Fantastic food, friendly staff top draw all around

Fabulous roast ! Very tasty and plentiful!

We have quite literally just got back home, after having a lovely meal. I had the Lamb and Leek Casserole, it was so lovely, it tasted like my grandma’s lamb casserole. We have never been before, but would very much recommend to other people, a very welcoming pub, and the staff were really lovely, so thankyou.

I went here for a Sunday lunch and I was not disappointed at all. My food was very good. It only took the starters about 7 minutes to get to the table after I ordered it. It was so nice and chill inside.

We went with friends for drinks and dinner. Lovely country pub with two fireplaces, so lovely and warm. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Great food, great hospitality. We stayed one night and it was very clean, pleasant and a great atmosphere. Included breakfast was delicious and last nights tea was tasty too. Would highly recommend

Although not staying, met up with friends who were and we ate together. Steak and Ale Pie was a proper pie, not a stew with a crust floating on top, nice shortcrust pastry. Nice beer too

Pour a nice Guinness, good service, lav needs a little update but that's the worst thing I can say!

We went for lunch. We were part of a large party. We were late for our booking, so after the busy period. The food was lovely. I had the lamb hotpot and my husband had the pork goulash. However the service was slow. It took 45mins from ordering to food being served.

Nice village pub. Food was good and served pretty quick from ordering.

Stayed here on Monday night. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. Room was lovely and snug. Twin room to myself. Would definitely stay here again. Great night's sleep. Thank you

My absolute favourite pub. Been going to the Sorrel Horse for years and years. The food is the best. The service is great. This is a proper country pub - fireplace, beams, and all! I have three favourite places to eat in Suffolk, and one of them is here. If you haven’t been - go!

Great food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Loads of space for kids to run around in the sunshine.

Family stayed here while over from Ireland for a trip, and the landlord and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Nine of us ate in the pub in the evening and everyone commented on how good the food was, and being Irish they appreciated a home cooked meal! Thank you 😊

Cycled to pub for lunch. Unfortunately a group of cyclists arrived earlier so food was a bit delayed but we were not in a rush. Nice pub, friendly & efficient. Nice food. Play area for children. Clean toilets.

I love sitting in the garden when the sun is out I'm not a lover of sitting inside as I find it a bit cramped Food is always amazing and good home cooked food at a good price

Although it appears somewhat dilapidated from the outside, there were several cars parked outside, leading us to believe it might be nice. We couldn't really object because it was booked by a family member. Since neither my partner nor I eat meat, the menu only offered standard pub fare and had very few options for us. He had a vegetable curry, and I had a nut roast. He cannot have gluten, thus it was the only option that was safe. I could only think, "Wow what the chuff is this slop," when the food first arrived. My nut roast clearly consisted of frozen mashed vegetables, a packet of peanuts, and a side of more frozen veg and gravy that most definitely wasn’t vegan. My other half’s curry was basically the same as mine but with some curry powder. We couldn’t eat it at all and at £14 pounds each it was truly diabolical and what I saw from the other members of the party I’d have gone and caused a scene but I just wanted to leave and never return. The service is basic and the toilets filthy.

Lovely country pub, we were recommemded this place to eat as we were visiting close by. Very popular place, home cooked food too. We had the Beef Bourgeois, Vegan Lasagne, and Hunters Chicken. All 3 meals were piping hot and very filling. It's definitely a place we will visit if we are in the neighbourhood again

One the best meals out in a long time. Wow what a lovely treat this place was, recommended to me by my parents. Prices on the menu were very reasonable and the portion sizes were fantastic; so big we requested a side plate lol. Excellent friendly service, while sitting at the table near the bar I could over hear the staff being super friendly and helping everyone. I will 100% be coming back. We had the homemade lasagne and burger extra patty ;) Lasagne was delicious and the burger had a real authentic homemade taste and texture. Also the chips were homemade and delicious. Absolutely perfect, can’t wait to try the other items on the menu and maybe even some of the specials next time. Thank you.

Just off the A14 near Claydon, a good old fashioned inn with a good menu and excellent range of ales including one of my favourites, Abbott Ale from Greene King. Had the gammon egg and chips and it was 👍

A very busy pub with good selection of real ales. Delicious food. Staff very friendly and efficient. We stayed the night in a dated but very clean room and slept well in the comfy beds. 4 of us enjoyed an evening meal - steak suet pudding, beef pepper pot and pork casserole. Great breakfast served by a friendly Co owner Matthew. Nice garden and children's play area. 3 marques were taken down because of gale force winds but still very busy. Great value and would highly recommend.

Busy country pub. Place had a lot of people for a Wednesday night, my sister in law ordered the lasagne which she was not overly happy with as it came overcook and hard, I had fish and chips and would say the fish had a lot of oil and grease, my brother had the steak pie who said it was a bit dry. It's a bit pricey, but again, it seems to be everywhere, not just here. There is plenty of outdoor space and parking is ok.

All the staff are very pleasant and friendly and well mannered by far the best pub restaurant and hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying at well worth the visit whatever your occasion. The owners of the sorrel horse are definitely at the top of their game in how they run their business.

I went in as a party of about 12. We all ordered food and it was delivered in a reasonable time as a group. Been many times before and its a well run establishment.

Like going back in time 25 years. Mean this as a huge compliment. Cracking landlord, lovely food, great value rooms and a great location. Cheers!

Excellent food. Very friendly staff and good location. Only downside were the flies coming in but that can't be helped. Good play area for children too. Definitely recommend it

I was brought up near the Inn (in a similar 500 year old house), haven't lived in the UK for 25 years, but the people at the Inn remind me what I miss about old Suffolk, very friendly and accommodating, I stayed with my family for 3 nights, the full English breakfast is great, the staff seem like a family, Chris in particular is super helpful.

Super Pub comme seuls les anglais savent faire ! Grand choix de bières (c'est un pub!), service agréable, bonne ambiance et possibilité de manger sur place. Un peu isolé en campagne ce qui est un plus, bel endroit!

The food was amazing, we stopped off for food on way home, the inn was recommended by a man who we were talking to in Needham Market. The staff were very helpful and friendly, very clean and they were very good at filling our dietry requirements. My sister needs gluten free and they delivered. Will definately go back. We didn't stay at the inn so cannot comment on the rooms.

Went on a Saturday night. Food was OK but not brilliant. The menu is mainly the usual standard pub grub, (burgers, fish and chips, lasagne.)but there is a specials board. Would suggest booking as can get crowded. Dog friendly. Lovely kids playground

I stayed there last night and found it a great place to stay. The bar staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were nice and clean and reasonably priced. The breakfast in the morning was great as well.

The food was excellent, service very good unfortunately where we were sat in the pub was not very warm to which we I'm sure could have been rectified if mentioned, but no complaints.

The food here was delicious, really good quality and good portion size. We will definitely be returning!

Been here quite alot and food pretty good. Went new years for a meal. Firstly this is a lovely pub and staff great. Prices gone up again so expect to pay £14 for burger and chips so rather pricey considering it was disappointing. My partner had this dish in the summer and it looked and tasted great, so i ordered this time. burger was only small but was lovely and meaty . The roll was cheap but the homemade chips great. That was it as no salad just a poor bit in the burger rather rubbish for £14. Upside everyone else loved the cod and chips. Looking at other dishes coming out they looked nice. I will go back again but not for the burger be better off at greene king pub .

Went there for Christmas Dinner , got put in a corner, dinner was awful and expensive , might as well as been forgotten about.

Very Friendly service good food value for the money but it was very cold where we sat nice log fire around the corner will sit there next time

We had a wonderful Xmas dinner with friends on Tuesday. One of the best we've had this year, and very reasonably priced. Staff were very welcoming and the food delicious, plus a superb roaring log fire. Will definitely recommend it, and look forward to our next visit.

Pleasant country pub with well kept ales. Where it fell down was on my accommodation booking. I booked many weeks previously for a double room and on arrival was fobbed off with a twin. What was worse the proprietor tried to wriggle out of it when a straight up apology and the offer of a pint would have settled matters immediately. Carpet in the bedroom was filthy. Radiators were off and the room took a long time to warm up.
