Gingers Bakery in Gravesham

Prices are through the roof!!! Nearly £10 for a cheese and onion panini. It's too much. I will only order when I'm desperate for a change but normally get left feeling like it wasn't worth the money. Donuts aren't fresh and soft, always a bit stale and I leave it so long in-between visits I start to forget how disappointing it is. Plenty of better bakeries around but unfortunately a bit of a drive to get to them from where we are which is the only reason I have gone back but I think today was the final visit. The food quality just doesn't justify the high prices.

bit disappointing to pay £3.20 for a sandwich at a bakery to see them not pick up the fresh baked white loaf and instead, get your bread out of the orange warburtons presliced bag right next to it. the cheese and bacon turnover tasted lovely but considering that and the sandwich came to £8, i wouldn’t recommend it

Would not recommend, one small sausage cut in half to fill a doorstep sandwich cakes were stale, inedible! Service has gone very downhill not good quality at all. I’d say charging lots more cutting every corner. Terrible!

We stayed at the Premier Inn for a party. The Beefeater next door was shut for breakfast, except for bookings. We were really lucky and found Gingers down the road - best breakfast I’ve had for a long time and lovely staff. Delicious coffee too.

Can’t comment on the atmosphere but food was delivered with someone’s complete meal missing. The rest was cold & soggy.Waited an hour only to put it all in the bin & order from elsewhere.

Rolls were fresh, fillings were great staff outstanding recommend fully. First time here and was blown away. Definitely will be a regular visit from now on. Thank you Gingers really appreciate everything we had.

Was placing an order when a regular walked in and I was half ignored. My order was then wrong and it wasn't even busy. Just a FYI they don't cook the top of the egg it's still snotty, this is fine for some people but would have been nice to be asked as I'm not a fan.

Just for feed back .. please put salt on sauce on the table . Everything else was perfect .. you could only better the plate with a korkers sausage !!!!!!!

Great local bakery, sandwich bar and cafe. Lovely food and friendly staff.

The food itself in this bakery is excellent. I used to go here all the time and there was never a time the food let them down. The problem is their staff, they really lack customer service skills, which is a pretty big deal to me...hence why I stopped coming. They are just down right rude, they also do not provide allergy information, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. My daughter has allergies and 3 times I attempted to find out about their allergens, and all 3 times was met with blank faces and short answers, they couldn't even be bothered to attempt to find out, the best I got was "we don't know". Very poorly run. They get 3 stars for the quality of food though, you can't knock it. There also isn't a toilet, which is ridiculous.

Popped in to pick up three bacon rolls, impressed with the service, the place and the food. A good setup, nice and clean and no fuss. Lovely bacon rolls!

I went in today at 11.45am, I was 3rd in line to be served. The short lady with the messy hair bun, was serving the customers Infront who she made them a sandwich wearing vinyl gloves, which I thought was very hygienic. I thought she was going to take them off, but she then proceeded to take cash from the customer, go over to the till, and give change back wearing the same gloves. The way this lady spoke to her customers, was appalling. Why did I feel upset when leaving this place? Then she took my order, and went to make my baguette using the SAME gloves she just handled all that money with. So I asked her politely to remove those gloves and put clean ones on. Then she came over to take my cash payment, once again wearing the gloves. And then she short changed me by £1 which I pulled her up on. As I walked out she took the next customers order, and as I watched.... She AGAIN used the same gloves she just handled my money with to make their sandwich!! During times where hygiene should be 5*, this was below 1. I was astonished by the lack of hygiene in this place!! I gave them the benefit of a doubt, and I've already complained of this same issue a few months ago, but clearly they have not learnt or had food hygiene training. So I have no choice, but to take this further with the food hygiene standards.

50 % tax on a sausage roll if you sit inside...illegal. VAT is 20% Another 50% tax on a cup of tea...illegal. Then to top it off another 50p to have the privilege of sitting in there. Having a fkin laugh or what.

Had a lovely full English breakfast this morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was good! Will definitely go back again.

I went in this place should of walked out there was one person getting served and 3 women standing behind the counter they kept looking at me and then carried on talking I asked if one of them could help and one of them turned around said ere busy I said I'm in a bit of a rush but no I was just about to walk then thevwoman who was serving the bloke in front said can I help you but the others just stood there talking and the prices ate a joke no wonder it looks empty in there now won't be going back

Worst customer service. Been exactly 3 different times with different family members and it staff is downright rude and pretty racist too. Last time, my mum asked what one of their tarts was made out off and while the lady serving was trying to describe it, another lady comes up and says "don't bother with them". The single star goes to the food which is ok.

I've been waiting about half an hour for a take away breakfast wrap (minus the sausage and bacon with well done mushrooms). I have watched about 7 customers get a take away and leave, while another couple has had the time to sit down and eat there big fry ups before my wrap had even been started. I was told it would take 5-10 minutes, then when I asked 20 minutes later if my wrap was ready yet. I was told it would be 5 or 10 mins, again. ("2 minutes Turkish") I await for my order to continue my review. I hope the quality proves well in order for me to stretch to a 2 star review rather than a zero.. Finally my wrap arrived, there were no mushrooms in the wrap although I asked for well done mushrooms, and was still the same price with half the amount of fillings. When I mentioned my order was incorrect I was offered another one to be made, I did not have time to wait another 20 minutes on my Saturday afternoon. I was then offered a refund, of which I hesitantly accepted as I felt bad about it slightly.. I was then presented by the ladies palm out in front of me, and when I asked "what, do you want the wrap back?" she said yes either return and refund or keep it. I was shocked at the rudeness and never expected a cafe/sandwich bar to treat their customers like this.

Pastry on cake tasted like it had been cooked on a dirty / burnt baking tray. The sausage roll was sooo salty my tongue tingled. £4.80 for three pastry items - extravagant prices for the quality of the products. Sorry, but will not be back.

Poped in early one morning before a 8 hour shift grabbed a sausage roll from here and spent that hole 8 hour shift thinning I can’t wait to go back to that bakers hands down the best sausage roll I’ve ever had staff was happy and full off smiles

More of a deli than a bakery. Refused to sell bread rolls without filling

Mediocre, overpriced food and service without the hint of a smile. I can't think of one reason why I would drop in there ever again.

The staff are unfriendly especially the female owner, over priced for the quality of the food. I have never used a dine in service where you order at a counter. On the door there is a free wifi sign, when the owner was asked for the wifi code she stated in a rude manner that they have decided not to give it out to customers. My colleague and myself where very disappointed and as key workers we where shocked at the lack of social distancing and protection from COVID-19. My colleague and I will never be going back again to Gingers, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I hate to leave a bad review last time here I grabbed a cake and water and had no issues but dining in with my NHS care provider friend this time was totally opposite. I'll detail more as a point of learning, as I've co-owned and managed several food places and dine out almost daily. We were greeted by unfriendly staff, food overlypriced, poor managers, they were seen talking about customers, and one even ate in the customers area. Observed poor hygiene, no gloves, hair nets or tongs used, although waitress did wash her hands after giving my change in my hand, I used hand santisers provided immediately to disinfect myself. Also when asked about wifi, a blonde waitress said she chose not to have it (even though advertised bodly in the window). fair if she was the owner (had no hair net or gloves on). I'll explain more, immediately upon entering an empty appearance clean cafe, 4 staff all looking from kitchen area observing but no one came out for 5mins not even a hello will be there shortly. No one at the till area. Doesn't really matter tbh who knows what drama they had before our arrival but hey ho, is their business. No table service, ordered and I paid immediately. 2 burnt toast, a microwaved re-heated pastry and a english breakfast C swapped bacon for saussage, 2coffee's a kids orange juice. £13.75 £2.25 tip left. Staff and Management should perhaps take note and eat at competitors and understand the brilliant food quality /excellent customer service/price instead of taking out their missery and frustrations lockdown on local eat in/take out diners and gossip in earshot of customers. Should learn some manners, perhaps from Wong Kei's the best abusive restaurant in London. So funny getting vwrbal abuse/banter there. Will definately go back again and ask the local foodie group to visit and see if in time they improve. Wishing them all the best. Visted yesterday lunch time.

Best sausage rolls around, sandwiches and rolls are always lovely and fresh too. Highly recommend this lovely little bakers

Really enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced. I had a cheese cake, a cup of tea and vegan sausage roll all for £3.90. Pleasant staff, nice atmosphere. Will definitely go again by myself or with company.

Bought sausage turnover which had egg and bacon. It wasn't cooked properly, sausage and bacon were very much raw. And they were not cheap, £2.30 per one. I would never buy them again. I saw people having all-day breakfast and maybe it's ok, I don't know about them. My experience was bad. not to forget, staffs were polite but she didn't even use scissor tongs.

Great cafe nestled in Perry Street. Good food at good prices. No toilets though.

Staff are usually pleasant, have on a few occasions been spoken to very rudely and usually have ran out of a lot of food items.

Really lovely food and normally good customer service but this morning I was totally ignored by "Sheila" who setved everyone who came after me and people from the table's and 15 minutes later I still wasn't even given recognition so I walked out ..... I'm roughly disgusted as it doesn't take a second to say sorry love I'm busy be with you on a minute

Excellent for Gravesend. Really good quality food, really nice ingredients, and staff are friendly too. Nice quality and good portion sizes, so the price is good. My go to for greasy spoon food

Lovely cooked breakfast, do set meals as well as letting you choose what you want. Not too long a wait either. Clean also. Nice cup of tea!

Sausages were much bigger than anticipated.

The food (we had a breakfast)here is absolutely amazing all freshly cooked the staff are really friendly and helpfully ,they also do lovely fresh rolls/sandwiches and cakes please stop if you are passing there’s not many little cafes/bakery’s like this about anymore

Went in today (4/4/2018) at 12pm n got the last bit of bread pudding. Shared it with my mum but wished we had a piece each. It was so delicious,full of fruit n had just the right amount of spice in it. Must go in earlier next time!

I've just moved to the area and Gingers is really close to home, so we thought we'd give it a try for lunch. It has a great cafe menu. Loads of sandwich options, fried breakfasts, jacket spuds, omelettes and more, all at very reasonable prices. Lunch for 3 people with 3 cold drinks was £13. Very much a local caff, it was really nice and we'll definitely be back.

The best coffee in town, freshly made sandwiches, and a very good choice of breakfasts. I couldn't want anymore than that.

Friendly service and a great breakfast dish served all day. Nice for kids too unfortunately no toilets. The bar next door lets you use their toilet.

Has a massive selection of food; rolls/sandwiches/french stick, fried food, baked potatoes and pasties. Very friendly staff, very clean and good for sitting down or take away. Also the best Cornish pastie I've ever had, never had better (granted I've never been to Cornwall).

También puede sentar para frituras que es genial. Recién hecho sándwiches o bocadillos y con una gran variedad de rellenos, gran pasteles. . . pan fresco y bebidas calientes y frías. . . Sopa. ir. Gran lugar para un aperitivo o alimentar bien.

Buena buena calidad del desayuno, pero el tocino debe ser preparado un poco más si tiene grasa. Pan excelente mejor pan que he tenido en un café. Señoras. Periódicos para leer, que no es realmente hecho más hizo un cambio agradable. Sin duda, comer aquí. Bien hecho.

A decent fry up but took over an hour for a couple of breakfasts and coffees and ended up rushing it and so didn't enjoy what was a good quality plate far better than along the road but not as speedy

On the first visit I was reluctant to try anything else so I went for a simple latte. what I received was a watery version which tasted like an instant coffee with a little bit of milk on top. To be fair it is a bakery!

The restaurant area was clean . I had the lowest priced full breakfast which was good value.T,coffee fine. The staff would benefit for a course in people skills, perhaps it was the early morning blues who knows. However the cafe is what it is and I would certainly use it again.

if I cant make it to the café on the prom this is my next favourite far better than perry café evenm though perry café good it still sells cheap bacon and sausages and hate that gingers a bit more quality that's all

Cannot fault Gingers for the quality of their food. If my score was based on food they would have a 5. If it was based on service it would be a 0. I regularly go there, and every time I leave feeling appalled at the lack of customer service. Seriously would advice some training, because if that was my business I would be embarrassed by the staff.

Went to Gingers Bakery for an impromptu breakfast. It was huge & I didn't have the biggest one! All freshly cooked and hand cut toast from lovely fresh bread. The menu is wide with loads of different sandwiches, baguettes etc. price was good too.

Fab breakfast visit here often, great service, always busy and not bad prices either, food is always fresh, good selection to choose from !!

Use this cafe/bakery quite regulary and always find the meals great value for your money. the coffee is lovely and their sausage rolls are perfect. Sandwiches are made to order and they don't scrimp on the fillings.

Very nice food but service is very slow and poor.the staff don't seem to like there jobs ... Cheer up ! .. make an effort !!

We stopped in here for a quick lunch yesterday, ahead of a family function at a pub nearby.Three of us just had rolls, whilst my son had a vegetarian breakfast - all were hearty and tasty, made fresh to order.All quite pleasant and fitting for the occasion.
