Worst Sunday lunch. Waited nearly 2 hours, arrived cold. Supposed to be Turkey but was Chicken. No apologies or offer of a free drink. 2 children with us, very hungry. Toilets blocked up. Never again.

Seemed nice enough, barely any music just had to listen to people's conversations and knives on plates, was told there's no turkey but we have beef, no problem, wait 10mins to have our order taken to be told that wasn't true they have no roasts, bit poor service check with the kitchen before you tell false information

Had a lovely late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, first visit to the Ship. We had plans to eat in a nearby venue but was let down by their menu so found ourselves at The Ship (and were quite glad). Very friendly service from all of the ladies on shift today, helpful and chatty which added to the atmosphere. Food was delicious, katsu curry would be a particular recommendation, and was served quickly. Is a nice comfortable venue and would happily return.

Nice country pub just off the A2, Cobham. Has Green King beer, and is dog friendly. Has a good Pub food menu on offer Good size car park and near to Jeskins Park.

Lovely atmosphere quite busy for a Tuesday lunchtime - senior men’s is excellent value - smaller portions but 3 courses for £7.99 absolute bargain - I was full and didn’t eat again that day! We spent more in our drinks than food 😂we spent nearly 5 hours there and didn’t feel pressured to move to the bar area or leave. Staff friendly and attentive - only criticism was the pub itself felt a bit cold but prefer that when eating rather than being too hot!

Nice pub but way way to slow service. Second pub we had gone to with friends on our Christmas walk, the first pub was a complete disaster. We ordered drinks and food and was told there would be a wait, no problem. The problem is why is the land lord employing only two people to run a pub and kitchen during the Christmas holiday period. This is clearly not enough as the second drink we ordered I waited for at least 10 minutes with know one behind the bar. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the staff just the fact that the land lord thinks this is acceptable. No wonder the great British pub is a dying commodity.. Edit 3 Feb 2024, the worst food I've had in a long time..out with good friends so said nothing. Fish was more batter than fish, starters burnt, far far better elsewhere.

We had to wait for over a hour for our food. When we eventually got it my partners lasagne was hard on the bottom and inedible. My gammon was overcooked, gammon should not have any black on it. Overall very poor and will not be returning.

It was quiet but had a nice feel about it. Will go back to try the roast.had the dish and chips for a lunch but thought I got served the OAP portion, could have (and should have) been a little bigger. Quality was good though.

The staff coped very well with our table of 13 for lunch for my partner's 80th birthday. The food and service was very good.

We visited here on a Sunday evening for dinner. As soon as we entered the young lady behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly. We didn't wait long at all for our food as it wasn't too busy in the pub. When the food did arrive we were very impressed, it was piping hot, fresh and really very nice, thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning soon.

This was our first visit to The Ship, despite it being only 20 minutes drive from where we live. The staff were very welcoming and happy to accommodate us when we wanted a different table. The Real Ales were excellent and the menu choices were very good. Our main courses were cooked to our satisfaction and were very filling. I am sure that we will return!

We visited the Ship on the off chance, as we had a sudden change of plans for the afternoon. We arrived during peak lunchtime on Saturday and were met with a busy welcoming pub. We were able to find an available table and staff were quick to take our food and drinks order at the bar We were advised that there could be a 20 minute wait, but were not put off by this. Our drinks order arrived swiftly to our table and despite the warning, our food followed soon after. The food was plentiful and really tasty and we both felt represented good value for money.When staff cleared the table, they asked how we had enjoyed meal. In summary, a lovely afternoon and meal, we will definitely return.

Brilliant food, lovely atmosphere. We went as a table of 14 with family. I was a bit nervous as when we normally go out as a big group for meals it normally doesn’t go to plan but I must say Chris the manager was excellent. He kept checking we were ok and done a pre order which made the meals a lot more quicker on the day! The food was really lovely and even though the pub was busy the staff kept checking we were ok and asking us if we needed anything. All the family will definitely be recommending this pub to others and we can’t wait to come back! Thanks again! Xx

Overall an excellent evening, the food was a little slow due to being a busy Saturday evening before Christmas. The friendly and attentive staff were great. Will be back soon.

The worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been here for 2 and a half hours and it took 2 of those to get mains out . When they did arrive most of the 10 meals were cold. Brussel sprouts that you could even put a fork into left alone cut into or chew. Then we get to desserts. This is where thing turn from ridiculous to down right dangerous one of the party has an allergy when the server was asked was the dessert the one she requested the response was “it should be” Given that people have died after an allergic reaction “it should be” isn’t an acceptable answer. After complaining we only paid for the drinks and quite rightly so as most of it was in edible. Not once did the manager come and speak to us.

Could even talk to us. The food was bad I couldn't even put a fork in my Potatoes. 1 slice of gravey. Staff are Spastic. No service what so ever

Good pub food, well cooked and hot

This is a nice pub for lunch. The food is ok and there’s a good choice. My brother and I went on a Tuesday and it was quite popular. Which brings me to my but……the young lady who works there was on her own. She was taking orders, bringing food and drink for people in the restaurant but also serving bar. She was all on her own, with no help whatsoever. She did a grand job but it’s not right that she was alone.

Disappointed that we missed Sunday service....at 8pm food we had day before was spot on except pastry on pie was really thick and too hard for me. Will definitely be back next year

Nice comfortable pub. Good menu. We had the senior menu which is reduced portion sizes. £6.99 for two courses. More than enough for lunchtime. + 2 lattes 1 tea £20.75.

Very close to our accom. With a good “pub grub” range . We both had the flavoursome the lasagne & salad with a glass of red for an economical meal. Plenty of parking . Staff were friendly & efficient.

What a lovely pub this is, in a lovely village. The waitress who served us was very friendly and, couldn't have been any more helpful. The food was delicious. My mother and I had the beef pie and was what I would expect from a country pub, full to the brim with meat and gravy. The portion sizes were no way shy. My son had chicken strips and helped himself to the gravy off my plate which he said was 'the best gravy ever'. Great value for money. Will be coming back.

'OK' just about sums this pub up. Two meals one was ok for the price (no complaint here) but the other one was decidedly below par, a so called award winning pie was overcooked and dried up. Pastry was like concrete. The accompanying mash was reasonable at best. One member of staff at least looked like they would rather be somewhere else but the rest were nice enough. Atmosphere? It's a bit lacking in that department and it needs a good redecoration, not modernising and themed just a good make over. Cobham is lucky to have three functioning pubs in a one hundred yard main street and this one needs to up its game in almost all respects.

Very disappointed. My wife and her friends had booked lunch at 12:15 on Wednesday 6th. They arrived and the pub was shut because of a chip pan fire. The pub had made no contact to say that they were shut. Very unprofessional.

Fish and chips with mushy peas The fish was over cooked and broken should not have left kitchen everything else was sub standard Should have sent it all back but my wife did not want me to make a fuse Will not be back I'm guessing this was a one off mistake but surely you would notice it was that bad

Found this pub restaurant last week when looking for somewhere to eat rather than the hotel restaurant, Advertised as traditional pub grub, great menu something for everyone, separate menu's for adults, children, vegans, gluten free and for senior citizens at lunch time. Staff friendly and helpful, large car park. plenty of choice on menu with some money saving options, we ate her twice and average cost per sitting for two people having 2 courses and a round of drinks was £35. I just wish it was closer to where I live,

Had a really lovely meal, there was 6 of us for my birthday. Great variety to choose from on menu and staff were great. Will definitely come again.

Popped in for lunch. IPA freshly hand pulled and very good pint. The chicken, bacon and avocado open sandwich was lovely. Friendly welcome. Great service.

The team are a credit to Greene King The food was amazing and all the team are amazing. Myself and my family were in Kent for a holiday as we had come up from Brighton. I highly recommend this pub. Nice 17th century pub with a great atmosphere.

I ordered the beef and beer cheese toastie - it was definitely not worth the £7 paid for it! It was basically half of a toastie. Although the cheese was melted it was cold by the time it reached me, it was awful! The side of salad that it came with was a small heap of rocket. Not entirely sure if I would go back for lunch again

Popped into the Ship Inn after completing a long walk from Shorne via the Darnley trail with our pooch. Friendly staff and food wasn’t too bad. They serve food until 5pm. I had beef and ale pie and Marisa had scampi and chips.

Ordered two meals one of which was a beef pie when it arrived it looked as if it had been inthe oven for hours it was so hard so impossible to ear had to scrape out filling and leave all of pie gravy was congealed .On complaint staff not helpfull at all they came back from CHEF and said he was new and would check it better next time not good enough

Excellent value on Seniors menu. A smaller portion but together with the offer including a sweet very sufficient for both of us. Restaurant was very busy but we had booked and the table was reserved and available on arrival.

It's perfect for a drink and dog friendly. Sadly I feel it has a lot more potential to be greater. Pleasant area outside with picnic bench tables. Ashtrays are always full but there is a heated parasol customers can turn on and plenty of dog water bowls that staff will fill up on request.

Lottie is so awesome, she always looks after my rescue dog who after a long drive today was over tired and a bit sensitive but was rewarded by a lovely soft blanket and kindness from Lottie who made our meal really enjoyable by checking in on her. Very dog friendly, staff chatty and friendly, food served fairly late on a Friday when we go, pretty village, loads of history.

Not so good this time ,the wife's steak was fine but my chicken tikka mesala come with a nan bread which was dry and crisp , clearly stale . But the main problem was the flies which pested us throught the meal . We intended having a sweet but the service is as normal slow so as no one come to clear the plates we decided to pay at the bar and leave the flies to the next customer .

So unfair on the few staff, to have to do everything, thus making service slow. Everyone loves The Ship, but so many negative comments about slow service of food. It's not the fault of the staff and yes you prob' need the pub to make more money in order to get more staff. Why not pump in a little more money for staff, before looking at profits, as without extra staff, service cannot improve and you have a high turnover of staff where they are so rushed off their feet. It's not working with such few staff.

What a lovely atmosphere, staff were very friendly and polite . Value for money with the food and really nice, it’s been over 40 years since I left the village and the Ship inn has not changed that much. Which is great to chill out

Waited long time for food pub didn't seem that busy but all our meals were very over cooked we had fish and chips x2 and hunters chicken all ways been lovely don't think we coming again

It was our 36th wedding anniversary yesterday we turned up as the other pub down the road wasn’t serving food from 3pm .we was both presently surprised this is a little gem the food was excellent the bar staff was lovely will definitely return in the future

Typical soulless Greene King pub. Lack of atmosphere, lack of beer choice. Staff have lost the will to serve with manners and a smile. When we complained about the number of flies inside the pub, at our table, the reply was half-hearted shoulder shrugs. I have been a regular visitor for over 30 years. Well I will not return.

Beautiful little pub, plenty of parking. Very good Choice of food on the menu and very cheap.. The evening we arrived was quite busy and the young lady was on her own as other member of staff had to go home, but the young lady done an amazing job 👏👏 food was fantastic as usual! I was in Kent and lucky enough to be close to Cobham, which is a very quaint village in itself. Decided to have lunch at the local Green King pub The Ship Inn. Plenty of choice at a decent price to choose from the Green...

The coffee was very good and strong. The food was good though my rump steak was a little fatty but tasted good. Staff were friendly and service was quick. They came to the table to take our food order plus sometimes our drinks too.

Tasty food with good prices and friendly staff. For a table of 8 it only came to just over £130 for multiple drinks meals and desert. The only down side is walking there can be tough so would recommend driving

I have been to the ship in many times and have enjoyed the food there but today was awful . The bread was really hard the garlic bread could have knocked someone out it was that hard , the sourdough was hard to cut and also hard. The chicken was burnt to. My sons burger was ok. We did make the waitress aware but no response back.

Booked a table for 5:30 and Arrived and was told that the chef wasn’t there and wouldn’t be in until 6 . That’s the third time that has happened . No barcardi as someone had dropped the one and only bottle . !! Food was slightly warm , and as the chef had only just arrrived to cook it , how was it only warm and not hot !!?? Fish was all batter and no fish , mushy peas were cold , a handful of chips , and the smallest prawns on a king size prawn plate I’ve seen . I have now learnt my lesson for the third time and will NOT be returning . Need more staff . And a reliable chef . Shame as the pub itself is a nice oldy worldy pub . No toilet roll in the toilets and a blocked toilet . And also heard others order their meal and were told no fish , so we had the last fish and we were the first people ordering !! 😩 no mushrooms , no OAP meals etc etc etc Never again ! Lady serving was quite miserable , but apologetic . But never smiled

The last time we were in the pub for a meal my wife booked a fathers Day meal, this was done and we turn up on the Day, and walk to the bar with no greeting, and said to the barmaid that we have booked...

We had a wonderful and warm welcome on the evening we arrived in our Motorhome. We’d even had a call from the lovely landlady to let us know what time the kitchen closed. We ordered two rump steaks and these were cooked to perfection, served with the usual accompaniments. Definitely a great place to go and one we’ll visit again!

Friendly staff, good range of food at a good price. I had the platter for starters, and mixed grill for main course.

The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was relaxed. Unfortunately we had to wait over 50 minutes for our food. Unfortunately the toilets were not clean. One toilet was completely blocked and the light in the other toilet was constantly flickering.

It is amazing. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food is always hot and great value for money!

We were amazed that our 3 course meals and drinks came to £25 per person because they tasted so good! There were plenty of gluten free options too.
