This is my first time visiting this establishment. I place a high value on customer service, and I was pleased to find that the service here was excellent. The food was served promptly to our table, eliminating any unnecessary waiting. The food itself was visually appealing and of exceptional quality. It is the best fish and chip shop meal I have had in quite some time.

Fresh and crunchy, big portions.

Damn tasty food. The guys here know how to cook. Fresh chips and battered sausages for me every time. I've been a customer for years and they never disappoint.

So my sister brought home some fish and chips yesterday and I had some fish and honestly, it was the best fish I had in a while. Turns out it was from silver hakes. I thought no it can’t be , I’ve been there for the past 10 years now and while it wasn’t bad, it definitely wasn’t the best quality I’ve ever had. Just got some fish and chips for my self and the missus and it is INCREDIBLE. I haven’t eaten here since just before the pandemic but I will definitely be a regular again. The food is 5 stars, but i wish they took card

The owners have a really sneaky tactic. They will make a large piece of cod and leave it on display. When you ask for Fish and chips - they say that will make you a fresh one. Why? There is a piece of fish on display and ready made. The reason is that they they will make you a new piece of fish half the size of the one you can can see. Dishonest.

Sent my family to get cod and chips a few weeks ago. Masha Allah the brother (owner I believe?) was very nice. Threw in extras when my brother told him we’d driven quite some way to try their food. The chips were soft melt in the mouth hunks of potatoes. Delicious! Unfortunately the fish was so greasy, it was not only visible but the batter was oozing oil. I did see a 2/3 reviews saying this. But I overlooked it, thinking it must be due to their personal preference. But they were right. It could just have happened on these occasions, like if the temperature of the oil isn’t hot enough when frying food, it can seep into it, especially something so porous like batter. Whatever the reason, I tried to hide my disappointment from my family since I was the one who’d recommended it. So did my best to eat it but ended up feeling nauseous. In the end we all agreed the food was oily. And when I reheated the leftover chips the next day, oil was dripping out of them too. It wasn’t obvious when they were fresh. So sadly, it’s been a let down. And despite the brother being very nice, sorry to say but we won’t be going there again.

Best fish and chips with the fish cooked on order. Prices have increased but quality and portion size remained the same. The owners are a great bunch who are friendly and welcoming

Best fish and chips in Birmingham. Even better than most sea side fish and chips. The ONLY reason I give it a 4* is because they use to do a large and a small fish option which was ideal for hungry or not so hungry moments. Now the small is a standard size they do but have recently upped the price.

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Seen a post of this place so I went down straightaway. Everything is made fresh and in front of you, really fresh cod fish, proper crispy and flaky inside. Chips were really tasty and the curry sauce was delicious. Really good customer service. Definitely recommend this place for sure.

Came to visit the family in B,ham from Yorkshire, and as you know we love our fish and chips. I tried Silver Hake and WOW!!! Definitely one of the best fish i have had.. curry sauce was amazing!!!! Big shout out at to my cuzzies Saj for taking me here, what a experience.

Best chippy in birmingham my mom and me cant resist going in here when its open and always end up in their again and again their chicken and chipis are to die for and their kabab meat is amazing always hot and tasty and reliable

Bought food today 1st june 2022 very salty curry sauce suffered severe cramps for hours never experienced this before food is normally good maybe new cooks in kitchen

Went in this evening and was not disappointed, absolutely spot on fresh-cooked fish and chips, and reasonably priced as well.

The food is absolutely delicious the chicken the wraps the burgers everything tastes perfect it is cooked fresh me and my family are always satisfied with the food also the selection of drinks has gotten better overtime (in my opinion)

Uno de los mejores chippy's en brum. . . Mi papá va de 1 a 3 veces CADA semana y yo trato de ir con él y mis 3 hijos siempre que puedo. Solíamos usar Bedders hasta que la familia Bedders se agotó. . . y la comida se fue cuesta abajo. . . este lugar es tan bueno como los Bedders originales si te gusta el pescado con patatas fritas decente. . . La única queja es que no hacen las cebollas picadas empapadas en vinagre como solía hacer Bedders, pero no pueden tenerlo todo.

I have been a regular at silver hake for many years since it came under its current owners. The food is really food quality all around. My only qualm is with the cod fish. Whilst it is nice, their is hardly any fish and is covered heavily in batter. When the shop opened, the fish used to have thick flakes but now their is hardly and fish and for the prices you pay, you would expect more fish. I used to regularly purchase the large cod and chips but have stopped doing so a while back. I would say to the owner 'please have thicker pieces of fish as your fish at the moment os waaaaaay to thin'. Apart from that, good quality shop (prices are a bit steep as well).

Tastiest fish and chips in brum along with bedders, in my opinion they are as good as each other. The fish and chips are fried to order so always hot. Crispy batter and fluffy chips. Portion sizes are bang on for the money, curry sauce and mushy peas are perfect.

The fish and chips at the Silver Hake are the best for miles. Finest quality fish, cooked to order by experts. Consistently satisfying. These guys know what they’re doing and they put their heart and soul into it. I pass several other fish and chip shops to get to this one. Have been a customer for years. Finest hospitality too. It’s the best.

Reasonable prices, lovely fish cooked fresh to order, great chips. Pretty much everything you want in a local chippy! Only "criticism" I could mention is that it may have been nice to have a choice of haddock or plaice as well as the cod and scampi on offer. Will be returning!

Well run, great food although not particularly large portions. Small sit down areas that were a bit tatty but served the purpose well. Staff were great and very efficient.

Always enjoy the fish and chips here with thick curry sauce or mushy peas. Always fresh and made to order. The Scolops are awesome. It's a toss up between bedders and silver hake.

We have had fish and chips from here so many times and we have never been dissappointed. Lovely fresh crispy fish and chips are always hot and yummy. This is a kids favourite. Curry sauce is also a must. Youngest loves their donner meat. It is always tasty and goes down well with everyone. Parking is sometimes a problem but that doesnt stop us from going. Great service and great food.

Mis amigos de 90 y 95 años de edad respectivamente, me quería ir con ellos para pescado y patatas fritas de la Plata merluza. Me quedé muy impresionado con la calidad de la comida y cuando mi amigo de 95 años tenía un poco "de", el personal no podía haber hecho más de preocupación y ayuda. Rara vez ir a comer pescado y patatas fritas de estos días, así que chippie disfrutamos mucho de la comida, pescados encantador! Estupendo personal y gracias a ellos mi amigo recuperado lo suficiente para comer la comida a nuestro regreso a su casa.

Empecemos por el recto. Pedí un bacalao y patatas fritas, que cuesta £5,85. La porción era razonable para el precio.
