The Signal Box in Camden

We got an order of pancakes, eggs, cafe mocha and coffee, and paid 60 pounds. Quite expensive for breakfast. The location is convenient for a train trip.

This was an ideal spot for a meal prior to taking the sleeper train to Scotland. We were seated quickly, our large suitcases were also easily accommodated, and our orders were taken at a leisurely pace; there was time to consult the server about the menu items. Members of staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks and food were served efficiently and in a very short time. Meals were hot, ample in size and very tasty. We were very pleased with the whole experience.

Breakfast was excellent had the Avocado with kale and feta, swapped out the bread for a poached egg. My request was accepted with a smile by a very kind waiter Duran Duran 😀 Tea served in a little pot with nice china cup. A very relaxed Breakfast before my journey. Would highly recommend

Despite all of the recent public awareness of the importance of allergen training, it has clearly not reached The Signal Box. Having asked about nut allergens we ordered our meals to include 2 haddock and chips. The server delivered 3 portions of fish and chips to our table, then having sent one back, another meal came minus out the chips which we had to ask for. After we had started eating, the server came out to my son with the allergen free version of the fish and chips which he said had been cooked in separate oil to avoid cross contamination. Not happy about this, we asked to see the manager, the deputy manager came over and proceeded to insist there were no nuts on the menu (yet there is a dish that contains cashews) and that there was no difference in the fish and chips, and that the server, who stood next to her, did not know anything. We were refunded for the portion of fish and chips, and our drinks, but this would be poor compensation in the event of an anaphylactic reaction. The lack of communication between staff followed by denial is not acceptable where peoples lives are at risk by the food they eat. If you do not have an allergy then I would recommend the food but not the service!

If you are ever in or near Euston this is the air conditioned place to drink. Sells food too, although we just partook in their lovely lager.

This place is always packed and sometimes a wait at the bar but it’s decent food and has Peroni on tap. I ordered Sausage & Mash, found a table, only to discover I was meant to be at Waterloo rather than Euston, so I had to bolt it and didn’t finish my pint but the Sausage & Mash was excellent!

Really tasty all day breakfast and the waiter Duran was very polite and welcoming. Really fresh food which tasted very nice

I know, it is a restaurant at a busy rail hub, designed to mass produce meals to satisfy the demand. But if the standard of food and service at peak times matches that when it is quieter, it really isn't bad at all. The service was efficient but not warm, the menu is basically upmarket pub fayre but is nonetheless interesting. We had a soft shell crab burger which was excellent as was the steak and mushroom pie. Everything arrived piping hot and promptly. This is a Fuller's managed operation and a great experience here encouraged us to try other examples. Unfortunately, for them, this was the best in my opinion.

Witnessed members of staff going to the toilet and not washing their hands, when complained to the manager, the response was, they are a trainee and I don’t know them very well.

Why have drinks menus on the tables if you’re not prepared to make the drinks they state you have available? Seems very odd to me. Just remove them from the table rather than advertising something you’re not prepared to do. I dared to ask for a particular drink and was spoken too quite rudely that they didn’t have that. I said ‘oh sorry I just saw it on the menu on the table, I’ll have a lemonade instead’ and was snapped at ‘yes well I don’t have the staff to make that, what do you want?’. Umm, the lemonade I literally just asked you for? What made me chuckle is that it was a Virgin mojito. It’s basically soda and lime with a bit of mint and sugar. It would have taken 30 seconds. But whatever, your staffing issue clearly needed to be my problem. Also, as well as your attitudes, clean up your tables more. Tables are (from all the ones that we saw) either wobbley, sticky, or both!

Was disappointed with the service here. Was served at the bar by a bald man who was fairly rude to me after asking to customise my breakfast. Very easy requests like removing spinach and adding a hash brown. Was told the kitchen was going to shout at him and asked why I didn’t just order a normal breakfast. Absolutely no need for this Extremely overpriced too, such a shame as it looked like a lovely place

We arrived and were shown to a dirty table. The server said he would clean it then promptly forgot. We had to ask for it to be cleaned. We ordered two drinks and they came in cans, no glasses or ice. We had to ask for glasses. After we received our drinks we waited twenty minutes to order food as we couldn’t catch anyone eye. We then ordered another round of drinks and after waiting 15 minutes for them to come I went up to get them from the bar myself. To top it off we had a seemingly non discretionary “service charge” added to our bill. Food was tasty enough but not enough staff, and not enough basic customer service.

Service was mediocre, the breakfast was tepid and the poached eggs were overdone, quite hard, the bacon rashers looked like they had been boiled, no crisp at all and my toast was cold and chewy. I like my food hot and fresh. Only ate a few mouth-full's and left the rest. When I asked for the bill, the waiter had an attitude, he actually rolled his eyes, like he'd been asked to do some work! Very rude considering they automatically add a service charge....!

I really don’t know why this place hasn’t got a higher rating. Every time I’ve been (maybe every 3 months) it’s really good. Staff are always very pleasant and smiley. Service is very quick and efficient and food has always been good. Eggs Benedict today yoke still runny ham tasty, as good as any I’ve had. Caesar salad is also recommended.

The place, food and service were excellent. The manageress, however, was outrageously rude to her staff. I was horrified at the way she spoke to them. For this reason would not be returning.

Brunch before our journey was amazing. Opted for the full English breakfast which was one of the best I have ever had! To have bread that is so tasty and proper butter was a treat and the plateful was more than adequate! We’ll definitely be looking forward to returning soon. Service was fabulous too.

Travelling to Glasgow that morning, we decided the best way to start was a full cooked breakfast. And at £15.50 (drinks not included), our expectations were high. Maybe too high... When the sustenance arrived, things weren't good: beans that were barely tepid; "poached" eggs that could've been quite sunk a battleship; toast that had only seen the toaster in passing to our table. Two points of note: the black pudding tasted delicious; the staff provided impromptu entertainment by having a raised-voice argument amongst themselves about customer input v kitchen output. Bravo! Encore! Next time I'm going through Euston for an early train, I'd rather go to Starbucks...

Been here before so decided to have breakfast here again and we are glad we did! Staff were friendly and polite, food was delicious, especially the French toast which I had, they also do a lovely hot chocolate too. I’d definitely recommend here.

Worst breakfast ever. Raw bacon, hard poached eggs and an overpowering taste of vinegar, black pudding like sawdust, bread dry and impossible to eat, watery mushroom. That was just my breakfast, my friend couldn’t eat theirs. On the plus side the coffee was nice and the waiter was superb but £40+ pounds for a nice coffee is excessive even by London’s prices

We were at Euston for the Caledonian sleeper and had a drink in here whilst we were waiting for the lounge to open. Lively bright bar and restaurant. Nice atmosphere and drinks

Great breakfast on a Sunday morning - quality ingredients and nicely cooked. A bit pricey but worth it for a treat. Lovely service from the Indian (? apols if wrong) lady waiter on 21/1.

The food was actually very good. We had the battered haddock and beef burger. The portions were a decent size, especially the haddock and tasted really good. Despite being a very busy Saturday evening the service was still pretty quick and friendly with it. All in all decent pub food which was just what we were looking for as we were too tired to go and look for a restaurant somewhere else.

We popped in for lunch after our train was delayed due to storm damage. I asked if there were gluten free options due to allergy, and our waiter consulted with the manager, Sonia , who came herself and went through the menu with me. This lovely lady also checked again when the food was served, to make sure everything was gluten free. The food was excellent and I really felt that Sonia had gone well beyond the normal attention I have received at other establishments. I am so sorry I scared the waiter by asking to see the manager again after we had finished our meal but assured him it was for good intentions and not a complaint. A very good experience here and will definitely recommend The Signal Box.

Great place to sit, eat and relax before travelling back home. Service was quick & friendly. Food was lovely and the price wasn’t bad considering it is a station and London. Don’t put the prices up tho haha

WORST food, WORST service, WORST attitudes. If you're looking for overpriced , rude, bad attitude service, with crap food that you wait for ever for, then this is your place!

Normally good amount if space to get a seat. I can’t complain about my small bite bar meal of Sprays and tartare sauce and an earl grey. Quick and they tasted good

The good - staff were pleasant. The bad - 2 cappuccinos at just under £8 was expensive enough, but to add 12.5% service charge - 99p - on top was a rip off, and the coffees were only lukewarm. Next time we travel through Euston we will try Starbucks. Won't be going back to the Signal Box.
