We had a lovely meal last night - great choices, well presented and good value for money. Food was clearly cooked to order, was hot and fresh. A limited but different choice of desserts. Good range of wines at a reasonable price per bottle. There were only a small number of diners but I would expect to see more if people make the effort to share the plus points of the place

Staff nice, fresh veg however the food was not great at all. Toilets dirty with cobwebs everywhere, toilet seat not attached on one side so banged into wall. After we ordered they told people no more food but if locals arrived then food available! Such a shame as used to be a nice pub with good food.

Smiths use to be a great family friendly pub. Now the food is average, the drink choices are poor. The place stinks. It’s never cleaned. The toilets always smell like style urine. The bar when I was it last time stunk like vomit and sweat, everything is either sticky or dusty. Staff are alright. The smoking area smells like a dirty ash tray (never use to) and is just a storage space for broken old furniture. Never cleaned. The clientele use to be nice people from the village. I don’t know why they’ve found all these new people who go but they aren’tthe best of standards. Just a shame what was a decent country pub is becoming on par with some of the rough ones you’d find in Kirkham.

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunchtime. Spoilt for choice, great menu plenty of choose from and very reasonably priced. So the choices were made, the wife had Scampi, homemade chips, mushy peas and loved the Balsamic Vinegar drizzled over the mixed leaf side salad. I had the classic burger with bacon, cheese, an onion ring and fries. Plenty on both plates and I'm going to be really honest here and say that this was the tastiest burger I have had in a very long time absolutely delicious. When checking out meals from the others who were in eating all the meals looked excellent. We will definitely be back, but don't take our word for it, try it!

Very enjoyable lunch here today...The pub is undergoing a change in owners...so not yet up to full menu. But what there is was very nice. I had fish and chips, a vietnamese variety which was really very nice in a lovely light crisp batter. The missus had chicken curry, not too hot, just nice, served half and half. All freshly prepared. Beer was spot on, service excellent, surroundings warm, clean and welcoming. Good luck for the future..

Went to The Smiths on 8/1/24 for my husbands wake. The pub was warm and welcoming. The food for the buffet that I had ordered was brilliant. They provided a cold buffet with sandwiches, meats, salad, sausage rolls, quiche, rice, pasta etc etc. plus two huge hotpots (one gluten free) with red cabbage plus tea and coffee and cakes. There was loads of food. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were great. It made for a lovely send off on a very sad day.

Came here for a Sunday Roast after a very cold walk with the dog at Hoghton Tower on the way back home to Blackpool. I have been here 3-4 times in the past. The Sunday lunch and everything i can see on the menu is very good value. A good solid meal. I also got the Salt and Pepper fries which were very nice and well seasoned. The pub has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and is very dog friendly. We warmed ourselves by the fire which was very much needed too. I have no problem recommending this place and coming back again. Pickle the Chihuahua liked it too! :)

Called in, by chance, on a dog walk from Brylea caravan park. So glad we did. Very friendly owners, not only to us, but with Ted, our dog. The food was wonderful. I had the curry (chicken tikka) and my wife had the steak pie. Both meals were piping hot, full of meat and very tasty. The apple crumble with custard went down very well as well. Three pints later we continued with our walk. A very pleasant afternoon. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

I turned up with my partner today at 7.40pm. The board outside clearly stated food was served until 8pm. We asked for a table for 2, only to be told by a very dismissive lady that they had stopped serving. No apology and worst of all no interest whatsoever. I cannot believe in these times people have an attitude like this. Being in the hospitality industry myself we bend over backwards to get people through the door and keep them. Seems like you’re quite happy with a few locals scattered here and there drinking. We’ll you reap what you sew!!

We met up with another couple for lunch at The Smith's Arms and had an amazing surprise. This was no ordinary pub lunch, the food was outstanding, much to our surprise!! The boys both had sirloin steak, they're excellent cooks themselves, they both thought it was the best steak they'd had which they hadn't cooked themselves. I had the red chicken curry, which was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of chicken, the other meal with the special, seabass and salmon fishcake, which looked and tasted absolutely wonderful. Chips were ordered to go with them but they weren't needed, the salad which came with it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely return. However, on a note of caution, this is definitely not a 'posh pub' it would benefit from a refurb, the staff were also really good and the service was excellent. We will return - just for the great food!!

Called up and asked if the match was playing, they said yes in which we were extremely happy at.. so we decided to book a table of 10 in front of the television as promised. Got to the venue to find there was no football on and they couldn’t get it up on the TV. Anyway, the ladies weren’t that fussed. Orders where taken etc, starters came out and we all had cutlery just thrown down in the middle of the table (10 people how inconvenient) asked for napkins.. shock, there was none in the whole building, luckily my friend had baby wipes on her for everyone. Had to get up 3 times during my starter just to take condiments off the side because the waitress with the half sleeve tattoo didn’t seem to care. Mains came, my friend specifically told the waitress that she had a pea and nut allergy only to find that 3 of the dishes served to our table had one singular pea on... was this done on purpose? No apology until right at the end. Waitress had an awful attitude. Anyway if you’re going for a Sunday roast have a look at this picture, Yorkshire puddings like door wedges and black potato was not my idea of a nice Sunday meal. Anyway, went to the Broughton inn after and got a fresh roast!

Visited recently , four adults and one child , ordered what we hoped to be a quick bite -- three sandwiches and three plates of chips between us.50 minutes later we rec'd 3 sandwich and 2 chips ( close to burned ) , had to wait another ten minutes for the 3rd plate of chips and they were then very undercooked verging on rock.hard.. clearly rushed. There was only one member of staff on who was working both the bar and waitressing from the kitchen serving food to both the bar area and lower restaurant area. This is clearly inadequate staffing levels , to wait nearly an hour for a butty is simply not acceptable.

I had lunch here with my family and my baby. The food was good. However one of us had the cheese pie which was nice but the whole meal looked so dry and needed some sort of sauce to accompany it. I unfortunately had to use the baby change facilities, if you can call them that. After asking a member of staff where they were I was amazed to find there baby changing facilities are actually two bar stools shoved together with a changing mat balanced on top of them in the corner of the disabled toilet. So dangerous. I am amazed they haven't been made to do something about this by environmental health. There is no way you could change a baby on it they would be better not providing anything. I had to close the lid of the toilet, sit on that and change baby on my knee. Lucky I had my mum on hand to help but it was still a struggle. Very very stupid of this pub not to provide a changing table. We would have gone back but there's no way we can now until the baby is out of nappies. Is the money saved really worth the lawsuit when a baby inevitably falls and is seriously injured? Also there is a table right next to the door of the disabled toilet so you can't open it fully. Silly and dangerous oversight.

A gourmet guide to Lancs would definitely include the Smith's Arms. Great range of beers and really good home-cooked food. Excellent pies (this is Lancs!), fish, and some slightly more Mediterranean dishes at extremely reasonable prices - they could charge double. HIghly recommended for lunch or supper

This is a fantastic rural pub. The landlord and staff cannot do enough to make sure you enjoy your experience there. They have a good selection of drinks and to top it off they serve excellent food, which is delicious. My wife and I love calling here for a few drinks and something to eat as it has a wonderful atmosphere

Went for our tea last night, have visited a few times over past couple of years but it has always been very quiet, not last night, was packed which was great to see. We had the Friday night fish deal and it was lovely, the staff are great, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back. Thank you. Ps only down side for us was frozen chips, much prefer home made.

Not been here for a while due to change over of management and it went downhill.... I can say now it is back on track .. I had cheese and onion pie mash and beans... Was yummy... Hubby had sausage and mash.. He said sausage was OK but not the best he has had.. Was very quiet in there only another three people in there.... Would go back though as it was a friendly atmosphere....

I went to the Smiths arms yesterday for a quiet drink and lunch, I found the place to be very casual and relaxing and after ordering I sat out side on a very colourful and blooming patio in the sun shine. The bar has a good selection of drinks and the menu"s are adequate one being a special deal menu, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the service and waiting time is very good. I will be returning over the bank holiday weekend with my wife and daughters and I would thoroughly recommend the Smiths arms to any one should it be for a meal or just a quiet drink

Myself and two other friends visited on a midweek lunchtime and at first we were the only ones in. A little later there was another couple eating but that was it. The meal we had (burgers and chips) were absolutely fine with no complaints and the service was excellent too. I just find it a shame that such lovely rural pubs struggle to attract midweek custom during the day as our visit was very pleasant. I really don't know what the answer is but I would certainly encourage others to go as there was absolutely nothing wrong with our visit. Naturally I can't comment on the evening trade - I hope it is thriving. In summary - give it a go - you will enjoy it !!!

Visited for tea on Sunday night, service was quick but no check back on food or asked for another round of drinks, food was average at best. Could be alot better with a bit of motivation from the staff who should enjoy their job, McDonald's rubbish left on the table where we sat at.
