Caffe Nero - Lewes in Lewes

The customer service here is usually very good but... Today when I took a bite of my Pain au Chocolat, it was dry and flavourless, so assuming it must be stale I took it back to the counter. I asked him if it might be stale. He said that he had baked it himself this morning. I said I did not want to eat it. He said fine...and that was it. I won't be back.

Lovely spot to watch the world passing, have a coffee and get a bit or work done with some nice background hubbub. The staff are a really friendly bunch and usually make a decent flat white. Snacks are also good. Prices are getting a little bit steep, and it feels unreasonable that they add on extra for oat-milk.

Very nice Caffè Nero usual excellent coffee and delicious toasted sandwiches. Friendly staff.

Lewes Nero is lovely, really spacious and pleasant surroundings. The staff are so friendly and such great customer service. I will definitely be back. Also, the new coffee blend is delicious.

2nd Update - Really friendly, efficient staff who want to provide you with the perfect cup of coffee. One of none was remade twice because of problems with the milk heater. Lots of regular customers - great place. Update: it is still good. Fast, efficient, friendly service & great coffee. Plenty of seating as well.

This is a nice coffee shop to sit and relax . The staff are pleasant and as a disabled person they took my order then when it was ready brought it to the table, Which was helpful .I went in the morning and it seemed quiet then.

Decent cafe but bit dated and could do with an uplift! Women’s toilets were out of order and my friend said the men’s were vile. No plug sockets anywhere, which you wouldn’t expect in a cafe. However, drinks were very well made and service was exceptional- all the staff in there are brilliant and so helpful/friendly.

Good coffee and food but this place really needs updating.

The staff are lovely!!! Always friendly and they make super porridge. The service is quick and when I asked for an extra hot coffee it is extra hot!!

We didn't have food this time, only coffee, but the new Winter blend is very warming. It's a great branch of Nero and a favourite with our dogs.

Nice little coffee shop in Lewes. They open early which is nice. Other shops open later. So I suppose this is where one could say ‘the early bird gets the worm’. All drinks were made perfectly, and the service was friendly.

Good as usual, but staff a little flustered, and the Amaretto Iced Latte didn't really taste of Amaretto.... Unlike the 'Normal' Amaretto Latte from another branch...

Consistent, high quality and refreshingly busy. It is a node in Lewes and has a personality that belies its chain-origins. Excellent staff and service.

Quick rest stop for drinks...toilets for customers..got soft drinks didn't order food..or snacks or cakes .porridge..toastie..and many more options on the menu...

Dirty and unhygienic We have been here a number of times over the years and found it adequate if nothing to write home about. Today the drinks were not hot enough and the hot chocolate had to be sent back as it was half froth. But worse, the restaurant and the food serving area is filthy. The floor hasn’t been cleaned for ages and behind the sofas is a disgusting mess of discarded bottles, serviettes and old food. The serving drinks serving area was in need of a good clean and the staff seemed not to care. We won’t be going back.

Wow, what an atmosphere. I have been several times now, and there is always a great buzz. The food and service are excellent which adds to the popularity. I have not tried any other locations but I know the Lewes one was the original one. Its excellent, thank you.

Always a good spot here as a good range of seating and tables to look forward to for having coffee and other things, so far have been here for many things either for food and drink options. Better when it is less busy and on early morning or quiet times, so far prices not too bad though sometimes high for some things.

My husband and I with my 86 year old disabled mum went to Cafe Nero in Lewes cake and tea. We ordered and sat down, the coffee shop was empty of customers and three members of staff were sitting down. We chose to sit on the comfy sofas in the window so it was more comfortable for my mum. It had dirty cups on the table which we cleared - no problem. The table was still grubby but it was ok as my mum was comfortable on the seating. One member of staff came over and said 'I was shouting at you to collect your order' we apologised and said that the air con was quite loud and that we didn't hear him. He said that he shouts very loud, I asked him to clean the table, his attitude was terrible and so we didn't stay - we asked for a refund and left. Terrible service.

Use this very frequently but the barista today was really quite surly to the point of rudeness. Most disappointing.

Always found them very friendly and helpful food and drink is always good . Been to most local places for a break ,some are overpriced some are not but still go to Nero as well.cheers

Great stop and 1st class coffee...makes Starbucks laughable. Tasty second croissants...Great service. 1 minor issue, £2.00 to park outside....I'm sure Neros arnt happy either.

Lovely staff that make an excellent oat flat white

I went here the other day with my friend and when I asked for my drink I was returned with an extremly judgemental reaction because the drink I ordered was apparently 'not on the menu' even though it was one of the normal drinks just over ice which is also an additional option on the menu. the drink was also extremly badly made, it was essentially just milk and ice.

I had a lovely time at Nero in Lewes. Eden was a very kind and patient server who made my experience. Will definitely come again. I hope she is paid well.

vastly unpleasant experience, was met by a miserable barista who insulted my company, made a drink which was frankly undrinkable, food which was “warmed” came completely cold and shouted at me when i asked him to repeat a question

One of the staff members was very rude I went up to speak to a friend of mine and I got told to go sit down like I’m a dog and then she was continuing to give me dirty looks and even ignored me when I was ordering a drink I think her name was dasha honestly she’s so rude

Coming from London we usually frequent this cafe in its good position opposite the Castle. However the toilets are completely obsolete; hand drier inoperable; taps dripping and all the fittings are worn out. Noted too lack of any table cleaning. Otherwise staff service remains helpful.

Ordered a flat white which came looking like it's from a cheep coffee shop and a pool of coffee in the saucer. Also trying to find a clean table without finish stuff on and even clean. Ofs won't be back there.

Friendly staff, good coffee and fresh food. Good to see such clean tables and environment. Great staff suggestion to toast their Mini Classic Panettone. The Pork & Pancetta sausage roll with a rainbow slaw salad is really tasty. Likewise their vegan butternut, courgette and sweet potato roll is really good. Very dog friendly!

En route from Hayling Island to Eastbourne, Lewes was perfectly placed for a Coffee / Comfort break. Two fine Cortado together with quite excellent Pork & Pancetta Sausage Rolls. Not sure you would find these in Italy, but warmed thru they really were excellent. Pretty swift, friendly service. When our order overflowed the Tray a young Waitress was asked to take the 2nd Sausage Roll to our Table. "Above and begond", many thanks. The Loos a bit tired and would benefit from decoration and new sanitaemry ware. Hayling Seagoon

They Forget to add coffee to my cappuccino, was served just hot oat milk. Despite the mistake, the staff were still accommodating in the rush.

Of the "chain" coffee shops Nero is the best in my opinion. The Lewes branch opposite the law courts is pretty good.

Needs a very, very good and deep clean everywhere especially in- and outside toilets. Toilet paper holder broken. The only voices heard continuously and loudly were from the two girls serving who were discussing their lives. Unpleasant atmosphere. Will NEVER visit again.

Just popped in for a take out coffee. Nice friendly staff and good coffee.

Easy to pay up after choosing your food of choice

You get what you pay for in terms of coffee and food but given the state of the place you have to wonder. The toilets are filthy and rather than cleaning, a complete refurbishment would be in order. The floor and tables are rarely wiped over and when they are it is with little enthusiasm and around the counter area it is only marginally better.

Nice outside seating and quick service made our visit worthwhile. Some interesting characters present too

It's one of the better coffee shop chains for me. Always relaxed and never come out feeling anything other than ok or feeling good - welcoming people serving, who seem interested in who they are serving. Opening at 6.30am its a jolly sight to behold bleary eyed and on start of daily commute. A human experience not a mechanical one 😊

Really dirty loos and floors. No cakes or muffins, and when I asked I was told I couldn’t have one because they were in the freezer. An absolute disgrace.

We had coffee and sandwiches here before we found out there was more choice in the lower part of the town Nothing wrong with the food, but the décor is very tired. The tables were not particularly clean and were chipped. Staff very chirpy and happy!

Ordered an americano to take away, I ended up with a caramel Latte. Risky had I have been someone needing to watch their sugar intake. By time of tasting I was too far away to take it back. Otherwise staff are usually friendly. Toilets are always dirty.

My "local" when it comes to getting a coffee fix Staff always happy friendly and fast service. Food and drinks are the standard Caffe Nero quality. Seating areas always clean and tidy.

Great venue and unlike a lot of reviews, I really liked the breakfast tea.

Polite and well mannered staff maintain this friendly coffee house. It's been serving delicious treats, scrumptious savory, and hot and cold beverages for many years in Lewes town. Perfect stop on your way to visit the castle!

10/10 friendly staff who are game for a banter. Makes a workday a bit brighter! Of the coffee chains nero tends to be better and this branch shows them in a great light 👍

It was okay not the cleanest would have expected better particularly due to current environment. Found an eyelash hair on the plate my food was on.

Called in for a quick cuppa and cake whilst in the area. Staff didn't seem interested. Not impressed when my cake was placed on a tray right under the nose of the person in front of me, who was waiting for her drink, so she could breathe all over it in covid conditions! The staff member should have had the common senses not to do this, when I mentioned this the uninterested staff member she said the other customer should have moved away?

Massive all stars to CN in Lewes, I was there on Saturday last week after my visit to the castle. I just felt like having tea and scones but all the tea shops were closing at that time. Do I tried CN and to my delight, I was able to enjoy what I wanted in a cosy, easy going environment where a lovely fog was also among the guests (my joy as a pet lover). The girls behind the counter were just one big genuine smile, happy to help in whatever way, including with my request to be able to recharge my mobile phone a little. I really enjoyed those 40 minutes or so sipping my tea and the warmed scone before heading to my next destination and will definitely go back there whenever I am in Lewes. Girls you did the magic that day, something someone else a few doors away only a few minutes before failed terribly. 🙏❤️😉

TODAY SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH 17:30 pm. NOT THE FRIENDLIEST staff in this town. The overweight girl doing the stock taking very unwelcoming and stroppy. The girl making my mocha the same... when i ask for my loyalty card to be stamped she does it , and just pushes it towrds me and turns back and carried on ,,, i guess NOT THE MOST REFINED PEOPLE in the world.

Usual caffe nero fare. As with all neros now cleaning never up to scratch. There's a reason that they are nearly bankrupt. Needs injection of new blood to shake them up.

Lovely staff here. Make the visit a real pleasure. You can park in the loading bay for take away. Clean. Coffee is generally good from Nero. Cakes, as in all chains, fairly bland.

In there 2 to 3 times a week at 7am. Staff always bright and cheerful even at 7. Best flat white.

Open for takeaway only during lockdown, but still open every day which is great. 4 in at a time until restrictions are lifted.

Excellently located Cafe Nero, right on the high street. Very good at social distancing for Covid-19, and very clean. Staff were very polite and friendly and service was good. Good spot to have a catch up or just enjoy a break.

Turned up just for a coffee and a chat with a friend. Male toilets filthy. Bin all rusty and nothing Been cleaned for ages. Won’t be back. No track and trace either. Very bad for a company like that.
