Awful why did they change the menu. We use to come once a week we doubt we will be buy food again the bao buns are fried, the chicken skewers are just chicken not even salt and pepper. The share plates suggest for 3 people but you only get 2 portions for 19.95 you use to get a sharers platter which was excellent but now there is no equivalent so disappointed

A terrible wet day (31st December) and whilst shopping decided to pop into Slug and Lettuce for lunch, have often visited and always been good, but today it was quite poor, not busy so no excuse, the wine glasses were not clean, they had been left to dry and consequently water marks all over them, we ordered Fish & Chips, just for a change, and to say it was good is an understatement, they had no mushy peas so ordinary peas, the chips were fine and the meal was hot, but the fish !! it was either overcooked - doubtful - or had been reheated to reserve again, to say it was crisp is an understatement, had to use fingers to break it to eat it, very very poor, I do like this place for a meal and it is usually very good, but today, a definite no, and it was not because it was crowded, it was just about usual, pull up your socks Slug another meal like that and I won't return.

This is the second time we have left this "pub" as they have run out of wine. First time they ran out of rose in the summer. Apparently a lot of people ordered wine? What a shock. This time not even two glasses of red wine on the premises. Once again naughty people drinking wine in a pub! How shocking. And nothing they can do. Really? This was Tuesday and thankfully they will get a delivery on Thursday. Phew. Not long to wait! Couldn't drink beer as cooler broke. Just gets better. The manager Jack wasn't around. I wouldn't show my face either. Probably at home drinking cold beer or in a pub that sells drinks. 😭😭

Terrible bar service with untrained bar staff who have no idea! No atmosphere was very quiet and no excuse for such a long wait time to be served. Food was ok but had to keep asking for a waiter to clear table and no drinks service! Manger/bar staff was rude and shouting across to other customers too. Awful behaviour had to leave before even ordering mains. Miserable staff ruined our night out!

Food was really bad, garlic bread inedible and hard, chicken looked uncooked and was bland in the burgers and in other dishes, the platters were awful with hard inedible food although the chips were okay! Also, the female staff were not friendly or helpful! My son wanted sweet potato fries, we ordered online and paid for it and then were told it had run out! That’s fine but when we asked for a refund the female member of staff said it was part of the meal, but we checked the bill online and we had been charged. She couldn’t be bothered with the refund but another member of staff finally replaced the dish with something of the same value. All in all we spent £60 for nothing! The only saviour was my Diet Coke but you can’t really get that wrong as it’s out of a bottle! I wouldn’t recommend anyone going there at all!

Me and my family had an amazing time on a Friday evening. We all have starters and mains, calamari sticks and breaded mushrooms absolutely delicious,the steak was really tasty,veggie thai curry with basmati rice highly recommended for the veg lovers.We have some cheeky cocktails, Pornstars Martini ,Berry Nice Fizz and Espresso Martini. Really nice and good, the staff very attentive and the Lady GM a very friendly person with good sense of humor.Definitely we will be back soon .

Waited over half an hour for our cocktails. Delicious when they finally arrived. We were told food orders had a 1-2 hour wait. We left after cocktails. Not impressed at all. Definitely not going back there.

The food here is so disappointing! Last night they had run out of most condiments, including ketchup, and everything on my plate was undercooked. I left hungry and had to cook when I got home!Some of the staff are great, but several others are super lazy and prefer to stand behind the bar gossiping than serve.

Popped in for a couple of expresso martinis with a friend, I over heard the bar lady ask a colleague to remind her how to make them, I think she must of forgotten an ingredient as they were both half full, leaving us feeling ripped off, two mouthfuls and gone, when you are serving short measures this makes 2-4-1 cocktails a very expensive option, won’t bother again, more staff training required!

I visited your restaurant on Boxing Day with my family. Let me add we are all vegetarians and hindus(which makes eating beef a no no!). We ordered the vegetarian lasagna and and were served the beef lasagna. My entire family had a bite. Keep in mind we have never had meat in our entire life.We didn’t make a scene of it because errors can happen. At this point not an apology yet. Our lasagna was replaced once we made the staff aware. Let me make it clear that despite experiencing something that was a big deal we were not rude and kept calm.The dish was paid for so asked for the dessert to be free instead of asking for a refund on the dish. Most restaurants would offer something complimentary or a percentage off the menu as a gesture due to the distress caused. Instead we were finally apologised to and told that nothing would be given free as it would ‘affect the stock levels’. (The entire place was almost empty)Shocked by the level of customer service. I have been out of the country for a month with work. Headed straight to the slug once I had free time. Once again exceptional service. Myself and friends were in for cocktails and food Friday 22nd November. It was very very busy. We later found out that the slug was hosting a very sad event for one of their customers. Well done all of you at the slug and lettuce. You still made sure everything was good for us. See you soon.

I went for a work lunch with colleagues. Food took a long time but we were fine with that, however, the quality was very poor. Burnt food and generally inedible. When I tried to complain I was shown no compassion or understanding and there was no chance of any apology. The general manager was called but was “too busy” to speak with me. One of the other members of staff when challenged did try to apologise but too little to late. £52 meal wasted. Stay well clear as if you are unfortunate to get a bad experience, which happens everywhere on occasion, it will not be dealt with professionally.

We've lived around S. Woodford for quite a while but never been into the Slug & Lettuce.

I have never left any review in my life , myself in hospitality bussines and can understand everything, but this time I almost been speechless. GM who been drinking outside suddenly decided to approach our table asking my daughters ID. What ???? Fisrt of all having bottle of wine and a cocktails on the table doesn't mean everybody drinking them. Secondary if anybody have a question regarding my daughters age, staff or manager on duty should approach me, not a lady who had a drink in front of me chilling outside . Aggressive disrespectful attitude... it really ruined our evening. I'm coming to this place more than very often, but after all I should be very desperated to come back. Shocked until now . If you work - work , if you drink - drink... absolutely unprofessional.

Brought my friends here for the first time as they were visiting me from out of London. The service was great and the bar had an overall welcoming atmosphere. Our cocktails were great and certain staff members were really good at helping suggest some to try. We visited on 29th June. It was busy but the staff were all very friendly. They were under a lot of pressure but did their best to attend to everyone in turn. Our pornstars were lovely can’t go wrong when it’s 241

Booked an area for a large group. It was late afternoon and was not busy. Waited 25 minutes at the bar for a drink and in this time many people were served before me even though it was clear that I had been waiting a long time. This was my first interaction at the bar and I was very disappointed by it. During this time I saw the bar staff on their phones, sighing and tutting when people ordered cocktails (the pulling factor of the slug) and witnessed them arguing with customers and even swearing at them. A couple of customers who were standing next to me at the bar left to go somewhere else because they were appalled. I would have left too but I had paid a deposit on an area unfortunately.

Couldn’t have been worse service. It wasn’t busy but I waited at the bar for half an hour. Had to ask one staff member if she would mind coming off her mobile phone to serve me and she really let me know she was unhappy as she served me. Tables outside were dirty and sticky; bar was still covered with last night’s detritus; the staff looked as if they hadn’t washed from the night before. M friend later tried to order food (against our advice) and another staff member spoke to him as if he was stupid. At least we can’t tell you that the food was bad (but based on the general experience I’ll assume we had a narrow escape.)Two steps beyond the last straw. Will not make the mistake of coming here again.

I was with my friends celebrating a birthday. We all live in local to the area and always support slug and lettuce among other bars, pubs and restaurants. We asked for a lime cordial in a drink, after we ordered, and literally got screamed at by Janine. She went metal for 10p and was aggressive and angry, we all felt threatened. We were shocked. She was so rude and we will never come back to this establishment. My friends and I have never been treated like this before. We are all so disgusted to be spoken to like that. I would not recommend this place if you paid me. If you ever come across Janine here be careful!

Had a late lunch here recently. Service was attentive. The cod and chips were nicely done, and the bar offered a wide array of wines and beers. Has outdoor seating at both front and back, while the indoor section is large and family-friendly. Well-lit, with good ventilation.
