A smashing traditional cafe, easily accessible from the A2, offering something for everyone from breakfast through to lunch and dinner. Be warned - portions are huge - takeaway boxes are available. My goodness, I thought I could eat!! There’s always a warm welcome from the friendly staff, and the meals are well cooked. Very, very good value. It’s always spotlessly clean. Take a menu, find a table, order from the counter and your food is brought to the table.

Quality cafe. Never fails to deliver an awesome breakfast. Staff spot on and nothings too much bother…. Offers a wide range of breakfasts, which you can tailor to what you like… and the lunch/ dinner menu is just as good.

We are new in this area and we went to try this cafe and it is the best we’ve ever had we will surely come back for more as we already had it twice this week you get 3 toasted slices of bread one jumbo sausage, beans, bacon and egg even an extra portion of chips all together costing under £10. 10/10 experience and food highly recommend!

As a birthday treat my wife and I visited Nell’s for a good old-fashioned fry up and we were not disappointed! Greeted by a very happy and helpful young lady at the till who took our order and advised on what swaps were allowed for the set meals. Breakfasts both arrived promptly and piping hot and were amply stocked with high quality fare. Highly recommend.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and great service! Cannot recommend Nells Cafe more! The roast dinner are delicious, the light breakfast is super tasty and everything is always served hot and nicely done.

Quite grim old school cafe in Kent. i suppose if you are not too fussy you would find this place ok ,However for me it was simply too grotty and the food neither tasty nor cheap.Sorry Nell's!

The food is just below, ok. Coffee was weak. In fact, it was coloured water. Look nice in there and clean. Busy but that could be because it is just on the busy road.

Still a Proper Cafe . popped in for breakfast and meet some friends .

It is what it is. Simple. Effective and friendly. Only done the bacon sarnie so far but lovely bread to go with properly cooked bacon.

This is great little discovery, located just of the A2 at Marling Cross, Watling Street, great place for breakfast, plenty of free parking, welcoming and friendly staff

Amazing find and highly recommended. We were met with a genuine, friendly and warm welcome by the owner and team. Good selection of tasty food at a very reasonable price. We had breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed them. Nice to be served tea in a big mug too. We will stop by again when we're in the area.

U hav got to try the food, I had a sausage baguette big& crispy on outside soft & yummy on inside, wife had a tuna baguette, she saved 1/2 for later, defo value for money, defo call next time we r passing,

Iconic Gravesend cafe and legendary breakfasts. It was my first time here in years and as good today as it was 30 years ago.

For food on the move Nell's is outstanding whether your are passing by on the A2 or resident of Gravesend this an excellent place for a full English, brunch or tea. Good quality food and friendly staff make this an outstanding venue. (Also a set for many TV series and pop videos.)

Terrible stale tastinge baguette roll and asked for well done bacon and it come oinking in my stick it was so under cooked.

Absolutely delicious food and the staff are really friendly.

Nice and clean inside and friendly efficient service. Food was okay and that's about it. Would of been much better if the bubble had been homemade and not out of the bag and the mushrooms weren't overcooked as to vaguely resemble dried shrooms. I wouldn't bother returning myself but it seemed to have a regular flow of custom.

Having moved from the Detling Diner, which after taking new ownership dont appear to want Bikers. Even the outside tea hut has gone. It will fail!! However although parking could get crowded the breakfast was large hot and tasty. Staff and service excellent. 👍🏼 5*****

Just stopped off to have a family breakfast. Lovely clean seating area and very helpful friendly staff. We had a traditional breakfast a larger breakfast and a cheese burger and chips. The quality of produce was excellent the sausage being butchers not cheap catering one. The bubble also homemade I would think not wet and slimey at all. The bread was crusty thick cut fresh loaf. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the price. My husband was very pleased with his cheeseburger and chips again quality food and all fresh cooked to order not greasy just full of flavour. The waitress was lovely and the lady on the till was great as we didn't want a few items that came with the breakfast and she asked us what we would like to replace the items we didn't like. Superb service thank you so much we will be returning!

Delicious breakfast and you get your monies worth

Nell’s Cafe was a staple of my youth when late nights out were always rounded off by a stop at Nell’s for breakfast or cups of tea. Fast forward a lot of years (decades even) and a recent visit to the area gave me a chance to relive some of those memories. The breakfasts are still the same - big plates of food cooked fresh to order, except now they do a veggie breakfast with great bubble and squeak. The coffee is still served in mugs and it’s of the quality that my nan would have called “proper coffee before all this nonsense about americanos and lattes” ie its black or its white. There is no discussion about brown or white bread. It’s white bread, it’s on a separate plate and there’s no butter. What a joy to have a well cooked old fashioned (vegetarian) fry up. Staff are polite, you can sit and watch the world whizz by and it is like going back in time. I really enjoyed my breakfast and there’s a reason why this place has lasted for so long.

Popped in last weekend on our way back to Iwade from London, our first stop was the Ace cafe but the Queue was too long and only one person serving, so we thought skip that well try Nells, not having been there for years, what a pleasant experience it was, the boss ordered hers and thoroughly enjoyed mine was the Sunday roast and it was 5* so if you pass this way stop in and enjoy and give the chef and staff a pat on the back

Hidden gem. I had sausage and bacon baguette and as far as a sausage and bacon baguette goes it was to die for!!

Always made to feel welcome in this typical English cafe. It's clean and could eat off the toilet floor. Good value for home cooked food.

I use the cafe when I'm working in Gravesend. The breakfasts are generous and reasonable in price. The setting is retro, and reminiscent of the old days while keeping in with modern standards. It's large, clean, and bright. Wholly recommended.

If possible will always pop in for breakfast when on a journey and passing. Good quality excellent value for money
