We were a party of 4 ladies visiting for the first time. The food was ok but by 8:45pm the staff were very rude by lingering around and making it obvious they wanted us to leave so they could close early ruining our evening, the website it states they close at 10pm. We won’t be returning !!

The quality of the meat is unreal. Absolutely amazing. They should be charging more! I would be happy to pay more for that quality. Had the mixed grill and the lamb koftes tonight. Wow! Keep on doing what you’re doing. High quality, well priced, satisfying food. The lamb koftas were seasoned just right and the tzatziki was spot on. The steak was melt in the mouth. Well done folks. Really good.

Staff are friendly and the food was lovely my partner had the steak and said it was the best he’s ever had my burger was so nice full of flavour and the cocktail was the best I’ve ever had we wil be coming back can’t believe some one complained saying it’s freezer food as that’s a lie it’s all home cooked and fresh I would recommend to any one

Great food. Its good to find a place that knows how to cook meat correctly. Chicken was perfectly cooked. Not very busy only 6 people in on a Saturday night thats strange as food was great. Good size dishes I had mixed grill and steak was perfect. We will definitely return even tho we live 40mins away it worth the drive. Great work very happy.

It's a bit random as the place is essentially operating out of a Garden Centre cafe, however, the food was really good, the staff super friendly and the service was great. Can't fault it at all.

Strangely located attached to a garden centre, but don't let that put you off. Seating and tables were basic but adequate. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. I had the mixed grill and I have never seen so much meat on a plate, and it was all excellently cooked...my medium steak was actually cooked as medium too. We were a group of 18 people having various dishes, and all had plenty and all enjoyed their meals. I would definitely go again and I would make sure I was just as hungry beforehand as I was on this occasion.

The food, as always was excellent, well cooked and plentiful. It took 45 minutes from ordering to recieving our meal, and believ this may have been due to several groups of people all arriving around 7pm. When the place is busy, it can get very noisy, which on one hand is nice to see people enjoying themselves but difficult to hold down a conversation without shouting. I hasten to point out that the serving staff are very nice, helpful and professional, so my issues are really aimed at the booking system and poor acoustics.

When we read a review on here about the meals costing £20-£30 and not being nice me and my family found this highly amusing not for the Smoky Grill off course but for the poor pathetic person who wrote it my family and I have been coming here once a month for a family meal for a long time and have always found excellent service the meals are lovely and hot and fresh and very tasty.I personally eat out a lot and still rate this restaurant as having high quality meals, excellent service and we have never found anyone who can make a lime and soda like they do we look forward to coming here its has a great atmosphere for being able to talk to your family etc without loads of loud music and so much noise you cant hear yourself think.Last night I had the fish mixed grill its well presented and tastes lovely done just right. I dont think you will be disappointed when you come and eat here we will certainly be carrying on coming here.

We started our holiday here after driving from SW London nonstop we needed a break. Left our cottage early and had breakfast here before our drive home. Great service and so friendly.

We managed to get a very early last minute booking while visiting the garden centre on Saturday. I had read good reviews about Smokey’s the previous year but too late to visit. I was glad to hear it was still here so accepted the only time slot left. We opted for a main course and dessert but the starters looked good. I had the “Smokey Grill” consisting of rumps teak, ribs and peri peri chicken. All cooked spot on, the rump was the best I’ve had in a long time, chicken moist and tasty, ribs fell off the bone. This chef knows how to grill meat’s. Couldn’t eat all the chips though, I’m getting old! The desserts were okay and maybe I’d have a starter next time but a good selection. Service was good and the atmosphere was sort of lacking as we were the only ones there at that time, as we were squeezed in first, but can’t knock owt off as the meats were top notch!! Can’t wait until next year!!!

What a wonderfully bizarre concept the Smokey Grill House is, only open for three days a week serving locally sourced dishes beautifully grilled. During the day it operates as a tea room for the garden centre but for the three evenings it is open serves typical steak and chips type fare. If you want a steak in North Walsham go here. The decor isn’t up to much but that isn’t a problem. The desserts are great and there is even a limited cocktail menu. It’s a quirky place for a meal which doesn’t break the bank. My only criticism is the chips weren’t great.

Went last week as part of the group that booked the whole restaurant. Even with the number of people all orders came out correct and together. Comments round my table of 6 where all positive, I enjoyed my mixed grill with Jacket, all cooked perfectly. Staff where friendly an polite. Would recommend booking as often full. During the day this is the Garden Centre cafe and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings is taken over by the brill Smokey team.

We visited on sat evening , it was quite busy, but we had booked a table so no problem. Both my friend and I chose the salmon , itcame outon a fish shaped plater cooked beautifully and served with oven roasted potato slices and separate side salad, we ordered the cheesecake and the sizzling brownie for dessert, both were lovely, we shared so we could try both. The venueischilledand laid back , the staff are friendly and welcoming and the prices exceptional we got2 main 2 desserts and 4 drinks 3 alcoholic and 1 soft and total bill was 48.00 !!!! amazing value . Well done to management and all the hardworking staff keep doing what your doing great job .

Closed dispute Google saying it was open. No answer when rung (several times). No sign on door. Not sure what's gone on... So didn't actually experience it to review (when open)....

I gone a lot of times and love going here. you will always be leave happy and fill by there wide range of tasty food and the waiting doesn't not feel long by time it can take about half a hour or 45mins. If u want good food and a welcoming place to go on a date or with friends.

The place has a friendly atmosphere but its food is only average which is a shame as the place has a great potential to be something great.

This is THE hidden gem of North Walsham (if not Norfolk!!). Booking is recommended well in advance as they fill up quickly. It is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The service is excellent. The food is plentiful, well cooked and very reasonably priced. Give it a go if you can!!

I went here for a burger and chips following a late work appointment not expecting anything special, but on arrival the smell hit me and my mouth was watering. After a very reasonable time my burger arrived with a side order of onion rings. The salad was fresh and crisp and the meat content of the burger was exceptional, there was no way this was purchased from a wholesale company (got to be home made) they are juicy and full of flavour, by far the best i have had for many years. I can't wait for another late appointment in North Walsham so i can return for another or try some of the other options from the menu.

Came with a group of friends. Food good but service rude. We finished our puddings at about 21.30, we were chatting and finishing drinks waitress informed us they shut at ten. Within ten mins of this they had turned the kitchen lights off and all three staff were standing watching us in the staff section as I glanced over I heard a sigh. Baring in mind we had all spent about £170 it isn’t good enough. We tipped and wish we hadn’t. It was just so rude we felt so uncomfortable we took our drinks outside which they were not happy with, our reply was the wine we bought and we are not leaving nearly full bottles. Food was pleasant enough and company excellent customer service awful. Each visit over the years I’ve had has declined rapidly I don’t leave negative reviews as a whole I try to be a fair reviewer but I can’t dress this up.

We've been eating here for many years and have always found every aspect of our visits excellent. Even on the one occasion when something went wrong it was dealt with professionally - but not this time. My husband ordered mixed grill and everything was fine with that. I ordered the sirloin without the chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions rings but with a salad and jacket potato.. When it came it looked a bit sparse and I thought they won't charge full price for this and had everything been ok I wouldn't have minded. I took a bite of the steak and it was delicious but then I noticed there was an inch thick layer of fat around the top and sides . I cut that off and took another bite and it was mostly gristle. I left that and took another bite which was the same which I left too. I thought to myself, if I'm going to say something I'd better do it now as by this time there was only a few bites left. I called the waitress and explained the problem and she took it away - no “I'm sorry”,  no “can I get you something else”. Nothing!!!! So I finished off my husband's chips and we asked for the bill. I couldn't believe my eyes when they'd charged full price for my meal. I refused to pay. I was told by a waiter that I had to pay as I'd eaten half of it but he could offer 10% off. I didn't find that acceptable but he kept arguing with me, the waitress then joined in so feeling embarrassed we paid by card and were given a receipt. Then the chef arrived. I thought he'd he'd come to apologise or at least to see what the problem was- how wrong I was. He said something along the lines - “I only buy the best meat and how do you think your complaint makes me feel?” He went on and on and was extremely aggressive. I tried to calm the situation as it was now three people (the chef, the waiter and the waitress) having a go at me. His bullying tactics were relentless and he would not stop to let me have my say. I was getting upset by this time and decided just to quietly leave. We got outside and the chef shouts “ I'M CALLING THE POLICE” We went back inside to ask why. When we produced the receipt the waiter informed us that he had annulled the transaction. In hindsight we realise we should have checked the receipt but we just wanted to get out of there. We paid and left AND we didn't get the 10% discount. To top it all on our way out the waitress chuntles “and £15.99 is cheap for a steak” Unless you don't mind being bullied, embarrassed and humiliated I would advise you do not complain in this establishment. It is more than a shame as you can see from my previous reviews that we've had some wonderful meals there.

Had a wonderful evening celebrating my birthday with my friends. The food was faultless, absolutely incredible and very very good value for money! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be going back.

I found the Smokey Grill House, when looking for a restaurant to have a meal with a group of friends as we were attending a Ceroc dance night in the town. Don't know NW very well, but because the reviews were so good, decided to book. It was also my birthday, so wanted somewhere nice. We had some changes to our party, but they were happy to help at every step.

A little bit of an odd venue, more cafe than restaurant, but look past that and it is very good. Good portion size and all served piping hot. Been in the area nearly two weeks, best meal we have had thus far.

We regularly visit this excellent restaurant in North Walsham garden centre at lunchtimes so this was our first evening meal there. The meal was well cooked and extremely tasty, I would go as far as saying my mixed grill was the best since I visited Whites of Norwich in the 1970's.The price was reasonable and Mark the waiter who had already completed a 12 hour shift was as sharp and witty as ever. He obviously know most of the regulars and his clever humour goes down really well. A really enjoyable meal in comfortable surroundings. Nice to be able to park right outside.

Myself and some friends are staying close by and happened stumble across this restaurant whilst searching places to go. I can honestly say we were so impressed with the food we all had and the service received. The place is quite small and when you arrive seems to be in a strange location but it works! The cocktails went down a treat and the menu has loads to choose from, really cannot fault it, a great find should we come to stay again!

Never knew this place existed. Was treated to birthday meal and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I have sampled similar menus in the area and Norwich and this was the best meal by far. I had the country grill all the meat was tasty, tender and cooked perfectly. I'm not a lover of the latest slate instead of plate idea but it was presented well and served hot. I will not bother traveling into the city to eat from now on this is the best restaurant in a few miles.

I’m very sorry to say that after hearing good things and also reading good reviews about the Smokey Grill House, I can’t say the same. Sure the place is nice, a bit small but what’s that got to do with it?? The food in my opinion was only mediocre, this was also the opinion of my wife and other family members dining with us. The food was hot and very well presented. The staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs but there was just something lacking. Will I go back? Yes, probably will as maybe last night was just a one off and as said after all we had heard up until last night, something was definitely amiss. Shame!

Quaint restaurant in the garden centre restaurant,Thursday,Friday and Saturday evenings only. Atmosphere relaxed. Waiter was excellent. Be prepared food is just amazing. I had the jersey chicken and desert was baked cheesecake. Flavours and textures were beautiful. Cooked to perfection. Son had New York chicken and daughter in law had the ribs, again beautifully cooked. 3 mains,3deserts, kids meal, 4 cocktails, altogether £70. If you get the chance you must go!!

La crítica anterior no estaba seguro de qué esperar, y fue de hecho un Restaurante basado en un jardín. Sin embargo, la comida era increíble y a un precio muy razonable. Muy buena calidad de carne, sirve exactamente como lo habíamos solicitado. Después de comer, sin quejas, la camarera se acercó y noté las patatas chaqueta (que eran sólo la izquierda debido a que dos de nosotros estar demasiado lleno) eran un poco exageradas, así que nos ofreció una ronda de bebidas gratis. Un gran servicio al cliente.

La comida era estupenda, a un precio razonable, y salieron en buen tiempo. El ambiente no estaba mal, aunque me sentía como que estábamos sentados en un café jardín un poco (que prácticamente son). El horario es un poco extraña - sólo 3 días a la semana. El personal era amable y acogedor.

This place should be in the town and open every night. Amazing grill house style food. The only thing stopping this place getting 5 stars is the location the garden centre café sucks the atmosphere out of a other wise great night.

Usamos ahora sobre una base regular, comida exquisitamente cocinada cada vez personal es genial para nosotros nada es demasiado problema, se llena rápidamente, así que te aconsejo que reserves.

North Walsham estado viviendo en más de 3 años y solo encontrado esta joya de lugar. . Amable y cálido ambiente. La comida es una fantástica relación calidad-precio, si tuviera una pequeña queja, para elevar los platos me sirven con patatas fritas caseras no congeladas. Cóctel de gambas era mi plato sinceramente es uno de los mejores terminé, servido con ensalada muy fresca y pan integral. Yo tenía un país Mixed Grill, marido tenía una parrilla simple mixta, todas las carnes estaban bien preparado y había un montón de cosas, no hay espacio a la izquierda para el postre. Sin duda volveremos.

Recomiendo encarecidamente el Smokey Grill House! El personal era fantástico y atento, la comida fabulosa y todo por un precio muy bueno! Recomiendo el alitas de pollo barbacoa con salsa barbacoa casera y la parrilla país necesitado en el norte - Walsham!

Visited The Smokey Grill House with friends Friday 17th March 2017. It was their first visit there. The selection and quality of the dishes remains very good and reasonably priced. A very pleasant meal enjoyed by all.

Ok what to expect you turn left off the norwich road ,as coming from northwalsham,you drive down the lane and bare right ,where you enter a huge car park.yes and it's free.The Smokey Grill House is only run on a Thursday,Friday& Saturday evening,well what a treat a choice of steaks burgers mixed grills fish and chicken We have eaten here on many occasions the sirloin & rib eye and new Jersey chicken are very tasty you have a choice of potatoes chips,grilled potatoes or jkt potatoes we have stuck we chips The service is top notch we have been greeted and directed to our table where we have been served drinks before our meal , ok it's not draught beer or lager it's all done mainly by bottles , it's wet and chilled it goes down a treat very cheap too the desserts are reasonable priced too try the sizzler it's different many thanks we will be returning again soon

We have eaten here on many occasions and have never been able to fault it but this time it was a very different experience. No complaints about the food, it was as good as it always has been but the service was very poor. The waitress gave the impression that she wished it was home time but worse of all was the lack of service. I ordered a wine while we were choosing our meal and wanted another one when I started my main course but there was nobody around to ask. We waited and waited and still no one around. Eventually the waitress who had taken our order surfaced and I thought she was going to ask if we wanted a desert, but I was wrong, she passed our table and was out of the door like a shot. Someone did eventually come to our table so we just got the bill and left. In the past the service and the writers/waitresses have been efficient and really friendly. I will go again in the hope that things will be better.

After hearing so many good reviews about this place, we decided to give it a go ourselves.We rang up to book a table and they didn't even take our name.Upon entering the restaurant, the waiter simply pointed to a table and gestured to sit down without even saying as little as a greeting.The food was certainly overpriced for what it was.The decor was reminiscent of an elderly woman's living room.If you enjoy the scent of body odour whilst trying to enjoy your meal, then this is the place for you.

Well I've eaten at the smokey grill house on a couple of occasions and think value for money is amazing! The quality of the food is very good surprisingly so for the price you pay portion size is catered for you having 3 courses (i.e. The portions are not big by any means) but if it's a causal eatery that you want with family or friends I'd recommend it personally very relaxed and easy going atmosphere.

We were staying in the North Walsham area over the new year and saw this on Trip Advisor.We ordered mixed grills, burgers, steak and kebabs and all the food was excellent.My husband says it's the best steak he has ever had!We were initially a bit thrown by the fact it looked like it was in the garden centre itself but don't let this put you off.We wanted to go back but we ran out of time.

My partner and I were visiting North Walsham from the West Midlands, we looked on the internet for local eateries in N.Walsham and came across the Smokey Grill House. I booked a table from home on the 6th October for Thursday 13th October. When we arrived we were welcomed by our waiter for the evening (Sorry! Didn't catch your name) I ordered rib-eye steak medium rare and my better half had the ribs, we both agreed the food was cooked superbly. My partner said the ribs were simply the best she'd ever tasted and my steak was cooked to perfection. We just about found room for a pudding each, though we struggled a bit! If you're in Norfolk in the North Walsham area on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening then give the Smokey Grill House a try - you won't be disappointed. Thoroughly recommended!

We where a group of 14 and even though we where 30 minutes late (had let them know) and even though we made them late they did not rush us. The bill was a nice surprise as well

Had many a lovely meal here, everything is off the menu has always been spot on... I have had steak, chicken and burgers but the last time I went I tried the plaice, which was a mighty fine helping and cooked to perfection.. Nice atmosphere and staff, and very reasonable.. Couldn't recommend it enough, and the best thing is you can be as healthy as u like, I always have the jacket pot as my choice of potatoes as its a proper jacket baked in the oven with crispy skin, which is the only way to have it...

Very big portions of food for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is lovely and peaceful. Fully enjoy my night as the service was brilliant. Especially a young female waitress who you could clearly see works her socks off. The food was excellent as per usual as been plenty of times. I would highly recommend the smokey grill to everyone. You won't be disappoint at all as the food and service is always spot on, even when it's busy.

A friendly family environment, nice warm reception and a steak just the way you like it. It's a shame it's only open a few evenings a week. But it is brilliant. Food is fantastic and decently priced.
