Outstanding chip shop. We tried cod, mixed kebab meat, chicken nuggets and chips - all were first class and fresh. Portion size great, prices fair, staff lovely. Highly recommended.

Yesterday we bought two small fish a portion of chips and one doner kebab from the Bakers lane Fish Bar. Two of us were quite ill. The fish was passable, but the chips were dry and not very nice. The Doner was cold, and the salad accompanying it tasted different. This Fish Bar was once one of the best in the area, but it has certainly gone downhill. Of the two ill people, both had eaten some of the Doner Kebab. I do think that the salad was the cause of the problem.

Excellent, clean and honest! Andy and his staff are the best! They ran the business with ingredients of first quality!

I have only just been trying this chippy after a recommendation been here 3 times already very big portions great on price even tho I have got to travel as it’s a little bit out of my way but don’t mind as it the best chippy by far around I recommend Bakers lane fish bar a must try

Always busy, shows how popular they are. Had to queue as usual but customers are a friendly lot. Staff can be serving 2or 3 customers at the same time keeping the orders in their head. Have to order chicken & not regular items on entry. Food always warm & generous portions. Not the cheapest chip shop nearby but my fav

Just finished the best haddock and chips I've had in a long time. Mother in law really enjoyed her fresh roe, worth the trip from Middlewich. Definitely we'll be coming here again. Thanks for a lovely supper

Great food and welcoming staff.

I first visited this "Chippy" as a school boy, now an adult, my kids too visit here, it's just that sort of place, traditional, simple and friendly. It's hard to get teenagers to do chores, but ask them to pop to the "Chippy", and they never complain. Highly recommended..

First time and last time I will come here. Chips were undercooked and chicken tikka and donner meat was below average.

Juicy Doner and fantastic chips

Came here to pick up some dinner as they were open slightly later than expected and reviews were good. Received a very friendly service. I didn't ask but got the feeling of being family run. Good portions and food was tasty and fresh. Recommended!

We drive out of our way to go here for food. Staff are lovely, place is clean and you always get what you ask for. Value for money and great quality. A true, traditional chippy where you're served when you order.

My 1st visit there, I have driven passed it many times. There was a bit of a queue which to me is always a good sign, the shop was spotless, the staff were really friendly and the chips were the best I have tasted for many years. I definitely won't drive past it again and I would reccomend anyone to go there.

We have used this chippy for years, however the last two times very disappointed. The dirty oil taste over powered the fish and chips totally inedible on this last visit. Won't visit again. Great staff tho.

What can I say, only positive things. The fish shop is really clean. The staff are so lovely especially Maggie. The food is always fresh and nothing is too much trouble. The amount of chicken you get in your wrap is definitely value for money. We wouldn't go any where else.

Every time I've been here I have not been disappointed. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. The chicken fillet burger is a favourite of mine. The staff are always polite and friendly. The singing is not bad either ha ha.

Myself and my partner have come up to Birmingham for the weekend and went to Bakers Lane Fish Bar and omg the food we had was lovely and the curry sauce is the best we have ever had and the staff are so friendly and welcoming great place would highly recommend

OK, we were only away on holiday for a couple of weeks but it was good to return, ready for the best Fish & Chips anywhere around here. We have used Bakers Lane now for a couple of years & what appeals to us above the excellent quality is the variety. ALL the fish is top notch & while I go for cod, my wife loves the place. Being regulars ourselves, it's good to see so many others who are also recognised by the excellent staff who are well trained by Andrew.

We don’t live very close to this chippy but we travel there as the chips are so good 👌🏻

Lovely staff, making sure you wont ever go hungry, serving up awesome fish & chips, various kebabs and lots of other delights they have on offer, all at very reasonable prices too..... I hit upon Bakers Lane Fish Shop by accident last year, and it is now one of only two fish & chip shops in the whole of Birmingham that I will consider using (the other being Dad's Lane) - and believe me, I love my fish & chips! I have been over a dozen times since and the quality of both the food and the experience have been exemplary. The shop is always clean, the staff professional and friendly, the prices more than reasonable and the wait never over-long (even with to-order items like kebabs). All of the above would mean nothing if the food were not up to scratch, but it most certainly is. Highlights of the menu include the staple battered cod and haddock which are crisp on the outside and pure white fishy gorgeousness on the inside, and both the "proper" donner kebabs in pitta bread and the extremely generous kebab meat meal boxes. Best of all, the chips are hot and fresh and taste like PROPER chip shop chips (not the overly dry, thin and/or discoloured gunk that almost all other Brummy chippies foist on you). In short, bakers Lane Fish Shop never fails to deliver piping hot, fresh food in exactly the way I like it. Not fancy, not gimmicky, just an AMAZING fish & chip shop!

Good old fashioned fish & chips

I came here because my regular chip shop was closed for refurbishment, this is now the only chippy I use, the fish and chips were to die for and the staff are so polite and friendly. Highly recommend.

Havnt been to this chip shop in ages. But on passing by I thought it would be rude not to pop in and it was still amazing as it was since last time I came in. Beautiful light batter tastiest chips I have experienced. Keep it up

Chips were old, fish was dry and batter was greasy.. it was clearly an old piece double dropped in oil to freshen up. Staff were engrossed in their own gossip and barely interacted with me. Won't be returning.

Friendly family run business, still get an excellent fish and great chips at a very reasonable price. Popular with all the locals. There is nothing close nearby to match up. Watch the lunchtime hours, does close at 2.00pm prompt-ish and re-open 4.30.

We came here again but there were loads of small broken chips in our bag, like it was at the bottom of the fryer. It was still nice but all those bits spoilt it. We like long, thick chips, not hundreds and thousands.

Stopped in to grab some chips to share whilst driving. Over a 1/3 of the bag were raw! They were brown but I can only assume the oil was dirty?!? We had to throw them away. Will not be back!!!

Eaten here loads of times! The best fish you will find. Always so fresh, the chips are always cooked amazingly, love the kebabs!You can tell it's all fresh food they use not frozen rubbish.Staff are lovely too!I know a lot of people who travel far to get their fish and chips from here! Had a fish supper from here what a waste of time I ended up throwing it away Disguised at the about of batter on the fish, little fish in side and expensive for sod all. Chips very average won't be going back again

I come here occasionally to get a fish and chip meal, have done so for many years,We have never had a bad one.The fish has always been very good.Not cheap but,for just under a tenner a great meal.

I only had chips from this place but the were very very tasty! Staff were efficient as well. Prices are not the cheapest though.
