The Harvest Moon Pub in East Hertfordshire

We arrived at our table at 2.30, we could clearly see they were busy but we didn't receive our starter till 3.45!! That's unacceptable and what made it worse was the waitress kept saying for 35-40 mins it's on its way or it's next out. Why loe just say we're having problems and it will be a while. Also 2 of our party had the hunters chicken which quite frankly looked like it had been say there all day, the sauce had dried up and then they both had an upset tummy all night!!! NOT GOOD ALL ROUND and Definitely will not be going back!!

Can’t really fault it, the food was all really nice and tasty. It was reasonably priced and I’d definitely go back and eat there again.

Yesterday my husband and I went to Harvest Moon. The atmosphere was lovely, food tasty. I would like to say Thank you to Amy for providing great service. We felt welcomed and looked after.

Great food and a very reasonable price, has become one of our favourites to visit. Today was especially good as they were willing to adapt the menu for our request. This was no trouble at all and very kindly agreed to serve something from the weekday menu which wasn't included on the weekend menu. Amazing service.

Delicious food, service could be quicker but staff are all friendly and approachable. Atmosphere is warm and lively like a pub should be.

Nice local pub perfect for popping in and having a drink, to watch a game or sitting in the garden in the summer. It's super dog friendly and even has a dog menu so you will find many of the local dogs in there. Only a 3 star as the food is consistently a let down unfortunately. That said the prices are good and my husband does really like the Steak and Ale Pie.

Food is fantastic, you have to try the chicken schnitzel or one of the burgers! Rhiannon’s service makes this place! Service with a smile and tailors your meal to how you want it! Great selection of drinks. In my opinion, best pub in town.

Nice cozy pub not far from Stansted airport. They had a gluten free Christmas menu. Loved the pudding option. The rest of the food was average.

We had a group of 7, the food was ok but i had steak and chips and ordered at extra cost a steak sauce, when our food turned up it was plain to see that because the sauce comes in a pot on the same plate as my steak there was half the chips that everybody had, after removing the pot of sauce from the plate and asking the waitress for the rest of my chips, i was told i wouldn't get anymore unless i paid for another portion, if you think this is acceptable you are wrong and for the sake of a couple of chips you have damaged your reputation. We visited the pub on Boxing Day for a family meal. After pre-booking with our food orders and paying deposits we were contacted twice by the pub saying that two deposits had not been paid and they had not received the food orders. We subsequently visited the pub to ensure everything was ok before our visit and were told it was and all the party’s deposits had been paid and they had all food orders in place. The on-line booking leaves much to be desired! Unfortunately on the day we had to phone the pub to cancel two members of the party due to illness. The main courses were brought out and one meal was wrong from the one ordered. Mine and other members of the party’s meals were ok but my Wife’s meal was not. The roast turkey meal consisted of hard vegetables that couldn’t even be cut, a burnt Yorkshire pudding, stuffing was like cardboard and the pigs in blankets were like rubber, obviously been heated up in the microwave! The only edible part of the meal was the turkey. We felt that the staff were not interested in looking after us as they did not ask if everything was ok nor ask if we would like anymore drinks. We rather disappointedly paid our bill and left.

I held a Christmas lunch/buffet for my staff as our annual get together here Saturday lunchtime - from the moment we arrived the staff were incredibly attentive and catered for our every need. Despite being busy I was very impressed with the service. The food was plentiful and the quality equally impressive in fact beyond my expectation. I want to give a special mention to Alex, Maz and Rhiannon for everything they did to make our party so special - well done girls , we will be recommending The Harvest Moon for sure and see you next year 👍❤️ thank you again Jackie Well Polished Bishops Stortford.

The staff were super friendly , comfortable eating area. The menu had a choice of meals & we both enjoyed our mains & desserts . Reasonable value too.

Great selection of beers and awesome food. Was served drinks at the bar by Alex who knew his stuff and Tilly was our waitress who was lovely.

The food is to die for , prices are far and a must is pudding. And you get a lot for your money

Worst roast i have had in a long time! Under cooked veg and the meat was tough and fatty. Tables are sticky and the staff very slow.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This pub is fantastic all year round! In the summer, the large outdoor area is perfect to enjoy a cold drink in the sun, and in the winter, the inside is warm and cozy. The drink selection is top-notch, and the food is absolutely delicious. It’s dog-friendly, which is a huge bonus, and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is unbeatable, with great people around. Highly recommend!

No one told us you had to tell the staff your vehicle registration....till we got a £100.00 fine? Which was later cancelled. Had a fun time and the food was good and staff rather nice... Especially Laura.

Popped in for an impromptu pint and ended up eating there (again). The beer is always well kept, always found the staff friendly and the food fills you up and is well priced.

Usually take the dog and have a cider and 9 times out of 10 the glasses are dirty, often with lipstick around the rim. The staff are always apologetic but it keeps happening over and over so there is clearly no rim rinsing or even cleaning done other than just the dishwasher.

The young girl who served us didn't know about the oap menu took her 5 mins to find it. Order our dinner and drinks. Drink where left sitting on the bar went and got them after waiting 15 mins. The lady behind the bar called her daughter to help she was probly not old enough and wasent dressed apropat for pub work. Food came after 30 minutes we got our main course 1st which we ate as didn't want left under a heater. So then we got our starter. All in all a very shabby eford from the staff. Have been back today and the service was fine and fast. Much in proved from last time. Thanks

Had a lamb shank roast which was good, only disappointment was the Yorkshire Pudding

I deleted my previous poor review based mainly on the parking fine that 2 of our party received £100 each. The food was disappointing but the venue suited our needs for a large family gathering, so overlooked this. I would say that the assistant manager Alex Moore responded very promptly to my complaint about the fine. He resolved this the same day, contacting Euro Car Parks and cancelling the fines so we can be refunded. Thank you Alex for being fair and taking responsibility to address this. To go a step further it would be good to review your policy, ensuring this is mentioned to customers calling to book a table and perhaps a sign on tables or having the server mention to diners.

It's a lovely place to spend pub time. Food is good, not bad service and lovely inside.

Was once a nice place to eat and drink, not any more, go elsewhere. Staff were doing nothing to move on the travellers who were shouting at each other and squaring up to each other with foul language near the children’s play area, and the meal was horrific. Incredibly slow service, and poor quality food. I know vegetables are supposed to have some bite to them, but I couldn’t even get the cauliflower on the fork, it was rock hard.

First visit ,definitely won't be last . Prompt, efficient service ,even though it was fairly busy .Food was tasty and well cooked ,good sized portions .Very enjoyable.

We came tonight with grop of friends for the Elvis act. It was amazing! We hadnt reserved a table so spent the first part in the bar area. Then a young lady told us a table was available in the dining area so spent the rest of the night in there. Service was good, we were well looked after throughout. The Elvis was top draw! Lots of people dancing and atmosphere was great. Will be back again for sure.

I came here as an after party and it was great but the food took 30m to arrive (it was only chips) but other than that really nice bar and place.

We visited the Harvest Moon Restaurant in Bishops Stortford for the first time on 30th July '24. Our relations we went with go there regularly. I found the Restaurant very spacious, our waitress very friendly and helpful. The food was very nice, I had Battered Halluomi which was very nice. Service was with a smile, we live 38 miles from Bishops Stortford but will definitely return.

The food is straight up BUSSIN!!!! Although the service is terrible because it takes 1hr - 1hr and 30mins! The Atmosphere is very bad as there is lots of smoking!

We had our grandson christening reception here… Amazing. Lovely buffet laid on. Staff were very attentive. Laura the manager was very professional and a lovely person to deal with… all the guest said how lovely it was. Thank you guys

This pub is great. 2 x meals for £14.95 and not bad grub either. We were served by a guy called Elliot Clark and happened to mention that we loved the Sticky Toffee Pudding (probably the best we have ever had, even contained raisons!!) and he then said that he had made it. We returned again a couple of days ago and still great!!!

Food is nice, staff are friendly and pub is welcoming. Plenty of space inside and out.

Bit slow service but relatively ok

I recieved a parking fine of £100 , there was nothing to show the car park was anything other than a regular car park. The staff should warn you about the possibility of fine or issue parking permits or something. I've tried to ring and speak to the pub but nobody picks up. NICE PUB BUT BEWARE THE CAR PARK UPDATE: The parking charge is in the process of being cancelled for all four members of our party, I have suggested the staff ask for registration number as they take the order. If they don'ty make sure you give yours to them to save this inconvenience. The food was really nice and service was good too, I would definitely recommend The Harvest Moon , just be aware of the parking situation.

Came here because we had a groupon for burgers and a drink and wanted to try somewhere new. It was quite busy and short staffed and we were told the food wait was about an hour. This didn't worry us and wasn't in a rush but did see a few people leave. Our hardworking waitress Mimi looked after us incredibly well. An asset to the business. Lovely atmosphere and the food was of a very high standard. We all enjoyed what we had immensely. Sadly, no matter how she tried, the voucher would not go through so we ended up paying. (I will get on to groupon). But it didn't spoil our night. We had a lovely time. Thank you.

Really great cellar; decent ales and food good value.

Bad management. As Four adults and two kids, we wanted to sit together they said no and we asked if kids can sit one table and us adults another then they said no even though waiter said say then her manager said all the tables were reserved even though they were not. It is one of those moment that you know there is a sinister reason for this behaviour but you can't say anything. As it was late we settle one of the tables at the pub section and ordered the food and the food was disgusting. Shame on you serving those burgers , I will not be surprised if I hear an incident relating the food they serve soon. On top of it, half of the order turned up and when I asked the reason why the rest of the orders not served to manager looking lady, instead of apology she said "well there must be other orders needs to be served". If you cannot be kind and focus on solving problems then don't be in hospitality business. People get upset when a pub closes but some pubs like this don't deserve to stay in business with this attitude and prejudice. We will not go there again and let our friends know about this too. One advice for the people who said they loved the food there is to be honest or try eating somewhere else then revisit the review.

Reasonable food at a great price. However the attentiveness of waitress staff was dreadful. We wanted pudding but waited 30 min and no one came to ask if we wanted more drinks ir pudding or coffee. I will go again as they did have a band when we visited amd it seemed the minimal staff were all being used at the bar. It’s my local so I’m keen to try again.

It's been a few years since I was here last. Their menu is now much more gastro pub like whilst still being a lovely local place. Loads more gluten free options. Staff very friendly. I came here with two friends and parked my car in the pub's dedicated parking outside. 10 days later I receive a charge at home from EuroParks for £100! I had to do some detective work to figure out where this charge came from. Finally I figured that maybe the charge came from the random pub we had lunch at. We called the pub and they said they could remove the charge if we gave them evidence of the bank transaction on that day. There was not clear signing in the parking lot that we had to do anything and at no point the staff mentioned that we had to register the car so we left thinking everything was in order. The charge looked like a fine that comes from the police department so I've no doubt that many people in my position would just pay it without questioning it too much. This is a very cheeky and dishonest scheme that goes on in several pubs in the UK. Shame on pub managers who take part and for not communicating with customers clearly, and creating extra hassle for them instead. It's just bad business. We weren't impressed with the food either.

Popular family orientated, food led Greene King pub. You can't go wrong really if you are after traditional food and a nice beer garden. Has playing fields next to it so good for letting the kids or dog loose for a bit while you rehydrate. Parking is awkward though. The pubs car park is tiny. The community centre next door is probably your best bet

Well, I waited for the food, took 1 hour to deliver. However, the service was good, my brother does not like to eat anything but sausages, but there was a little meal however we wanted a big meal. Very good!! X I didn’t like the burger tho, too crispy!!

Lovely Easter dinner.. fast and friendly service. Children loved the Easter egg hunt and surprise visit from the horses!

I dislike giving bad reviews, but i was truly upset by the experience i had here for my birthday. We were a booking of 9 at 4pm. We finally got starters just after 5 and our mains just after 6!one main was forgotten we had to chase. Service was slow, staff didn't care. Food wasn't the best. When paying bill we complained but staff just shrugged it off. If we had been told food was 2 hours we would have gone elsewhere. 😪

Booked the Harvest Moon for a private event in March; we were treated extremely well by all staff, a special mention to Alex who was excellent to all our guests, making sure everyone had everything they wanted at all times. Excellent food and service throughout. Highly recommend.

Great pub for families and pet owners. Dogs are allowed in the bar area where there is plenty of seating. Menu has plenty choice and the pub has a nice atmosphere. Very good place to go in the Summer when the weather is good as large outside area.

Slow, expensive for what it is.

We have been 3 or 4 times now, the food is really good the service, even when it's busy is exceptionally awesome, the staff always put themselves out for us. The Manager and i think his Wife are also very pleasant and helpful. The Sunday Roast was very well cooked and very well presented. So all you need to do is book a table, ( as Sunday Roast is very popular). The price is very competitive. Very well done to all involved, we hope to see you again soon. Regards Richard & Marian.
