoes. An authentic Indian dish with a great aroma. Very moorish accompanied by a delicious garlic Naan. Bangla went down well alongside my friends G&T with tonic water & cucumber …. Think I could get used to that 🍸

If I could give more than 5 stars I would this place is amazing the food was outstanding all of the staff were brilliant. Honestly people I don’t normally leave reviews but I just had to with this place you will not be disappointed. We will be going back but maybe not ordering as much as we did the phase eyes bigger than our bellies springs to mind. Get booking you will love it 😊

Have always liked the Holdi in Woolton to Liverpool, but this is a step up! This little gem in Rainford has it all. A VERY extensive menu and very attentitive staff who will help you choose, if required. Food is TOP quality. Prices are very reasonable and the bill is accurate (not always the case) and very well laid out and easy to read. The atmosphere is relaxed. The toilets are very clean. Car parking - lots of spaces. The staff are BRILLIANT, in particular, 'Emti' who was a BRILLIANT ambassador for the Restaurant and the manager. Will be back and looking forward to the Nevillle Southall night in October! Tried twice, never again. The dishes are VERY greasy and lacking in spice and depth of flavour expected from Indian or Bangladeshi food, the Aubergine Bhaji was absolutely inedible, pieces of waterlogged chewy sponge that would not even yield to a sharp knife, I cook...

I have visited Holdi on several occasions including Takeaway, food never disappoints, service is brilliant, always on time, appears clean and tidy, disappointed to see a food rating of only 3, May 2023, (Food Standards Agency) this never reflects on the food.

We’ve been here a few times now and the foods really nice.. the service is a bit slow and you always have to ask someone for more drinks bur it’s worth a visit.

Holdi catered for 24 of us for my mums 50th birthday meal this weekend. We were given three tables to the side of the restaurant for more privacy and the staff could not have been more accommodating! All starters and main meals were brought out in good time, drinks orders were constant and prompt and the team were friendly and bubbly for our happy occasion! Our first get together as a family since before the pandemic and it was made so much better thanks to the excellent service! Everything we needed was organised and seen to professionally and all with smiles! Can’t thank you all enough for your help, service and mostly for making my mums birthday surprise the best it could have been! Our favourite restaurant!

We were in the area yesterday and called in on the off chance of a table for two.Unfortunately all fully booked,quite understandable on a Saturday evening.My other half is a diabetic on insulin,and the gentlemen behind the bar heard us discussing this.He kindly arranged for some poppadoms/dips & onion bhajis and didn't charge us.This was greatly appreciated and so kind.Thank you again, food was beautiful,we will book next time!

Just returned home from a meal at holdi and felt we had to say how much we enjoyed the food....lots of choices ...amazing flavours....and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and also will explain items on the menu....the place itself has a really homely feel to it and also they play good music instead of the continuous Indian music that’s usually played .Highly recommended.

The best Indian food I've had in a long time, from the lamb chops for starters to the Chilli Garlic lamb for mains, couldn't fault any of it. The staff were also really attentive. This will definitely be our go to restaurant when we fancy an Indian.

As our first time in this restauran we couldn't have asked for better service or food. We were given a full run down of every choice on the menu by Mo and Massam also served us and was the most efficient friendly lovely person. Top staff!! Family of 4.. 2 14 year old had the korma. We ordered 8 poppadoms to snack when we arrived and they were huge..Really couldn't fault anything about the service thanks Mo Massam and the rest of the team..Excellent!

We just love this place! We are slowly working our way through all of the amazing dishes they serve. The Napal so far is my favourite but all are delicious. Good portions, friendly staff, 5 star hygiene rating (no dodgy tummy the next day) and always good timing. I tried the Biryani on Saturday and it was the best I've ever tasted!

We are a group of ladies that dine out, we love visiting this restaurant, it's one of our favourites. We try different options, always exceptionally high standard of cuisine, varied and lengthy menu, we are never dissapointed or ever feel shortchanged. Can highly recommend kata mitta King prawn for those that love hot n spicy food. A warm welcome awaits, nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Social distancing adhered to so a safe environment.

Booked into Holdi yesterday over the phone for 6pm, arrived at 5:40 and our table was already prepared for us, no wait, headed straight through. Excellent service, there is always at least two waiters looking over the restaurant, if you look in their direction they’re straight there to give a helping hand, collect glasses, bring out more drinks etc. The food was also beyond compare as far as Indian cuisine goes, also gave us a little giggle when the naan bread looked similar to the millennium falcon. Great Service, Great Food, 0 complaints!

Chose this establishment after a day out to Knowsley Safari Park with the children. The food and service was fantastic. Social distancing respected and measures in place for us to feel safe. Think the managers name is Kalam and he was brilliant and ensured we had a great meal. Will be back again.

We booked this restaurant on the reviews from here and yes the food Is amazing but can’t say the same about the staff. We dined here 25.8.2020 and NO the restaurant wasn’t busy around 6 to 7 table full and 4 staff members.The serviceOur food was just thrown at us on the table the staff didn’t ask our party who had what.just thrown at us and the staff member would just walk away. The same with the drinks.Once we had finished are starters our plates were collected and within seconds the main meal was there. No brake to let our starters settle. When one off the party mentioned to the staff about being quick with our main food he just stated “am one step ahead’ and walked away.The top and bottom of this is I have received better customer service at McDonald’s and would not expect it from a restaurant with great ratings and awards such as this. If the staff are that unhappy working at this restaurant then take a walk done to the job center. I will not ever return to this restaurant. So to the potential customers go elsewhere
