The Solo Bar & Restaurant in North Kesteven

Got a really friendly welcome here. The staff are great. There's a great function room too with a good dance floor, which I've used a while back. Food is good and a fair price. We shall definitely be going back!

Called in for Sunday Breakfast twice this month. It was excellent twice. Good fun and banter with the staff many thanks.

Nice period building set in the historical market place. Tables are situated outside to the front of the building with several steps leading into the bar area. A ramp is available for wheelchairs although the incline can appears step. Access can also be gained at the rear for wheelchair users if requested. The bar serves hot food which consists of bar meals such as fish and chips, gammon and burgers to name a few. The food is home made and the quality has always been very good and well presented. Food is also available for delivery since covid. Food is typically around £10 per main course.As well as the bar there is a small dining room also. Parking is available at a charge in front of the bar in the market place.So if your looking for good home cooked food in a traditional town bar with an authentic look then it’s a good choice.

Most friendly place,staff are so helpful and Marcus the manager is so welcoming,the food is value for money and very good,the function room which you can hire free if Solo bar does food,hired this recently for my Dads wake,the food was amazing and we where so looked after by staff, the room is nice and accomdated the 35 guests we had,i am now a regular with my family,the loyalty card is worth the money too

I went for a meal with my parents straight after England v Germany game. It was very busy and a good & jolly atmosphere (England won.....). Yes it was a bit noisy and yes there was a bit of swearing, even a small altercation outside. However the owner Marcus, immediately controlled it and apologized, even though it was completely out of his control. This is a town centre venue, after all!The service was excellent and all the staff very friendly. The food is spot on for the venue - good value, tasty, homecooked food with decent portions. In fact the main courses - steak, hunter chicken and homemade chicken and mushroom pie were excellent and better than I have tasted in much higher priced establishments. The onion rings deserve a special mention - now living in France, these are the best onion rings I have sampled for a number of years!!Would definitely return! Nice welcome, staff friendly. Unfortunately food was awful. Took ages between courses. Fish was greasy and tasteless, crumble was dried up and looked worse for wear. Custard like water. Not very appetising appearance. Very very noisy, with people shouting and swearing. Will not be returning

I have just eaten the most delicious take-away three course Christmas meal from the Solo Club. All of the food was piping hot and the quality was excellent. I would highly recommend.

Have had a family of 4 starter and main course take away tonight. Fantastic service, ready on time.. homemade, fresh food served hot. Well done to Marcus and his team who have had to adapt new changes to these trying times.

We went to Solo Bar for breakfast after finding it on Trip Advisor. After receiving a warm welcome, the friendly service continued and the breakfast was really tasty. We’d definitely go back :)

The breakfast at the Solo is without doubt the best in Sleaford.After having the unfortunate experience of eating mediocre to positively repulsive breakfasts on the previous three mornings it was a blessed relief to stumble across the Solo.Sausages butcher made traditional Lincolnshire cooked to perfection Black pudding perfect Mushrooms fresh cut in half not the sloppy sliced kindTomato halved and grilled not tinned and covering the plate with unwanted juice Beans kept separate in their own dishBacon thick and tasty not too salty and not shrivelled up like most doAll topped off with hash brown, egg and toast.All for just £7:00 not just a fantastic breakfast but a bargain to boot

Didn't have the steak this time, went for a starter & main, couldn't eat a pudding too full. Service was prompt in a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of room for social distancing. The food was well cooked and presented nicely with not too much piled on the plate.

We were out for a weekend,and came across this place ,wow great welcome great service, we asked if they did food and marcus the owner said sunday dinneror food of the menu, we went for the sunday dinner we had a choice offered beef or lamb ,we then ordered beef WOW when our dinner came our eyes got widethe plate was full and then the veg came in seperate dish ,fantastic meal service was fab for the whole time we was there, our drinks where delivered to us .we had a fantastic day if anybody wants a great place enjoy a great day out this is the place to go.

Called in Wednesday dinner time to shelter from the oppressive heat. Received a very friendly welcome from the landlord, all Covid protocols were observed and spent a very sociable few hours. Didn’t dine, but the food served to others looked good, nicely presented and was well received. Good conversation with others, and a cheery goodbye from some regulars made for a very pleasant visit. Recommended.

We came as they are offering the eat out to help out offer and ive often come here years ago. Came today and I have to say it was the best burger ever. STEAK was so fresh, well cooked and was of good quality! Plus home cooked chips! Hard to find anywhere that does home cooked chips. Child friendly and also outdoor seating in the market place. Such a friendly atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Will be coming back here again for sure!.

We popped in here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. My husband ordered a full English and I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast.Both meals were excellent, freshly cooked and the host was a really nice chap and gave great service. The tea/coffee with refills (if required) was also welcome and had we not had other things to do, would probably have lingered.

This restaurant varies depending on when you visit and what staff are there. They are generally friendly, but the service is sometimes slow. The breakfast menu is very good and the fish and chips are delicious.

Fantastic night, excellent entertainment for the children. Didn't try the food, but it looked lovely. Definitely be there again this year, thank you Marcus and staff.

Went here as a third choice when two other restaurants were full, was really pleased. Nice friendly service, comfortable surroundings and great value food. We had two ribeye steaks and a bottle of wine for £30, both were cooked exactly as requested and melted in your mouth.

To start with the staff are lovely very friendly and helpful I ordered a drink at the bar and asked for a menu was served with a smile and had a bit of a chat, was told a tab would be set up for me. I went and sat down, within minutes was approached again to find out what I'd like to order, I have been looked after all the time I've been here. I ordered the brie and cranberry absolutely beautiful and the roast lamb. The price for 2 courses is amazing and I'm gonna seriously pop. Thank you Viki for your amazing service and smile, thank you Marcus for your over all customer appreciation and care.

We often have lunch here and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, well presented and reasonably priced. The décor is, maybe, a bit dated but the friendly welcome and good service more than make up for that.

Just been here for our Christmas Lunch. Was packed but drinks and food were served promptly. Food was hot and plentiful. Well done to Marcus and his Team!

On arrival the outside of the building is in keeping with the traditional brick of the town , tidy but dated. The steps into the premises are not suitable for wheel chairs or pushchairs, however they have access round the rear so ASK. We rented the back bar , there is also a function room , this looked lovely., the owner set up a Christmas tree for our family dinner , lovely touch, there was a bar in this room so no need to enter the main bar. The menu was set out nice with special boards and the pricing was competitive. The food came out together and was hot this is impressive for a table of 14+ well done. Some of the senior adults on our table are awkward and asked for extra items , mash with butter instead of roasts, Yorkshire pudding etc this was no trouble and given with no extra cost . Very generous again 14+ people. The staff were friendly, attentive even with how busy they are. I will be visiting again to sample the steak night.

Booked a meal for our staff, at the Solo, and was not sure what to expect. Found a warm friendly welcome. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. The host was attentive. The highlight was probably the home made shortbread though the whole meal was above average as xmas meals can get to be a little the same by this point - The Turkey had flavour and still succulent- Lincolnshire sausage in the pigs in blanket. It is nice to know there are places you can go where the people serving realise they are part of the experience.

We popped in this morning for breakfast and to watch the rugby. Despite being extremely busy we were looked after superbly by Markus and breakfast at a very reasonable price. The service was brilliant and we will certainly be back in the near future.

Lovely family lunch again at the Solo. Although we had not visited for a while, we had a personal welcome from Marcus and made to feel special (he even remembered we were on the same table as last year.) Service was attentive but not intrusive and Marcus visited every table to see his diners were happy with everything. The food was piping hot and delicious and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Come to the quiz night at the solo club on a Tuesday night...great atmosphere and a lot of fun ...nobody takes it too seriously . Food before or during the quiz is great value for money. Host Tracey and staff are so welcoming.....best place in Sleaford by far

The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside with several rooms to sit in. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in. The burgers were excellent and all the food was presented well. We will return.

A group of around 30 of us pre-booked the tables and food from the Christmas menu. The staff were charming. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and we were all served at the same time. There were plenty of vegetables, gravy was at the table at the same time as the meal. This was one of the best group meals I have ever had. The owner, chef and team deserve a huge round of applause.

Good food, Sunday lunch is great. So good my granddaughter 13 chose to have her birthday meal here. Friendly staff and good service. Always a good place to take visitors to us.

Really superb full English Breakfast, Stopped at Solo this morning for breakfast after meeting and am impressed. superbly cooked large portions(good size meal) Recommend.

If you’ve not tried it I urge you to do so. I’ve yet to try the breakfast it looks very appetising the food his great, and set at the right price.

Had Sunday lunch here. Service was attentive and efficient. £80 for four with meals, drinks and wine is great value. The compromise is in the taste of the food. Powdery roast potatoes, bland sliced beef and gravy. Would I go again? Probably not, I’d prefer to pay a bit more for tastier food.

We came here for a family wedding. The function room is a bit dated with vibes of a 1980s social club however the tables looked very nice and the food certainly was not old fashioned. The buffet was very good and varied and I’ve never had such nice pork pie!

Lovely family lunch with excellent food and service. Owner friendly and remembered us from previous visit, although it was not recent. Special menu for Mothers Day, reasonably priced, food plentiful and well presented. Extra roast potatoes were provided willingly on request for my son and were especially good, as were the Yorkshire puds. Would really recommend this venue for all occasions, with its comfortable atmosphere and good food.

Six "ladies of a certain age" lunched here for one of our party's 80h birthday treat. Superb meal, beautifully cooked and presented. Good service. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Would definitely recommend.

I was running a bit late after a busy day at work and walked into the Solo Bar with my fiance. It was very busy and getting late so I asked if it was still ok to order food. The owner was very welcoming and found us a table for two. We went for the Steak Deal (2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25) The waitress brought us some delicious home made bread whilst we waited for the main. The steaks were superb and sourced locally , hand cooked chips and homemade onion rings and peppercorn source which were excellent. The desert menu was very tempting so we shared a White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake with fresh cream which was to die for ! It was all so delicious and I just don't understand how they serve up such high quality food at these prices. We are going back tommorrow for Sunday lunch as we have heard that it's also the best Sunday Roast in town !

It's an attractive building (apart from the sports banner) on the square and it has rooms which can be opened or closed off in several configurations to cater for different numbers of guests. There were round tables set up and a dance floor with hooks for our winter coats. We were served quickly at the bar and the buffet started with soup, then a fair selection of tasty fork and finger foods. The staff were friendly, efficient and hard working and we had an enjoyable evening

This is the third time we have had our works Christmas party at the Solo Bar. As ever, we were extremely well looked after and the food was excellent. We had a full 3-course dinner with plenty of options and, considering that the chef was mass catering, each dish was beautifully cooked. Even the roasties were crispy! Well done guys, and thank you for not raising too many eyebrows at some of our weird fancy dress outfits!

Lovely extensive menu of pub restaurant food all home made evidently and very tasty. Really polite staff and comfortable but not pretentious surroundings. Highly recommended.

Three of us went on Thursday night, I think there was a Christmas party on as we were in the main bar and it felt a bit bright, but the food was excellent, we had pate to start and to be honest I think we could have shared one as it was a very large portion and very tasty. I had the belly pork for mains it was delicious plus we each had a portion of veg on the side . Unfortunately none of could manage a sweet. Lovely staff and I will definitely be paying another visit.

Really blown away by the fantastic food and wine at the Solo Bar. Real Home cooked food which was so so tasty. Generous portions with plenty of vegtables. Warm, friendly and cosy atmosphere where the staff are cheerful and helpful. Enjoyed the whole experience.

Popped into this place on recent visit to Sleaford . Treated with great respect from friendly staff

This is a great place for quality food, and has a good wine cellar. Has various attractions such as a steak night or burger night, so watch out for the blackboard outside.

I called in here with some friends whilst we were in the area. It is set just off the market square in Sleaford. We hadn't booked but there wasn't many people eating but it was a Monday evening. It has a small selection on the menu and is basically pub food but we all had a something of the burger menu which had a deal which included a drink. The waitress who served was very pleasant and engaging and the food when it arrived was perfectly fine. With another couple of rounds of drinks and the meal the bill for the four of us was less than £60 which we thought was very good.

My husband and I had actually ventured out to go somewhere else (soz) but found it closed and so we had a little mooch around and stumbled upon this place. I was very close to giving this a 5 star (spot?) rating but I found the two halves of it a little at odds with one another... there's quite a small area for dining and the pub part of it, to me, had a totally different atmosphere. The dining section is pretty cute; comfy and nicely decorated. The food was really delicious and worth putting up with the working men's club-esque comments as I ventured through the bar section to the toilets. I had pâté to start and my husband had the pulled ham hock. For my main I had the belly pork and my husband went for the sausages of the week. The price was very reasonable, I had two white wine spritzers and my husband had a coke and a tonic water - with the four courses of food the total bill was £43. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Looks like it has an impressively-sized function room attached too so probably one to consider if you're arranging a party.

I myself am not local to the area. 4 of us Visited on Sunday 21st May on a recommendation from a friend after being warmly welcomed by the staff we were offered drinks and a menu.....I had roast beef with all the trimmings and couldn't believe the plate full that arrived! Even though after feeling completely full after my main, I couldn't resist going for the homemade banoffee pie for dessert ...OMG it was heaven (although didn't manage to finish as was stuffed!!)my partner went for the cheesecake which was equally delicious. Would highly recommend and will most definitely be back when I am back in sleaford! Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome xxx

We stumbled upon the Solo by accident. We were visiting relatives for one night and didn't know the area . We hadn't booked for dinner but were able to eat there. The food was home cooked and delicious. Staff were attentive and very friendly. They've applied for a B and B licence . Hope it arrives before our next visit.

Went for Sunday lunch with 3 friends after winning a 2 course Sunday lunch in a raffle; this has in no way affected my review.

There was 15 people who had the Christmas lunch, from the Sleaford voluntary car service, we had main course and a pudding. The plates were hot and the food was well displayed on the plate, with extra veg too. From all the people who had the lunch it was given 100% perfect as well as the service too. We will be booking our xmas lunch for 2017 without doubt, great Job Solo !

The food is always hot and good quality. Marcus is always freindly,as are most of the staff.Ocassionally they forget things.

I attended a funeral 'wake' in the club early in February and the staff were very helpful and polite. We ate sandwiches, cakes with tea and coffee and everything served up was presented well and tasted better. I would like to thank all the staff for making a very sad day, a little better.

Sunday lunch at The Solo Club has become a ritual for our family now and I can honestly say that I have not eaten a bad meal there.

We've just had a lovely meal here. The Staff and Marcus the owner was very attentive and friendly towards us and our granddaughter. The food was delicious with a good menu choice with all tastes catered for.

This place is a shambles. The food was absolutely terrible. My nan received fish which made her very poorly, when we complained we were told it was fresh even though it was grey. The salad was warm and quite unpleasant. The cutlery and plates were not polished and were quite smeared. Definitely not going to visit again.

We were en route to another venue but fortunately enquired with the owner, Marcus, whether or not we could eat at The Solo Bar as it had been a members only venue. Marcus confirmed that we would be very welcome indeed as the bar and restaurant is now open to all. So pleased we did as we thoroughly enjoyed a full English breakfast with all the trimmings cooked fresh for us with limitless filter coffee refills too! If you haven't yet visited I suggest you do so soon whether for breakfast, lunch an evening meal or casual drink as you won't be disappointed !

Stopped off in Sleaford overnight having never visited before and worried about not finding anywhere decent to eat.

Went for lunch with friends. Everyone was so helpful they came to the table to take drinks order. Took order for lunch. It was lovely. We had a little one with us. Marcus offered to make anything she wanted if it was not on the kids menu. Plenty of food even fetch us more drinks. Highly recommend for lunch and especially if you have a little one.

This was the first time I had visited the Solo Club for a meal, I was in a party of 4. Three of the meals I cannot fault, but one of our party had the Pollock meal which was £9. 50p, she is not a very big eater but was left feeling very hungry when all she had was a piece of fish a few peas and new potatoes, which we all thought was not value for money. She did mention to the waitress that she was a little disappointed in the amount of food she had been given and that some vegetables or some salad would have been welcome. She said she would mention it to Marcus the owner but I am afraid that he just ignored the fact, my friend due to this has said that she would not go there again which is a shame because I thought we had found somewhere local where we could meet up again, very sad that Marcus couldn't even acknowledge the fact that one of his customers wasn't happy and try to rectify the fact. She will not be going back there again which is a shame.

A lovely old building steeped in history, just at the back of the famous Market square in the historic trading town of Sleaford. Now a restaurant serving delicious home cooked food. friendly atmosphere too.

We have eaten a number of times at the Solo Club. We love the Wednesday night offer (also I believe on offer on a Saturday evening as well) the two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25. The steak is great. I don't eat chips however they always give me loads of salad which is great. Service and staff are great.

Called in for coffee whilst walking the dog as they have outside tables. The coffee was fine so booked in for meal. We took advantage of the Wednesday night offer of 2x10oz ribeye steaks with the usual trimmings and bottle of wine for £25. And were delighted with the quality and quantity, even more so given the price. We will be going back to find out if other dishes are just as well cooked and served. Credit to the staff who were lovely too!

We happened across this lovely pub on a day out by chance. The Sun was shining so we sat outside and ordered a 3 course Sunday lunch. The starters we had were mushrooms in beer batter and homemade tomato soup. Both dishes were delicious. Followed by a freshly cooked roast beef dinner. There wasn't an aunt bessies Yorkshire in sight, all homemade and tasty. Followed by eton mess. All 3 courses were, fresh, homemade and delicious. Also at £12.99 very reasonably priced. The staff were all helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning.

Visited this pub prior to a meeting wanting to do some work and was made very welcome. The coffee is great and the service friendly. Very importantly the wifi is excellent. Finally the service was simply superb.

This is the first time my family and I had been to this establishment for a family meal, we were greeted at the door ( only because the waitress just happened to be there at the time, Helping another customer,) and shown to our table, the menu had a wide variety including vegetarian options, The food was really good and plentiful, and served piping hot, The waitresses were attentive to our needs, as were the owners whilst sitting afterwards in the bar, We will definitely be going again to one of there steak nights!

I was taking to this restaurant by my uncle, who uses this place regularly. I have read the reviews and can only say the food was of a high standard. I did feel that there was too much on my plate. The owner apologised that we would have a few minutes wait before our order would be taken. This was not a problem.

We were staying in the picturesque village of Folkingham overnight. It seemed that nowhere around was serving food on a Monday evening. One or two of the pubs in nearby villages were even completely closed, despite having websites advertising serving food on Monday evenings. We came across another young holidaying couple on the same quest as us - they hadn't been able to find anywhere to eat either. Anyway, we ended up in Sleaford, figuring we were more likely to find somewhere open there and we stumbled across the Solo Bar & Restaurant, next to the car park in the centre. By this time we were so hungry we would've settled for just about anything, but we were very pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the welcome from the lady behind the bar and who served our food. The place was empty and she seemed genuinely delighted to see us and continued to be really helpful and pleasant throughout the evening, without being obtrusive. I had venison, which I was a little concerned might turn out to be disappointing, but it was delicious, very tender and with a delicious sauce and very good chips and veg. My son's girlfriend had lasagne which she declared was lovely, also with chips and salad. My son and husband had steak pie with veg, again very good. The portion sizes were enormous and the prices were extremely reasonable. In fact, they advertise some dishes on the menu which, if ordered before 7pm, only cost £7.77. Having said that, none of the dishes we ordered cost an awful lot more than that anyway. Brilliant value for money for really good food. We were so full we only had room for two sweets between the four of us and the lady obligingly brought enough spoons for us all. Very enjoyable evening.

As a frequent visitor to the solo club I certainly disagree that it is "in decline". Always enjoy having a pint in there and there's always a great atmosphere and mix of people. The food is wonderful and varied, I recently went for lunch and we sat outside, was a great place to watch the world go by from, I had a jacket potato and veg chilli and it was HUGE and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend to anyone!

It has been a while since I last visited the Solo and it has changed ownership since my last visit. I was decidedly unimpressed with my lunch, the portion sizes and quality are certainly in decline. I was not impressed with the host who has a touch of arrogance about him. Additionally what has happened to David - an outstanding server. It is obvious that the current owners are in it just for the money and do not understand the value to the community this place once had. Since Paul and Nigel sold up, the Solo has lost its' old world charm and Sleaford has lost on of its' Jewels - such a shame.

We booked and had a really nice Sunday lunch, this was our first visit to the Solo Bar & Restaurant, we are reasonably new to Sleaford and wanted a relaxed and friendly place to take our friends for dinner. We all enjoyed our roast dinners and the portion sizes and presentation was excellent and was very tasty too. All the staff were happy and polite and made us feel welcome. We booked the back room for Karen's B'day. For 24 people,nothing to fancy,Just a nice sunday lunch, The service was ok, a couple of hickups,but nothing to shout about and Marcus sorted it out when it was brougt to his attention. The food was really good and a good time was had by all, special thanks to waitress, Carol you are fab at your job and a lovely person. We would definately celebrate there again.
