Sunday lunch here today was quite superb: amazing food, smiley, knowledgeable service, relaxed atmosphere, and a beautiful setting. We enjoyed rillettes of confit duck and cauliflower/blue cheese panda cotta, then hake fillet with sweet potato and lemon purée; fillets of sea bream with carrot and ginger purée; desserts were pear and d hazelnut cake; mango cheesecake with orange and cookie dough sorbet. All faultless. We will definitely return.

Visited today to a quite exceptional and well priced experience. Six courses of stunning food. All were beautifully presented with amazing flavours. Chef is quite playful with the flavour combinations, so be prepared to be challenged. Highlight for both of us was the amazing beef accompanied by the most amazing roast potato I have ever eaten. Both desserts were delicious but very different. Toilets were up windy stairs, it is a beautiful listed building so constrained in what they can do. Staff are lovely if a little abbreviated in course description. Had hoped to meet chef but the place was full on a Tuesday lunchtime! We drove a round trip of nearly 200 miles, was it worth it? Goodness yes!

We had a lovely lunch, with attentive staff, in the medieval dining room on the left. This was to celebrate my son’s birthday and they had printed Happy Birthday at the top of the menu for him. Tables were set with white linen, polished glassware and the room had tables set at discreet distances. The food was excellent, beautifully presented. Excellent wine list, we chose a house red and was good. There were several options, not just a roast, with inventive starters. Check out the menu. I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant for any occasion, in a beautiful setting.

Very nice meal and great service - all for reasonable price! We had the tasting menu which at £60 per person was very good value (the table d'hote menu also looked very good). We particularly liked the sea bream main course and also the coconut mousse dessert, but of course with the tasting menu you get to try it all.

My husband and I had a voucher for a 2 course lunch and we used it today. We were greeted by a member of staff as soon as we arrived and shown to our table. The service was good and not rushed. The members of staff who served us were chatty and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and they were very happy to accommodate any requests we made. My husband is trying to follow a low fat diet and the member of staff who was taking our order offered to go through the menu with him to enable him to choose the best options. We will definitely choose to visit again thank you

We treated our niece and her husband for lunch here to celebrate her 40th birthday - what a treat it was. We have eaten here many times before and Sunday lunch lived up to, and exceeded our expectations. What amazing food, the roast beef and the roast potatoes were just the best. A lovely atmosphere in the smaller downstairs room with beautifully laid up tables with fresh linen. The staff who served up were superb, so professional. It was a first class experience in every way, and we can't wait to return. We only wish this superb eatery was near us in Devon, not 6 hours away in Suffolk!

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in many years, namely because there was a good choice for vegetarians & the food I chose was excellent throughout. Too often vegetarians aren’t catered for fully & yet here, at The Fox & Goose, there was an excellent choice. The food was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented (all 3 courses). Found myself with an evening to kill so finally checked this out after hearing about it for years. What an excellent experience! I went for the two course restaurant menu (not the more traditional bar menu). Courses came with unexpected and very welcome tasters / treats before and after, which made it much more of an experience. Beautifully presented. Delicious. Excellent staff, attentive but not not overbearing. Lovely building. Couldn't fault any of it. You sometimes get forgotten as a lone diner, but the staff made for a lovely evening. Thank you.

We have eaten here for at least 16 years or more on our frequent visits to Suffolk. The food is superb and innovative and far surpasses some Michelin restaurants we have eaten at. I require gluten and dairy free food and they always go the extra mile to ensure everything is fine for me. What impresses is that they offer at least 3 desserts catering for my dietary requiements and they are always different and unique. In most places I just get offered vegan ice cream or sorbet we think that the prices charged are very reasonable when you consider the time, the best ingredients and presentation involved. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. We think it's the best value restaurant in Suffolk.

Love this restaurant, pretty much one of our favourites! We were welcomed and shown our table downstairs which we had requested, all perfect as usual . The 3 course lunch menu was offered and quite varied still. The only disappointment was the fish cake starter, my favourite! It was definitely smaller, had very little fish , ( only 2 prawns ) and mainly potato! I would have preferred to pay an extra pound for a spoonful more fish. Our main meals were ,as usual , very good. It was a pity that the “ lemon meringue “ was not a traditional one , with beautiful crisp topping…. These de- constructed ones can be a disappointment……

Arranged as a present for my daughter and son-in-law to have dinner here. I have done this before for my son and his partner. The restaurant are very obliging in that they will ring me on the day afterwards so that I can settle the account. What other venue would be happy to do this? On every occasion the couples have reported extremely good service and delicious food. My son said it was the best steak he had ever had. My daughter reported that she had to eat the dessert very slowly as it was so delicious she didn’t want the course to come to an end! Altogether, can’t recommend the Fox and Goose experience highly enough. My wife and I have lunch or dinner here two or three times a year with friends and we have never been disappointed.

The meat was tender and tasty. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The wine was good. The service was friendly, helpful and professional. We normally come to the F & G 2-3 times a year, and its always been a very pleasant experience for us. The Chef's seemed to know how to prepare, present, cook the food on the menu. You might ask well thats what their supposed to do, sadly in my experience a lot of places/chefs loose the plot. We had the Table de Hote at £42 per person, plus wine. My Sea Bream main course was delicious. They bring small tasters between the courses which breaks the meals up and livens up your taste buds for the set dishes, its a pity more establishments do not follow the F & G template, eating out would be mote exciting else where.

The fillet was not as good as I would have expected from a restaurant with a reputation as good as this establishment has. All three were a little tough. At £28.00 per plate, for a very small fillet, it should have been perfect. In my opinion, if your chef was cutting the fillets, he/she should have picked up on the gristle line and not sent them out. Still, a very tasty meal , good service and nice ambience. Also, the entrance area is looking a little tired and could do with a little tlc.

Every pub worth its weight in saffron has bangers and mash on the menu. Pop down your local Wetherspoons and the chef de cuisine (who I'll refer to as the CDC from hereon in) can whip you up a plate of this British classic. So what would a pub that prides itself on quality and innovation do with such a staple? How to avoid getting lost in the veritable pandemic of sausage and crushed potato that has had the nation in its thrall for the past century? The answer is surprisingly simple: good ingredients, simply prepared, and stylishly presented. The Fox and Goose haven't tried anything fancy with their bangers and mash. Local sausages, with a perfect crispy outside and soft inners. Creamy, flavourful mash that perfectly complements the texture of the sausages. A thick, rich onion gravy that coats the veg and sausages, and soaks into the mash for the perfect mushy mouthful. Anyway, I had the lamb. It was pretty decent. Props to the CDC.

There are effectively two restaurants here. One is a pub restaurant, the other a 'proper restaurant. We were in the latter. There is a car park but at 7:30pm on a Friday evening we had the last space. The building is very old with food served on multiple floors. We were upstairs in a quite large well timbered room. This is a pleasant space but not really intimate. The food was OK but not memorable. They were busy and the food took a while to arrive as you might expect. Perhaps the size of the room exceeds the capacity of the small kitchen at times. The staff were professional but a bit distant and we didn't feel overly engaged. Compared to its peers there still a little work to do. Overall we would go back but with lower expectations than for our first visit.

Easy to book online, and a short drive from our holiday cottage, we went here for an end of vacation dinner. Far better than a standard pub menu, chose the 2 course option and had particularly delicious mains of beef and lamb. Service was efficient although bill adding up not 100% accurate, but quickly corrected.

Great service, great food great location. We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full but the service was slick. Definitely a 'must visit' when you are in the area.

On the spur of the moment , as the sun was shining and we hadn’t really anything to stop us I thought why not go to Fressingfield’s Fox and Goose ! If there is a table free …it is meant to be ! I have had quite a “ tricky “ week heathwise, so really felt in need of a treat. Well , our lunch was superb from the moment we arrived ….they have got it just right there … the welcome, easy and efficient the table beautifully laid , but not overdone the service , friendly and thoughtful the food , excellent 👌, we loved it all! the price , a fair price for such quality and presentation. Thank you .

We came here for dinner on my partners birthday after arriving for a few days break from city life. We were promptly shown to a spacious table which we loved (living in London, that doesn’t happen). From the moment we ordered our drinks we knew this place was going to be good, lovely, friendly staff who read out the menu and offered recommendations made it a great experience. When the food did arrive we were not disappointed, the presentation, the smells and colour were amazing. The mains and desserts stole the show for us - with the steak and chips (partner) and aubergine with gnocchi (me) for main followed by a creme brûlée (partner) and sticky toffee pudding (me) for desserts. Both were exceptional and we seriously considered coming back the following day before leaving Suffolk. We couldn’t recommend this pub/ restaurant more and when we return to this part of the world - we will be booking ourselves in on more than one occasion! The presentation was incredible and it wasn’t even the “fancier” part of the place!

Had a lovely pit stop and food was lovely and coffee superb - only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because the floor where we sat had cake crumbs on it so I couldn't put my bag down
