The Spanish Galleon in Greenwich

Lovely pub that is never as busy as you think it would be! Nice relaxed atmosphere and has a very welcoming real fireplace. Good range of drinks and food is good too. Staff are always friendly, happy and helpful, with the drinks being priced on par for any central London pub. Worth a stop if you're in Greenwich.

In with family for soup and sandwiches. Half hour wait for food. Measure of Tea in the cups was very small (about 125ml). The roast potato soup was tasteless and had a disturbing consistency, like oily pureed potato without stock or any flavouring/ seasoning. Even adding salt did not help. Roll and sausage came drenched in tomato sauce (even although this had specifically been asked for 'on the side'). We respectfully offered feedback. We paid £9 for 2 bowls of inedible soup and £5 for 2 of the smallest cups of tea (no pots avail) I have ever seen. No discount was offered as recompense. We were told they would keep feedback in mind for when we visit again! I expect they neither care about feedback nor whether or not we will return again.

The Spanish Galleon is situated in Greenwich and is adjacent to Cutty Sark DLR station. We had lunch here after a docklands walk from Canary Wharf to Greenwich via the foot tunnel. I enjoyed the Shepherd Neame ales as well as my aubergine croquettes. The service was good too.

During a visit to the Cutty Sark on Friday I saw that they still offered the traditional Sunday Roast. Reserved immediately. Had a delicious meal on Sunday in a nice, authentic pub atmosphere. Roast was great and plentiful.

Stopped in here for a bite during our visit to London, food was delicious with good portions. Would highly recommend.

Great pub in the heart of Greenwich. Came in with some friends for lunch and a couple of drinks and neither disappointed. A fantastic array of local beers and cask ales on offer and the food was amazing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Also had a lovely little balcony that overlooked Greenwich market. Would definitely come here again!

What a lovely find in Cutty Sark! The pub has beautiful decor, the upstairs bar is a gem. Came for a Roast and we were not disappointed - gravy and potatoes were excellent. Team were super friendly and great selection of well kept beers. Will definitely be back!

Loved their food and specifically burgers

Don't bother if you want to watch sports! Came to watch 6 nations which is advertised all over website and on boards outside pub. Booked a table specifically for the games. Arrived and staff lovely, table requested ready for us. What they failed to mention is signal is absolutely terrible so you can't actually watch the game just listening to the crackling sound and lucky if you catch a glimpse of the game. Would be great if they could norify customers in advance (as it was known our table booked for the game) or at least attempt to do something about it. What had been a lovely planned day out in the pub was a fail have had to move to pub down the road instead.

Baby friendly! We came here for lunch during a visit to Greenwich, with our four month old. Unlike most pubs, it has great changing facilities -clean, safe and a spinning mobile to keep them entertained. Made the trip out much less stressful!

My husband and I had taken the boat down to Greenwich and were just having a little wander round. We were looking for a certain place and we'd stood outside the pub with our phone, struggling with Google Maps. A lovely man came out and asked if he could help at all. He told his to get there and mentioned coming in the pub for a drink...We thought "why not" and we're veg glad we did. It wasn't busy but it was 2pm on a Monday in February. However, the bar staff and the 2 or 3 regulated at the bar were friendly. Had a couple of points while deciding where to go to eat but saw the menu and thought we might as well just have a bite there. We both had the chicken escalope sandwich - with a pint and a half of ale it came to £33 which I'd say is fair for London. The food was delicious, the service was great. Loved the decor, in fact kept telling my husband that it was exactly the type of pub I love. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely go back when we visit again. Thank you guys. Dropped in for a meal on spec on a Saturday night. Good service, lovely venison sausage and mash, nice atmosphere and good music. What more do you need?

We enjoyed our visit there. It is a traditional English pub with a warm welcome. They greeted us when we went in. Everyone was so friendly with our dog too. They gave our dog water without us asking for it. The place is nice and quiet and spacious. It is relaxing and comfy. The whole menu is very gluten-free friendly. The portion was good too. I only gave one star off as most dishes were a bit too salty for me. However, my partner really enjoyed his gluten-free burger. It is a great place for local beers too. We will go back for sure!

Great haggis! Good pints too in good condition. A pleasant surprise - could so easily have been a tourist trap but felt like the food and drinks got lots of attention from someone who cares.

We had the most fabulous Sunday Roasts, Both the beef and the pork were delicious, and just about the nicest we've eaten anywhere. The service was friendly and the tables spotlessly clean. This really was an unexpected and lovely surprise lunch stop and made me want to write a review which i don't usually do.

Such a lovely pub in the heart of Greenwich. Really polite and helpful staff, great food, warmly decorated with real open fires, dog treats and fresh water. Very tasty burgers, fries and wings 😋. The music was great too. Will be back 😀

Randomly came here on Sunday evening, and surprisingly this place still had roasts! Came with friends visiting London, and wanted them to try Sunday roast. You know what? We did a very good choice! Food was great! All tree different meat were versions were delicious! Portions are big, and juicy! Also cutlery knives sharp, what is rare for pubs for some reason, and we were able to cut this pork belly crunch 👌

Great pub fare. The steak and Guinness pie was super. The crust was heavenly. Of course , the fish snd chips were over the top. Love the twice fried chips and super fresh fish. Counter service. Fair prices. Good ambience.

We visited here as a family just before Christmas. We were looking for somewhere to eat and to be honest decided to have a quick drink here while deciding where to go. We were convinced into trying their new burger menu by the nice young man behind the bar. We were very pleasantly surprised by what we received. All great and the best veggie burger my wife has had in a while. Do give them a try.

Popped in for a quick pint on a very cold and wintery day to be welcomed by friendly staff and two roasty fires. I had the Master Brew which was excellent: clearly well kept lines and kegs rested well. One of the best pints of Master Brew had in the Shepherd Neame group of pubs! Top notch.

Schon das Äußere des Pubs ist ausgesprochen einladend und die urige Einrichtung überzeugt, das Personal ist aufgeschlossen, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und das Essen (wir hatten cottage pie) lecker. Mein Mann konnte sich nicht entscheiden, welches Bier er wählen sollte, also gab es einen Probeschluck und zu unserer Überraschung war eine Angestellte aus Deutschland, so dass die Verständigung noch einfacher war. Wir empfehlen diesen Pub gern weiter.

A quick visit to another beautiful place. Love the atmosphere and quite nice space. Drink was ok. Good location and pinkish paint outside of the building catching everyone’s eyes.

I'll be honest mainly popped in to use the loo and charge my phone a little. The bar woman though was truly friendly, polite and pleasant and I witnessed this with everyone else who came in (was in on Thursday around 2pm). I would recommend this pub on the strength of her welcome most definitely.

We got our fish and chips from Jack the Chipper, and we were allowed to sit in Spanish Galleon and have them there. We only ordered our drinks from Spanish Galleon. The lady on the bar was nice. The place was nice as well.

Welcoming, old school interior and friendly staff - perfectly situated for the Cutty Sark and Maritime Museum; great selection of well kept ales and spotless facilities!

Meget hyggeligt sted, med dejlig atmosfære, god og venlig betjening. Da de stod i mellem madfirmaer, kunne vi ikke købe mad. Men de anbefalede et sted vi kunne købe lækre fish'n chips og så kunne vi komme tilbage og spise på pubben. 👍

Nice little tavern on the way the Royal Observatory and right next to Greenwich Market. They DO NOT serve food so go across the street to Jack The Chipper and bring in your food. I would rank it higher but we were hungry.

Great professional service by tall red haired Barman and knowledge on whisky was outstanding. Very friendly as he had spent time in Scotland so was able to chat to us - great addition to this bar.

My daughter and her uni friends booked the function room for after their graduation. The facilities and staff were great, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The assistant manager was amazing he delivered what he promised and his staff were well taken care of...

Pub was empty at 1430 , loads of tourists around but not in the pub, should have rung alarm bells. Staff fine but prices quite high but then I suppose it is London, £15.3 for a pint of Spitfire and a medium white wine. Beer...

Great place under new management, Marcus, one of the barman, very polite and excellent service. Would recommend.

Horrible spot to be at. As I suspected, the staff are racist to both customers and employees behind their back. Check my Google review about this place for an understanding of what I mean. I wouldn't even take a dump there if I was desperate.

The music was way too loud - complete with other a couple of other customers 'singing along' at top volume - impossible to talk or relax. Couldn't get out fast enough.

£18.90 for a pint of lager & a spirit & mixer!! Basically a rip off. I have been coming to this pub for years, but I won’t be returning.

Went in for a few drinks in the evening, creepy security, loud and trashy regulars, crazy loud music, and VERY overpriced drinks. All in all don’t recommend there much better places to drink in Greenwich like Wetherspoons or Greene king. Just kinda sucked.

It was my first experience with the Spanish Galleon. We had an amazing time on my wife’s birthday party. Staff was very helpful. I recommend for a party according to my specific party experience.

I've been working in Greenwich for the last few months or so and this place has been a life saver 😊, the staff have made me feel so welcome especially Gina and Lauren they are awesome, gonna miss this place so much when I leave

We went in thinking how nice and cozy the place looked from outside, the waitress just ignored us, carry on chatting with their friends. When I try to acknowledge them their reaction, after a bit, was very disturbed and bothered, like we were annoying them. We ask for the menu which was given to us after a bit of esitation, but realising the hostile and unfriendly enviroment we decided to leave. We will never come back in there.

Lunes 2/3/20 aprox. 2 pm. Tres de nosotros llegamos para el almuerzo. Pub tranquilo (una pareja comiendo, tres / cuatro personas en el bar). La mujer detrás de la barra se sentó en un taburete con los pies en alto conversando con amigos en el bar. Pedí comida, una mujer reacia a dejar las heces, pero la orden fue tomada. Un amigo ordenó bebidas, poco interés en nosotros como clientes, mujeres ansiosas por volver a las heces y conversar. Más de media hora después (bebidas casi terminadas) comida entregada a la mesa sin cubiertos / salsas / servilletas que fueron traídas después de la comida (¿por qué no llevar esto antes de la comida, de esa manera la gente puede comer inmediatamente?). Los tres cortamos nuestra comida (dos papas fritas, una salchicha y puré) TODO estaba frío, especialmente las papas fritas. La hembra había desaparecido para ser reemplazada por un hombre servicial y educado. Exigimos (y obtuvimos) un reembolso completo por la comida (que estaba casi intacta excepto por pequeños gustos). A la izquierda de inmediato. Sentimos que la comida llegó detrás de la barra un tiempo antes de ser llevada a nuestra mesa y se enfrió (y llegó tarde) mientras la mujer estaba distraída por charlar y reacia a bajarse de las heces, por eso toda la comida llegó fría. Evitará este lugar en el futuro.

¿Qué podría ser mejor en un corazón naval tan importante como Greenwich que tener todo cerca con un tema náutico? Realmente trae una sonrisa a la cara entrar en un bar con vinos apilados en la rueda de un barco y todo tipo de recuerdos relacionados con la marina. Pero no se trata solo de los barcos en el Galleon español, hay una gran variedad de libros para hojear, juegos para jugar y muchos rincones para perderse por la tarde o la noche.

He estado en este pub 3 veces en las últimas semanas. Parece ser popular los sábados porque está en la carretera principal cerca del mercado y Cutty Sark es un pub pequeño con un menú limitado.La primera vez que fui estaba bien y la comida también estaba bien. Posteriormente me ha decepcionado y no volveré.Terminan de servir a las 8 pm aparentemente, lo cual es bastante temprano pero comprensible ya que parece muy tranquilo por la noche en comparación con los lugares cercanos.La comida de hoy estaba recocida y la porción de pescado escasa y además subieron la música mientras estábamos allí y era demasiado ruidoso.El personal no es grosero, pero tampoco son acogedores y nos sentimos como una molestia. El servicio fue bueno sin embargo.Hay muchas opciones en Greenwich, pero es una pena que este lugar no haga un poco más de esfuerzo para alentar a los visitantes a regresar aquí.

Stayed in Greenwich for Xmas and popped into the Spanish Galleion for some Xmas drinks, the atmosphere and service was amazing loads of fun. Thank you

Time was not on my side in Greenwich and I had semi-frozen on the deck of a tour cruise. So I looked at the menus of a few establishments, when I spied on the menu a proper beef pie. My choice was made.A spot by the fire was commandeered and a pie and pint ordered (I asked for a recommendation for the beer). It was a lovely spot with a few locals, including a dog, giving it colour.If I'm ever back that way will drop in again, possibly for a longer stay.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés ici le 25 décembre et nous nous regrettons absolument pas!!! Ambiance chaleureuse et accueil mémorable !!!! Nous recommandons vivement cet établissement à toutes personnes recherchant un endroit convivial!!Bref, un grand merci!

A pleasant afternoon, drinking some excellently kept real ale. The service was good, music just right. All in all, a great place to spend time with friends.

We had an amazing time on my husband’s birthday party. The function room was perfect for our event: we had a private bar with a good selection of drinks, our own private toilets and private balcony for smokers. The room was suitable for adults but also families with children. The food was excellent (pub food in finger food version). We could also use the tv to show a short video and play our music (spotify list) via their system. The owner and all staff were very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend the venue for a private party.

We called whilst visiting Greenwich. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied - not extensive but good value. Portions are good. There are two guest beers and two others. The food arrived fairly quickly albeit could have been hotter.

Fish and chips were only just alright - small size, SUPER greasy chips and 1980s soundtrack (not my taste). But super location and nice enough atmosphere.
