The Snooty Mehmaan in Vale of White Horse

Having lived in the Middle East for 26 years and then relocated to Oxfordshire last year we had been searching for that special hplace that offered a diverse menu with service that goes above and beyond and we certainly found it tonight. This place is undersold. This place oozes luxury, the interior design is just stunning, modern and elegant. The food was absolutely first class and the staff so attentive but not intrusive, we will definitely return.

Having driven past so many times we decided to book an evening meal over the Easter weekend and we loved it. The food was delicious ,the service was top notch and the whole place was super clean. There is lots to choose from on the menu including Indian,Thai and Chinese but be warned this isn't an average Indian so don't expect a Chicken Tikka Masala or a Korma as the dishes are more authentic ,which we absolutely loved, Oh and the Naan bread was one of the best I've eaten! Another restaurant we will be returning to.

Driven past this dozens of times and always wanted to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Such a beautiful restaurant. Impeccable attention to detail. Massively attentive staff. Food is top notch! I loved this place and will definitely return!

It really is a good as most reviews say. The staff were very welcoming and looked after us well. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance which made dining there a pleasure. We were impressed with the choices on the menu, my wife plumping for a Chinese dish with noodles, me going for. Thai curry. The food was delicious and just the right amount too. It wasn’t cheap, but it was worth the extra for the wonderful dining experience we had.

Ate here for the first time on Valentine’s Day with my partner and was very impressed with the exceptional food and service. Usually when you see an extensive menu that spans more than one cuisine the food is average at best, but that is absolutely not the case here! I had a beef curry, and my partner had a Thai chicken dish, both of which were excellent. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and attentive so the whole evening was faultless - thank you The Snooty Mehmaan!

We've been to Snooty's twice but not for many years; once fro a family dinner and once for the Sunday buffet, which has now been replaced by Sunday brunch. It is worth noting that Snooty’s hold event/tribute nights in a separate area, cater for banquets/weddings, and have a dozen rooms popular with business people or for when some of your guests want to let their hair down. So, onto the food. I had dinner for one as my wife was on a mini-break with one of our daughters, so I had permission to indulge myself just a little. They offer Indian and pan-Asian starters and mains, sharing platters, Tandoori kebabs and vegetable dishes, plus takeaway. I chose a simple onion bhajee to start, and where in some Indian restaurants these are the size of cricket balls, the three flat rosti-type bhajees were elegantly displayed, mildly spicy and very tasty, with a tamarind sauce on one side and sweet chilli on the other. Dishes are rated 1-3 on heat and the waiters are very knowledgeable and talk you through them to help you decide. I was pondering two dishes, but settled on the Pondicherry lamb curry (2 on the heat scale) - Onion, tomato, fresh coconut, dry red chilli, curry leaves roasted and blended into a fine paste with spice and heat but not too much, as recommended. I think it was the higher end of a 2 rating, but the heat wasn’t painful or lingering, so I enjoyed it very much and the lamb was very tender. I topped it off with a vanilla Biscoff cheesecake to clear the palate. The mains are mostly around £15 (veg £8) and sides £5, but whilst my beer, starter, main, rice, naan and dessert came to £43 (no automatic 12.5% service charge for one person but it might be 9.5% for less than 6 and 12.5% for 6 or more), the thing about Indian cuisine, is that (most) people don’t get a side each, but tend to share, so maybe two or three rice for four people, share a naan for two, maybe another side like Bombay or Sag Aloo for 2-4 people, so the cost per person is spread and lower. I really enjoyed the meal in the elegant interior and the friendly service was excellent. I overheard a travelling Dutch business man asking them to surprise him with something different and not entirely on the menu and they spent a few minutes asking him questions; he later praised his dish. I'd have no hesitation in returning and would like to try one of the event nights.

Excellent food (both in quality and quantity) and service, a class above your average Indian restaurant. Nicely laid out and plenty of parking. Will go again. .

Sunday lunch choice was limited to Thali dishes. Well, the meat thali selection was absolutely brilliant and great value too. The staff were attentive and friendly. Just amazing meal.

We had a fantastic family function for 30+ guests at The Snooty Mehmaan. As always the food was fabulous (we’ve had food here several times before). Syed was amazing as he worked with us on a suitable menu (gluten-free options, vegetarian options, diabetics, nut allergies, …) and he and his staff made everyone very welcome on the day. Service was excellent. We would definitely recommend the venue for functions, or simply to pop in to the restaurant for a meal! This was the first time we stayed the night here and the rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfasts were great too - loved the dosa!

Best curry in ages! We booked for my daughter’s 11th Birthday. They greeted us do warmly, wished her Happy Birthday and couldn’t be more hospitable. The food was heavenly, from the salt and pepper squid, crispy duck spring rolls, Malai King Prawn curry, Chicken tikka labrabdar, Thai chicken and tiramisu. We loved it and will definitely be back.

I stayed for one night in the Hotel and also ate in the restaurant, it was almost a really good experience ! I stay in Hotels all over the world in my professional life and it’s fair to say I’m picky, it’s also fair to say I’m fair. The welcome I received when I arrived was probably the best greeting I have received anywhere in the world, I think the gentleman was the manager (alas I didn’t get his name), he was waiting for me outside the front door, immediately greeted me by name and took my bag from me. I walked into a very impressive looking reception area and then with a minimum of faffing at the desk my new best mate escorted me to my room through a series of beautifully and tastefully decorated corridors that smelt amazing (some sort of floral scent). I was duly introduced to my room and bathed in the heady satisfaction of choosing well ! I noticed that the bathroom was a little cold but surmised that as I had only just got in then it hadn’t heated up properly yet as it was quite a large space, I ventured down for dinner. The food here is superb, I had the Chef’s signature lamb dish which was historic in taste but a little too spicy for my delicate palette. Alas I have to say at this point my stay stopped being so enjoyable. I don’t eat very much in general and usually half a portion of what one might consider a normal meal will suffice, I duly ate about this amount and spiciness aside I was satiated. I then started to get admonished for not finishing the entire meal by my former best mate who seemed to be insisting that I applied some yoghurt in order to finish it. I explained that I had eaten enough in the vain hope that he would be satisfied with my explanation but he persisted until I just didn’t know what else to say so I got up and put my coat on. I returned to my room and the previously cold bathroom had gone up a few levels, the radiator was off (it was on a timer that automatically clicked off at 9pm) and was positively arctic, cold breath was now visible and it just wasn’t possible to stay in there for any length of time let alone take a shower, I retreated to my room where there was a heater and went to sleep. The morning brought about a continuation of the bathroom dilemma and I had to forego the much needed ablusions and just cleaned my teeth, at this point I noticed that there was no bathroom mirror. A very grubby me emerged from my room and ventured downstairs for breakfast, which, as expected was utterly delicious. I only finished half of it and as expected came under some sustained pressure to eat more, I did well to hold my peace ……. !!! This is a lovely Hotel and Restaurant, they are just getting some basic things wrong…….. so close…..

We wanted to do something different for this year's Christmas lunch. We booked at the Snooty for the 12.00 noon sitting. Our party of 8 was absolutely delighted with every aspect of our lunch: the booking was easy and efficient, the welcome on arrival was warm, the service during lunch for drinks was attentive, the food was out of this world. Extra little touches like our waiter offering to take photos of our party were much appreciated. The room decor was just right, the atmosphere was great, the music not too intrusive. It looked like everyone else in the room was having a great time. We just ask ourselves why we didn't do this before, and will be returning next year for Christmas and visiting the Snooty during the year, of course! A huge pat on the back to all the staff - front and back of house - who made our Christmas day extra special! Many thanks:)

As usual excellent service was matched by food full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Going here is a high spot for my visits to south Oxfordshire. This restaurant never disappoints in quality and taste.

We had dinner a few days ago and can only recommend this place. The food was amazing! I ordered the vegetarian Jalfrezi and it was the best curry I have ever had. The vegetables were cooked to perfection! Beautiful daal too, and any place that serves Aspall cider is in my good books. The service was attentive and polite, and the food arrived quickly. It was a perfect evening in a stylish restaurant.

Thought we would give it a try as they had a 20% offer on for takeaway - ordered Pad Thai and some sides. The pad Thai was bland and very sweet. Food was average not the standard we thought it would be for the price Unfortunately will not be returning

Overall really disappointed with our takeaway this evening! The quality and quantity of food received was appalling. Our meal tasted like it was out of a jar and was expecting so much more for the price we paid! Even with discount for ordering online we spent £40 and didn’t receive enough food for two, won’t be returning that’s for sure!

I ordered my food online, I forgot a dish, when I went back and added it, I realised I had completely reordered the whole lot again. Phoned instantly to cancel the second order. Was told by the man who answered that there was not a problem and he thought it odd that I'd done it. He went on to tell me that my card would be refunded as soon as his boss came in to work. I waited a couple of days and phoned again, still not processed the refund. Phoned again and was told the refund had been processed, but it would take up to a week to show up on my statement. That was in July. Luckily I paid by credit card, I have taken the matter up with the bank and will get a refund eventually.Very upsetting experience, will never order from them again.

The first time we went, before COVID, it was very much average but the 2nd time we ordered was for take away. The web site is very easy to use and order through. We ordered the lamb medras but it was not good. Way too much lemon grass! So our once a month take away was a real let down. It’s such a shame as it could be so better.

Having visited this restaurant many times I am always amazed at the constant standard of service, food and ambiance. Given that it also says Lounge Bar and Restaurant on the sign I’ve taken to popping in for a “beer and a poppadom” or two - always very welcoming.

Christmas Day lunch , second sitting , buffet service as much as you want to eat.Good choice of Indian /Asian food as well as traditional Christmas food . We had Indian dishes which were very tasty .The staff were friendly and welcoming. My own personal dissapointment was that much of the food (chicken especially) was luke warm .This was probably because it was second sitting and other diners left lids open after serving themselves.

4 of us came here for the ABBA tribute night in December. The entertainment was superb. Food was lovely and tasty with good service. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you very much.

Stopped here on our way back from a visit to see Santa with our three children aged 9,6 and 7 months. They treated our girls like princesses going above and beyond to accommodate them. Even providing chicken goujons and chips for my fussy 6 year old. Everything was delicious and we were all “mmming” our way through our meal. We will definitely be returning

My friends and I came to snooty for an ABBA tribute band and Indian buffet. It was awesome. There were about 60 guests and the restaurant had got the balance of guests to floor space for dinner, then dancing absolutely right. The team were attentive directing people to the buffet with efficiency and effectiveness. The buffet was delicious and seemed to cater for everyone’s tastes. Everyone in my party really enjoyed the entertainment,the portion size and quality of the food. We agreed that it’s a place to come back to for another event. Brilliant team !!!! Thank you

Had an absolutely great time. The staff are really nice and you are left wanting for nothing. The act was amazing he could really sing and was a fabulous entertainer. If you like good food and fun this is definitely worth a visit.

First visit - extensive menu with wide choice of Indian and Thai dishes. Head waiter tells you what’s in each dish you order which can be useful or patronising depending on your viewpoint. Drinks served quickly, food slower even though not busy - worried there’d be a long wait if all tables full, but it was acceptable on our visit. Nice surroundings and tasty food - enjoyable evening, would visit again.

Ate here after living close by for years and wondering why the car park is always full. After checking it out on trip advisor we decided to go when my wife and my parents were visiting. We all had starters to share and mains. The food was really nice and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Definitely worth a try if you are passing or live nearby.

Presumably once a roadside pub, now has a good car park, charming waitresses, and little else. Head waiter bossy to customers and staff, but inadequate. Of nine dishes, one left out a key ingredient (he blamed the kitchen but did nothing to rectify), three were over-cooked until meat or prawns were dry (microwaved to warm up sauces from freezer?).

I honestly don't think I could go anywhere else and know that I'm going to get an amazing tasting meal quite like I can here. Dangerous having it down the road from my house as now I'm always craving Indian food!! Good service. Food always tastes brilliant!

Was out for a drive and needed to eat drove here 100's of times in the past but this time decided to stop, so glad we did, lovely restaurant, good ambiance, good menu and charming staff, food prices competitive with in town places, lovely.

This is no ordinary Indian/Thai restaurant. Undoubtedly one of the finest in the county. As usual I had a chicken biryani served in a beautiful earthenware pot with lid and special madras sauce. Incredibly flavoursome! Great quality and quantity food at a very fair price, served with a smile in a very pleasant, clean and spacious restaurant. What more could you ask for?? Do give it a try you won't be disappointed!

the staff were immediately friendly, the atmosphere was cordial and the toilets were spotless! The food was terrific. It was a difficult choice between Indian or Thai but we went for the latter. Next visit we will try the Indian Menu

Staying at Mollie’s Motel about 5 mins away and they recommended eating at the Snooty. It was quite quiet for 8pm but the location on the A420 probably has a lot to do with that.

A delicious meal, served by attentive and very courteous staff. Lovely linen, glassware and cutlery and top marks for cleanliness. The hot (temperature) food was delicious, served on hot plates in hot serving dishes. A rarity but so lovely to have this. Thank you chef!!

I visited this place when it first opened, probably over a decade ago and it had some teething problems as expected.

Wow... we are lost for words. My fiancé is Indian and very picky regarding Indian food and I can honestly say that was one of the best meals we have ever had. Brilliant service, fantastic experience. The food was outstanding, thank you very much!

Moving to the area soon, we thought we would try out an Indian/Thai meal. We weren’t disappointed with this fabulous restaurant. The waiting staff were very attentive and the food was superb... I had Thai and my husband and family had Indian... we all agree it was simply the best!! A***

I have grown up on Indian and Bangladeshi food, got a takeaway from here (Indian and Thai) and the food was absolutely out of this world. Amazing, so tasty, a little on the pricey side but for what you pay, the flavours are incredible. Hoping to dine in the restaurant next time!

A party of five visited this restaurant for the buffet Sunday lunch. The buffet was a good selection of Indian and Thai food (I found the Indian of better quality than the thai) and the it was particularly nice to see a fish curry included. The service generally was attentive and the drinks menu gave a wide selection, especially of gins. The overall bill came to £12 a head for food plus drinks which we thought was exceptionally reasonable.

Stayed in Burford visiting my Dad who has Vascular Dementia, I cannot begin to tell you how well we were treated, as we arrived staff opened doors as we had Dad in his wheelchair they then put a portable ramp down a few steps and escorted us to our table.

First time visit to the restaurant after being recommended by friends and we were not disappointed!

We’ve had a few takeaways from here and really love the food! We’ve had a one off problem where we got a chicken curry instead of lamb, but the curry tasted so good, it really didn’t matter! There’s often a wait to collect orders on a Saturday night but that’s only to be expected when you see how busy the restaurant is. For somewhere more remote, it really seems to attract the customers! Order well in advance on a Saturday evening (we tend to make sure we order before 6 but you can choose a collection time) and you won’t go far wrong. A bonus free beer whilst you wait is also a very good gesture that they offer!

Great selection of dishes, reasonably priced and beautiful quality. It was the Sunday buffet. Never been to eat here a la carte but I certainly will after such a delicious meal this lunchtime.

We went to the Snooty Mehman for a family birthday dinner and the whole experience was first class. You can choose between Indian or Thai cuisine, we had a mixture of both in our party and the dishes were equally delicious. They have a number of award winning dishes which is no surprise.The staff are very welcoming and attentive and genuinely appear to enjoy working there. The decor is tasteful and the atmosphere felt very warm and inviting. When we left we said to each other that we felt as if the staff had genuinely wanted us there...a rare feeling in our experience! We will definitely be going again and highly recommend you give it a try.

The food here is fantastic ! The flavours are just amazing and the meat just melts in your mouth . The staff are excellent very friendly and helpful. I can honestly say it's a must 10 out 10 can't fault anything . I will definitely be eating here again .

Went as a party of six for a birthday celebration. The menu is extensive and takes an age to read and decide. The food was served promptly and was of a very high standard. I did find however the Snooty Beef a little on the chewy side.

Went there for first time for Sunday lunch buffet on 21/10/18. Warm friendly welcome by manager Russell and staff, all seem to be knowledgeable of their food and beverages. Taken round to see what was on offer. Plenty of Indian and Thai choices for starters and mains, plus some deserts. Place almost full when we left. We had a really pleasant enjoyable meal and will definately go back.

The menu has old favourites, but some unusual anddelicios items. The Chicken Thigh Tikka starter was one of the best I have tasted. The prawn dishes were generous with very large and tasty prawns. The Imperial Thai starter platter wasalso very good. Service attentive and fast. A great find.

The menu is extensive & all delicious. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm. Good value & yes they do takeaway.

We just called in on a Saturday evening but were acomodated without a problem and the high standard of service continued throughout the meal. The food was really tasty and sampling all the dishes made one realise the sublity of the various spices and methods of cooking. Portions were generous and good value but we managed a dessert to finish a delightful meal - and you must try a mango lahassi (i think that is how you spell it). I could consume a gallon if it!!

We visited for the Sunday Buffet having booked our table for 2.00pm sitting down at about 2.10pm. The food was lovely all very nice with a good selection, Sadly what could and should have been an excellent visit was spoiled when we were almost chased out at 3.00pm,

The food was excellent and the service was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing. I really enjoyed the food. I would recommend this place to anybody. The all you can eat buffet starts at 12pm. You can book a table or you can stop on your way to town and get something to eat. The staff are very efficient and friendly and welcoming. Please take the time to enjoy this wonderful restaurant.

The service and food at Snooty Mehmans is excellent but expect to pay for it! Mains tend to be around £12.50 each plus rice and naan etc.

Staying in faringdon for a course at the defence academy. Found this little gem of a curry house. Not an average place. Ordered a mix grill it was insanely nice. Fantastic service even gave me a free drink. Thanks very much. I will be back again

Visited on a Tuesday night, rather quiet, with only a few tables occupied. Started with popadums and chutneys, very good and plentiful. Lamb shank with subtle Indian spices was very tender, while monkfish with cauliflower, two of my wife's favourite things, was a most unusual curry and greatly enjoyed. A baby aubergine dish and rice pilau completed a great meal. Conventional (i.e. non-Indian) desserts - I had the "chocolate stack" (with two spoons), which was good. Staff very friendly, though the person who took our orders was rather dour! Good value for unusual cuisine.

We visited the Snooty Mehmaan on a Sunday to visit their lunch buffet. The central sort of area of the restaurant is transformed into the buffet area. It is laid out with starters and salads, sides, mains and also a small dessert area.

This is my second visit in just over a year. Sadly my initial judgement was spot on. The decor, extensive menu and high prices lead you to believe that you may be in store for a special treat, sadly that's not the case. The food is very ordinary, in fact quite bland. My main course was over cooked and the chicken quite tough, the special fried rice I chose was hugely over cooked and quite dry, my keema naan bread seemed to have almost zero keema, the desert choice very limited and the lemonade I had must have been the smallest bottle I've ever seen. The pricing is well over the top and all in all once more a huge disappointment and I am unlikely to try again at the SNOOTY Mehmaan.

First class service. Good variety and quality of buffet food. Only comment would be it would have been nice to have a more varied choice of dessert, what we had was good, but could have been better. As with all of these like restaurants drink prices are at the top end, but acceptable. Would certainly visit again.

We stopped off on the way back from Oxford for an early dinner. The place was very quiet when we arrived so no wait. I am sure there would be more atmosphere in there later in the evening when the tables started to fill up. The staff were friendly and checked a couple of times to make sure everything was OK. The food was good and well presented.
