CUSTOMERS TALK ABOUT DISHES WITH.. old

The staff are lovely and the food is really nice, due to the new chef. However the owner doesn't really seem to care too much about customer care.

Today we visited the Six Bells with some friends to eat supper and sit in the garden as the weather has been so good I have to say the food was amazing we had a variety of dishes between us, all cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced we will definitely be returning. Well done to the new chef !

We held my fathers wake here and we were very impressed. They were unable to provide us with a buffet due to COVID but provided us with a lovely afternoon tea. It was beautifully presented and plentiful . The staff looked after us very well. We were very grateful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use again.

Total disaster from start to finish, prebooked for 20+ people, preordered, Nothing prepared for us, no sensible seating arrangement, moved the group 3 times then 2 of our members had to eat alone in another bar, nobody gave a damm, food was poor, waited 40 mins for prepaid coffee - left without it tired of waiting, manager wouldn't speak to us before we left therefore unable to complain in person as he was - RESTING !!!!! DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE IT IS RUBBISH

A group of 17 of us went for a two course Christmas meal. We were given a private area beautifully decorated with lights and tables laid with crackers. The meal was beautiful, and was enjoyed by all. Plenty of choices for dessert! One of our group is gluten intolerant which was not a problem as we prebooked so they were able to plan and prepare. The staff couldn't of been more helpful. A great evening all round!

perfect position lovely building and garden but my god it needs a lot of money spent on it from shabby seats and tables to the worst toilets I've seen for years so dated this could be a goldmine if someone put their hand in their pocket and gave it a complete make over needs to shut for a month and completely regenerate

We booked the Six Bells to hold a funeral wake, as it is very close to the cemetery. Although, obviously a sad event I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Landlord and staff for being so friendly and professional. The pub has a well stocked bar and serves a large array of beers, wines and ciders. The buffet which could equally be used for happier occasions ( birthdays, weddings etc) was simple but very good value for money. The pub has enough space to cater for fairly large parties and has a lovely 'beer garden' full of equipment to keep the children entertained! In short this pub seems out of place in Northfleet , it should be a country pub surrounded by fields ( however it probably was 100 years ago). A great Kentish pub! Pay this place a visit!!

The Six Bells was a coaching Inn dating back to the 1760's and still retains an olde world charm, the restaurant provides good basic meals served by cheerful staff. There are still two bars public and saloon which do show signs of wear and are in need of refurbishment, however there is a genuine welcome and the bar staff soon remember your preferences. They do sell Doombar a fantastic Cornish bitter. Would always recomend this as a venue to visit.

We held our annual family get together here yesterday in memory of my mother - 39 adults and children! We used the function room which is quite small, but the large garden was a god-send with all the children being under-10. Jill looked after us very well and laid on a lovely buffet, with different food for the adults and children - nothing too special, but just what was needed. We all had a great time, with lots to drink - my guess is that we will be back next year!

I have been to this pub on a few occasions, and have found the staff and service to be very good. The food that I have had has been good and value for money. The Landlord keeps a good cellar and I have never had a bad pint. It is not my local but if it was I would use it all the time. If you live local give it a try, use it or lose it.

Great for a lunch time pint and bite to eat. This is a proper pub, not a restaurant in pubs clothing. The decor is tired and scrappy but who cares, its a pub... well situated and great value. Plus in the summer it has a big garden area. The food is good pub grub and the service is fast...perfect!

This was for the many volunteers at our carers' group which sadly disbands soon. The pub is situated in a convenient location for all, though it could do with a slightly bigger car park. A warm welcome was there for us, both with the 'real' fire in the fire place and the friendly staff waiting to serve us. The cold weather meant I fancied a cuppa more than a cold drink and the staff rose to the occasion by asking if anyone else did too. Many did, so they made a big pot. The buffet was sensibly laid out in 2 places, plentiful and tasty though some fresh salad would have been nice too, despite the cold weather. More tea was cheerfully made whenever needed, in some ways the best bit on this rather sad occasion. The pub is well looked after but the lovely staff really make the pleasant atmosphere that was obvious the whole time.

My Husband and I were staying in Gravesend for our dear Uncles funeral and the Six Bells had been booked for the Wake afterwards. It is very close to the house our Uncle and Aunt had lived in since 1968 and the home that Aunty now lives in.We had travelled down to Kent from Norfolk and the day before the funeral we decided to go there for lunch and see what it was like. My Husband had been down in Northfleet two weeks previously and had gone there for his lunch one day and he had wanted me to take a look.He had described it as a "proper old fashioned pub" with very friendly staff and some real local characters. The pub is situated right on the road side with good carparking facilities at the rear.It is obviously very old and on enquiring was told it is 300 years old.We went in the bar for our lunch and it has low beamed ceilings, brick fireplace and regulars at the bar.My Husband ordered our drinks and brought back menus for us to look at.The menu was not vast but there was a good choice of food.I had the steak in Kent Ale and mushroom pie with a flaky pastry crust with mashed potato and peas and my Husband had sausage, mash and peas. This was brought over by a very nice young man who also put a jug of gravy on the table too.The food was home made, well presented, hot and very delicious. We both enjoyed it.On the afternoon of the wake we arrived to a roaring fire in the hearth and the bar area had been reserved for our party. We were welcomed by the landlady and there was tea and coffee on arrival to warm us and full use of the bar.A great buffet had been put out in the separate dining room which went down very well with everyone. We were able to enjoy the intimate, cosy atmosphere of this charming old pub and give our dear Uncle a send off he would have enjoyed himself. The landlady and her staff were all welcoming and friendly and we are very grateful to them for giving us the opportunity to say goodbye in this way.Later on the locals came in too and the atmosphere remained really lovely. The cost of having the wake here was very reasonable and we could not have picked anywhere better for it.The landlady and her staff were all welcoming and friendly and we are very grateful to them for giving us the opportunity to say goodbye in this way.
