The Snug Bar in Aylesbury Vale

Avoid this place..tried to rip us off.charged my friend £20 for a baileys. Pint of cider & a pint of lager to which my friend asked whats the price of the beer & cider & the still wet behind the ears lad said £5 a pint so it's £10 for a baileys. He replied it's a double & we only asked for a single. I said why did you give my wife a double instead of a single cus she might be driving & thinking its a single & drinking it could put her over the limit. He unbelievably said " my brother told me to " & I said where's your brother? He said he didn't know. You couldn't make this up could you.. they obviously knew we weren't from the area & tried it on because there's no way it was a double baileys but charged for it..the locals wouldn't use this place if these prices were for them. I asked the guy at the bar in our hotel about it & he says him & his mate's go in & aren't charged that much. On the Saturday night we went to a nice pub up the road & the gaffer said it's happened before with tourists being over charged. So folks if you do go in the SNUG BAR be very careful of what your being charged. Plenty of better pubs than this close by anyway..

I booked and payed £45 deposit for a reservation at 6pm tonight, we have turned up in the pouring rain and no one is answering. We haven't been told that it's closed or anything? We have travelled from St Albans and therefore have no where to go

Visited the snug Aylesbury & what a warm welcome we received! Not only was there a great atmosphere, the drinks where amazing & myrah made our experience with her amazing ‘ nothings to much’ customer service attitude! Couldn’t recommend more! Thankyou and can’t wait to return!

Sadly this place has really gone down hill. Some very nice staff but the stand in manager had a very bad attitude tonight. Bar front full of dirty glasses, they were running table service but said because they were so busy already I needed to stand at the bar instead of joining my friends upstairs and wait for my drink. Unlike the days of old, the drinks were not full to the brim. The place has really lost its sparkle im afraid (this literally used to be my absolute favourite bar that I even wrote some blogs on so I say it work a very heavy heart!) won't be going in there again. Ruined my birthday.

Myrah served us this evening and all I can say is that she made our evening even more enjoyable. She was very attentive and efficient. She managed the place so well making sure every customer had the best experience possible. Thank you the snug team for lovely cocktails and our last night of freedom fun x

Came to The Snug after seeing on their FB page an offer for two for one cocktails. Three people behind the bar but only one person serving in a relatively empty bar. Ordered two drinks which came to amount of £15, queried this due to the FB post to which the barmaid gleefully told me this was only valid for one drink on the menu and I would have to pay up. I double checked the FB post and begrudgingly paid the amount. The cocktails were vile and not mixed properly, if you are seeking a night out in Aylesbury with decent cocktails please go to Temple Street Wine Bar. We then headed there and had a completely different experience with engaged, informative staff and well mixed drinks for a good price tag.

Went for cocktails with some friends. Happy hour finishes at 7, and having queued for 30 mins, we ended up ordering as a group to get the 2-4-1. They tried to add service charge without asking (as they would bring them to the table but we were planning to wait at the bar) then apologised to other customers for the delay for making so many drinks (when they would have made the same number of drinks as we’d been there first and waiting a long time but we would have paid separately!). 1hr 40 mins later we finally had all our drinks. If you have a happy hour on a Saturday night, it should be no surprise that people will order lots of drinks!!! Drinks were good if you were happy to wait

Expensive and slow. Visited last night . Not particularly busy so stood at the less busy end of the bar with only 1 person before me . The only other bar person , at the other end , served 5 other people before the bar person at my end got to me ! No non alcoholic beers .

Great cocktails and live music, just a shame there isn’t more space to dance as the music is great fun

Wandering arounf the Town Centre looking for somewhere to have a quiet drink and found this purely by accident. Birra Morretti was nice, atmosphere good- cant add much else!

Really cute funky venue, great cocktail menu and brill atmosphere. Have been a few times and always had an enjoyable time. Only thing is it gets busy and there can be a wait at the bar.

Visited the snug last night for Christmas drinks with my partner, his best friend and her partner. Made a tab and ordered cocktails all night - loved every cocktail and everything was served smoothly and quick. Really great night out!

Pre theatre cocktail and drink, food was good and cocktails were great. Lovely friendly service and nice atmosphere

Food was not good and so bland , dry and uninteresting so annoyed as it was my sons birthday treat. I ended up with a plate of dry nachos as the tiny bit of topping I had was superficial That was after I asked for more topping 1/10

Popped in on a Monday for 2 4 1 cocktails, greeted warmly, cocktails were spot on, cozy atmosphere. The menu looked good so would go back when next in the area to try it.

My boyfriend and I went to the snug for a couple of cocktails after dinner. After living in London for the last three years I expected to be paying much less in aylesbury. This bar looks attractive but we paid £10 a cocktail (At least £4 more than I would pay in London) and received a half full glass of an average cocktail. The girl that served us was very unwelcoming and did not have the attitude you'd expect for a person working in her role. This was on a Saturday night and the bar was empty so it's not as if there was a reason to come across so rushed and as if we were an inconvenience.

I want to like this place, but I cannot get over their outrageous prices. You simple cannot charge £10-£11 for a cocktail in Aylesbury. The place is empty outside of happy hour - make the cocktails £6-7 a piece - still make profit and you'll actually get in!

Our usual pre theatre was fully booked so gave the Snug a try. We were fortunate to be there for happy hour and cocktails were two for one. This made the bar staff extra busy so there was a while before we got our food orders. We allowed enough time and service was friendly. We had mistakenly looked at menu online and thought we could get burgers, no thats High Wycombe, Aylesbury mainly do pizzas and small plates, our food was fine and we made it to the theatre on time.

Visited here after a show at the thereat. Great range of drinks and gin! Lovely bar and fab atmosphere. The staff were super helpful, friendly a knowledgeable .. and handsome!

It’s not often I complain about my visits to a bar but after the way my friends and I were treated this evening I feel it necessary...we decided to meet at the snug for a pre dinner drink and after asking what offers were available we were told about the Gin offer 3 Gina and 2 tonics for £16.75. After being ingnored and finally served we chose the drinks we wanted. The man behind the bar was already very rude and unhelpful and did not portray a very good impression. Once the drinks were made he charged a lot more than we were expecting. We paid this amount but after did question why it was more than we thought. The man behind the bar said we had not explained what we wanted and proceeded to get extremely angry and frustrated with us and spoke to us in a way that was very unprofessional. After receiving a full refund we left we no drink and a very bitter taste!! I and my friends will certainly not be returning.

Love it here, amazing cocktails and great atmosphere. Perfect for grabbing a bite to eat, having drinks before a night out or spending a birthday!

Visited the Snug for a few pre-drinks over the Bank Holiday weekend. Cocktails are great here and at 2 for 1 on certain nights, it is well worth it. Would recommend the Passion Fruit Kiss! Will definitely be back when I am next in the area!

Definately a well used meet and greet location the new format works well to cater for walkins after work for a swift cocktail treat or stomach lining pizza start to a longer night out. Had a great mix of people of all ages and groups which I think Aylesbury does really well. That said it was crammed and it was not clear whether ordering at the bar or tables was the practice [we did both]. The pizza had a nice oven baked crust but the toppings were extremely economically issued [tablespoon of duck and squirt of plum sauce]. Given that there is only really only one other wine bar, the cocktails could have done better being a bit syrupy or strong. The perfect format and lovely atmosphere and decoration but will need to add more polish if it wants to keep the visitors up after the honeymoon period ends.

Ok I'm being funny, right? We were in Aylesbury to see 'The play that goes wrong' so needed somewhere for a quick bite to eat before the show. The Snug Bar just round the corner from the car park seemed perfect - it was busy but staff squeezed us in, apologising that we were rather cramped.

A place with really interesting environment. Really excellent pizza. I will try the gins in another visit

Visited here today on a Friday afternoon, amazing 241 cocktails and great food, really friendly, helpful staff. We will definitely return, and soon.

This is the first time I have visited this bar, but what an amazing place. It just has a Wow factor about it and the staff are really welcoming.

Popped in here briefly on Friday night about 11pm. Some fabulous live music was on - sounded great. Drinks were good, staff friendly. I'm sure we'll definitely be back.

Great bar, Great food, my pizza was fab, centrally located for shops, theatre, cinema , friendly staff, event nights sound good too , Would recommend.

My friends and I visited the snug this week. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere throughout the bar. One particular member of staff I believe to be called Molly was extremely welcoming and made sure we were all having a nice time. I would definitely recommend.

Went out with some friends and had cocktails at this great bar in the town centre, highly recommend it. Great cocktails and the waitress that served us was lovely too

Arranged a friends birthday celebration for 20 of us from the office, very accommodating with scissors and bluetac to put banners up, even brought the cake out for us with candles lit, food is mainly pizza good quality and reasonable priced, nice large area upstairs

Been here twice now, first with a group if friends second time with my partner both times were great! Amazing atmosphere and the drinks really are tasty! Will definitely be coming back a lot more!

What a lovely bar. A short walk from our hotel on a weekend break was this super place. We had some lovely gin cocktails and what a great atmosphere for a summer afternoon.

We came here for some drinks with friends. The cocktails are slightly over priced but good. We also ordered a flatbread as a snack. We had to chase this and waited for over 30 minutes for this as the kitchen missed this. We were then rushed to finish as the bar staff wanted to clear the wood board. I think for making use wait another bread could have been offered as an apology, as over £4 is a lot for a very little snack.

I've been here quite a few times. I love the happy hour, delicious cocktails. Outside of happy hour I avoid it as it's up to a tenner per drink which is a lot for a night out in Aylesbury. Delicious food and apparently a dog friendly venue!

Sadly, we missed Happy Hour by 10 minutes when we went. It took 10 minutes for the barman to make 4 drinks and he seemed a little unsure of what he was doing! He also forgot to charge me and when he noticed I was still at the bar, he asked if I needed anything else! The drinks were good though, very tasty and well mixed.

Great little place, great choice of food, drinks and specials. Currently sitting down on a Sunday evening enjoying ice cream cocktails, free popcorn (nice touch) and E.T on the big screen. Recommended.

Was a perfect venue for my 30th. They let me drop off decorations a few days before and were really helpful when making the booking and ensuring everyone had a good night. Had a waitress to serve drinks to the table so saved going downstairs to the bar.

Apparently it's wrong to complain to the management that your drinks orders take half an hour to turn up, and when they do, they are wrong...

The Snug Aylesbury. What happened?? New manager? New staff? Appallingly slow service followed by wrong cocktails delivered and then missing ingredients when they are right. Cleaned the filthy table ourselves, miserable manager gave us a filthy look when we complained. Used to be a great place, not any more. Only good thing was the company which I brought with me!

The cocktails are the best in town. The atmosphere is fab and the staff are lovely - table service even for the cocktails and a smile to go with them. We had a pizza too which was delicious x a lovely evening all round x

The atmosphere was great and drinks were good but the food was awful! Pizza sauce was like red water! So wet and made the whole pizza taste awful

Group of girls, met for happy hour which went on till 8pm so we were very very happy! We had pornstar martinis, espresso martinis, gin cocktails! All delicious and the food people around us looked really good too

This place is amazing! We went on the 2nd Jan when everyone else was nursing hangovers. It had a great atmosphere,the staff were friendly and helpful. We went during their 2-4-1 promotion and it was a bargain! Amazing cocktails! Would definitely recommend the apple and blackberry crumble. Definitely try this place! You won't be disappointed!!

Quiet Monday night & my sons birthday. We were going out for dinner but fancied a couple of cocktails before hand & happened upon the Snug. The cocktails were excellent & 241 as it was happy hour. Loved the decor, music & vibe of the place (imagine it's amazing at the weekend) & the staff were friendly & knowledgeable. The menu looked nice even though we didn't eat. I especially liked the design of the cocktail menu. Each type of alcohol had its own section & they even showed the type of glass it would be served in. Excellent, keep it up!

Christmas Lunch this place was only serving pizza's

I was so happy to discover that Aylesbury had a new bar that sold something other then your standard beers and spirits. Like the drink equivalent to "the works". Really brilliant cocktails and all made from "scratch" and garnished how they should be! They have a range of adventurous cocktails but do include the usual margaritas and woo woos! They serve food too but cannot judge this as I didn't have any. Only criticism is that it takes a bit of time to be served but this is understandable as it can get busy and they really do make each cocktail.

£16 for two gin & tonics. A decent drink but not worth being mugged for. A shame as nice staff and surroundings.

Visited here as a couple with another couple. The concept of a cocktail bar with food is great but overall it was pretty disappointing. The cocktails are expensive and not great. We ordered the "drunk wings" for a starter which was supposed to be flavoured with rum, they had no flavour whatsoever. Then we all had a pizza and were all pretty disappointed, the dough base was so thin it looked like a poppadum, the ingredients tasted cheap especially the chicken which reminded me of sandwich filler chicken. The final disappointing thing was the music, even at the start of the night it was so loud, and then they brought a DJ in and it turned into a club basically whilst we were sat trying to eat. No customer service at all from the waiter. I wouldn’t return.

Went on a Friday night for a evening out with a mate...The cocktails were pretty good although the bartenders need to work on their mixology a bit, but they'll get there eventually I'm sure. When the town is full of weatherspoons then ofcourse it's going to seem more expensive, but the prices were what you'd expect from a cocktail / wine bar. The pizza was lovely and I would certainly got back there.

Had a really great pizza here and good cocktails too. Service with a smile and we'll probably be back. Pizza cooked on a really thin crispy base, fresh and tasty. Go for the 12 inch - its thin enough and you'll eat the whole thing :)

Popped in for a drink at 9:30pm, at the start of a Saturday evening out with my best friend. The cocktail menu looked great, but was far too expensive for us to try on this occasion..will probably go back another time during their 3-7pm daily 'happy hour'. We opted to share a bottle of house white wine instead for approx £16. Half of the bar was covered in stacked, clean glasses - why have them here when there is plenty of empty shelf space on the wall behind..the mind boggles! - the bar area therefore felt very cramped. Staff did not 'wow' us either. We sat opposite the bar, at the window seats..not really a good use of the space IMHO..we felt as though we were sat at a fast food restaurant.. the music was too loud, the chairs were uncomfortable, and we noticed the light fixture above us was broken & dangling down.. didn't look great. :/

We visited for brunch, so couldn't really justify working our way through the cocktail menu - but will certainly be back!

Been here a few times and the cocktails are fantastic; great menu, always well executed and the added bonus of Happy Hour every day! Have also eaten here one weekend for a late lunch and enjoyed the pizza.

We visited The Snug Bar a few weeks ago. The service was friendly, my wife very much enjoyed her cocktails and the beer was also very nice. It is expensive but worth it.

Popped in with friends a few days ago as had heard the cocktails were good. The decor was lovely and the seating upstairs comfy, perfect for a girly catch up. But we were surprised at just how expensive drinks were! Most of the cocktails were £8-10 so we only had one each. It was nice but I wouldn't say mine was worth £9.75. The pricing of the cocktails on the menu was a bit odd - instead of saying £9.75 (as the wine and other drinks did) it said 9 3/4 which was a bit deceiving and at first we wondered where the prices were as we couldn't actually believe that was the actual price.... Have had good cocktails in London for less! Prosecco also seemed expensive at £5.95 a glass, but was a lot more reasonable for a bottle at about £23. My friend had a pizza which was nice. We were hoping for a good cocktail evening but at those prices it didn't happen - it's a nice place but just be prepared for the cost and if you are going for the cocktails maybe go during happy hour when it's 2for1.

We visited the Snug for dinner and drinks this weekend, 2 couples. We ordered a range of pizzas and cocktails, the service was very slow (it seems there were only 2 waitresses on shift) the pizza itself was horrible, I ordered a margarita and there was so much sauce it was dripping off (I had to remove most of it) and only 4 circles of mozzarella, which didn't cover much of it. Due to this it tasted off, and the sauce is very sweet (and I love sweet food but it was too much) The pizzas with toppings seemed to have more cheese but still had far too much sauce.

We went here last night for cocktails, but left after the first. The bar is painfully slow, and whilst the staff are friendly enough they are in no rush to clear the queues.

I visited here yesterday evening for a few drinks. The bar is nice although no real noticeable changes to the bar from when it was Tap & Barrell. The music was very loud for early evening and there isnt enough seating if you arent in large groups. The 3 tables downstairs were all reserved and the bar was cramped with the makings of the cocktails. I have to say the drinks were extortionate. We had 2 glasses of wine (1 large and 1 small) at £13.20. Whilst its one of the nicer places to go in Aylesbury, i cant see it taking off. Its location isnt great and there is no outside space, the music is really loud early on and with a Dj on a weekend I imagine its very cramped. Staff were friendly but with the prices being more like central London, its an expensive start to an evening. Also there are no draught drinks.

Recently visited here with my girlfriend and her family. Lovely decor and fresh looking bar. We popped in for a bite to eat and realised that the menu is very limited, pizza or nibbles basically. But, when we ordered the pizzas they came and they were lovely! Staff were very friendly but the service was a bit slow. I can assume this place has just recently opened, not quite the finished product but showing great potential.

We were in the Snug last night for my sister's birthday. This had been booked with them and so we were looking forward to it.

The location of the Snug Bar, is a place which changed hands and names often in the 4 yrs I've lived in Aylesbury. But having looked at the website, and seeing that the bar is a chain, it seemed like a place that might actually last...

Called in for cocktails on Bank Holiday Sunday and what a nice surprise to find the cocktails were made properly by Jordan who mixes a mean "Porn Star Martini" so good in fact that he has converted my friend from her usual "Cosmopolitan" We thought the decor and music were classy and although there weren't many people in it was a nice friendly atmosphere and even though Jordan was the only bar staff on duty he even offered to take us a photograph. The only downside is as the cocktails were so good not sure we could afford many unless it was happy hour

We were here during the opening week, great layout with a mezzanine floor on one side is an open view of the kitchen and the other additional seating. Atmosphere was vibrant and staff very welcoming and helpful. We had the pizzas from the wood burner which were excellent, chicken wings and nachos which were really good, there is a huge selection of cocktails to work your way through. Well worth a visit.

Having just opened we were recommended to try out the Snug. The website stated it was open Sundays so we drove to Aylesbury. Much to our surprise (and we returned 3 times) it was closed all day despite the opening times displayed on the door and signs stating happy hour Sundays. Having received no reply too my email query I thought a review of my experience was necessary

The Snug Bar is a great place to go for drinks. We visited on opening night and there was a live band playing really good music. It was a little loud and quite difficult to talk, but service was excellent and there were a lot of people working behind the bar. The Snug Bar serve a wide variety of drinks and serve delicious mocktails!
