I usually come here and so was shell-shocked with the fish and chips. This time it looked, smelt, and tasted frozen. Which in fact leads to the conclusion that it was frozen and not in a good way. Of course they say on the menu that it is fresh, but they should add a footnote saying fresh from the freezer or freshly frozen. I didn't want to raise it with the team then as there was no immediate remedy ie I did not want another frozen fish on my plate. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewers, some of the staff do look tired and bored. It's as if they've just come back from a funeral. So it's not a pleasant dining experience. In fact, it's so draining that I felt a good lie down afterwards was in order. Overall, I won't be returning in a hurry, I will go instead to the sister restaurant at Bridgemere which is far far far better

We have been here a few times as there aren’t a huge number of “non themed” restaurants and sometimes if you want the more unusual things in life (not eating waffles for lunch and possibly somewhere to sit whilst eating), you too might find yourself choosing off one of the sticky menus here. That is, if you manage to get a seat, you’ll then be treated to bored, inefficient or just plain indolent staff, semi-warm food, dirty cutlery, cold coffee, dirty floors and a reassuringly expensive price tag. Best alternative would be to bring a picnic or a leather strap to chew on

Come for a full English on the next stop of my tour and ended up having the Eggs Benedict as the breakfast order close at 11:30 an I was ordering at 11:25. This meant I’d have ended up with the last of the dried bacon and at £11:95 for full English it put me off a touch. The eggs Benedict was reasonable tbf and I did enjoy it. The restaurant on a whole is nice, very spacious and service was quick. Thoroughly enjoyed a latte whilst watching the world go by with my wife.

I have been to this Garden restaurant many times over the years, and it has changed considerably. The girl on the till had trouble taking my order. The waitress we had, just threw our food and drinks on the table, no conversation at all. When I asked where my clotted cream was for my cream tea, she shoved the receipt in my face and said that I had not ordered any, when I clearly asked for butter, cream and jam. My Husband then had to queue back at the till to pay for the cream, which was then bought to me by the same waitress and just threw on the table. I think the management need to teach their staff the art of manners and conversation! My scone was very stale, and after all the problems, it was not worth complaining. It was supposed to be a fruit scone, but there was hardly any fruit at all. I only ate a quarter of it as it was the worst scone I have had.

I’m an old single man who always spends Christmas with my faithful dogs. Every year for many years my treat is to go to Trentham for a 3 course Christmas meal while I’m doing some special shopping. This year I specifically emailed to ask if they had started serving their Christmas meal. I received an immediate courteous reply from the restaurant manager confirming that they had and the days they were serving. I arranged to have the day off work and set about my special day. I was completely disappointed that there was no set Christmas dinner as in previous years. I settled for the normal beef dinner, which when delivered was cold but very nice. No horseradish sauce to be seen. The lady who took my order was very courteous, and explained what their Christmas menu was, a fancy turkey bap. No Christmas pudding. The table wasn’t cleared from whoever sat there previously, not even when my food was delivered. Several staff appeared to be standing around gossiping. The tea was like cats pee, so weak. How standards have dropped yet prices have shot up. Such a disappointing experience

So yesterday we went to this restaurant, just to have a coffee with my husband and my child wanted a Coke. Went to the till to make the purchase first question asked was what table are you on,so I replied with the number. Sat down waited for our drinks,we waited and waited they where busy but for 3 drinks didn't think it would be over 20 minutes. So I went to find out what was going on,they stated that it wasn't placed I had the receipt that told me otherwise. They said that they had walked around with the order but I was on the lookout they definitely didn't look for us. They said they will sort it. No apology. Again we waited another 10 mins and nothing AGAIN So again went to the counter and asked for a refund they said that it was ready and It was to late we have waited now over 30mins for 3 drinks. Went to get a refund from the till had the refund yet again NO APOLOGY. My husband was waiting with my son and heard a man and lady talking about my refund. He started just give her the refund and GET HER OUT OF HERE !!!! My husband went to the lady and asked what did that man say. Was he the manager. He was,she totally denied that the comment was about me and said that it was about the lady who sorted my refund. One question why would you say that about one of your employee's. You wouldn't so another lie. Definitely will never go to this place again. Absolutely shocking service

Stopped for lunch. Up end of restaurant near external doors, which were opened because staff were hot. Caused a very significant and uncomfortable draft, so as restaurant emptied, we moved. Cutlery and glassware not clean - like hadn't been washed well plus needed fresh rinsing water. Put me off somewhat, and wonder what kitchen hygiene is like. Food very good and filling. Not cheap, but reasonably priced for what we had.

Not very impressed. Ordered teas and scones, one teabag in a large pot so was really weak - jam and cream are NOT included with a scone as had to pay for this separately. So scone was literally just served with a packet of butter. Never had that before anywhere! Scone was dry as the desert, so seemed to have been sat out for a long time. Not impressed

Reunion with friends so didn’t feel I could complain. I ordered a flat white, it was weak and watery, clearly not a good quality coffee, I then ordered tea, it was tasteless and weak clearly, cheap tea bags, I then ordered a bacon cob with well done bacon, half was ok, half was barely cooked. Far better quality restaurants nearby especially the Italian next door.

Took my 91 year Auntie for a ☕️ Tea. It is a lovely place to visit.as she doesn't get out much it was a treat. There was a young man who I have been served by many times he is ALWAYS so helpful ,polite and efficient. Unfortunately the music was so loud and a banging beat I could not hear my Auntie speaking. It was disappointing as this seems to be a theme in various places. The young man dealt with it immediately. Music as in background is sometimes good for atmosphere, when a restaurant or similar places are quiet, BUT when it is full it is necessary to adjust volume so that conversations can be heard easily 🤔. A group of us from a nearby Visitor Centre meet fairly regular there. I can recommend the English Breakfast 👌. Lovely staff all round shops.

We have visited on quite a few Tuesdays, and decide for once to try the Sundae instead of our regular small breakfast. It looked impressive. It tasted good. I thought I had made a healthy choice, so was surprised to find out it had more calories than a normal small breakfast. However full marks for stating the calories. We ordered toasted teacakes to follow. They came first, which was a bit of a let down. As usual it was all quite competent, though maybe a bit flat. We go often enough as it is convenient, and usually satisfactory.

From my experience (4/7/20) be very careful when visiting the 6 Arches restaurant. The staff were very professional and committed to customer support. Excellent. However, the manager was a very different kettle of fish. I spoke to the manager and asked if I could please make a suggestion relating to an existing area of covid-19 cleanliness. The back and seat of a chair were being cleaned after use, nevertheless, the area of the chair where customers placed their hands (usually bare hands) to pull their chair up to the table was not being cleaned. This meant a customer’s hand was touching the same area where a previous customer’s hand had touched. Skin to chair followed by chair to skin with no cleaning. Absolutely unacceptable, especially in the present times. I tried to make a suggestion and point this out to the very experienced manager who failed to comment on rectifying the area of covid-19 transmission in his restaurant, instead he chose to tell me “it’s the first day, we are doing our best, were bound to get things wrong”. Customer feedback met with zero acceptance.

Today I visited the ‘Six Arches’ after a very pleasant walk around Trentham Lake with my daughter. She chose a jacket potato with prawns which was pretty uninteresting but acceptable. I decided to have a cheese and tomato toastie with salad, which interestingly was the same price as a ham and tomato toastie. The bread was barely toasted and was still white and the cheese inside was hardly melted. I asked for the sandwich to be toasted more. A very disgruntled waitress returned it some while later saying ‘Here you go!’ as she she slammed it on the table. The bread was a little more toasted but the tomatoes inside were rock hard and still uncooked. The interior was soggy and in fact inedible. How difficult is it to produce a toastie? The restaurant was not busy at the time. We shall not return.

I grew in and around Trentham Gardens and have a real soft spot for it. I was delighted when it was rescued from its decay 20 years ago or so and now its a great place to visit. Living out the area, I visited family this weekend and took my aged parents to the Six Arches Restaurant/Cafe for lunch. What an awful mistake!! Had their mobility not been so limited, I would have turned round and walked out! The organisation is woeful; I remember when this place opened no-one seemed to know what they were doing and all these years later it still seems as bad! The 'flow' through the self-service is badly thought out, we ordered drinks at the counter and the server got them out of the fridge and just left them on the top with metal caps still on. We had to wait for another server to come back and take the tops off! Then trying to balance four large plates and four drinks bottles on the most slippery trays ever was going to be a recipe for disaster, so I took the drinks over to our table much to the consternation of the cashier! Then having queue with said trays at the cash desk with no-where to rest your tray until you are eventually at the till is bonkers!!!! 4 sandwich/rolls and 4 drinks was £30 which in my view isn't cheap!! The prawn rolls were tasteless (well actually they tasted on chemicals), the coronation chicken was an odd colour and wasn't particularly nice, the egg mayo/salad roll was probably the only one which seemed nice but my mother said she hadn't enjoyed it. Although I can't categorically say it was the cause, I then developed a very upset stomach later in the day and can't help but think it was the chemically tainted prawn roll. The garden centre is lovely but its a magnet for people wanting to be parted of their money and this cafe follows suit! Everything was very over-priced, including having to pay 75p for a miniature jar of strawberry jam - what a rip off! Plenty of other places around......go chose somewhere more decent; you won't be hard pressed to find somewhere much worse!!!

Four of us visited Trentham Six Arches cafe on Tuesday 27th August and our toasties were all dry and looked particularly sad with a few salad leaves and a bit of carrot plus the crisps were all soft and tasteless. We also felt that £7.95 for a toastie was very expensive. On the plus side, they said that they had no roast beef for my choice of toastie but another young server said that she would go over to the delicatessen and get some. Quite enterprising for a member of staff to do this these days.

We visited Trentham Estate yesterday and called in The Six Arches for lunch. We all chose the mushroom wellington served with a jug of tomato sauce and vegetables of the day. I have to say, it's one of the nicest vegetarian meals we've had in a long while. Hats off to the menu planners and chefs who have given us poor vegetarians something more appealing (with different tastes and textures) than a one pot meal such as risotto or a bowl of pasta. We often get a raw deal, and what we want is something that is similar to what everybody else gets but without the meat, such as a proper dinner. Everything was beautifully cooked with a generous portion and left us feeling very satisfied indeed. We will be returning very soon based on our experience yesterday. Thank you!

The food is great value and they take a pride in what they present, two different roasts were on offer plus other dishes, also the portion size is very large, so no hungry people leave the restaurant. There is a great choice which is rotated on a daily basis. The girls working behind and in front of house are all very helpful and give good customer service.

This will be my last visit here! My family ( 2 adults, 2 children) visited here for lunch. From ordering to delivery this was the worst experience I have had in quite some time. On ordering, the person behind the counter insisted on ordering one item at a time, rather than taking the full list and asking if there was anything else, disappearing back into the kitchen, then awaiting the next item. Two of the 4 items we wanted were not available, but there was no sign to say this. And in the end the order was taken incorrectly.

We visited for lunch before spending the afternoon walking around Trentham Gardens. There is a good choice in this self-service restaurant (main meals, deli counter, soup, jacket potatoes, cakes, etc.). We were served by a friendly, helpful person who provided good advice on the available options. The portion sizes were good and in prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. The restaurant was quite busy at the time we visited which was shortly after midday.

I always come to the 6 arch’s restaurant normally for a carvery and a cake, it’s always lovely and always lots to choose from. On this occasion I visited with my family. We all chose from the cake counter along with tea and coffee. The homemade selection was packed full of mouthwatering items, we chose fresh raspberry custard tart, strawberry insurgence slice, chocolate and orange ganache tart and hazelnut roulade. All very sweet but delicious. Will be returning soon to sample the macaroons my dad saw

Visited here for the first time today with my 80 year old mum. The garden centre was lovely but lunch not so. The girl at the counter, who served us, was rude and impatient and very intolerant which was absolutely unacceptable. The food was mediocre, watery quiche and cous cous. I won’t waste £20 there again.

We have just had lunch ...i decided on a prawn cocktail ...you could have counted how many prawns there were, if you could have seen them ....they were so small ...I see bags of these cheap value prawns at the supermarket and avoid ...the Marie Rose sauce was thin and tasteless...even the brown bread which was included in the extortionate price was flavorless and cardboardy ..a completely disappointing experience

Popped here on Sunday as I'm recovering from knee surgery and wanted to get out for an hour. Planned on a snack and a coffee but turns out they do carvery on a Sunday. Food was plentiful and for two adults and two children we spend around £30. Really good lunch but moreover really helpful lady (sorry I didn't get her name) who helped carry our trays as I was hobbling around on crutches.

We used to go here at least once a week but have not been now for sometime. The quality of the food has been slipping for a while but the last straw was the newer members of staff being so rude. We asked to have a burst egg changed on breakfast and was asked why. Eventually changed but our complaint discussed at length between the staff. The crockery is beginning to show its age and needs replacing, maybe with local products next time. The layout is totally wrong with staff wandering around between toaster coffee and eggs. Needs a manager on the front to organise things, preferably one who knows what they are doing. We won't be going again as Totally Delicious is much better food and well organised.

Had breakfast here on 27 Dec at 10.15, and on 28 Dec at 8. 30. Both good value with a round of toast, pot of tea and 5 items from a selection of egg, sausage, bacon, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread, black pudding and hash brown.

Inattentive staff and run out of basic sandwiches by 12.30pm. Very poor service but still pricey. Had better experiences here but it's not even that busy.

We were there for a birthday treat and to do some shopping. Started with coffee and soft drinks. The prices were daylight robbery! especially the £3 bottle of coke. The food came and was mediocre to say the least. Crusty and cold veg only the much maligned sprout had any distinguishable flavour. By the time you were half way through it was all cold. Lucky me had the salmon not the roast but they veg was poor again.

We attended with our young granddaughter. We visited on a Friday, we had returned from a holiday abroad and wanted a roast dinner. We found that a Christmas lunch was available. We were looking forward to a tasty meal- unfortunately, we were disappointed. The food was quite bland. Our granddaughter loves a roast dinner usually, she refused to eat anymore after he first mouthful.

We visited this place to have a look at the Christmas trees etc. They also have a nice café where you can get a good quality reasonably priced meal or a coffee , cake etc. good experience, tad pricy in the store though.

Met friends for coffee in the garden centre. Lovely pot of tea in pleasant surroundings. It does get very busy during the day and especially at weekends. Lovely selection of gifts etc and we often get our plants in the spring for our allotment, We call here regularly throughout the year.

4 of us went for lunch here a few weeks ago, 2 of us had pork belly, and 2 had carvery, we had to take the pork belly back as one of them was all fat and no meat,(I love fat on meat but there has to be a bit of meat!), the other was so tough you couldn't cut it. The veg on the carvery was very under cooked, the carrots and parsnips were raw, the roast pork was dry and tough. It was an awful meal and we will not go again.

Called in for a light lunch whilst here shopping. Plenty to choose from but we selected a sandwich to keep it light. Good range of choices of fillings, we had pulled pork which was ok but not as tasty as we had expected. Overall not a bad experience, I would probably go again but make a different choice.

We only wanted something light for lunch as we’d had a large breakfast in our hotel and the bowl of light spiced carrot soup, served with a chunk of very nice whole meal did the job perfectly. Service was quick and efficient and the young man behind the counter thoughtfully cooled down the glasses which had just come from the dishwasher so that our cold drinks did not turn into lukewarm drinks - a nice touch!

I come here atleast twice a week with my friend June. We always sit outside on the terrace with either a couple of lattes or something lovely from the deli section. I would 100% recommend six arches to anyone who enjoys a quality roast or just spending time with friends.

Can't explain how bad it was. At least 15mins to place my order. Waited half an hour for my order by time my order came I had drank my tea. Only ordered a toasted teacake and kids meal. It wasn't even what you would call busy loads of spare table. My grandson fell asleep waiting for his after saying wheres my dinner so slow.
