What an amazing meal! Mixed starter, chicken red Thai curry. Garlic prawns and big noodles, wine, beer and whisky coffees. All brilliantly presented and served with a smile. Thank you 🤩 We loved it all x

After reading some negative reviews we were a bit sceptical but decided to give it a go, so glad we did as the food was amazing and served quickly the service was great, staff were friendly.

Amazing food but laughable service! Shown to our table but after 10 mins we had to ask for the menu. Starters came out, no plates, no cutlery. Asked for cutlery, we were brought plates so went to get our cutlery. We asked for our drinks twice after ordering- they finally came out with our main meal (very watered down apple and pineapple juice for the kids so they weren’t impressed!) Curries came out but no rice, so had to ask after a while and then waited so long that we had almost finished our curries. My daughter wanted a 2nd starter as her main as there were no ribs for mains, but after the 3rd time of trying to explain this she gave up and ate the ribs on her own while we waited, and then eventually her rice on its own when it finally arrived! Don’t get me wrong, delicious food and lovely people but I felt they were all in training.

Friendly welcome and then downhill from there on. We waited about 90 minutes for our main meal…I think we would still be there if we hadn’t kept asking where our food was. The food was OK, nothing more…certainly not up to the standard of many Thai restaurants I’ve eaten in. They said they had a large party in that was causing the issue, but it looked about 12 people maximum and the restaurant was only 1/2 full. Oh dear!

Great food, excellent service, fantastic selection, good portion sizes and not over priced. Good authentic Thai food. They also cater for all dietary requirements and the menu is very clear on what is suitable for specific needs. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal

The food was amazing the starters and the main were very nice the staff were so kind and nice and everything look clean and tidy and the bathroom was clean. I would go there again

The service was excellent, the food was delicious, I had the chicken satay and my husband had the ribs, I had the Thai green chicken curry my husband had a beef dish, we shared sticky rice, Pad Thai and a side of spring greens with chilli. Unfortunately they let themselves down by bringing the bill without it being asked for! We had planned to have dessert but they seemed to want us out, despite spending a lot of money. Also there was no light in the ladies toilet, which are now in desperate need of a refurb, as they are looking not at all nice. We will be back for the food, and hopefully the next time they won’t be in a rush to get us to leave. On a positive note, allergies are well catered for.

Absolutely shambolic evening. Didn't seem like the staff knew what they were doing. Took us 45mins to get our starters then another 40mins for our main courses. Food wasn't great when it arrived either. Pork toast was greasy, sauces on our main courses weren't very nice and greasy too. We were there for 1hr 45mins in total and they would only give us £5 off the bill. Not happy

Nice restaurant, great service, particularly from the young girl, who was super lovely (albeit a tad young for evening service). Being picky, my duck was extremely fatty, but the rest of the party had a great meal.

Met up with friends for an early evening meal and catch up. Food was exceptional and service excellent. I have eaten here many times and am never disappointed. We were not rushed so were able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. A must, for locals and tourists alike .

Ordered 2 dishes with 3 chilli’s and we had to send it back as no heat or flavour. They cooked a fresh lot with lots of heat and apart from that no flavour. Dissapointed. Staff lovely but stay away if you love thai food

Fed up with pub grub on our recent visit to Sheringham we booked a table at the Chai Yo and weren’t disappointed. Excellent in all ways- service, menu and quality of food. Wonderful Thai food.

Restaurant Right in the middle of the high street Group of 3 of us ate Saturday lunchtime, friendly& accommodating service, great tasting food, so we decided to detour to eat in again on our way back home m only disappointment is they slough it’s only a low step in & then the restaurant is on one level , it was difficult getting the wheelchair in even without me in it and they have no accessible toilet ( in fact their toilets are all up a couple of flights of stairs ( there is a hand railon both sides to assist! Delicious food at a reasonable price , if I lived local It would be a regular 😊

The starters were really nice. I had the duck pancakes. The sweet and sour chicken was way to sweet and a bit sickly.

Both food and service were perfect. We had ribs,dumplings and tempura prawns to start and beef penang and chilli seafood for mains. Service was perfect and all reasonably priced. Keep it up.

This is a very good Thai restaurant right in the centre of Sheringham! We ordered take outs on two occasions & were delighted with our food both times. The dishes were freshly prepared & beautifully cooked…they had the perfect level of heat/spices & the vegetables retained that lovely crunch. We called to collect both orders & the staff were so polite, friendly & super efficient. The restaurant looked cosy, comfortable & was busy when we were waiting to collect our orders. All prices are very reasonable & take out order time very fast.

My wife and I visited Chai Yo for the first time on a Tuesday evening in late October. The a la carte menu is extensive and we opted for a couple of starters (duck in crisp pancakes and butterfly prawns), a couple of main courses (Garlic chicken and Sweet & Sour KIng Prawns) plus rice and noodles. All of the food was very enjoyable with good portion sizes. The drinks list is limited and it seemed that there was no option to buy bottles of wine, only 175ml or 250ml glasses. The dry rose and Pinot Grigio were very palatable.

I stopped by this evening, as it looked a nice Thai restaurant on the outside and the menu sounded good and was reasonably priced. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and that really does make a huge difference when you go out for a meal. It was lovely. I chose a chicken parcel starter with sweet chilling sauce and it was lovely. Then I had a Pad Thai with prawns. That was really tasty and light. I wasn't rushed to finish and I enjoyed a relaxing evening and a tasty meal. I always judge Thai restaurants on their Pad Thai and I'll definitely be going back there and trying something else, next time I'm in Sheringham.

Fantastic Thai food would definitely recommend to go here for a meal

We’ve passed this Thai many times and always wanted to give it a try. We visited on a busy Wednesday evening when they were serving their buffet, but we chose A la cart. The menu is extensive, the food nicely cooked and the 4 dishes we had tasted nice, with no over-powering flavours. Portions are very small (epitomised by the tiny, useless napkins), especially the rice, which makes the meal expensive. The all-you-can-eat buffet represents better value at £20 pp.

We were in Sheringham visiting for the day and were after something a little different for lunch. We took in the lunchtime special, which was excellent value. The food was great, and the experience really enjoyable.

This was our second time in the restaurant, the food was once again very good, but the service times were shocking. We waited 1hr 40mins before our mains arrived, one of our party of 8 left with her son before the food arrived because he couldn’t wait any longer. We just kept being told “it’s coming now” when it clearly wasn’t. Also, others who arrived after us somehow got served before us. Such a shame as we regularly go to Sheringham and love Thai food, but it really spoiled everyone’s evening. At least one other table near us waited even longer than we did.

We looked at previous reviews and had a gamble, we thought it was quite expensive, the food itself tasted more like Chinese than proper Thai food, staff were all lovely but we wouldn't eat here again starters were good, main was nice but as stated it was like having a Chinese and not authentic Thai.

Lovely romantic settings, great food (panang and garlic chilli were delicious) and excellent service. On top of it all, very reasonable pricing. Things to improve potentially: use food warmers for the hot dishes

We have been with family to celebrate a birthday in the restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful. Although the restaurant was busy we were served promptly and efficiently.

We visited on Thursday evening. We had a warm welcome and soon settled into choosing our food with a bottle of wine. The starters and main meals were served promptly and were hot and very tasty. The staff are very courteous and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and great food. No faults at all.

The food is superb! Try the duck starters and the, i know i have spelt this wrong, Tamadrin duck and Honey pork. Beautiful. Definitely going back.

Terrible service. Like really bad. the place was also dirty but we were starving and far way from out place of stay. The food was incorrect and cold and took an hour to arrive. and they did not even compensate us for who they treated us and the constant issues related to our dine in experience.

Popular restaurant that caters well for large family groups / parties. Deceptively large with as much space upstairs as down. Mainly Thai cuisine with a few Malaysian and other dishes, excellent quality food and great service. Booking likely necessary in tourist season and especially for larger groups but we managed to get in with only a day’s notice when most places we tried were fully booked. We paid £200 for 3 courses for 6 people with drinks, could have saved a bit by sharing rice between 2 as quite a bit left due to large portion.

On holiday and fancied a Thai meal and must say I was not disappointed at this place , the food was absolutely superb and tasty , great service and atmosphere I would suggest to anyone .

Visited here with my parents yesterday and was a little disappointed...The menu that was outside was not offered inside - we were given a Lunch Express Menu whereas a full menu was not offered at all. The Lunch Express menu had some of the more popular options, which was nice but my wife was excited to have something that was not on the menu. The food was served quickly and the staff were friendly, but the food was only slightly above average - some good flavours in there but they could have added more vegetables and meat to pad out the noodles etc. I would go again, but more accuracy on the menu would have been appreciated.

Incredibly slow service, 30 minutes to get our starter which is okay, but over an hour for our main course wasn’t okay. The waiter completely messed up the drinks order, I never actually what I wanted! There was apparently only one chef on and it was raining so there were several walk ins. We had booked, but the walk ins were getting served food before us, as were the customers who were loudly complaining. It was meant to be our highlight meal, as it is one of our favourite restaurants, sadly, after tonight we won’t be going back. The food was nice enough, but not up to their usual standard.

Been to this restaurant regularly over the years and always look forward to our next visit. That was until tonight. Arrived at 7 15 and ordered drinks that came but not really what we had ordered but the waiter did not seem to understand what we wanted. A wine and soda , a lager shandy and Diet Coke which never did come. Waiter took our order but could only do it by numbers on the menu. After Approx 30 minutes our starter came. Food was lovely. After another hours wait and several excuses that there was only one chef and it was raining ! we got our main course. The thing that really finished us off was that people who came after us and complained got their main course before us ! The main course when it did arrive after an hour wait was good but by this time we were so hungry that we did not enjoy the meal. If they only had one chef on and were clearly struggling to serve people why did they still let walk ins come in ? Our whole evening was spoilt by terrible service. Sorry to say however good the food is we will not return after this.

Very slow service, food is nice but an incredibly long wait from starter to main. Apparently there is only 1 her and because it was raining, people were coming in. They did not take into account that we had booked and were there long before...

Great Thai food. Having had mixed experiences in the UK I was really happy with this. I’ve been to various bits of Thailand over the years. So I’m a bit fussy. So is my other half. Both very happy!

1 Star only based on times displayed on website, not on food. Website says they are open from 12noon until 3pm (Wed - Sun) yet we visited today to find different times displayed on their door. Certainly not open Wednesday lunch time🙁

Went for a buffet with gf for a date night was perfect lovely food I tried everything and reasonably priced drinks. Really enjoyed the experience and was lovely atmosphere and beautiful table setting. Will deffo be coming again and will recommend to all friends and...

Food very average, service appalling.

The place looks nice, the staff is very friendly, but the food was disappointing, unfortunately. There were so many shortcuts in the dishes than it was hard to recognise them. We ordered beef jungle curry, but it didn’t have all the ingredients it usually should.

A beautiful restaurant with very friendly and welcoming staff. The starters we had were very nice (sweetcorn cakes and calamari). We were disappointed with the main noodle dishes, particularly the pad Thai, which was very heavily soaked in sweet and sour sauce. Dishes on other tables looked much better (curries etc), so we probably just didn’t make the right menu choice. Overall, would recommend but not for noodle dishes.

We went here for a dinner recently and it was a nice meal out. Three of us had some Deepfried Calamari, Sweetcorn cake, Pad Thai, seafood noodles, some speacial fried rice and egg fried rice. All the dishes were tasty. The Pad Thai was very sweet and not spicey at all, which was a bit disappointing. We found the spicey levels were generally low, even the 3 chilli rated Seafood noodles. However, it wasn't a massive problem. The interior decor was very nice. The staff were very friendly and respectful. We wouldn't mind visiting here again. Thank you 😊

We dined here before the thursford evening show. It was superb. We had duck, chicken noodles and giant prawn salad. All delicious and full of Asian flavour. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Called their on Saturday 20th Nov booked for 6.30pm we eventually got offered a drink around about 30mins later , took food order 7.10 starter came 7.40 main meal 8.15 too long to wait didn’t bother to wait for dessert ,also asked two different members of staff for some tap water , none appeared very busy and no staff disappointing

Avoid - when you walk in it smells great but it’s the rest of the meal let’s it down. Sharing Starter platter was bland and small portion for the price, served in chipped dishes which is poor practice, the main was soggy and inedible and obviously sent it back and was replaced with an okay portion though They use cheap Thai sweet chilli sauce with the starter and main The whole experience would have been better from a Tesco Box meal I would not return to this place again
