The Singing Kettle in Scarborough

Good old fashioned traditional Yorkshire Cafe. Enjoyable hot breakfast & tea cooked fresh to order . Negative, would have preferred butter on toast instead of magarine.

We were self-catering in Whitby and the Singing Kettle was recommended to us by a sales assistant in the Mountain Warehouse. You'd expect someone selling outdoors clothing etc to know what they're talking about re breakfast and oh boy was he right!! We ended up having breakfast there for 3 days running. The cafe reminded me of ones my parents used to take us 6 children to in London back in the 1960s. Unpretentious, hard working staff, fabulous food and reasonable prices. My partner had the full English each day, I had a sausage and bacon roll and we were both satisfied right through to the evening. These both came with a thick slice of bread and butter which was a nice and unexpected extra. My highlight was the fried bread - mmmm! Again it took me back to my childhood when Mum would make it for Dad and I'd snaffle a mouthful. I wasn't sure that they'd make it but shouldn't have worried. We asked and my wish was granted. The only downside for me was that half a sausage escaped from my roll and bounced off my leg onto the floor before I could catch it. Not the cafe's fault - I wasn't holding onto it tight enough. They did supply a knife and fork but I went old school holding it with both hands. We can't speak highly enough of the Singing Kettle and are already looking forward to returning :-)

I was staying next door in the Wetherspoons hotel but ate here. The full English for £8 including toast, bread and butter and a mug of tea was excellent and kept me going all day. Friendly staff, clean and food freshly cooked. What more could you ask for? Note: it’s cash only.

A friendly welcome to a proper cafe. The breakfast was lovely and reasonably priced. We love the fact that the menu has no pretentious items such as "flat white" or "Americano" and could just simply order a coffee. We highly recommend this place if you enjoy good food and a friendly atmosphere. 10/10

Went twice during our stay in Whitby, and had Sausage, bacon and egg rolls to take away. They were such good value, with good quality ingredients, including a piece of toast. We will definitely visit again when in Whitby. Staff really friendly also. The place is really busy with queues all morning.

Best bacon sandwiches to take away. The bacon is right thickness and cooked perfectly.. we ate them on the harbour benches. Loved the quality and the staff were excellent

Such a lovely breakfast and plenty of it all for £8.00, dog friendly which is a bonus for us, staff are very pleasant but very busy too. One of the best cup o tea too not wishy washy just perfect 👌 so if u want a fantastic breakfast or other food and don't mind queuing for a little while (roughly 5/10mins) then take a visit to this little place.....ENJOY

Hear a lot about this place being best for brekky in Whitby so gave it a go. Only a few mins wait at door for a table to come available. On entry you could feel the heat from the food prep side which is literally in the same room so it was a bit warm. £8 for a full English with a hot drink 1 toast and 1 bread cracking value, extras of black pudding and hashbrowns available at extra cost...food piping hot and not a long wait considering it was full. Good quality simple brekky scran. Only advice I would give is if ya want ya toast or bread without lashes of marg on, ask on ordering. This is the only thing my wife asked me to point out in review. Cash only cafe.

My wife and I came here on a recommendation from a local you tuber.Simply Whitby tv Hidden away in angel yard is this hidden gem of a cafe. Firstly it can get busy so get here early or be prepared to wait a bit. We both had the full English breakfast I have to say it’s the best I’ve ever had from a cafe, huge plate of food for less than £10 for a breakfast. Excellent value for money lovely staff and dog friendly too. The breakfast kept us going till tea time will definitely return on our next visit to Whitby.

Tucked away down a side street, proper old style cafe which opens early. Fab tasting big breakfast, amazing price, friendly staff and doggie friendly, what's not to love!!

This is a great gem of a lace…prices,food ,portions and atmosphere. Superb value . Great food.great menu . Clean and friendly . Forget the rest this is the best!!!! We only use this place for breakfast ,tryed a few places over the time …but no this is the best in Whitby. Homely friendly and a proper mug of tea!

down the alley next to The Wetherspoons Angel Inn,this is a great find.It opens earlier than other cafes in Whitby, and serves great breakfast food.Used by locals as well as tourists,always a good sign.I went in twice.The first time I had the full english ,which is a very hearty meal, and I had to admit defeat.No hash browns, or black pudding, but can be added for 50p each.second time, a great bacon roll with mushrooms which came with free toast as wellit is small so might be busy, but friendly staff and you will be glad you found it.

Absolutely value for money ! Portions are big and very generous of everything on the menu! Clean,friendly and certainly superb value . This is an excellent cafe that opens early morning which I like being an early riser. I had an excellent bacon roll which also came with a slice of toast. Cafe is cash only so be aware.

Absolutely fantastic all round! Typical style full English, great value for money and never leave feeling gross like some full English’s leave you after too much greasy food. Visit here every time I come to Whitby and always look forward to it!

This has got to be the best breakfast in Whitby! Every time we stay over we head for the place for breakfast. Nothing too much for the staff who meet our dietary/fussy needs All breakfast items are top quality and cooked to perfection!! Friendly staff and a warm welcome await My wife says the cup of tea is the hottest and best she has ever had! We recommend to everyone we know who is coming to Whitby We usually stay at Wetherspoons next door but head to the cafe for an amazing breakfast

Exceptional no nonsense cafe in popular Yorkshire resort. Good value food and piping hot with quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

Superb value for money -very prompt service, nice full English Breakfast perfectly cooked with good portions. 3 slices of bread per person was a bit much for us The only downside was the open kitchen meant the cafe was a bit smokey - but a good experience overall.

Great little cafe, was recommended by the tourist information on the car park. Great prices Great value for money and delicious food. Very popular, maybe a small wait for a table but worth the wait. Friendly staff, who cook a mighty fine breakfast and make a decent cuppa tea!! 😉 We will be back, thank you. Went to whitby for a 3 day trip stayed just outside of town and saw recommendations for singing kettle and decided to give them a try breakfast was good. Really good value for money staff were friendly and dog friendly extras aren't on the menu but you can ask for extra bacon, sausage etc. Black pudding with lovely too and even though you only get 1 sausage with the breakfast it was great went back the next day for breakfast again. Ask for an extra sausage it's worth it haha

Fantastic English breakfast, great ingredients and perfectly cooked. £7 for a Full English including a cup of tea, bread and butter. One of the best I have had anywhere. My wife decided to have the steak pie and chips for breakfast which wasn’t a problem. She said it was the nicest steak pie she has ever had. 100% recommended.

this is the place to have breakfast in Whitby. They open from early morning and offer the best food and the best value in Britain. They also do lunch dishes but be there before 12 as they close at !pm. Everything I have ordered here comes freshly cooked and is always very good quality. The staff are down to earth and friendly. My only disappointment this year was to find out they no longer open on a Sunday.

The Best Breakfast within 100 miles. All the food for not much of a price. £6-00 for a full English is amazing. The staff are Fabulous and very helpful. Don't forget cash only.

The best place in Whitby for breakfast full English or eggs/beans on toast or a juicy bacon/sausage bun what ever you want it's tasty and great value. The staff are friendly and there is a great local feel about the place, wouldn't go anywhere else for breakfast.

Myself and my family have just concluded our holiday in Whitby and needed a fry up to start the home bound journey. Got recommended this place by a local and wow we were not disappointed. From entering the door and being welcomed by a lovely young gentleman to leaving the door being thanked by all the staff we can not complain. We will 100% recommend to anyone looking for a breakfast.

We are currently on holiday in Whitby with our 2 year old. We popped in this morning for a breakfast and it was absolutely beautiful. Proper English fry up served by lovely, friendly and polite staff. Our 2 year old loved it and was even asking for more sausage and beans when hers had all gone. Will recommend to anyone to try when they are visiting Whitby and I'm sure we will be visiting again.

Popped in for breakfast at about half 10 on a Wednesday morning. We had to wait a little while as the tables were all full (a good sign in a cafe!) but the wait was only around 10 mins. Very pleasant staff and the price was great value for what you got (£6 for full English, choice of tea or coffee and 2 slices of bread and butter on the side. I also had a slice of black pudding for 75p extra). We waited about 15 mins for our food and we weren't disappointed - very generous and hearty portion size! Beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, 1 sausage and 2 slices of toast plus the 2 slices of bread and butter. We couldn't finish it all we were so stuffed! If you've got less of an appetite, I'd go for one of the other smaller menu options (all very reasonably priced and freshly cooked - much better than the Wetherspoons opposite for breakfasts!) Tip for future customers - this cafe is cash only! There are a number of free bank cashpoints round the corner though. Will definitely be returning to this lovely friendly local cafe!

This is my favourite place for breakfast in whitby, in fact I would say my favourite to place to have breakfast ever. If you are wanting frills and fancy napkins this place is not for you, but if you are wanting a spotlessly clean cafe with friendly staff, great value and quality food and a super atmosphere this is the place to go. I recommend the full cooked that comes with extra bread and butter and a hot drink for £6, but everything I order here is excellent and also comes with extra toast. Everything is freshly cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients and is also available as a takeaway option.. Add the fact that they open at 5.30am for the early riser I think this is an experience every visitor to whitby needs to try.

After a visit to Whitby and one night stay in a hotel directly opposite this cafe, I must say this little gem was a great find thanks to tripadvisor.£6 for a full English plus toast,bread, also. with tea or coffee was great.The breakfast came very prompt and the staff were really friendly, in fact at 7.30am the cafe was packed, that says something, would definitely return.

We arrived in Whitby at 10.30 on Sunday morning and after parking at the harbour went to look for a brew. We saw that this place was open until 11.00am after opening at 5am so went in and was shown immediately to the only spare table. It had been cleaned so we did the track and trace and were asked for our order at the same time. We had 2teas and 3 tea cakes delivered in quicksticks and so we sat and watched others being served breakfasts and such. The staff were all busy serving, clearing, cleaning and cooking all in a very friendly and cheerful manner. They were also turning people away as it was full and approaching 11 am. I would return.

Called into our go-to breakfast place recently visited Whitby and was delighted that nothing had changed, it was the same friendly staff, the same hot, fresh, delicious food, that opens really early and is dog friendly. Also discovered the yummy chocolate brownies baked on site to take away!!! Looking forward to going back again in August.

I wanted a full English about 10 am and not need to eat again until early evening as planned to spend the day walking. The breakfast at the Singing Kettle fit the bill. My wife had the scrambled egg which came with 3 slices of toast and my full english had the fried eggs on toast as well as two extra slices of bread and butter along with the tasty sausages, bacon beans etc. I ordered and paid for two teas on arrival and when I ordered the breakfast which I didn't realise included tea in the price, the cost of the first tea was returned to me. Basic interior but very clean and good value tasty food

After having a cold breakfast served elsewhere we were directed to the singing kettle. Anyone that likes a fresh cooked breakfast will appreciate this cafe we gad a great breakfast with great service. We highly recommend this cafe and next time we stay in Whitby we will definitely visit again.

During a weekend stay in Whitby we went to Singing kettle cafe for a full Enhlish breakfast, we were very happy with the service and the food, it was very tasty plenty of it and came with toast and bread & butter as well as a tea/coffee, recommended and we will call in again next time.

Don't need lunch now!!! Very nice thick smoky bacon in a soft roll / bap / barm / batch. Had to ask if they'd charged us fhe right amount as it was very good value for money.

We enjoyed a hearty no frills breakfast after a night drinking and it was perfect! The cafe is basic but lovely as the staff were super friendly. The food was just what we were after and it was super cheap too! Would definitely recommend if you are after a quick, greasy spoon style breakfast.

This was our favorite breakfast of our week in Whitby. Proper little cafe offering incredibly valued breakfasts. The sausage, bacon & egg bap was massive and tasted great. On the second visit tried a caramel slice which was also lovely.

Cheap instant coffee. Thick margarine on toast rather than butter. Frilly fried eggs. Cheap, poor quality sausages. Expensive for the stuff served. Strong smell of greasy café, which lingered on my clothes.They had friendly staff which is a positive. I also liked the name of it. I don't often write reviews, but I don't feel the rating about this café on trip advisor reflect what they offer, so I wanted to add some balance.

Just visiting Whitby for the weekend, stopping "room only" so had breakfast here. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the place has a great atmosphere. I will be recommending this place it's well worth a visit.

A little cafe on a side street in Whitby. It was early on a Saturday morning when we arrived. Welcomed in with our dog ‍ (who later got treated with a sausage ) we had bacon and egg baps and a coffee each. Delicious. No wonder the place was so busy at 8am in the morning. Friendly, fast and scrumptious. Very highly recommended the full English which looked gorgeous was only £6

Best breakfast I've had in Whitby. Friendly staff and a great full english to set you up for the day. Been back twice now and will be in again this week, I hope! Much better than the dry microwaved stuff you'd get at Spoons next door. Think they could get away with charging a bit more, the quality is that good!

As our hotel weren't serving breakfast we thought we'd try a local cafe. We were so glad to find this place as the breakfast was amazing value and delicious. The staff also went out of their way to divide a full big breakfast in two for our small children. Wonderful food and service.

Always eat in The Singing Kettle for breakfast, but this is the first time we have visited since COVID-19 ant the place is running like clock work. Tables are safely apart and there is hand sanitizer as you walk in, felt very relaxed happy and safe. For under £10. my husband had a full English two eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans & tomatoes with three rounds of toast bread & butter, I had two eggs on three rounds of toast with two cups of tea. The eggs have lovely golden rich yolks. The place is run by a very warm and friendly family.

So pleased you are open for takeaway. Takeaway bacon buttie, cooked fresh, plenty of HP sauce and coffee. £3.50. Bargain. As a bonus 2 slices of buttered toast included. Even fresh water for Daffy.(my dog). Thank you.

Called here on the last day of our holiday. Wanted something substantial to eat, before our long journey home. This place didn't dissapoint. Staff were friendly and courteous, very efficient service. Full english breakfast, with toast, tea or coffee and bread and butter. Really good value for money. Would definately recommend to anyone who wants a good hearty breakfast with friendly service.

Fantastic breakfast - good, simple, full English - nothing fancy, just what it says on the tin. Amazing value for money. Second time we had rolls - sausage and mushroom for him, bacon and mushroom for me. Every bit as tasty. Can't fault it.

Fantastic full English breakfast! Not posh just up a little side st opposite BHF charity shop and by shoe zone. Lovely atmosphere and great food,locals go in and it's just a NIC ,very reasonable and great food .

Visited this cafe after reading reviews. To be honest I would normally walk past this kind of cafe but this is great for big eaters, the full English breakfast is very good value. £5.50 for a big plate with toast, separate bread and tea or coffee is really good. To be honest the 'butter' was margarine and blobbed in the middle of bread. The toast was very pale for my liking and the bacon quite thick.( prefer mine thin and crispy) suppose I'm quite picky. Busy little Cafe catering for workmen, hard to get a table at 9. Honestly if you want plenty on your plate and it is freshly cooked then do visit this place. You will appreciate the portion size for the price

Called in early 7AM after reading previous reviews. Very friendly and a great breakfast. Had the Full English, bacon, sausage, eggs, fried bread, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms with 2 slices of bread and butter and a big mug of coffee, cooked just as I like it really tasty and just what you need in the morning. Wife had toast and coffee toast was lathered in butter just how it should be. Couldn't believe the price dirt cheap for what you get.

Every time I am in Whitby I call in at the Singing Kettle this time however I am on a diet so didnt partake but my Son did at my reccomendation His words after finishing were "That was the best Breakfast ive ever had" High priase indeed as He is very fussy. Everything is cooked fresh hot good quality produce served with a smile honest good food the Singing Kettle is an absolute gem well worth finding doen a little ally next to the Witherspoons (the less said about thier poor offering the better!)

Great breakfast hosted by a very cheerful owner and helpful staff. My dog was made very welcome and was treated to a free sausage. He also gave this cafe the paws up!!

This was our second visit to the cafe. Excellent sausage bun and big mug of coffee. The toast dripping in butter on the side is pure indulgence. Excellent value and the owner is welcoming. Always seems busy, a good sign.
