Cheap food, some items for children out of stock, toilets need some attention. Friendly staff, easy enough to order on the app and came quickly.

We enjoyed this wetherspoons very much, food was nice, portions are good. Service was reasonable considering it was busy, I liked the scenery and atmosphere.

Me and my friends are regular customers at the six templars Wetherspoons but yesterday me and my friends were barred simply because we knew someone that has been previously barred. When my friend asked the reasoning behind it, the manager started shouting and swearing at him even though he wasn’t raising his voice or showing any hostility. They were supposed to have barred some other people but barred us instead. They accused us of harassing one of the bartenders even though we hardly ever go up to the bar. We mostly order our drinks and food over the Wetherspoons app. They say they have a photo of everyone that is barred but we are not even in the photo. If they have a photo of the person who is harassing the bartender, we’ll happily confirm who it is to help out. The manager also told us that anyone we know or knows us is also barred, so that includes other friends and family members. Most of our group have not even had our first warning and we are getting punished for someone else’s doing. We was also threatened with extending the 6 month ban to a year because we was “annoying” the manager even though we standing on the public pathway figuring out where to go eat and no longer on the premises. He was very rude and discriminatory against us all because we knew someone who we have not been associated with for several months.

I do like this wetherspoons pub. But my most recent visit wasn't the best experience. Ordered a gourmet steak meal and the steak was awful. It was like chewing old leather. I had to give up in the end and only managed half of it, if that. I didn't bother to complain as it's not a steak restaurant and it was cheap. In addition, the air con was freezing. Had to sit outside in the end as it was warmer out there. This dispite asking for it to be turned down or off. Several customers agreed it was too cold.

Great place to drink and eat with great location but the American Burger was too small a portion. The chips were also too small portion, greasy and soggy with no taste! The new Ramen dish was of great taste and good portion. San Miguel lager was superb. However, it was disappointing to note that most seats were worn out with stains and old fading upholstery. It’s about time that they’re refurbished or renewed.

Had read some negative reviews, but pub was lovely and light, and clean. Fish and chips great. We went at lunchtime and it was fairly quiet.

I went about 5.00 pm and there were families with young children who let them run about. I thought the food was expensive and they do a big Yorkshire pudding which fills up the plate. I would prefer smaller pudding and more roast potatoes.

Popped into this spoons while wondering around the streets of Hertford (LOADS of good looking pubs in this town by the looks of it- if you have the time). A more modern building amongst the history surrounding it, but none the less pleasant as a result. The usual spoons deal with wonderfully friendly staff and normal seating options, including an additional seating area upstairs. The fish and chips was excellent as was the Guinness. There is decent wheelchair access at the front and to the right.

It's a Wetherspoons. Food is generally good. Occasionally hit and miss. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.

This place is not dog friendly, they cannot allow you to seat with your dog outside. Why? They cannot explain!

We decided to sit outside in the garden as it was a hot day, we also had our miniature dachshund with us, so ideal as he could lay under the table. My husband went in and ordered our lunch along with a side of bacon and specifically said for our dog (no comment was made). Before our food arrived a waitress came over and said that dogs are not allowed at all, this includes the garden. I explained that we’d ordered food and no one said anything at the bar when we mentioned our dog, plus the fact there are no clear signs that say dogs are not even allowed in the garden. The waitress then said you can eat your food and then you have to leave! I ordered a cheese and tomato ciabatta, when it arrived it was the flattest ciabatta I had ever seen, 2 slices of tomato and I couldn’t see any cheese in it at all, let alone taste it. ( I wish I’d taken a photo) Overall the standard is extremely poor food wise, I wouldn’t recommend this place for food as the quality is unacceptable. As for no dogs, not even in the garden is ridiculous! Steer clear of this place, there are so many decent places to eat and drink in Hertford and this place just spoils it!!

Ordered the large breakfast it was absolutely cracking great breakfast haven't been to this one in a few years but it didn't disapoint at all great Atmosphere prefer this one to Bishop's Stortford one staff are friendly here had ordered separate items but they'd put all on same plate great work we'll definitely be back soon

Food was cold some was burnt staff need to be sent for customer service training didn't seem bothered about it duty manager tried to sort it out but he was let down by his staff this is probably the worst Wetherspoons I have had the misfortune to visit the replacement food was hot but virtually inedible...!

Modern purpose built Wetherspoon in Hertford near the castle grounds. Usual Wetherspoon menu and value. Staff were friendly and attentive on our visit so overall a good experience. Will visit again when we're in the town again.

Beer undrinkable & would have taken at least 30 minutes to get it changed at bar so gave up, left it & went elsewhere! Not at all impressed...girl behind bar had no idea who was next to be served & had to wait ages for drinks!

Visited here nearly 3 weeks ago, given them time to resolve my complaint......i'm still waiting! Visited with 2 friends for some food and beer after a local event. We ordered our food and after chasing the food up after about 35 minutes, my meal turned up. The BBQ beef burger turned up as simple single cheese burger, should have been a double burger. No onion rings as advertised and some chips. Due to being hungry, i eat it. My 2 friends were not so "fortunate", after an hour we demanded our money back. Then as we were getting up to leave their meals turned up which we refused. I sent a complaint to head office and the following day i received an apology from The Six Templars manager, stating they only had one person in the kitchen, hence the delays. Why was we not told this when we ordered? A dreadful experience could have been avoided. I did receive a voucher for two free meals (but not drinks) to be used only at The Six Templars which is useless to me and my friends, as we like in Kent and Surrey, and to travel to Hertford would cost more than the vouchers are worth. Dreadful service. Avoid at all cost!

Good service, cheap drinks, and food. Can get food with a soft drink or a pint included for additional £1. The smoking area is available to the rear, with no smoking seating at the front of the pub (front of the pub is on a busy road. The pub has men/female toilets outside, which also serve the public as well as paying customers. On my visit (outside toilet), there was clearly a water leak somewhere as the floor was flooded.

It is usually quite busy and sometimes noisy. The bar staff are nice and helpful. The food is hit and miss. Sometimes it is delicious but quite a few times it is quite cold and you have to wait a while for it to be delivered

Avoid at all costs, especially for food. Went with two friends. The staff forgot our food order, no apology given, when we suggested a round of drinks might be in order this was provided but with a very unpleasant remark from the manager. When two of the three meals had not appeared after an hour and three trips to the bar to chase up we demanded a refund and left, especially as other orders after ours were still coming out. Then, as we were in the act of walking out, our food appeared from the kitchen, which we refused in the circumstances. Needless to say, three complaints are going into Wetherspoon's head office.

I came here a couple of days ago and my brother age 5 went to the bathroom and got completely locked in there he had a full on panic attack and was screaming so so much until they finally calmed him down one man came over and said he would bust the door open(obviously couldn’t and made a fool out of himself😂)then they passed a ladder over for him to step on because his head was too big too fit underneath it and ended up having a massive bruise on his stomach it seemed so painful he came back out all red and everything. This has never happened before so it was very scary for him and they were extremely close to calling the fire brigade he’s fine now but he said he never wants to go in a Wetherspoons toilet again.

Good choice of beers at a good price

The pub itself is well lit, warm and in good order. The staff are friendly, and there are plenty of seats available. The range of beers is impressive, as is the ability to get refills of your coffee if you are driving (like I was) The food ordered to our table consisted of 2 pizzas, a steak and the 'ultimate burger' which I had. It cost about 13 quid and for that you only got two 3oz burgers, one thin slice of cheddar and a token rasher of bacon. The burger was also not the hottest of meals. Now I cannot vouch for the quality of the other meals as I have never had them personally but they looked ok and were eaten without complaint. Maybe I caught the kitchen on a bad night, who knows. But if and when I am there again I won't be ordering the same.

Just been served a "pint" just over three quarters full, asked for it to be topped up and the person behind the bar said "how do I know that you haven't taken a slurp out of it". In over 40 years of drinking no-one has ever accused me of being a lying thief before (at least not on first sight).

I just want to thank the staff today who changed my food for me ,when I rushed to order before 12.00. Very nice about it ,although they were very busy,and I noticed some people leave food all over the floor. Many 😊 thanks.

Awful food and long waiting times, had to wait 40 mins for our food so I decided to approach one of the waitresses and ask where our food was as we'd been patient for 40 mins at this point, she says "I'll check on it for you" and as soon as I sat back down funnily enough our food came to our table🤡 it was cold and not worth the wait at all, the eggs weren't even cooked, the sausages were disgusting and everything was stone cold clearly the waitress hadn't noticed it was ready to take to our table and just left it waiting for ages till someone prompted her to take it, USELESS It's a shame cause I've been here in the past and the food was a lot better (I had the same meal both times) and the waiting time was short, clearly they're too understaffed for the amount of tables and customers they have SORT IT OUT My advice is DON'T GO HERE

Having visited various Wetherspoons throughout the country and my wife always has nachos for us to share. We came to Hertford and expected the same as we've always received. However, the portion of nachos priced £6.95 arrived and was so small that even one person would struggle to have sufficient. It was very small. Cheese was just about administered almost as if the spray gun had run out!! Upon complaining to the young girl who said she was manager, we were informed that the amount given was the normal amount and that no refund could be given due to the way the system works. I'm not at all happy with the food portion nor with the managerial response. Wetherspoons need to educate staff into knowing that the customer is right. Drinks were good and well priced. Atmosphere was noisy and several children were running around the pub. A leaking ceiling with buckets underneath, not fenced off. Waitress brought drinks to table and dripped some onto one of our friends legs. Apologies from her but......luckily he let it go. Even though he now has to wash those clothes. Tim Martin, take notice. Your pubs are losing their standards.

We went for breakfast, had to ask for sausages as they were missing, staff not overly friendly or helpful. Breakfast was cold and not very nice. Only 1 coffee machine working so queue was long. Staff need to go on a customer care course

I went there today and I asked for sausage and chips and beans I got served fish and chips and beans they haven't a clue what they're doing I won't be going back there If I was the manager I would of sacked some of them

My husband visited for coffee and a coke, he said the coffee was good, the atmosphere was warm, and the service was quick and pleasant. He said if we lived in Hertford, he would visit every day — so I think he liked it :)

Popped in for a drink .. fairly busy ...we were there for nearly 2 hours and it was lovely to watch GWEN work ...service with a smile for everyone, always busy always a smile ..wish all bar staff in all pubs were as efficient as her👍

Well we decided to go to the Hertford 6 Templers pub for a change from the Potters Bar pub, on reflection it was a bad change, for us as it is the very first time I have been dis-satisfied with a weatherspoons food visit. We usually go for the 2-5 special offer fish n chips. Well when the meals arrived on the table I was stunned by the size of the fish even though the batter increased the size, it looked like the normal size cut long ways into 2 or three slivers. My wife's looked a lot more to normal but a bit smaller than usual. I said that I was very dissapointed on the size. The waitress said it was the normal size but I pointed out the size difference to my wife's lunch. She took it back and after a longer time than the first, it arrived back with a very small difference. Also the chips were only berely warm. I will not make any more changes in the future, l will stick with Potters Bar pub. So dissapointed!

I would have given this place no stars if it had let me. Awful staff. Obviously basic food but the staff don't seem to be friendly or polite they never seem to ask if everything's ok like they used to do. Just seem to me that all they care about is there looks and money. It's always a hit and miss when it comes to food that's why I changed this review.

Love this place, the vibe is always friendly, the layout is good (I love the nook to the left of the bar- was there on Monday and a log fire was going). Good range of cheap drinks. The food can be a bit hit/miss, just be careful what you order. Staff nice

Had a problem with our food order via app, asked to speak to manager and I must say he was apologetic, courteous, professional and sorted the problem immediately, thank you to Michael stolimans. This young man is an asset to the company!

69 years old, pub goer, worst service I’ve experienced in many years. Two people at the bar (myself and one other several bar staff around) other guy served, new customer walks up and is served next, complain told your next. Gave order totally messed up (3 drinks) told had to pay extra, manager involved, manager couldn’t work the tills, total shambles. Now a large queue at the bar. Need to train staff and management. Poor, poor experience.

'Once again' another disappointing visit. That's three on the trot! Burger & chips, how can you not do a reasonable job in a professional kitchen. It was dry, like it had been under a warmer for a while & the chips were 'over' crispy and overcooked. Three strikes and out. I will not be back again.

What’s going on ? Got my usual gourmet steak , it appears they now absolutely smoother your steak in what they call seasoning , no it a bucket of salt , so much it burns your mouth , sent back , they bought another steak same salty rubbish , only conclusion is they doing this to make you buy more drinks , if weatherspoons don’t get rid of this new idea of there’s I won’t be back

Went there for two panini's and chips. The order was placed at the table via the app. We waited for 35 minutes and then enquired where the food was . I was told they have a lot of people in and had to wait,they will chase up. People that came in 15- 20 mins after us got their food within 15 minutes. I asked again and made them aware others coming in we're getting food first . After 45 minutes the order came out . We were told they had one fryer working. The order was wrong and and ingredient my wife couldn't eat had been added . Not their best effort. Hence one star .

Staff need to complete the course at the finishing school they went to, or at least attend once. Never have I asked for a pint of beer and have it plonked infront of me with 1.5 inches of froth on top, also paid for in advance, before the glass came off the shelf. No wonder Tim stays at home laughing, would not be seen dead in a weatherspoons would you

Found a piece of plastic from a food container in my burger, cheese was cold and hard, and the burgers were gristly. Grumpy waitress pretty much threw the food at us. Staff appear not to care at all about service. The spoons used to be cheap and cheerful now it's overpriced and miserable.

You get a lot for your money as with a lot other spoons and very good service. Thay do nice Christmas dinners on there Christmas menu . Very good size pub quite big .

Only bother going if you want to be moaned at by the manager. We arrived just after 7 and it was rammed. From being told off for ‘unacceptable behaviour’ when my nieces friend accidentally dropped an ice cube, to be being thrown out for our disabled friend having someone accompany her while using the toilet. Hate to say it, but not all disabilities are visible. The response from the manager was shocking, not everyone has the low standards she clearly has. Only positive, the security guard who had to deal with a our crying friend due to the managers lack of understanding about unseen disabilities and making reasonable adjustments for someone who cannot be left alone. Maybe this explains why the majority of people had left by 9pm. Head office weren’t bothered either. Absolutely disgraceful

I am really disgusted with this pub. I visited on Friday for my works Christmas do. The downstairs disabled toilet was unlocked and after a man left the toilet, myself and a friend went in. I am epileptic and do not go into public toilets alone incase of seizures. When we were in the toilet, there was a knock at the door (which we thought was the group of boys that were standing right outside), we said hello but there was no answer so proceeded to use the toilet. As myself and my friend came out- the security man was standing there and told us he was throwing us out because his manager told him too. I questioned why and he said because you two went into the toilet together. I explained that I am epileptic and cannot use the toilet alone and I did say that there is no sign or rule up anywhere to state that two girls cannot use the toilet together. I asked to speak to the manager that had said this and he said I will get her down and she will talk to you but you need to leave. My friend and I stood outside talking to the security guard until the rude manager appeared. I explained the same thing to her that I was epileptic and she said well that doesn’t matter, there is nothing physically wrong with you. Absolutely disgusting and discriminating. I said I have my medical card in my bag and again I got told that I don’t look disabled. I questioned if I was in a wheelchair would I then be able to have someone in with me to which she replied yes because there’s a disability. She went on to say that she knocked on the door because we were clearly doing something. Which yes- we were using the toilet. I apologised and said that we thought it was the group of boys and we did say hello but had no reply. I made a point of saying that there are no notices within that pub that says two people are not allowed in a cubicle and her reply was it would be the same if it was two blokes. I’m absolutely disgusted with the amount of discrimination and rudeness I received that night. I have visited that pub multiple times and I cannot believe what came out of the managers mouth. She should not be a manager if she’s going to be discriminating someone especially because they look fine so clearly haven’t got anything. Absolute vile human being. However the security guard seemed apologetic once I had explained to him. I will not be going in her ever again and I urge others not to either.

This is by far the worst spoons I've been to

Extremely busy, insufficient staff and one of the two coffee machines unable to dispence hot chocolate then 1st machine ran out of milk!! Which took much too long to be filled. Food very basic with quite small portions.

Was not impressed as the breakfast was served completely incorrect even when I had proof of what it should be served like, the waitress fobbed me off after being gone 5mins to come back with a plate of Rocket... Then asked for the manager to come and see us as we requested and even the manager tried to fob me off and her people skills was rude and say I get that you have proof but still didn't correct it, not even an apology that it was plates up wrong (cucumber and tomato) onion and tomato not even close... We will never ever return to such a unorganised place, where the staff are clearly clueless on customer service and manners.

Typical Wetherspoons quality, value, pleasant environment and exemplary service and facilities. Get the app for the locations of Weatherspoon restaurants and hotels across the UK as well as for ordering and paying at the table for even faster service. All except on busy Saturday lunchtimes when service slows and Coffee isn't available.

Cold breakfast served stone cold twice despite being returned. Apologetic front of staff yet still couldn't serve it warm, yet there were two other customers so werent busy. Manager apologised and then carried on cleaning tables. Hoddesdon branch much better for food than Hertford but hertford does have clean tables!

The food service was quite slow, empty glasses and used crockery and cutler were slow to be removed from the tables. The atmosphere is nice and the staff were polite.

Breakfast has gone down hill recently. Often items taken off of menu due to shortages 'toast' !? My last one cold, rubbery egg. Always issues with coffee machines.

Nice place, polite personnel, variety of drinks and food, good quality. Service a bit slower than expected but it was fairly busy on Saturday noon. Would recommend for families/group of friends / casual dinner as the atmosphere was relaxing and the place welcoming.

Lovely experience and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Great selection of ales as to be expected. Well run, clean and lovely bunch of locals.

Nice enough pub. What you come to expect from a 'Spoons pub. Food was cheap, the quality was ok, but not much of an atmosphere in there But that's why we love Wetherspoons.

Went to use the public toilet that Wetherspoons agreed to service as part of it's conditions to open the pub in the first place yesterday. All doors locked as usual. I've tried to use this facility at least 6 times in 2023 & every time it has been locked & I've had to use the pub's loos upstairs. If there is a problem inside, there should be a note on the door to say what it is & when it will be fixed. I'm guessing you store your outdoor tables & chairs in there - what a great advert for the county town of Hertford that the nearest public loos that are open are by the leisure centre in Hartham. Would have given no stars if given the option!

Used to enjoy coming here was always so good but over my last few visits it has gone downhill, drinks dont taste the best and the last few times I've had food here it hasn't been the best, so won't be coming back for a while sadly

We had the 3 meals for £14.96 a ham mushroom and a chicken pizza..both were unercooked dough was raw the pizzas were about 3mm thick and not even 8 inch wde the chicken strips were dried out ..all i got offered was £4.32 for one of the pizzas..having been to lots of weatherspoons around the country the price and standard has gone down..cannot warrant wasting my money in there again

This place employs children who would rather speak to each other rather than serving, Asked for a beer and peanuts come to £3.61 gave her £4.01 , easy 40p change she gave me after keep looking at the till a20p 3x5p and 5 x 1p do these staff not have a test of some sort .

Absolutely shocking service probably 8 staff working 1 behind the bar the other 7 chasing each other around like love struck puppies. I'd say the IQ level required to work here is 3. It would be quicker to brew your own beer than get served here. Pay peanuts get monkeys .

Have to say, had dinner here tonight, to be absolutely honest for what you pay it was superb. We would have had a dessert, if ut wasnt for the noisy brats in the booth facing the bar. Screaming, shouting and bloody annoying!! At 6pm you dont want to hear it, nor the smell from the aerosols they are spraying on their arts and crafts. ITS A PUB NOT A CRECHE!!!! You need to sort this out. The 10 foot clearing to the bar needs to be KID FREE. There's no place for kids at a bar. Abd at 5pm onwards they should be at home, not under the feet and getting on the nerves of adults. Take the little sods home or too the park .NOT to a predominantly adult place.

Table service via the app is always a winner. However, disappointed with the food on this visit however as we had a panini that was over toasted, a jacket potato that was really dry and the double burger was smaller than expected... Not the best visit for us on this occasion...

Went in Sunday afternoon with my wife on her Birthday. It was our 1st drink I ordered a pint of carlsberg and a pint of carlsberg top. There was a short delay barmansaid that they have to change the barrel. He asked me where we were sitting at which I pointed out and said he would bring the drinks over shortly. 5 minutes went by so I return to the bar and enquiring about what what's happening. They didn't seem very sure but said they were having problems with the carlsberg. Another 7 or 8 minutes went by a return to the bar and still couldn't serve my Drinks. Gave it another 5 minutes return the bar said he had done one pint but was struggling with the pint still. It was coming out pretty slowly but he got a halfway then stopped and muttard something and just walked off. It had been about 20-minutes no since 2 pints. Being an X BB arperson I decided I could just reach over and pour the half pint left myself which I did and return to our table with the two pints. About 5 minutes later we were come fronted by the manager and an assistant who said we had to leave the pub because it was not company policy for me to pour my own drink. I explain to him the whole situation but he did not want to listen. He then said he was calling the police. One of the staff snatched are half-finished drinks and walked off. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. We had paid for the for the drinks and we were only trying to rectify the situation no harm or loss had been suffered by anybody. I asked the manager Tyler how long he had been in his job he said 7 months. I said he had a lot to learn and we left. An absolutely disgraceful way to treat people. I am putting an official complaint with wetherspoons see what they Not a lot probably such a shame because it is a nice pub and Hertford is a beautiful town.
