Such a lovely little pub. Went with some family members on a bank holiday weekend with our dog. It’s a very welcoming pub and food was lovely!! Staff were so nice as well. Highly recommend it.

My husband had been before and raved about the vibes and great food. So I went back with him and now kidding the most amazing comfort pub grub ever. Steak and Kidney pudding made proper like my nan used to make it. Feeling very satisfied! Can’t wait to go back and try more. Plus also dog friendly. They have 3 of their own and didn’t mind ours being tied up in the garden while we ate. Also the landlord or boss was really friendly and chatty. This is what pubs should be about in 2024!

I hate to post this review but the last couple of times that we've been there for food it’s not been up to their usual standards. Very oily chips, seemed like they had been re heated. Soup was Luke warm and the bread seemed like it had been defrosted as it was cold in the middle.

#Thanks for quick response!. I adore both cask and keg and have been brewing for more years than I'd like to count. Cask I agree is more historical....which is why I love it. These days keg has more yeast in it that many casks...which is why I also love it! #Past it's prime. Struggled to find any cask in a bar that used to be well known for its cask....and passionate soul.

What a shame this place used to be fabulious, I can only think it has changed hands because what used to be a cosey refuge it where you could chill, listening to lovely music and eating cutting edge food slightly different to other Lewes offerings. Now is a really unwelcoming attempting to be off the wall pub, playing odd old music and this attempted image fails on every level. To put it simply if I could this place a minus I would!!!!! The staff were aloof boardering on downright rude. The food unpleasant, I had a berger described as hand made, but, the mince had a really strange taste and texture, it was just not right.

First time trying this place on this bank holiday weekend. The decor is great and the atmosphere is upbeat and lively, very friendly crowd and in general with the customers. There is outdoor space on both sides of the pub, one is non-smoking, the other is larger but the tables were pretty old and knackered so we moved. The menu is decent, the food alright for a pub. Most mains are set at £16 which is fair but I do feel like the curry was like a premium ready meal, especially the rice that came with the beef madras I ordered. Mrs had spicy Cajun wings which she liked and the chips too were very good apparently, that sounds like a silly thing to mention but many places don't get the simple bits right but this did. The salad that came with the wings was not the usual token, basic salad you get a lot of places, it was much better. There are resident dogs in the pub and they're beautiful 😍 The pub doesn't stock typical branded beers/lagers which I don't mind as I like to try something new, the barman I spoke to was helpful in choosing a drink and it was very nice 🙂

Had a bad experience 1st visit , the young female manager was so rude it was unbelievable, all because she messed up an order and we waited 50 minutes for a bowl of chips and politely asked where our order was, given it was a quiet afternoon. ..but we all have bad days, second visit the prices were suddenly increased £8.50 for 1 pint of Ale....? funny enough I saw the manager whispering to the barmaid as she saw us being served, asked for a drinks price list after Iwe paid as we were so shocked at the prices. I was told they don't have one , I know thats illegal but response from the barmaid was just rude and obnoxious, that's OK you have neither my business or any of the people I was with anymore.

Had high hopes with this place, on the face of it it has everything but delivered very little in value, hygiene and service. We turned up wanting food, it was busy but the offer of a table with hardly anything cleared from it of the last lot of customers was what we took. My wife said the female toilets had no toilet paper, no bins and had teenage girls hanging around it so wasn't a great start. I ordered two pints of beer, that came to £14! Had we been teleported to Shoreditch? They made a half arrsed attempt at clearing the table, which we had to finish off. The thought of food here quickly dissipated and we headed off back into town.

I was hiking with my LGBTQ+ hiking group called TREK/FIT on Sunday 20th August. After a long hike we ended up in Lewes where I had the pleasure of savoring a roast lamb dinner at The Snowdrop Inn, and I can’t stop raving about the incredible culinary experience I had. All of our hiking group were equally complimentary of the food and service. From start to finish, every aspect of the meal was absolutely fantastic. The food was cooked perfectly, generous in portion size and was accompanied by a medley of tasty vegetables. For such a large group we had a private upstairs area and the staff were always attentive and the food orders were delivered quickly. All of this and more in a rustic and cosy environment which sums up the traditional English pub. I hope we can return to this charming pub for another post hike social. Thoroughly recommended if you are in Lewes or the surrounding area!

A comically bad experience. My Sunday lunch ( quiche, salad, chips ) arrived with 7 or 8 actual chips surrounded by a mound of potato shrapnel, detritus from the bottom of the tray, which was truly unappealing. 15 quid btw. A polite complaint resulted in another small pot of chips arriving, albeit after I’d eaten the quiche. When the ( I’m guessing, long-suffering) waitress asked if everything had been ok, I said not really and that the plate that had been served suggested a cook who didn’t care much about either food or customers. Word got back quickly to Cook Dom, who popped out of the kitchen. Not, as you might imagine, to apologise, but to loudly call me out for being ‘childish’. When I reminded him of what an unappetising portion of ‘chips’ he’d produced, he justified it on the basis that it was, and I quote ‘what we had left’. It’s a bold position to adopt, you have to admit. So if you want to go to a quite sweet pub, pay 15 quid for the privilege of eating whatever they happen to have left, and then be insulted for having the temerity to mention that their scrapings weren’t quite up to scratch, then The Snowdrop is the place for you. Nice bar staff, but the cook might want to rethink his life choices.

I have a real soft spot for the Snowdrop as I have gone there for many years and seen it through many a shift and change. But sadly today my partner and I had the worst Sunday roast we have ever had. Shockingly poor standard - a bowl of wet soggy over cooked veg, two dry potatoes and luke warm gravy. Vegi option was thrown together and meat poor quality and fatty. Frankly inedible ..., I would love to return and see the standards raised - a Sunday roast is one of our British staples - easy for any chef to cook and loved by many. What's happened Snowdrop?

Tasteless roast in lewes, frozen yorkshire pudding and one random slice of courgette appeared in the overcooked veg. More upsettingly we found a hair through the chicken skin, we complained and asked for a refund for one of the roasts. The manager then approached defensively and began a conversation with 'you do know chicken are animals?' the pub wasn't busy and this an inappropriate and rude way to interact with a calm customer. I wasn't overly bothered that we weren't refunded but left saddened and disrespected by the interaction. Poor hospitality.

We booked a Friday night 18:30 for my daughters birthday. She had a really lovely roast dinner a few weeks back. We arrived and it was busy which wasn't an issue but there was only one member of staff on the bar. We did book a table but nothing was reserved so it seemed lucky that there were free tables. We ordered hullumi and nachos for starters. These are around the £8 mark and the nachos were mostly crumbs with minimal mixed cheese. The mains where cumberland sausage and mash which turned up as venison so they were not eaten. The mash sadly wasn't great. The seafood risotto was stodgy and solid which was upsetting as these dishes are £15 each. The quiche seemed ok but it was served with under cooked chips and very dry salad leaves. We asked for salad cream and never got brought any. By about 19:30 we asked for the desert menu and was told the kitchen was closed. Then watched at least four main meals come out up to 20:00. There looked like there was an issue in the kitchen but we were never told what is was. We would have preferred to be told when we arrived or even told before so we could have gone somewhere else. We paid about £100 and sadly will not choose to eat there again which is really sad is its a lovely pub. Even if we were told why there was an issue we would have been happy to let it slide.

I was there on a quiet Thursday lunchtime. The interior is quirky and the history of the place is interesting, although linked to a tragedy. The welcome was warm and the beer was good; the food was indifferent at best. The prices though were close to outrageous. £5.50 for a pint of Harvey's (£4.30 in the Gardener's Arms in the centre of town on the same day) and £9 for a home-made pork-pie with a couple of spoonfuls of pickle. The meat in the pie was alright; there was a little bit of jelly surrounding it; the pastry was just about edible. I won't be going back in a hurry: certainly not to eat.

Really poor, - A 1- hour wait on food when the pub wasn’t even that busy - Food straight out of a packet and into the microwave - Child’s portion and normal portion had the same amount of meat, but the normal portion was twice the price -Food came in stages, I had finished my 3 small slices of beef by the time the vegetables turned up When we pointed out our legitimate concerns, the management made us feel as if it were our fault and refused to accept any responsibility or offer a satisfactory solution, leading me to suspect that any self reflection will not occur, meaning that the situation is unlikely to improve The bar staff were also very slow and evidently had little idea whose turn it was and clearly didn’t understand how to run a bar efficiently It’s a shame as the pub is a nice looking building but the service and quality of product are substandard

Had a lunch here on 2/4/23. Had a Welsh rarebit to start and a lamb for my main, it was all flawless and the range of beers was great too! It must take so much hard work to run such a busy independent pub so well! Well done to all the team involved.

When I am in Lewes the snowdrop is a must do, that was until yesterday. On walking in to the pub, it looked like it had been taken over by new owners. And new owners that looked for profit over quality. Looking at the food on offer on peoples plates it was a no brainier to just turn around and find somewhere better. And a word to the wise, you would be better looking elsewhere then the poor fair found in the snowdrop.

Haven't been to The Snow Drop since Covid era of pizza only menu (which was banging tbf). Was a bit worried about returning as so many pubs in Sussex have gone a bit down hill posy Covid. Very happy to say this is NOT the case for The Snow Drop. Fantastic food, I had the Creole Chicken = delicious. Beer selection as always super on point, Bauhaus Brew on draft and Arise from Burning Sky double WIN. Staff super friendly and met the owner who had the time to chat and was super nice. We'll be back soon.

Very nice local pub that also does some good food. It is very dog friendly..not everyone's cup of tea. We come over UK for a christening and had to get a good pint of Harvey's.. the beer and food are good.
