Found it by accident in our way home and its a gem for a Sunday roast and reasonably priced ...highly.recommended.

We had Lunch there for the first time with our friends, we were welcome well and the the the table we had was just right . The food was really lovey and nice and hot. we all enjoyed it We will go again. And i was shown an easier way out as I use a stick and cannot do steps Thank you

My friend & I went for lunch to celebrate our birthdays. Food excellent, service excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Lovely pub and staff, however overpriced food which was extremely poor quality. Ate here previously and hoped it had improved, sadly not the case.

Great friendly staff, wonderful service and great food, had beef burger with cheese, and chips.. the burger was delish like a steak had been minced up just for the burger certainly recommend

On arrival impressed with the cleanliness and friendly waitress. We were in the main dining room and were aware several tables were waiting for food. Drinks arrived promptly and then we ordered for 3 people. Only had a main each but the wait was 1 hour 10 mins for two roasts and prawn sizzler. Two other tables were waiting too so obviously a problem in the kitchen. The waitress was efficient and doing her best but also dealing with customers in the beer garden so definitely rushed off her feet. When the food arrived it was good quality and nicely presented but the wait was unacceptable and no complimentary drinks offered during the long wait. We were there to try and sort out a venue for 20+ people for a 90th birthday bash early next year but the long wait for food etc. unfortunately meant they have missed out on a large booking for January 2025 as we could not take the chance on this happening again. Just hope they sort out the kitchen problems soon.

Traditional pub. Has beer garden with separate smoking and non smoking areas. Dog friendly.

Went there 2 night after my nan funeral there was a few off us and owner is so rude way he was talking to us then started on someone with autism who did not do anything in front off everyone. Never meet someone so rude . Can see why got so many new staff no way place going do well with him runing it .we know lot group 30 people drink every week now going know what happened no way go back and spend lot there . Owner needs anger management groups. He should not own that pub at all someone better should have it

We sat outside for lunch and the service at the bar and in the garden was friendly and quick. The food was all excellent and plenty of it. Excellent all round.

Very nice pub very friendly and helpful staff 👌 great selection of beers and wine. Car park and outside seating area with ample space for a large crowd We used this as a Thursday night stop off after our club ride Gravesend CTC.

We found this little gem of a pub by accident! They accommodated our party of 16 within 3 minutes of arrival. The food and service were absolutely 5 star. 16 meals all came out together piping hot. We all left happy and full to the brim. Highly recommend.

Went here for a roast dinner and it was lovely. Staff friendly and polite,they were very helpful, good service and a very nice roast, apple pie and Custard. Thank you.

The service and Food at The Rose and Crown were both excellent. My son said it was great to finally have a decent burger! The homemade Lasagne is throughly recommended by my older son and his Dad!

We held my father’s wake at the Rose & Crown for 40 ish guests and it was perfect. The food buffet was great catering for all ages all diets and was more than enough to go round. One table of savoury and one of sweet treats. There’s easy disabled access and the service was excellent. Thank you!

Booked Sunday lunch, thought we would eat in the restaurant but was disappointed to find we were eating in the pub, starters was OK but mains was something else, we ordered roast. The potatoes were only roasted one side and we had one small bowl of vegetables between three of us, enough cabbage to feed a tiny mouse the broccoli was yellow, we have eaten there years before and it was gorgeous. Won't be going back

Lovely pub in a lovely setting, nice traditional ambiance and very helpful, polite and friendly staff. However, the food wasn't great to say the least. My steak was cooked okay but the peppercorn sauce was watery and tasteless the chips overdone and also the onion rings. My father's beef and beer pie was watery and tasteless and accompanied by a bowl of over cooked veg. Such a shame as like I say, the pub itself, the setting and the staff were all great. You need to have a word with your chef guys.

Great pub, great food and lovely friendly staff. I'm visiting the area with my dogs and I called to double check they were allowed. We were made to feel very welcome. The food was great, really good quality and good value too. We were well looked after, I'd visit again.

Popped in this afternoon for some dessert and some drinks. Great selection of puddings, and really enjoyed the ones we picked. The wine is nice and cold! Staff are super friendly and make you feel very welcome. We will return for sure !

Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate our granddaughter's birthday. Took the dog, who enjoyed a bit of everyone's food. They arranged a table for the 8 of us. The food was great and the welcome very warm. The only thing is the car park is a bit small for the numbers that have found this marvelous place.

Took the dog for a walk in a local country park and needed lunch. Found this delightful pub. Very family and dog friendly. The food is great, freshly cooked and locally sourced. So welcoming we will be returning.

Beautiful characterful venue, friendly staff, good food. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were accommodating when we said we hadn’t booked. Good quality food, was impressed how quickly it came out, even though they were busy. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Really great lunch, very accommodating, myself, wife and 2 young kids. Couldn't fault the service. Was concerned it might be, "a local pub for local people" and we'd feel unwelcome, but it was so far from that! All staff were so welcoming, food was fab and all reasonably priced! Will definitely return!

It's many years since I'd visited this pub, but we'd driven past quite a lot lately, so decided to drop in for lunch. There was a very friendly greeting, and we were offered the choice of outside, or in the restaurant (we opted for the latter). Service was prompt, and the drinks came quickly, but we were surprised how long the food was coming. That was because it was all (except the meat in my friend's beef and beer pie, apparently braised for six hours) cooked from scratch, and it was well worth the wait. Her beef, she said, melted in her mouth, and it had the most gorgeous puff pastry crust. My Hunter's chicken was also excellent. My one complaint (!) was that neither of us could quite finish the food, and we had no room for a dessert! We'll be going again.

What can I say. Fantastic welcome. Amazing service. Food was absolutely delicious (compliments to the chef). We had 3 roast dinners (lamb) and The Rose & Crown burger. This is a beautiful pub in the most beautiful surroundings. We will most definitely come back (and soon).

What a fabulous find! Booking a table for Sunday lunch for 7 people and a dog can be extremely difficult but they made it so easy, combining tables for us in the snug. Service was fabulous, food excellent and we’ll definitely be back!

I like the rose and crown. It's a good size pub overall, in a good position in the village. There's a good sized car park, and a reasonable sized beer garden too. Friendly staff ensured the right orders were prepared. Although we didn't eat food on this occasion, I'm aware that they serve an array of honest pub food.

Must be a change in staff or something, as my mum has enjoyed going every Tuesday for a late lunch, but last Tuesday she was spoken to so rudely she didn't even finish her food and left in almost tears, she's 80 yes old and 4foot 10in, I'm so angry, I wish I lived closer, but unfortunately I don't.

We live in the village and this is the second time we have eaten here in a couple of months. The first time my husband had fish pie which was so dry he could not eat it. We were not charged for his meal. Today we went for dinner after a day out for my husbands birthday. He chose the ribeye steak which was awful. Very grisly. They need to find a better butcher. We will not be returning which is a shame as it is so convenient as we only live 5 minutes walk away.

Had dinner there 3 weeks ago, the fish pie lacked fish and was so dry it was not edible. In fairness they did not charge me. As I live so local and would use it regularly if okay, I thought I would give it another try. Had ribeye steak tonight - it was awful ! Will not be returning. Feel sorry for the young female staff who were charming having to serve up such poor food. I should add that my wife thought the lasagne okay so 2 stars rather than none.

We held the reception after my father’s funeral at the Rose & Crown. It was well organised and well catered for. Paul did a great job beforehand in communicating with us and ensuring our guests were looked after. You never know how many people will show for a wake, and in spite more people coming than was anticipated, there was no shortage of food. Thanks for helping us give our dad a great send off!

This was one of my favourite pubs ,great beers and especially the food was fantastic, earlier in the year I visited and the food seemed to of taken a turn for the worst , but it could of been a glitch so I payed another visit in June , the food was shocking absolutely shocking , I wont even go into what was wrong the whole plate was , sorry guys I use to love your food ,but if you have changed your chef you need to replace him , I will come back at the end of the year to see if you have taken this onboard and fixed it before you go under, Peace out

I celebrated my daughters 1st Communion here with 15 guests. The food was very good, service excellent. Highly recomended.

Have just enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends in The Rose and Crown, a pleasant, traditional pub restaurant. The lunchtime menu had a good choice of meals including jacket potatoes and baguettes. The portion sizes were huge and all of our meals were well cooked and reasonably priced. The list of desserts was equally varied. We were unhurried and service was attentive.

Dreadful inedible chicken for lunch. Men's toilets were overflowing. Generally in need of a good clean. Best avoided.

Rather disappointing having not been to this venue for food for along time. Popped in, extremely unfriendly manager. Very rude to his staff. Food/menu very disappointing needs more variety also very pricey for the quality of the food. I was very disappointed to hear the tone the gentleman i can only assume was the manager spoke to the 2 ladys in a very rude way which wasnt nice to hear as a customer. I will not be returning

Very nice friendly pub with good quality bitter and food. However, having paid cash for my first round I was very disappointed to find it on my bill, (which I didn't check when paying my tab). Had a quick glance when I went to throw it away when I got home. Done for six quid!

What an absolute treasure this place is. Going out for Sunday lunch we were let down by a previous booking and came across The Rose and Crown at Shorne. Warm friendly staff. Wonderful characterful pub. The BEST roast beef dinner. Just about had room for puddding so delicious. Definitely recommend.

Friendly and helpful staff and a simple but delicious bufet for our private function. Especialy a constant streem of fresh hot chips. Great.

Very nice pub, beams, fireplace and all that other cosy stuff. The two young men serving when we visited were very good. Attentive, cheerful and polite. The food was great, very simple traditional pub food. According to my wife the wine was nice and so was my draft beer. Would definitely go again

I would have given it no stars if it was possible. Pity it's not a pub anymore, especially when you look back and it was then thriving. Completely lost it's way. No atmosphere. Table service only. No drinking at the bar. Basically, no drinkers at all in the pub as they've all had to move out. A pub always needs it's drinkers to make lots of money. Horrible and very disappointing.

Okay, find it a bit on the expensive side. Asked for sandwiches but only got offered baguettes (plus chips and salad) at nearly £9.00. Then saw later customers having sandwiches. Asked for pale ale, told only had it in bottles, then after being served saw they did have it on tap (maybe it had run out?). Pleasant enough sitting outside, parking at a premium though.

After remembering a lovely meal we had years ago we decided to treat ourselves to lunch here. I chose mushroom stroganoff which was about 12 mushroom quarters floating around in some tasteless thick gravy with enough rice for a family of 4. Even my lager was not very cold. Possibly a warm glass. My husband asked for white bait as a main course which they did do. The whitebait was overcooked and dry with far too much bread. No tartare sauce or anything. The girls were pleasant but food awful. Will not return.

What an excellent friendly proper pub. Lovely food at a very reasonable price, good selection of drinks. Very friendly and helpful staff. Made to feel welcome. This pub clearly plays an important part in the local community. I just wish it was 200 yards not 200 miles from home

Nice pub meal and reasonably priced

I am not one for writing reviews but I thought on this occasion I needed to. Taking your Mum out for dinner is sometimes quite stressful especially when the food is not up to standard. However on this occasion it was the complete reverse the food was outstanding and beer was terrific, anyone visiting this pub will not be disappointed. The atmosphere was very friendly and the landlord ensured that you had everything you needed, nothing want too much trouble. I will confess that I am quite fussy when it comes to food & drink but I could not fault a thing. Thank you for a terrific meal, we will be back. Mike A

Exceptional service and very good food. Paul, John and the team provided an afternoon of attentive service to the guests and the food provided was over and above what was expected. We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. So very pleased that our original venue choice didn’t happen. Will return in July for another smaller gathering. Don’t hesitate if you are wondering about the quality of food or standard of service here. Our family were all very complimentary about the food being offered.

the roast dinner was poor quality and not worth the amount charged the meat was too thin and poor quality

I expect to eat my dinner off a plate NOT a soup bowl. Had eaten here half a dozen times and always loved the liver and bacon but NOT tonight, that's the last time they will see me.

Had visited on several occasions with family and friends and usually always gone for the liver and bacon on a bed of mashed potatoes and gravey like today, but what a difference this time !! Firstly it was served up in a DESSERT/SOUP BOWL! hardly any liver, a spoon full of gravey and about half the usually amount of mashed potatoes, very very disappointing and we had taken 4 friends with us as we had spoken very highly about this place to them, they even commented on how long we all had to wait for our food aswell! They just wanted to sell us more drinks we all thought, don't know what's happened to the place but we will NOT BE GOING BACK, shame really but that's what happens when you fall short.

A quick visit on a long dog walk, initially for refreshment but turned into ordering multiple sides including chips, onion rings, mushrooms. We were made very welcome as were our dogs, they had dog treats on hand at the special bar they’d made in the garden. Service was excellent, the place was really looked after. Food was very good, with the slight exception of the chips, which were very slightly undercooked, but still a very enjoyable visit and will be coming back when we can.

Wonderful, friendly atmosphere, together with really friendly staff and a really tasty and well prepared steak and mushroom pie with seasonal vegetables, followed by a huge portion of delicious apple crumble and custard. A really enjoyable afternoon spent with wonderful company. Thank you to everyone who made this visit a truly memorable one. I will definitely go there again.

Excellent local pub with great food. Stopped here on our Ito Canterbury this pub is well worth a visit. Very warm welcome great menus and the food is 1st class with great portion sizes trust me you won't go hungry!!! 1st class service and really good quality food can't beat this type of pub great atmosphere
