Lime Tree Cafe in Mid Suffolk

Our Sunday morning spot! Great food and lovely, friendly staff. Can't fault it.

We have been here, on a couple, or more, occasions and have always been pleased with both the service and the food. Staff are always welcoming and polite. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, as far as we have been concerned and I cannot complain about any of the food we have eaten. I won't confirm, or comment, on disability access. I would suggest it's not that geared up for it but will stand corrected on this. I suggest the lavatory is not wheelchair friendly. Atmosphere marked 4 stars, purely because it might not be to everyone's taste. I would definitely recommend coming here: certainly for breakfast, or similar. Well worth a visit.

Lovely food and service but cash only

It's very expensive for what it is. The menu prices are like a kid made them up one night while drunk.

Lovely meal, excellent portions, good value for money and a warm and friendly atmosphere as well. Staff cheerful and helpful, just a really good experience all round.

Pleasant little eatery, adjacent to the TSB. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was beautiful, I had ham, egg and chips, which was tasty, plenty of food for price of dish. Wife had a brunch ( breakfast) which was good value. Well worth a visit to have lunch, brunch or dinner 🍽️. 10/7/24 - we had Ham, Egg and chips, 2 Tuna Jacket Potatoes and a Cheese & coleslaw Jacket Potato, plus decaf black coffee, flat white, cappuccino and a pot of tea for 2. £43 This visit, exceptional food and price.

Always great food and reasonably priced, My chosen breakfast, nuggets chip and beans for my little girl and one bottle of drink and csn of drink for £20 is still very reasonable nowadays!

I was served with the best London fog latte I have ever had with a delightful apple slice. I couldn't have enjoyed it more! Thanks to all the lovely staff.

Best cafes around Stowmarket reasonable prices, staff are very friendly and efficient.

Does good food well and quickly. Hubby always has a cooked breakfast with chips of some description and I have a jacket potato. Plenty of items.to choose from and you are served quickly. Staff are young and smiley. In the warmer months you can sit outside but quite a few tables and more room upstairs. The top step.always seems an issue to us and we often trip.up so beware. However staff bring your food and drink.up so never been a real.issue.cash only which in our case means to us you have to be prepared before you go in as we rarely carry around cash. There is a cash machine round the corner if needs be.

A group of us cycled here and stopped for a drink and some food. The service was quick and the food very nice. Our water bottles were refilled with a smile, we will be going back again 😀

On arrival, we asked if we could sit down and they said anywhere. We did. No one told us we needed to come to the till to order so we waited a while. The kitchen was filled with staff nattering. There appeared to be a large number and not really doing anything. I went up and ordered two breakfasts with brown bread, an orange juice and an apple juice. The drinks were then plonked on the table with no effort to put them in front of us or with the right person and the breakfast turned up with white bread. Meanwhile, we watched them mess up two other orders, plonking only one of two meals on one table and taking a tuna jacket potato to a lady who ordered a chilli jacket potato. I think it was a good representation of the service they provide.

Decent café. A bit lacking in atmosphere and restrooms accessed through the cleaning cupboard. Nice tea though.

Basic food with a limited choice and slightly inflated prices looses thus place one star. Cash only payments looses another star. Food prepared well and service was OK but not particularly friendly, no chit chat whilst paying for example. All in all a bit underwhelming. There are better places to spend my money.

First time so didn't know only cash but a lovely friendly little place. You can tell how good a place is by how they interact with people with disabilities. (I've got my client with special needs) the lady has been very friendly and engaging with my client whereas other places don't try. So it's got my vote 😍 Very friendly and helpful and disabled friendly ❤️

I had lovely breakfast at Lime Tree Cafe on a sunny Sunday morning. The staff are very friendly. The mocha was good and the eggs florentine was delicious. 👌 Well priced, highly recommend.

Comfortable surroundings good food, clean tables with friendly staff.

Came for mum’s 8am birthday breakfast with 3 toddlers under 5. They were SO lovely and accommodating! Not rushed really helpful and calm and offered to take a family photo at the end. I would give 6 stars if I could!!!

Waited over halfhour for a small breakfast,poor quality cheap food not recommended much better places like the mix about.

Love this place, no fuss or frills but super friendly & helpful staff. Excellent selection of food, café style, and drinks. CASH ONLY - but if uou forget there are cash points nearby.

Lovely little cafe and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The cafe was very clean and the kitchen which is directly behind the counter appears to be all stainless steel. This too is spotless and nice to see as other cafés we have visited have not been up to the standards of Lime Tree Cafe. We arrived later in the afternoon, so only really wanted a drink. However, there were a choice of homemade cakes, so I had a slice of bakewell tart. But it seems the cafe still did hot dishes as people around us were being served with them and as we left about 3.30 pm people were still arriving for food. Really nice down to earth cafe and would certainly visit again, if in the area. Prices too were reasonable, not at all over priced.

Recommended by the local bank we called in for a coffee and a bite to eat. Right from entering the place we could not have received a friendlier or a more efficient service. A tasty plate of pie and three veg - sufficient to stave off any hunger - and a piece of lemon slice (also recommended) was a treat. As for the prices - you can be sure we will be calling in again very soon!

Came for breakfast with my family and really enjoyed ourselves. Food was hot, tasty and quick as was coffees. 100% recommend.

Lovely local café in the heart of Stowmarket town centre just off the marketplace and by the church. Café is independently owned, well-priced and very friendly. There is outdoor seating with awning as well as indoors. Upstairs seating is also available. Restroom downstairs. Dogs are welcome in the outside area and there is a water bowl. All day breakfast is available as well as sandwiches, and a nice variety of hot meals. Please be aware it is cash only however there are cash points only a stone's throw away (card insert only, not contactless).

I went here a few weeks ago for coffee and thought how nice it was so returned with a friend for lunch. No Table service. No card payments, cash only. We waited quite a long time for our meals, the first meal came and the girl all but threw it on the table. There was no politeness at all, staff appeared more interested in feeding themselves than the customers. The ham was terrible wafer thin from the supermarket with no taste and a hard egg. Mashed potato was very sloppy.

Food was good but for the price you’d expect proper sausages. Didn’t like the seasoning on the mushrooms. But overall an ok experience. Cash only as well.

Stopped here for lunch while on holiday. A good choice on the menu and all seemed reasonably priced. We both ordered cheese omelette, one with chips and salad and one just with salad. The tea we ordered arrived promptly. The omelettes were cooked to perfection, and the salad extremely fresh and crunchy with coleslaw as well. The chips were hot and plentiful. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, I have paid more elsewhere for a sandwich type meal. Think the bill for both meals and tea for two was around £15.50. Excellent value and friendly staff too

Came here recently with my newborn and toddler. The lady serving was very accommodating, giving me a better table when one became available and bringing me a glass of water when I was breastfeeding. Very welcoming and much appreciated.

The prices are really good for the amount of food we got as well really cheap compared to some places so definitely worth it 😀Also purchased some of the cafes own coffee and tea which later trying was really great !

I use this cafe on a regular basis . The food is always good quality as is the service . I also recommended this cafe to our local pastor and we now hold regular men's breakfasts . Booking essential for groups. With a large group the food still comes quickly. 5 🌟 🌟🌟 🌟🌟 one point to note , Cash only transactions. I hope this will change in the near future Update April 22 . All good . Same great service and I would say a first class breakfast. 🏆

Excellent food and service only let down by terrible condiments would like to see HP or Heinz sauses not the refillable rubbish.

Had a lovely breakfast here for Mothers Day, it's a Traditional cafe serving good food and is reasonably priced. All thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was good and friendly. Just remember they take cash only!

The breakfast here is delicious. I am vegetarian and they offer a yummy vegetarian breakfast. However, the lady did inform me the veggie sausages are cooked in the same place as the meat sausages; this is a little off putting for someone who doesn’t eat meat and is the only complaint I have. Always a lovely experience here, most of the workers are lovely. Thank you

Limetree Cafe has been my favourite cafe ever since it started out.

Cheap and cheerful. Recommend the jacket potatoes - delicious! Only downside is cash only, especially nowadays.

Traditional cafe serving freshly and nicely cooked food. Seating inside and outside is best option, I personally feel the Second floor a bit dated but clean. Nice place to get brunch in Stowmarket.

My husband and I came to the cafe for brunch but was met with complete indifference. The staff completely ignored us. We sat down, looked at the menus and were left sitting there for 10/15 minutes with no acknowledgement from the staff. Eventually, we decided to put back on our coats and leave. Absolutely terrible service. It would be understandable if it was busy but it wasn't and there were 4 servers just standing around talking to each other. We felt completely invisible and will not be visiting again. Completely terrible and unprofessional service.

Nice place to have a meal, though they don't accept cash which is always a pain as you have to then go to one in town and get it out. Thankfully one can be found close by, it's just a bit of a pain.

Had the full breakfast all I can say it would have been 5 stars if it was a better sausage please have a word with a local butcher about supplying quality sausages

My Wife ,Aunt and myself visit very regularly,Coffe always hot..Meals allways tasty and we especially love the Toasted T cakes. Staff are a credit to the owners, always friendly and helpful.

Wish they did table service, plenty of girls standing around behind the counter so they have time. Something I really hoped would stay after covid, not just here but everywhere. Food was great though.

Came for breakfast with my daughter. Vegetarian option was tasty, well cooked and filling - lots to eat served on a big plate. Friendly helpful staff. The breakfast kept me going most of the day. I’m back again tomorrow! It’s lovely to have a traditional cafe in town, it’s always been a great place to eat out at.
