We tried the Greyhound for Sunday lunch. There were ten of us; adults and children of varying ages. The staff were friendly, accommodating and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food was very good, the menu choice was nice and the servings were generous. Reasonable price too. Would definitely visit again.

The bar staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and prices were good, no fault there at all. However, the food we ordered was dare I say abysmal, and I'm quite forgiving of local pub food. Go there for a few friendly drinks. Yes! Dinner. Probably not.

Really SUPERB meal this evening at The Claydon Greyhound Great The welcome when making the booking over the phone was backed up so well when we arrived! Really good choice on the menu then well-presented, attractive, plentiful and very fresh food.... as well as looking inviting, everything was hot and tasty....skilfully created, home-cooked, smart & with originality too... EXCELLENT food & service! Nice atmosphere... bar atmosphere rather than restaurant but great for our small family occasion. Thank you! DEE Diana Cosford

So called new owners are rude. Bald headed man kept chatting up my girlfriend which apparently is normal from him. Even asked for her number which was apparently to inform her when the next karaoke was Never going again. Staff don't know what they are doing they are more interested in their own drinking than the customers

We stayed for 2 nights really enjoyed our stay. Had a bit of a problem with the temperature of the room but sorted it out eventually. The only very slight complaint is the hairdryer was so old it really does need replacing it only worked for 10 second bursts. It’s a good job I didn’t wash my hair I would still be there! Dinner was nice and it was good that the menu changed each night as I am vegetarian. Breakfast was ok, but a bigger fruit selection would be a bonus. Definitely stay there again

After hearing the pub has new owners, we wanted to go and try the food which we decided to have a Sunday roast. Don't go here for a roast!!! Unless you want to use a saw to cut through the beef, and to give your mouth a workout. The vegetables were not good, I prefer my Broccoli softer and we got 3 slices of carrots. The person who served us behind the bar needs to learn some customer service skills - it took us ages to get served which he said "you should have rang the bell", when he was just stood there talking to other customers, in the other side of the bar. We watched him serve another customer, which the customer had to tell him that you dont keep red wine in the fridge - quite funny haha. When he poured their drink they asked for a medium wine and got given a large, which he told them - "I dont measure, I just pour". Will not be returning at all! Staff need sorting out, and need to try their own food before they serve it!

My friend and I had lunch here. The service was very good- friendly and efficient. The Covid rules were all in place which made us feel safe. The fish was excellent with the lightest, tastiest batter. Will be back.

Served by the lovely Rachel, had the lasagne with chips, garlic bread & salad. Good size portions & very tasty ,& hot when served. not too much but not too little. I had this on a Wednesday when the desert comes free with main meal. For deset I had bread & butter pudding with custard, very nice size portion & full of fruit. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal indeed. A far better menu & service than previous landlord.

For months I have gone past this pub wondering why it’s always deserted. Now I know why. Don’t let the new interior fool you, this place is an absolute let down. I must firstly say the lady who served us today was really polite and friendly and went out of her way to help explain in further detail what was on the menu. She cannot be faulted. Unfortunately the compliments end here. I ordered a burger and chips (surely you can’t go wrong?) but no. £10.00 for a burger van style burger (with the bright yellow plastic cheese). I was really disappointed. The burger was bland, dry and burnt on the outside. It’s the sort of burger you expect from those grubby burger vans on the side of the road for a quid, not a newly renovated and seemingly nice pub. My friend (who was here as a birthday treat) ordered the chicken pie. Even worse. The ‘pie’ arrived in a dish, with no pasty base or sides just a dish of watery gravy with ripped up slices of sandwich thin ham (awful!) and a burnt crusty lid. It was shambolic! Chef: quit the day job and please make your New Years resolution to find a new career. It’s not too late! All in all a complete waste of time. I won’t be coming back and I won’t be recommending this place to anyone (expect someone I don’t like).

My husband and I have popped into the Greyhound several times over the last few weeks and have been pleasantly surprised with the food we had had, The choice is good and the price is good its what I would call pub grub but certainly fine for us when after a hard day we can't be bother to cook, always fast service and much better than across the road at the other pub where the food has certainly gone down hill.

Food was great whilst also being at a fair price. However we had to wait a while for our food to be brought out and served. I feel that it is a nice cosy pub with a more relaxed atmosphere. Would have given a higher rating had the food came out alot quicker...

We have never been here before but came because a friend who lives overseas was staying nearby. It was a really nice time, and great value for money with the offer on that night (free starter/dessert with any main on a Weds). The decor and atmostphere were very pleasant and attentive, nice staff. Ok, it's not fine dining but good homely food and completely adaquate size portions. The 3 of us were very satisfied and would come again.

We went on Bank Holiday Monday at 5.45pm. It was quiet, we wanted a quick meal. We ordered a fish platter and a lasagne. 45 minutes later, the waitress apologised and said they were "having a nightmare in the kitchen". We didn't complain as appreciate these things happen. When my fish platter arrived she said that the hadn't been able to find bits of it and "they eventually found the scampi under the..." but didn't finish. The scampi was to follow 5 minutes later. All the fish was deep fried and over cooked. I picked out the insides of some of it and decided to eat some of the salad. There was a browning core in the salad. There was also a piece of fried fish that had two burnt looking chips attached (see photo) that had obviously been attached to it when raw - probably in the bottom of wherever they found it. Meanwhile, two other tables started complaining about the hour long wait - each table was a man on his own. The female bar tender started arguing with one man. He eventually walked out. Then she had a very loud rant that I could hear sat at the other end of the pub, she was saying "you tell 'em it's freshly cooked and will take longer and they're still not happy, what do they want, cheap and cheerful?" She was so rude! She had dark brown hair and wore glasses. The white haired lady waiting on tables was apologising to everyone. The remaining man got his pie and chips after an hour and asked "what do you do when you're busy?" a fair question! The pub is decorated nicely but that's the only positive I can say about it. The service was terrible, the food was horrendous. They offered us a free orange and coke as an apology to be fair. But we'd rather have had a decent meal. I came away feeling quite sick wondering where they found the elusive scampi!

Proper village pub - its a drinking pub as opposed to food. Nice interior and well decorated, much quieter than the crown opposite which is a welcome change. Fairly cheap, slightly pricier than the crown but has a better variety of drinks on tap. Limited variety of spirts (Whiskey selection was rubbish), but would return

My husband and I visited the Greyhound because there was a band playing who we wanted to support. The pub was fairly full and both the staff and customers were friendly and welcoming. We had a ‘pub meal’ which was perfectly in line with expectations. We would definitely visit again.

Went to the greyhound Saturday evening as we had been told that the pub had been recently refurbished, as we were nearby we decided to drop in to have a meal as we had been told that the food was good and reasonably priced. On arrival we ordered our drinks at the bar and asked the barman for a menu and table. He told us to pick a table note the number then order at the bar. There was a very limited choice on the menu. We decided on chicken curry and jumbo cod and chips. The order was placed at the bar then after approximately 5 minutes the barman came over to say there was no chicken curry would we like to choose something else as we had seen their menu online the picture of the cod looked appetising so we decided to both have the jumbo cod. After quite a wait the meals came out served by one of the kitchen staff, who put the plates on the table and left without asking if we needed anything sauces etc. To say we were disappointed with the meal was an understatement, the fish looked nothing like what is advertised on their website if this was jumbo sized i would hate to see the small cod that is also on the lunch menu. The fish was frozen not fresh, looked like it came out of a supermarket. It was over cooked the batter was really crunchy making the fish dry. The chips were average and the peas tasted like they came from a tin. It is such a shame as the pub has been refurbished to a high standard, its a pity the same can’t be said about the food. With hindsight we probably should have stopped at the local chippie just down the road.

This pub is local to us but we always ended up going somewhere closer. We went here for a chance a couple of weeks ago and forgot just how lovely and relaxed it is. Very dog friendly, friendly staff and the food looked amazing. So much so we went back the following night to eat and were not disappointed. Going back Saturday night with the family to eat. Book a table though as extremely busy. Now our local local!

Stopped off for a meal. I found when placing the order to come across as an inconvenience and found a lot of items on the menu not available and more shocking was asked if I could choose something that wouldn't take as long to cook so they could get back to what they was doing sooner. I will not be returning and we went somewhere else to eat instead.

The new owners of the Greyhound Claydon have branched out into food! - We ate here as a family on two occasions. The food (largely due to new chef) was spot on - the steaks were amongst the best I have had and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is friendly and they allow dogs which was useful for a family birthday which includes a dog which cant be left at home! The food was reasonably priced and although we didnt do valentines day here I must say the picture of the dressed lobster(!) looked spectacular. It was nice to be able to eat in the restaurant side of the pub then join the locals in the 'drinking' side. Well worth a visit!
