The Simla in Plymouth

I’ve lived by the Shimla for 9 years. It used to be fabulous. Changed hands recently and now the food and service are awful. I’ve given it 3 visits but the difference is so clear. Go anywhere else, awful

Delivery came 2hrs after ordered and 3 phone calls to see what was going on. Food finally came stone cold smashed up looked like it had been in a crash. Have argued with the girl on the phone till I'm blue in the face. She wouldn't let me speak to a manager said NO to refund NO to coming collecting it also. £33 spent and the bag if food is still sat here waiting. Tried again tonight I rang at 5pm asked for manager he be in at 6pm. I phone again and was told he won't be here till 10pm now. I said all I want is my money back NO. RUDE AND IGNORANT. Had enough now I'm sure trading standards and environmental health will have a field day with what I have here and the state it come.Only got 1 star because I can't leave a review else. Read alot of reviews before you buy from here it's bad.

Took 2 hours to deliver, website when ordered said 45-60 minutes, rubbish service won’t be using again

Solía ser una muy buena comida para llevar. Hace unas semanas, la comida era insípida y fría. Pensé que era una sola. Sólo tenía una. Fue peor. No tenía frío. No se podía comer carne de cordero al curry cubierta con grasa. número de nuevo eliminado

I have been having the food from here for years and it never disappoints I had it most recently a week ago and it was amazing, so good I had to have it again tonight.fresh hot and quality food what more can you ask for. The staff are brilliant the best I know of so friendly and accomdating I really can't praise these guys and there food enough amazing 10 star rating

I reviewed this take away in June and it was dreadful. I was asked to give them a second chance, today I ordered exactly the same as I did in June and YES I received exactly the same disgusting mush of a curry.. this time It was 45 mins late and again £30 wasted ,, conclusion,, GO ELSEWHERE this is just awful food and terrible service.

Easily the worst Indian food I have ever had the misfortune of paying £30 for.. just a raging hot tin foil tray of mush.. AWFUL

Food was tasteless. Zero spice or even kick. I literally got a bag of chewy smashed up popadoms. Everything tasted as they it came out of a jar. No herbs or seeds in the curry which was supposed to be full of them. The chicken was jelly like and processed . I've ended up throwing it in the bin and putting it down to experience. I will never order from here again. Really is shocking. Ave your money and go to Gurkhas kitchen.

After years of good food and service I have had 3 bad meals in a row. Once my rice was cold. Straight out of the fridge cold. No salad with starters or mains and no apology. The onion salad was filled out with carrot because they clearly had no tomato left. Finally a green rubber band in the curry but the answer was 'we don't' use rubber bands' I will be going elsewhere and telling everyone else the same

I ordered from just eat, the takeaway added a further 30 mins to the delivery time making it an hour and a half. When I rang due to them not meeting that time they said another 40mins!! Unacceptable, so I cancelled. I must say if they were more polite and respectful I would probably went ahead with it. I will never order from them again!!!!

This was an average indian takeaway, I ordered the set menu for two which was nice and made sense for my circumstances.

Been ordering from the Shimla for years. Always excellent and I've never had an issue with delivery. If anything it arrives faster than the estimated time. Cracking curry

Didnt enjoy this takeaway at all it was cold on arrival the driver had no change so had to give him extra £4 the meals were all sauce with like 3 chunks of meat wont be ordering again thats for sure

Been ordering from the Shimla for years. They should be far higher up on TA. Never had anything less than a brilliant meal. Decent size portions, incredibly tasty, service including delivery driver always very polite and helpful. Also delivery times they quote are always spot on. Normally around 40 minutes. Ordered last night on a busy Saturday and was told 75 minutes. Turned up exactly on time. Food always delivered piping hot so need to reheat. The Chicken Bullet is awesome but hot! You will not be disappointed!

The meal was cold, swarming in ghee, lacked flavour, watery consistancy. Mushrooms had no flavour, tarka daal had a thick layour of oil on the surface. A dissapointing experience we wil not try again.

Tengo, como otros, utilizamos este para llevar varios años. He tenido algún buen servicio, y algunos mal servicio, pero anoche realmente se llevó la palma. Ordenados en 18:35 y dijeron que tardarían una hora y 10 minutos. Orden, o lo que creía que era el pedido llegó a las 20:13! Ahora me pareció que el conductor de la entrega fue en una prisa para salir, tener los propietarios me dijo no tenía ni idea de lo que estaban haciendo! ! En la apertura de la bolsa, un plato que faltaba, y no lateral poppadums estaban incluidas. Los pickles eran. Ah, y estaba en lo mejor, tibio. Llamé para quejarme, y me gritó por el teléfono, de culpar al conductor 'entrega idiota". Me ofrecieron una comida fresca, pero eso habría significado otro retraso de 25 minutos, así que me negué, y era entonces un reembolso irrisorios, £5 parte. Obviamente hay problemas aquí. Tuve que levantar mi voz para conseguir mi punto de vista ya que el dueño quería poner su lado de la historia. Nota al propietario. . . . El dinero con usted mi amigo paradas, no culpes a otros y obtener su casa en orden. Yo por fin nunca de ellos.

I have used this takeaway for many years and have found it excellent. Curry last night was poor. Nan was dry and over cooked. Will probably use Nibana from now on. Sorry Guys!

Without a doubt the best Indian in Plymouth. We order delivery from here twice a month and are never dissapointed. Clean, friendly staff and tasty. The chicken sagwala is an absolute dream!

Another one i have worked in behind the scenes on their gas cooker ranges. The place is spotless in behind and the food is prepared likewise so i cant praise them enough, The counter staffare all family members and are so helpful and ensure you get what you ask for and more .Excellent food and reasonably priced. I always order a delivery and they state a time and it is on time.

Lovely food prepared by Shimla. Very busy takeaway as delivery time is within 1hr most of the times. But when its awesome food... its worth the wait. Open kitchen.. nice to see all the staff cooking my food when collecting my meal. Polite and friendly staff. Thank you Shimla

been using these for years however the last curry i had was disgusting, watery, pale and tasteless, dissapointted

have tried alot of indians.. and came across this place.. and i have to say the food is the best i have had after trying so many other places. Delivery may take up to an hour but its worth the wait.. you can see why they are so busy. Customer service is impeccable! And mouthwatering dishes! Love this place.

Never ever had a bad meal. Always top quality food. Good delivery times and after years of using them they have not once got the order wrong. Best Indian in Plymouth by a mile.

Lovely takeaway, I've had quite a few dishes and every one has been awesome! Really good at doing large orders (about 10 of us) and have never missed anything off, and never had a bad meal.If you pick it up, it's all an open kitchen so you can see them make it :)

The spelling of the name of this effective little suburban Indian takeaway has been changed from the British Raj Simla to the local and present vernacular Shimla. And the shop has become smarter and I think better.

Our indian takeaway of choice... food always nice. Sometimes when busy deliveries can be a bit cold but can just pop them in the oven for 10 mins. Good portion sizes and really tasty.

I was down plymouth too see my family a few weeks ago, i came across their menu at my hotel reception ordered in the mixed grill and chicken bhoona what can i say i was well impressed being asian and having indian food cooked at its best was just so great. Thank you i will be back in a soon and will be ordering again.

Great portions, great service, excellent food and quality. Best in town. Rajstani Murg is my favourite dish.. love it all the time.. free popodams n chutneys comes with tge order.. always surprising.

Have ordered about three times from The Simla. Excellent food and great portions. We have ordered meat and veggie samosas (3 in a portion) which are packed full of delicious filling. The menu has some interesting specials worth trying. Count on an hour for delivery but well worth the wait!

good food excellent veggie curry, good portions, highly recommended out of most Indians in Plymouth!

Convenient to A38 junction and local primary school. We dropped in on wild windswept very wet night but food was quick and fairly tasty. Nothing special but friendly and efficient.
