The Social in Glasgow City

We stopped here for Saturday lunch and really enjoyed the vibe in the restaurant. It was busy with shoppers and others calling in for lunch, clearly a popular place. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the service great. Would certainly recommend!

So today I booked a table for a night out with my wife, albeit this is for November. But I just wanted to leave this review for the booking process. The booking was so easy to do online, confirmation emails sent. I then contacted through Facebook Messenger. Morgan quickly responded, and can I just say her customer service was nothing short of exceptional. First class service guys, and a special mention again to Morgan for here professionalism.

Came as a group of 13 for a cocktail masterclass, our host Abby was fantastic kept us entertained and showed us great cocktails to make, food was lovely and we were looked after well. Definitely recommend.

The cocktail making class was so much fun I would definitely recommend it and our server Abby was absolutely amazing and so helpful!!

We attended the Beetlejuice Cocktail Masterclass for my 30th Birthday. Abby Smith was our host throughout the evening, dressed as Beetlejuice she was definitely in character! Abby also made sure we all had a great time by keeping everything flowing seamlessly. We had such a great evening filled with beautiful cocktails, food, good music & laughs.

Came in for a couple of drinks, was seated and served by Jess - she was super friendly - great service! Will be back!!

Did not eat here as popped in to shelter from rain after a red eye flight. Lovely spot for lunch gets busy young crowd later. Great service and friendly in the city heart.

Trendy bar selling cocktails and food with the odd package deal for both. Nice atmosphere, nice staff and love the decor, could be a bit cleaner and fresher throughout. Sure I've had a late night drink in here more than once! Love the mirror cubicle in the ladies and the mirror photo wall.

Avoid here for dinner, service is terrible! Waited so long to be served for drinks and food. Then it just got worse, ignored all night to order drinks. We tried to order a coffee at 19.40 to be told it was too late the coffee machine was closed for the night. Ok place for a cocktail if you go to the bar yourself but AVOID eating here. Plenty of nicer places to eat close by with much better food and excellent service.

Me and my niece arrived at the social in Glasgow last night, we got in without a problem bouncers were chatting away (lovely lads) and let me tell you we loved every bit of it... one of the managers Hannah I’m sure she said her name was, she was a great help in advising what cocktails to go for as with me being over 50, I didn’t really have a clue. Would recommend the social! GREAT atmosphere, GREAT service!

I came in a few weeks ago with some friends and we were served by Aimee. She was lovely and cheery and gave us recommendations on what to order.

Food and service was great. Lovely cocktails. Server was Skye very helpful. Nothing was a problem. Highly Recommend.

Amy (lovely English girl) was very helpful when I asked about the menu and the midweek cocktails and made me and my friend Shazreen lovely ‘Soleros’! Really made our girly night out and we will be back soon!

Dropped by last minute without a reservation and despite being busy their manager, Hannah sorted us a table and made sure we were well looked after all night. Food was amazing and so were the cocktails, as always! Great atmosphere and too notch service so we decided to stay all night! Definitely our go-to spot in Glasgow for a fabulous evening. We booked two booths for our friend's graduation night. Some of us arrived early and were let in, but the rest of the group, including the graduate, arrived a little later-within 25 minutes-and were told by one of the bouncers that they couldn't enter without standing in the queue, which wasn't moving at all because the venue was already overcrowded. We explained that we had paid for two tables and a drinks package. The drinks had already been delivered to one of the tables, but we couldn't fill it since the rest of our group wasn't allowed in, and random people were sitting at our table with the drinks we paid for. The bouncer repeatedly interrupted me, saying, "Let me explain this to you," in an arrogant and rude manner, refusing to listen to what I was trying to say. Thankfully, the two women at the door were absolute gems and swiftly resolved the situation, but the bouncer could definitely use an attitude check.

I was asked by the door staff where I had been that night (not being from Glasgow) I said what's its name again to my friend and was told i had had too much allready and wouldn't be allowed in! We'd had 3 drinks!! Very very poor!!! Can't help but think if we had half the clothes on we'd be allowed in like those stumbling in before us! Rude and not appropriate, dampener on my visit to Glasgow as well as my friends who had flown in to experience the city.

It was busy but Cara looked after us. Great service and personality. The manager was the most happy, positive person I have ever come across. A gentleman. Burger was class. Will be back

Had two cocktails here. The pornstar martini was watery and the negroni was very syrupy. There is no table service so you have to order at the bar.

The security guards were two men and when he saw my skin color he started shouting before I could speak to him, we are tourists from Dubai who come here not to be humiliated

Stayed at the social and had a self service breakfast two mornings. The variety of food was fantastic but a couple of elements of quality let it down, firstly hot buffet food was not hot enough and some options tasted quite stale. Berries provided were frozen and still frozen which wasn't enjoyable first thing in the morning. Coffee was acceptable but unfortunately was machine delivered and not the same as receiving fresh coffee in a pot. Staff were efficient and overall friendly.

Mohammed the bouncer was extremely rude to my partner saying “she is getting pumped inside “ while my partner was outside. Of course this ended in an altercation which I guess Mohammed would have expected. This is extremely unprofessional as a bouncer and pulls the respect for Social to bottom tier. He should be fired and will be reported to S.I.A.

Nice spot for some appetizers and cocktails. There was a bachelorette party taking cocktail class, it looked like so much fun. The atmosphere was off the charts.

Very nice ambience, nice bar, attractively designed interior, Drinnie-friendly service outside - you order and pay online. Special and unusual drinks menu, the menu is also more inspired than boring. But it wasn't easy to find anything straight away. The service was very friendly, everyone we dealt with.

Our pizza & loaded fries were delicious. Food & drink were good value. The service was excellent and our waitress, Isabella, very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Rude staff !! We ordered a bottle of wine at £26.95 But they wanted to charge £32 we questioned this it came down a little We then pointed out the price of wine on the menu the staff member said it was for the service charge !!!!! of course we refused to pay this not only was the wine glasses dirty but we had to clear the dirty glasses from the dirty table before we sat down

My friend booked The Social for her birthday night out, there were ten of us and pre-paid and pre-booked a drinks package, which included a cocktail tree and two bottles of prosecco. The table was booked from 7pm-9pm, and we arrived on time. Firstly, the table was sticky and hadn't been cleaned and we had to ask someone to do this, when it should have been done already. Then we waited 35 minutes for our cocktail tree, followed by another 10 minutes waiting for the prosecco, and we were told the prosecco was still "chilling". We asked the staff a few times in the 45 minutes that we were waiting if the drinks were ready, as we were sat without a drink that long. A member of staff came over to us and told us we had to leave our table by 9:15pm and we still hadn't received our drinks! After receiving our drinks we were quite disappointed, especially since the cocktail tree stand had a piece of chewing gum stuck to it and the prosecco was warm. We booked this for my friend's birthday and it wasn't the way she wanted her birthday to go! I don't know if we came on a bad night but we won't be coming back.

Stopped in while walking around Glasgow. The bartender made this cool Martini for someone else and when I saw it I ordered the same. It didn't disappoint.

Last time we visited social with my friends for wii drinks and rita served us ans service was exceptionally great and definitely come back again.

Just stopped for a drink on the Buchanan Street beer garden. Never ordered any food but the service from our waitress Eilidh was absolutely superb. Drinks served quickly and Eilidh herself was very hospitable offering another drink before we had finished. Top service!

Vi var en gruppe som hadde forhåndsbestilt lunsjmaten til et bestemt tidspunkt. Likevel tok alt svært lang tid. Fra vi kom inn og bestille drikke gikk det mer enn 10 minutter før den ble servert. Så var det nye 30 minutter før maten kom. Deretter ventet vi i mer enn 20 minutter på dessert. Kaffen vi også hadde bestilt kom 10 minutter senere. Hva så med maten, den var ok. Men betjeningen virket umotivert og lite interessert i å gjøre en god jobb. Ventetid på mat drikke ble nærmere 1 time. Derfor 1 time mindre til å utforske Glasgow. Det er for dårlig.

Popped in for a drink, was given a menu from the host. Ordered a Tenants & a lrg glass of Merlot. Menu listed the Merlot as £8.30 & the tenants as $4.50. The bartender charged my card for £16 which even with a service charge was over charged. I asked for the difference back & was first told it was extra because they were out of the Merlot I ordered and had to use a different one that cost more. That would’ve been fine if the bartender TOLD me it was a different wine instead of just pouring it and charging me extra. However there was only one Merlot on the menu anyway which was the one I ordered at £8.30. The bartender then left to talk to the manager and came back and said that actually I was charged more because they changed the menu and it now costs more. So the first explanation was a lie, and then they still didnt want to refund me the difference which was only around £3 but it’s the principle of it? She then had to go ask the manager AGAIN if I could have the difference back. Came back and gave me a handful of change that did NOT amount the difference but at this point I had already waited 10+ minutes and was over the rude and unprofessional experience so I just said thank you and left. At no point was I or the staff rude with one another but the entire interaction was just inappropriate on their end. Probably would not visit again or recommend to others.

A very disappointing experience at The Social. I’ve been travelling solo to celebrate my birthday and a new job and have had a wonderful time until coming across this bar. Management really needs to take another look at this no solo guests rule… I was told by security I couldn’t come in because I could “get wasted and they’d have to look after me”…1. Im a young female travelling alone, I’m obviously not getting obliterated in a foreign city…2. As someone who has bartended for many years… it’s part of your job to not over serve someone and security’s to not let anyone in who already seems intoxicated… so maybe do a better job at managing that then? 3. If you have such a problem with solo guests getting intoxicated at your bar maybe you have a drugging problem at your establishment then a pattern of solo guests getting so inebriated they can’t get home safely. Really gross behaviour.

Food was awful. We ordered a selection of small plates which were cold and bland. The “bruschetta” was tinned tomatoes on half a tortilla. Drinks and service were okay.

This restaurant is just a barbecue bar, and it is not expensive, this is a personal discrimination and racial discrimination!! The waiter told me that I was alone so I was not allowed in, but there was a woman sitting at the door who came alone. I asked why she could come alone, and the waiter told me that I was not allowed to come alone after six o 'clock. When I asked where the rules came from, he started rolling his eyes at me and then ignored me. It's ridiculous！Shame on you！know why this the breath round have so many role and Italy dont know well is route comes from, of will the box and management must be mean people to make these unreasonable rules, many people complained this rule and the dress code rules, you just a cheap restaurant, I have been many fantastic luxury restaurant, never have seen such a ridiculous rule. Please stop emphasizing your absurd and rude rules to guests. These rules are completely unfounded. Have you seen how many negative reviews you've received because of them? It's ridiculous. Your security says that no one is allowed to dine alone after six o'clock. This rule clearly restricts personal freedom and is a violation of rights. If every restaurant had such an unintelligent rule, claiming it's unsafe for someone to dine alone, does that mean people dining alone have no right to eat in restaurants or walk the streets at night? I am not here to drink alcohol. I am a working adult. Even if I were to go to a bar alone in the early morning hours, I would not be refused service. What gives you the right to refuse me? You are a bunch of discriminatory people who do not consider human rights. I've seen many complaints about your rules in the reviews. Why are you so harsh? If you truly cared about your customers, you would consider their feelings and why they might be hungry. I am very curious about the basis for your rules. I asked your security guard, but he couldn't give me an answer and instead rolled his eyes at me. I have never encountered such a stupid rule. This is not only about the rule itself but also about the attitude of your security staff. I simply wanted to know why others can dine alone inside, but I cannot. I strongly suspect racial discrimination, as your security not only refused me entry but also ignored me, rolled his eyes, and impatiently told me to leave.

I have been here before and was very good atmosphere meeting new people while on my own andwith friends. Am 38 old male, dad growing up and know how to get home and popped in for 1 or 2 pints to relax while waiting for train after I just finished work. So would be 2 pints max........ Just to be told I can't drink there because I am on my own for safety incase I can't get home 🤣. Apparently all bars in Glasgow doing it.... From a door woman lucky to be 25..... Like she pounced on me from behind. Understand younger ones, or causing trouble. But I wasn't. Simply all I got to do was walk to the bar. It was very embarrassing moment to be honest for me. I had done nothing wrong. The 'social' meant be somewhere people are meant to meet aren't they?? Wasn't the bar staff tho. They were friendly. Anyways went to another bar with manners and served no issues within 30 seconds walk. After looking online, they have a lone person policy for people after 8pm.....but doesn't show you what it is. What if I was on crisis asking for help, or even need some familiar place to be? Not even a consideration. Understand rules are rules. Trust me I've been used to that. Maybe should put clear signage outside saying. If your by yourself. ..don't come here cos we will chuck you out cos your not social enough. Like I said she didn't even ask for safety reasons or that if I was ok etc to be drinking alone. Just don't serve him. He's alone...... Thanks for that feeling.

One of the worst place that I have been to. Never had such an experience. This is the first time in last 3 years I have actually gone at night to pub and the security just said he cannot allow inside when asked why he said sorry cannot tell why. Was it because I’m black? All the others were just let in. Felt such ashamed that I was not let in. In fact we went to revolution without any questions asked. Felt such a shame that this place looks at appearance of a person. Hope the owner of this looks at this and responds back to say why?

What a disappointment! We walked by this restaurant several times during our stay I Glasgow and it always seemed busy so we were excited to try it. We tried thr haggis bon bons and fried mozzarella sticks. Both appeared to be frozen/reheated based on texture and temperature. The mozzarella sticks snapped in half. No warm gooey mozzarella. Very disappointing. We ordered a pepperoni pizza. It was fine. I mean, Pizza Hut is fine too. That probably is a safe equivalent. Save your money.

This one star is for the doorstaff. Was enjoying my night with friends, minding my own business. I was approached by the doorstaff and asked to leave because I was drunk. Imagine being drunk in a pub 🤔. I agreed to leave,as I went to grab my jacket it was gone then said to staff my jacket was missing and had my house keys could I have a look for it. Was instantly confronted with aggressive stance and grabbed,Throw out put on ground because had a bad accident couple of years ago and my left arm was seriously damaged and they had it in up my back I was in tremendous pain.When I was on ground one of the doorstaff started to take my watch off,( saying I am having that)if it wasn't for my friend being near me to stop this he would have stole my watch😡. Contacted day staff today about jacket and house keys which were in pocket surprisingly no jacket but had house key. Will never go back to this venue and won't recommend it to anyone.

After speaking to Hannah and explaining an issue I had, I was told over the phone it would be rectified and if the issue couldn't be fixed that I would receive an email correspondence confirming the situation, having not received an email in the evening I was under the impression everything had been resolved, just incase I tried to contact them via the phone multiple times, upon turning up I'd found that the situation was not resolved and as a result they ruined my 22nd birthday... I don't see how they were unable to contact me regarding the matter as it is a very simple thing to do and would've saved me a lot of time and headache, it's incredibly unprofessional, as someone who manages businesses in Glasgow I find it to be a clear lack of professionalism and management. Anyone interested in giving this place a try should be avoiding it like the plague, door staff are arrogant and rude, management are unable to communicate, what a shambles.
